It’s a quarterback driven
conference. It’s a quarterback
driven league. And they went out and got a Hall of Famer who
will start his day by getting
sacked by Jalen Redman, who a year ago was in the UFL. Now in
the first play in Dublin. He’s
got himself an NFL sack. They never gave us a chance to get
into how important the pass
protection is going to be. The at all and they got to back
these defenses up or they’re
going to just tee off. Third and long this year. The
Minnesota defense opponents are
one for 18 against them Rodgers steps up and avoids the sack.
He’ll go underneath and it’s
Jonnu Smith losing two yards. Josh Metellus is all over him.
And it’s an ugly first drive
for the Steelers. This Minnesota defense Brian Flores
De anytime you talk to somebody
who’s going into facing them slide to the right. Give him
four yards on first down it is
Jordan Mason off the right side. And Mason’s got a first down
against this Pittsburgh defense
came in with huge expectations. Steelers defense gets Deshon
Elliott back in the second.
There’s still no Porter. Still no Highsmith. Two catches on
the first three plays for
Jordan Jefferson. And the guy that’s had more yards than
anybody in NFL history over his
first five years gets nine more had my pick, you gave me the
first round draft pick. I might
pick Kevin O’Connell as my head coach if I could start fresh.
Mason again as Darrisaw in
front, has a first down and the ball is out and play. Here
comes Ramsey. Jalen Ramsey down
the sideline. He’ll go all the way. Is he inbounds. He is.
It’s a Steelers touchdown. Wow.
It’s exactly what we’re talking about Joe. This is the entire
scheme of this Pittsburgh
Steelers defense. Hang in there there’s Chuck Clark 21 of the
Steelers after reviewing the
play there was a fumble. However it was touched out of
bounds. Wow. It was out of
bounds. And the band’s returned to Minnesota. Yeah. So that’s a
great angle. So you see Jordan
Mason is actually laying with to Minnesota. Yeah. So that’s a
great angle. So you see Jordan
Mason is actually laying with his left foot out of bounds on
the white. And then the second
that ball is touched by any player deemed out of bounds,
it’s immediately dead. So take
a look here. Jordan Mason for the Vikings. You got the
new football fans watching here
in Ireland saying wait a minute I studied a touchdown and
thought I just saw one. And now
I don’t know what’s going on out of an empty set. Wentz
delivers to Jefferson again
Justin Jefferson with a gain of 22 already his third reception.
And this is exactly what you
want to see out of Carson Wentz. can see Justin Jefferson has
caught a lot of his balls here
early as an inside receiver and Jordan Addison as an outside
receiver. They can use him in
motion. Appeared together down here to the bottom. Wentz is
drilled by a blitzing Queen
Patrick Queen off to a good start in his second year in
Pittsburgh. Here come the
Steelers on third down Queen bunch. You can see from his
reaction he was wide open. If
Carson Wentz sees him he might walk in there for six. Reichard
sneaks it through the right
upright and stays perfect on the year seven out of seven.
There’s an injured player here
on the extra point or on the field goal. And it’s their
right tackle Brian O’Neill a
key guy down in a lot of pain. so line him up in the slot. Use
him in motion. It’s a toss to
Kenneth Gainwell with room off the left side and a nice drive
starter close to a first down
there. We take a look at next of target. And some of these
metrics we just showed Caleb
Johnson comes into the game at running back again. No Jalen
Warren today out with the knee
issue over the middle. He goes here. And DK Metcalf has his
first catch. He goes for 15.
That’s been more that for basic things that they teach
defenders. Since they’re
playing middle school football, those fundamentals never change
out of the gun. On third and
short, Rodgers looks to throw for it. Up top. He goes for DK
Metcalf, beating Jeff Okudah
for a first down and a gain of 17. Well here you go. And this
is kind of what we’re talking
about. Press coverage. He’s O-lineman strength, toughness.
Couple of catches on this drive
and a first down from the 18. It’s back to DK. Fights his way
inside the ten and makes it
first and goal that O-lineman strength and toughness is
hereditary. His dad, Terrence,
was an offensive lineman in the this drive alone. Now into the
red zone where they’ve been one
of the best teams in the NFL. And it has been all Rodgers
through the air down here. It
will be here to Kenneth Gainwell Metellus stops a
touchdown. Looks like Gainwell
started to lose his footing a little bit. And then Metellus
buried him. It’ll be second and
goal. That’s the first come away and say okay but we
don’t have Aaron Rodgers one of
the best red zone passers in football for a long time. To
