Will get the start his 7th and 8th overall appearance of the year two up, two down and here’s Gorman the pitch on the way, a swing and a miss after a half inning, the Cardinals failed to gain a base runner. The Cubs are coming at Wrigley field in Chicago. Exciting day for kyle Lea. It has been a pretty good early career for Kyle Leahy. 97 appearances, all have been out of the pen. A unique opportunity here getting a chance to start his first major league game. Two outs. Here’s I to left and Church Hartley had to move. It’s a 123 inning for kyle Leahy and his first major league start way to go one pitch one out in the second inning for javier Asad Jordan Walker was a home run in this series to Walker’s swing and a miss struck him out. Number two, Jimmy Crooks, the Cardinals catcher is next lined into center PC A misplays that, that’s behind him that will roll to the Ivy Crook’s around second. He’s on his way to third and pop Warner will stop him there. Armstrong with a rare mistake in center and Crooks takes advantage. He stands at third with two outs , a first career triple here for Jimmy Crooks. I don’t know if it ended up just sitting down before Pete Armstrong thought it was going to tail back on him. Let’s see if the Cardinals now can take advantage of this. So first baseman joel Poso into shallow, right, going out his corner, he’ll make the call and the catch no runs for ST Louis third inning in Chicago. We are scoreless looking for his first hit of the series batting 213 overall. That one headed for the gap in right center for Armstrong. A nice job to cut that off. That’s what you want to see. Victor do more of line drives to the alleys, leadoff single. Nathan Church who’s got a homer eight RBIs swing and a Miss Church comes up and third strikeout for Assad. There’s one away as the runner goes pitch high and dropped and a belly flop steal for Victor Scott is 34th. Now it’s three and one for Fermin ball 42 aboard for Iván herrera who chased to the Ivy his first time up. Let’s see if the can throw one of those sinkers and induce a ground ball right about now. There it is bounced to second fielded by Horner steps on the back throws to first double play just what the doctor ordered. And at the end of 2.5, no score. Armstrong gets his first look. At kyle, it’s a bounce by walker and there is your first out Castro switch hitter batting from the left side on the ground might get two. There’s one, there’s two. How about Kyle? He works three innings in his first big league start leading off the top of the fourth inning for ST Louis who chased down and away his first time up. It’s nine and a swing and a miss. That was a changeup. Assad fourth strikeout of the day. Strikeout number five for javier as quickly two outs for the Redbirds in the fourth inning, Jordan Walker, the two pulled on the ground a third glove by Castro on a good bounce and he shows a very strong arm coming across the diamond in time three up, three down by Assad four shutout innings. So far we go to the bottom of the fourth John King now is on in relief. The left. He has the bottom of the fourth inning and his first assignment , Michael Bush as he ties up, Michael Bush, three pitches retires him. Bush is zero for two. Nico Horner flied out to left his first time and a base hit for Niko. What else is new pops it up might be playable. Third base side, shallow left and the third baseman now moving into Fallow territory is Gorman making the catch in the shadows over near the Cubs. Third base dugout two down. Tucker drives one to left. It’s going to be caught by church and he makes the catch no runs for the Cubs. We go to the fifth inning game 162 Cubs and Cardinals scoreless Seo Suzuki at the plate goes the good will. That is hammered left field, it’s back and it’s gone four straight games, Forsa Suzuki with a and just like that, the Cubs have a one nothing lead number 32 wacky wacky game. This is struggling for so long in terms of the long ball and now he hits one every day coming at a good time. Talk about timing with say getting hot, Pete Armstrong, getting hot, Michael Bush extremely hot and now you get Tucker back in the lineup and you hope Tuck can find his way back to his best form. The Cubs offense starts clicking. Look out, Suzuki goes deep five homers in the last four games. Javier Assad back to work out there, Jose Fermi first up here in the Cardinals sixth inning with a tapper back to the mound side de retired a pitching change shair Assad done for the day. Good work that Sws Willie Castro switch hitter, batting left handed and a swing and a Miss Swen is Hummer. That’s two strikeouts for him. He’s faced two batters with them , both one away. Bush came into this game six out of seven in the series on the ground. Left side. Cardinals had him played perfectly and a strike to first that is out number two Nicole Horner has a hit today. He’s one for two high fly ball hit to left church is back but the win will take that one away from Horner. We go to the seventh on the season’s final day. Cubs one Cardinals. Nothing. Matt’s great year ends in Chicago. Ryan Fernandez looking for a redeemer. We’ll start with kevin on the ground hard hit base, hit up the middle. It’s a leadoff single in the seventh inning for kevin Altra and the Cubs have a man on that one off. The glove of crooks down to second goes after a leadoff base hit a couple of punch outs and Moise Palao who’s playing first base. Now he began as the catcher drive slicing out to left center and it will fall for a hit comes in to score by Estero an RB I single. It’s two prospect team up to bring home run number two to get a big at that late game situation. O’brien comes out to work the bottom of the eighth inning. One out. Willie Castro is coming up and a swing and a miss nice pitch by o’brien for out number two. So it’s Maguire’s turn to squeeze the handle. He digs in Maguire with a base hit over the leaping Fair Warner one for three is cut on and missed and o’brien a nice eighth inning, we go to a top of the ninth for the Cardinals one down here in the ninth inning. Thomas s, there’s a bullet to left. So J keeps on, hit two more hits for him that’s bobbled in left and gets an extra 90 ft. So we’re not done yet. And now walker who can tame any wind, could tie it up two swing and a miss, he went upstairs and beat him. Looking to sing that song for the 50th time this year. 49 and 31 on the Cubs with playoff baseball comes your way from Wrigley on Tuesday in the W column. 92 wins of the year and number 50 at home.

  5. Cubs finally rediscovered the 1st half version of themselves in the final weekend of the season just in time for the playoffs.

  6. We all expected this for the Cardinals. Hopefully there is nowhere to go but up. They have some really good defense, absolutely no pitching, mediocre offense. Bloom has his work cut out for him. But I believe they will be back. It is time to FLY Redbirds!!
