Wade Wawner, the 2024 Charleston City Amateur champion, breezed to a three-shot victory on Sept. 28 in the fourth annual South Carolina Public Links Championship played at Charleston Municipal Golf Course.
Unlike his bogey-free opening round, Wawner had a couple of bogeys Sunday but still managed six birdies for a 4-under-par 68 and a two-round total of 134 in the tournament for golfers who play primarily on public courses.
Drayton Stewart of Charleston, who didn’t enter the tournament until Friday, shot a final round 67 and finished at 137. Cam Wills finished solo third at 68—139.
“I’ve been playing well,” said Wawner, who is a real estate salesman. “I love playing here and have so many buddies who play at the Muni, so this was special.”
