HICKORY, N.C. – After an opening round 305 (+17), the Lenoir-Rhyne men’s golf team rebounded with scores of 279 (-9) and 292 (+4) to finish with an 876 (+12) at the Jay Jennison Cup, tying for 11th. Their second-round score of 279 was the second lowest of the round.
Veteran Sean Finan was the lone Bear in the top-20, tying for 19th with a 217 (+1). He shot rounds of 69-70 to close out the tournament. Matthew McDougall used a second-round 68 (-4) to propel him to a tie for 28th with a 218 (+2). The third Bear to shoot under-par in the second round, Slade Aliff went 77-69-75 to tie for 52nd with a 221 (+5). Stanislaus Koch (225, +9) and Jake Moore (231, +15) rounded out the scoring for the Bears.
As a team the Bears finished fourth in both par 3 (3.50, +3) and par 4 (4.31, +4) scoring. Jake Moore had Lenoir-Rhyne’s lone eagle, marking down a two on the par-4 third hole.
INDIVIDUAL SCORES
The Bears will head to Toccoa, Georgia, next week to take part in the Curahee Invitational, hosted by Anderson. The tournament will take place on Monday and Tuesday at the Curahee Golf Club.