the ground here. Gainwell is in
for the Pittsburgh touchdown. Steelers I’ll tell you what a
lot of the questions coming in
here in week four around this are left because they were in
bad fits. And all of a sudden
they come play for Kevin O’Connell and they reignite
their career blitz coming here
down the sideline back shoulder throw. And there’s the first
catch for Jordan Addison
suspended the first three games. converted one third and long
this entire season out of 14
tries. The Steelers defense, usually really good on third
down, has struggled this year.
Wentz to throw. He’s pressured from behind and he’s sacked. It
is Herbig getting to him. Two
starts for Nick Herbig and two that was the New York Jets. But
he comes here in his 21st
season, first one with the Steelers and coming off a six
for six drive. He’ll throw to
begin this drive. And it’s DK Metcalf. He’s in the loose.
There goes DK a block from
Austin inside the five into the end zone 80 yard touchdown
Rogers to Metcalf. Touchdown
Steelers. 84 six yeah just a for a first incompletion in
Ireland history. Rodgers nine
for nine. Wentz eight for eight. Third and five. Wentz into a
tight window. Has Thielen for a
first down. Some things just look right Adam Thielen in a
Vikings uniform is one of them
no doubt. And tell you what he Wentz. You got to imagine some
sort of motion jet here. Gets
the handoff to Mason. And a big hole and a first down and a
chance to be a huge play. If
Elliott didn’t make the tackle they get ten. That’s a great
play design. So you know
somebody’s going to move right. Nice job there by Rodgers.
Using all the play clock to
show that blitz. And they bring just four. Still able to
pressure him Rodgers will look
to run. And Aaron Rodgers 41 years old still runs well. Lost
the ball recovered by Broderick
Jones. It was knocked out of Thornhill just made that last
play. So a lot of new faces.
Only three to snap it here on third and long a four man rush.
Wentz has it hit at the line
and intercepted. Deshon Elliott in his first game. Back has the
interception. The Steelers get
their hands on more passes than anybody in the NFL at the line
of scrimmage Derrick Harmon the
rookie was the one to get his paw on that. And there he goes.
Another one of those splash
plays. And you think, can it fair watching you guys do what
you do. Yes, sir. This doesn’t
feel quite as tough. Yeah, we’ll that’ll be after dark.
Yeah. Tune into our podcast
later. Rodgers finds Darnell Washington for his first catch
of the year. He can play some
rugby at 672 65. So keep your you’re our X receiver. But he’s
so versatile. He can do more.
He’s got more yards than the half today than he does any
other half in his career. As
Gainwell gets a gain of nine here. Third and one those six
seasons in Seattle. As
explosive as anybody acquired screen. Why not. Heyward
another big tight end goes over
there and looks like he’s my size. Second and five. Rodgers
gets thrown down. It’s the
second sack of the game from Jalen Redmond. Redmond. Nothing
complicated here. We spend a
lot of time talking about how a row. Back to last season when
he set a Pittsburgh record with
41 total makes on the year. From 30. He gets it blocked.
And guess who. Guy coming off
one of the all time great games last week on defense Isaiah
Rodgers. Flies off of the edge
here and blocks a field goal. trying to find every advantage
they can. And these teams are
playing well. Drive begins at the nine after the blocked
field goal. Wentz dumps it off
to Xavier. Scott and Scott’s got a first down. There’s a
flag in the end zone and it’s
going to be a roughing the automatic. First down the
rookie Derrick Harmon you see
here at the end. He just the double clutch there. And he
just hits him two hands dead in
the face. And he holds his hands up like I didn’t do
anything. And the ref’s like he
said he said yeah you did in not a lot of space. A big part
of that is they’re not rushing
Carson Wentz with as many guys like they have coming into
today. More guys coming right
here though. Wentz trying to beat it to Jefferson. Well done.
Wentz to Jefferson beating the
blitz for 17. Well right on cue catches the first three games
seven in the first half. Here
Wentz is pressured. Wentz steps up and whips one to a wide open
JJ Jefferson stumbles and gets
to the 1230 more for Jefferson. Third down with no timeouts.
Yeah. Now they’re starting with
everybody up here in the line. Only one deep safety. Just
barely get it off floating way
up there for Addison it is slay but he’s out of bounds. Oh boy.
Wow. Fourth down. Yeah I’m not
sure if that was his best get a free five yards. Second
year man out of Alabama.
Reichard set the franchise record last week with a 62
yarder. Has this one right here
from point blank. So the Vikings block a field goal on
one end and score a field goal
