DOWNERS GROVE, IL — Police say a man shoved two golf clubs down his pants during a retail theft incident in Downers Grove.

Officers were called to Golf Galaxy, 1434 Butterfield Rd., just before 2 p.m. on Sept. 2 for a report of a retail theft. The manager told police a man came into the store and was looking around for a brief time before he left the store, walking with a limp that he did not appear to have when he came in.

Video surveillance showed that the man put one putter down his pants and then put another putter down his pants before leaving the store, according to the police department’s crime blotter.

The man was described as a white male in his 40s or 40s with a dark mustache and facial hair on his chin. He has an average build and was last seen wearing a loose-fitting, faded orange polo shirt, blue jeans, a white baseball cap and dark-colored gym shoes.

The stolen clubs were valued at $799.98 total.
