Resonance Golf Collection, one of Europe’s leading golf resort and leisure businesses, is pleased to announce the appointment of Colin Mayes to its board as a Non-Executive Director.
The appointment, effective immediately, reflects Resonance’s commitment to strengthening its leadership team as it pursues growth and expansion across Europe.
Mayes brings nearly four decades of experience in the golf, leisure, property and hospitality sectors, most notably as Chief Executive Officer of Burhill Group Limited (BGL), one of Europe’s largest multi-course operators with 22 golf courses across 10 clubs in England.
Under his leadership, BGL achieved record sales at the end of 2023, rising 11.3% to £60.9 million, driven by a 10% uplift in the group’s golf division. This trend continued as mid-way through 2024, BGL’s golf division again achieved and 11% increase in overall sales year-on-year. Mayes also spearheaded the expansion of BGL’s experiential leisure portfolio under the Adventure Leisure brand, growing the number of trading venues to 19 by the end of 2023, which secured an overall sales increase of 16% through 2023.
He also serves on the boards of both the UK Golf Federation and the European Golf Federation, contributing to the development of the sport and industry across the continent.
Laurent Boissonnas, Chairman of Le Touquet Syndicate that owns Resonance Golf Collection, stated: “I am delighted to welcome Colin Mayes to our Board of Directors. It is great recognition for the work we have accomplished over the past few years in developing our golf clubs, resorts, and the Resonance Golf brand. We share the same values and attachment to family entrepreneurship. His knowledge of multi-venue operations, developing strategy, focus on customer feedback, and passion for developing new business opportunities and further revenue streams are all things that we’re looking forward to him bringing to Resonance Golf as we look to the future.”
Speaking on his appointment, Mayes said: “I am delighted to be joining the board of Resonance Golf. Laurent and his family have built a business with a strong reputation and impressive portfolio of properties across France and Belgium. I look forward to helping the board identify opportunities for growth and further development in Europe as the business continues its exciting journey.”
