Thank you for saying this. I literally shoot in the low 90s (high 80s on a good day) and I always tell my wife’s uncle that I’m a 21 handicap and he laughs at me. He says that the way I shoot that there is no way I’m a 21 so this makes me feel better I’m gonna say I’m a 17 now 😊
if u never shoot below your handicap thats not your handicap. im a 21 handicap which means i shoot 21 over on average (i know thats not exactly how its calculated but its a layman's explanation). my home course is a par 70 which means i should shoot 91. but ive broken ninety several times.
The guy on the left is a 4. The guy on the right is almost a 6… he’s only got 13 scores there. So 6-7 of them would be counted. Take those best 6-7 average how much that is over par and subtract 2 shots. Handicap is your potential, not your average. Hence why your handicap is less than what you shoot. There’s a big formula involved I know but basically 2 shots less than what you average is right. I’m a 4.2 but I have some mid 80’s in there at harder courses. But I also have a couple 71’s. Sugar or shit, but idc. I’m not on tv or play tournament. And I don’t practice much.
I propose a new system. The Handi-Gap. Basically you play 25 rounds and make a box and whisker plot of your scores. And your focus is actually to start lowering the higher scores in the grouping (making your box smaller) while still understanding you will have outliers. So when someone asks you what your handicap is two people may say a 6 but one is someone with a tighter range than the other guy. The former is the more consistent golfer but the other one may have a few more lower scores than the first guy.

Yep….bout right.
true
Difference is Guy on Left is a 6 and the guy on the right is a 10-11 handicap it's not best score 😂
Ur not a 6 if ur consistory shooting 80s unless ur playing tips
As a 4.2 I can confirm. Some days I’m on most days I’m not 😂

Handicap really doesn’t matter.

As a 9 handicap I can boldly confirm lol

Please explain how this works?
If that’s real, your not a six handicap
As a 6 handicap I can confirm
Equals to a 82 average per round, haven’t heard of a par 76 before
I must be better than I think. I get triggered if I don’t break 80 on my home course
And that's why it's your potential, not your average

Differentials matter more than scores.

85 he probably played a course he’d never seen before or he played a course that’d been punched.
I know they got a new club(s) after posting that 90
The column on right looks more like a 10 handicap.