on the other 14 to 6. The this 11 personnel, three wide
receivers of Minnesota, it
makes sense to have an extra DB bringing pressure here on third
and long and getting to Wentz.
There is a flag. Wentz is sacked back at the 22 by
Patrick Queen Benton there as
well. Really. Several Steelers the complimentary ball Tomlin’s
talking about to Pam. Third
down Rodgers scans goes outside Gainwell no gain. And Eric
Wilson with a couple plays on
the first drive of the second half. Defensively he’s come in
for Blake Cashman who left with
a hamstring injury week one. 31 today. Third and short. He’s
been pestered all day on third
down here. He gets rid of it quickly for a first down to
Adam Thielen. His second catch
of the day. Both have gone for first downs I’ll tell you what.
They bring him in for a very
specific purpose. They build a could have the same plays no
matter who was in there. Jones
leaves with the injury and Mason’s taken over. He’s got it
here swinging out of the
backfield. And a first down close to the 45. Someone needs
to do a study on like fast back
out of the backfield. It’s not third and pass like it is here
has been a struggle all season
long. Depleted offensive line for the Vikings trying to
protect Wentz. Pressure coming.
He scrambles to his left and he’s got room to run for a
first down. Carson Wentz on
third and seven. Gets 10 or 11 into Pittsburgh territory to
keep the drive going. Yeah
probably an underrated aspect series we’ve seen Carson Wentz
get up grimacing. Try to fall
on that second down and 11. Fake the toss sets up and gets
drilled again. He had no chance.
Swat and Benton were both there to tee off four sacks today for
the Steelers. Yeah I’m not
exactly sure what they’re doing That’s not how you draw, I
promise you that. That’s an
offensive line without the left guard, Jackson without the
center, Kelly without the right
tackle. O’Neill. And then this is picked off TJ what? As
electric of a big play guy as
there is on defense in the NFL. Makes another big play right
there. And so the third down
totals today for Pittsburgh them today. And they’ve set the
offense up at the Minnesota 35
Aaron Rodgers 13 out of 15 today. Gathers the low snap and
finds Darnell Washington. He’ll
truck forward dragging defenders for nine. Back to the
what pit. All right. So it’s
just a great example of you’re when they have they’ve been
nearly perfect. One for two
today. Second and four Gainwell again found room and got inside
the five first and goal
touchdown saving tackle Byron Murphy waited for the hole to
develop and then scooted
through there and bringing an best Le’Veon Bell kind of hit
it. Hit it. That’s a welcome
name in the backfield for a lot of Steelers fans. That guy was
pretty good. He was the best at
that. He went back there all day until it developed. Here’s
Gainwell left side and in for
his second touchdown. Steelers game from ball six off of the
water interception. The
Steelers take advantage of the short field. Yeah nice job Nix.
Nice play design there. You
keep Spencer Anderson. He for Jalen Ramsey. The Vikings
just three out of ten on third
down today. Big part of the issues. They’ve all been third
and long like this. Steelers
put everybody at the line and bring it after Wentz and get
their sixth sack of the game
Keanu Benton having his best game. So think back in the
first half we said the Steelers
had come in blitzing six or well-rounded game here today.
COVID-19 from the 46 a toss to
Caleb Johnson. Johnson with a hole to get eight. Gainwell and
Johnson both getting
opportunities today with Jalen down. Rodgers, now 15 out of 17
today for 178 over 130 of those
going to Metcalf. From the 33 Austin stopped by Turner and
he’s slow getting up. Kevin
Austin five nine, 160 pounds a.m. eastern. Get it down. Moon.
On third and six. Rodgers
retreating, floating to the sideline incomplete. Looking
for Scotty Miller. First time
he’s been targeted all year. And so fourth down coming up
here. The Minnesota defense
doesn’t get the takeaway. They games in Europe. Probably going
to be Wentz for both of those.
And then you’re going to have an interesting decision coming
back. Assuming that McCarthy is
ready to play. Is he got to face the Eagles after returning
home. There’s Jefferson his
first catch of the half. And it goes for 18 yards. Yeah. So
again get up on the ball. Keep
going fast. Just anything you for this front of the Steelers.
They’re going to continue to
pressure him until this Vikings offensive line proves they can
pick him up. Good hold right
there by Corliss Waitman on a low snap to put that one down
for the Chris Boswell field
goal. So they grow the lead to advantage of a banged up, beat
up backup group of offensive
linemen of this Vikings group, Wentz throws to the sideline
for Addison. He’s got it. By
the way. Jalen Ramsey is back in the game. Yeah the Steelers
