LOS ANGELES – Trevor Algya leads the way for the LMU men’s golf team after recording back-to-back rounds of 69 on the first day of play at the Mark Simpson Colorado Invitational.
Algya sits in a tie for 11th at 6-under after totaling five birdies in each of the first two rounds.
Daniel Bullen sits in the top 20 with his 4-under performance with a 70-70—140. In Bullen’s opening round, like Algya did in his second round on Monday, recorded four consecutive birdies.
Louie Liu took a stroke off between rounds, shooting 72-71—143.
Nateesh Anatha Ganesh (70-74—144) and Pablo Garcia Terol (73-71—144) close out the LMU five and sit in a tie for 53rd in the 100-player field.
As a team, LMU is 14-under par and is in fifth place overall. The Lions have recorded the second most holes of par with 119 over the two rounds.
All five of LMU’s golfers will tee off at 8:15 AM MT in a shotgun start to play the final round.
Simultaneously, David Gutierrez and Adam Pedersen are competing as individuals in the concurrent Les Fowler Colorado Invitational. Gutierres is in a tie for fourth with his 71-71—142, while Pedersen has shot 75-72—147 to tie for 19th in the field of 38. That event will conclude with a shotgun start at 8:00 AM mountain time.
