The golf community is split on President Trump’s controversial move on the course this weekend.
President Trump, 79, and his granddaughter, Kai Trump, attended the Ryder Cup on Friday. The Trump family watched Team USA struggle against Team Europe at Bethpage Black. Team Europe ended up winning the 2025 Ryder Cup on Sunday. Later in the weekend, President Trump and his granddaughter, Kai Trump, played a round of golf together.

But President Trump, who has played dozens of rounds of golf since taking office in January, is catching some heat – and some praise – on social media for his decision.

President Trump, who owns several prestigious courses around the world, was caught driving his golf course onto the green.
At basically every course in the world, that’s a no-no. But is it OK when the President of the United States does it?
Perhaps.
The golf community appears to be split
President Trump is taking some heat on social media for the move, while others are saying it’s OK, given his age and overall standing.

“The president was spotted breaking a basic rule of golf etiquette while hitting the links with granddaughter Kai,” the Daily Beast wrote.
“I Love how trump has his cart on the green 😂,” another fan wrote.
“Its the fringe. And also, green mowers drive on them every day,” one fan added.
“It’s his green so he can do what he wants!” one fan added.