defense first two games three
sacks last two games 11 six conversation becomes a lot
louder around that Vikings
organization. Second and ten when scans and finds Hawkinson.
Hawkinson drags slay and gets a
first down up. You look at the Vikings. Running out of time.
Down three. Scores. Wentz will
step up and throw to the end zone. It’s a touchdown. First
for Xavier Scott in his NFL
career. And first of the day for Minnesota. It’s a great job.
You see the wide receiver
background by Scott was a wide background in today’s league
man has a lot of benefits. Two
point conversion coming up here trying to get it to ten. Wentz
looks left throws Jalen Nailor
and he’s got it. They convert the two point conversion. And
with 750 to go it’s a ten point
game. So a little bit of life drive. Steelers offense that
has not run the ball well this
year. Tries to grind some clock up ten on first down straight
ahead it’s Gainwell with room
off the right side and Kenneth Gainwell number 14 goes for
that many. Pittsburgh Steelers.
I’ll tell you Gainwell has done down here into the red zone.
This is all different than you
usually expect from these teams. Usually it’s the defense for
the Vikings that’s always there
to provide the big play. And the Steelers have not been able
to grind on the ground at all
this year. Here’s another big hole Kenneth Gainwell inside
the ten. Over 90 yards on the
day in this surprise start for this guy he wants to compete.
He wants to win. He still has
got that fire going man. He wants to finish this thing
right. Pressure coming after
him as he zips it to Gainwell. Stopped by Smith. It’s fourth
down and goal. Doesn’t seem
like you gain a whole lot by goal from inside the five.
Metcalf one on one to the top.
It’s a handoff. And Kenneth Gainwell will fight for the
goal line and get stopped short.
So the Vikings defense comes up with a stop. 409 left to go.
Stays at ten point game. The
Vikings will have it at their Edison to the near side,
Jefferson to the top. 340 left.
Steelers bringing pressure. Wentz finds Jefferson first
down to the 17. Now they got to
go. We got a Steelers player come away with a touchdown here,
that’s the goal. But if you get
into second or third and long, a field goal doesn’t kill you
first and ten, it’s blown
coverage and it’s Addison. He’s down the sideline. He will take
it inside the five. Payton
Wilson saves a touchdown. And that tackle not just saves a
touchdown. But it’s going to
kill I don’t know 20s. It’s an touchdown. Even if you do
somehow get the ball back and
get another possession, third down and issue all day for the
Vikings. Broken up again, Juan
Thornhill this time fourth down and goal offense does stay on
the field. In the last two
plays. It just looks like most. And this needs to be your
best call. Last hope for the
Vikings three to snap it. Fourth down and goal. Wentz
rolls. Wentz will dump it off
for Jalen Nailor. And the Vikings do find the end zone.
It’s a touchdown. And it’s a
one score game with two minutes left. I’ll tell you what they
needed their best play. They
got it. Because this play clock moving. Third and one.
COVID-19 Gainwell not going to
get it. Dallas Turner stops him. Fourth down and about a foot so
they can run it down to about a
minute. Ten here. And remember Need to get to about the 40
yard line to get to within Will
Reichard’s range. First play of the drive. Wentz given time to
the sideline. It is a juggle.
Did he keep his feet in James Pierre’s got the pick. Now take
a look here on replay. He
caught it twice. Did he have because depending on when they
say he gets it, that left foot
is on the ground. An incomplete pass. Wow. Wow. So they saw
something. Wow. Again in real
time. I was wondering. And Getting the play clock reset to
30s second and 26. They got to
get all the way out to the 49 yard line just to get a first
down here. They’ll go
underneath. Hawkinson toppled at the 36. Under 20s no
timeouts. Spike it in. They’ll
have one play to get a first snap right back and they just
keep going backwards. 14
seconds fourth and 18. So everything if you’re Pittsburgh
everything underneath short
inside the numbers when stepping up over the middle
it’s broken up. Deshon Elliott
knocks it away and seals the deal for the Steelers. Steelers
who will get their first win
overseas. They’ve done their penalties it was the pass rush
really the story of the entire
day. They forced the intentional grounding. And that
pretty much all but did it well.
The defense had five takeaways last week to get him the win in
New England. They have seven
sacks today to lead the way in this one. Pittsburgh improves
to three and one, while the
Vikings suffered their first loss in Europe in their
franchise’s history here in
their fifth game. And they fall to two and two on the year.
Those seven sacks, by the way,
the most that the Steelers have

