what are your thoughts on this year’s Ryder cup??? Sunday was cinema 🤷‍♀️ #rydercup #golf

The RDER Cup has come and gone, and I kind of expected that the US may not be up to the task against Europe, but I wanted to talk about my three key takeaways from the weekend. First of all, Scotty Shuffler just is not up to the task when it comes to alternate shot. His single record is 2 and 0 when he’s playing independent golf on the Sunday of the Rder Cup, which is phenomenal. But his Forsomes record for the alternate shot event is 0 and4. And oh, like he hasn’t even tied an alternate shot event before. I’m not exactly a professional when it comes to sports psychology, but my guess is that he puts so much pressure on himself for team events, when it comes to forsomes and fourball. But when he’s winning majors, we’ve all heard him talk about how he doesn’t put any pressure or any expectations on the outcome of majors and he ends up winning a lot of them. and he is not used to playing so stressed out in my opinion and that really shows in his team event record. Second, I know hindsight is 2020, but I think we needed to see JJ Spawn and Sam Burns in the alt shot in the forums events. They are two of the best putters we have in the country. And I know Russell Henley and Harris English didn’t play very well, so that’s again hindsight. But Sam Burns is a phenomenal putter and so is JJ Spawn. So, I really think they would have picked up in those scenarios when Europe was really just making every putt. Those two guys are phenomenal putters. I think they would have really helped in those events. Third, America. I think we need to do a little bit of self-reflection and think about how much class we show on the golf course and especially at the Rder Cup. The Ryder Cup is meant to be fun and chirpy and outgoing. I get it. But where do we go from throwing beer at the competitors and their wives? Like, what what are we doing? All in all, it was such an exciting event. Sunday, the Americans push to try to make a comeback was looking like the greatest comeback in all of sports history, but we just still came short. I think the biggest takeaway, honestly, is we need to show up on Friday. We need to show up on that first day in 2

  1. Couldn't agree more. If our captain had seen the mismatch with Morikawa and pulled him from day one we might have played better on day 2. You're spot on with Scottie as well. He does not do well in team formats. Bryson did well but looked like he was struggling also. Great breakdown in general from you.