  1. Irishman here, just want to say, I’m glad the NFL was in town because to give me an excuse to hit the tavern on a Sunday night 🍻

  2. People forget while fragile Rodgers is still a freak of nature, so Clicking with Metcalf is no surprise. Metcalf is also a freak of nature. 🔥

  3. That touchdown saving tackle didn't look like a big deal but it was huge because it cost the Vikings almost 2 more minutes to score plus all their timeouts to get the ball back..

  4. at 4th quarter 11:19, how did the Steelers get back possession to kick a field goal when the last play, at 9:36, was a first down for the Vikings?

  5. Vikings online so bad rn and we had some open guys and also our yarded the steelers by a 100 yards so we just couldn't finish

  6. the problem with offering an option like they stay in and party… they know how boring they are, and they couldn't keep themselves entertained the whole night. We are the entertaining ones, so they need the male attention

  7. Only Mike Tomlin could make that game close 🤦🏻
Glad we got the dub but good GOD Tomlin’s gotta go

  8. Miss DK in seattle just imagine if we had him with sam and this new offensive coach to bad he wanted to leave so no is a love hate situation in Seattle with him

  9. Well looks like Pittsburgh has established their steeler defence.. defence wins championships… offence wins games

  10. When the Steelers got to 21-6 I was still worried they were going to screw this up. That's what it's like to be a Steelers fan, I guess. Glad that in the end they didn't.

  11. lions fan here i love aaron rodgers but had to hate him 4 years now i can finally root for him 41 still proving em wrong.

  12. I guess the INCOMPETENT drunk editor thought it was NOT important enough to show the Steeler field goal giving them 24 points? Must have been important to save those six seconds of edit time to take a quick leak. Pathetic!

  13. Such a beautiful day in Ireland, and what a game for Pittsburgh up until Tomlin wanted to start throwing the game… but besides that this was a honor

  14. That's the kind of defense I like to see from the Steelers, ferocious, attacking the line of scrimmage and giving the QB nightmares. Here we go Steelers!!!

  15. The fumble being called because someone touched it out of bounds is the dumbest call I’ve ever heard.

  16. Im definitely starting gainewell next week. Once rodgers trust you youre getting the ball.
