After going at Trey Young for being a defensive liability and questioning how real his stats are, Pat Bev steps back and asks a real question. Did he actually say anything wrong? And honestly, it’s a fair question. He wasn’t just throwing shots. He was making a point about the difference between being a grinder and being handed the keys to a franchise. His co-host sort of admits Pat made valid points. Let’s get back to the clip. I’mma ask you, did anything I said was a lie or wrong? And I and I think you’re a fair guy. I I mean it wasn’t it’s like you argued the points that you could win. You know what I mean? And he argued the points that he could win. You know, I never made it about me and him personally. Though it did feel like that. Yeah. But it was never that. Okay. You know what I’m saying? Yeah. I mean, you were here when I did the take. It all started because open run uh me speaking about do allstars play hard in the all-star game and he said let us speak for himself. Like I wasn’t even you know talking to him. He came in and I ain’t I ain’t going to say but interrupted but he he had something to say. It’s like a argument of era versus era where the inverse of it’s just never going to happen. We’re never going to see era verse era. And I think that they like they’re like, “Oh, well, you know, you have to take a team to the playoffs.” It’s like, “Okay, well, I don’t uh respectfully like it’s not like you’re going to just be like a 20 30 point per game scorer right now and just take a team to the playoffs on on your own.” But I’ve won playoff games. Exactly. So, you know, I get to the playoffs and you know, Giannis is out, Dame’s out, we win against Indiana. Double double. Actually, it’s only me, Chris Paul, and John Stockton at 30 something years old. That is a great point in your favor if you pull up that game. You know what I’m saying? Like that game was you in the playoffs. OKC game one. Every time we played OKC game one, like I I’ve won plenty of games in the playoffs. Patrick Beverly just fired back at Brandon Jennings and Trey Young. And he didn’t hold anything back. After Jennings called him out, Pat responded on his podcast saying Brandon doesn’t even count and accusing him of trying to stir things up for attention. He mocked Jennings for never averaging double digits in the league and told him to either make an NBA team or come play him one-on-one. As for Trey Young, Pat questioned his all-star credibility, saying he’s the guard getting scored on the most, and claiming his stats are inflated. Beverly made the point that he’s had a harder road to the league, one that Trey couldn’t have survived, and reminded everyone that he’s won playoff games, played real defense, and stayed in the league by filling tough roles most players don’t want. He argued that while Trey has been the face of a franchise with all the pressure, that doesn’t mean he has more impact or leadership. Pat says role players like him often last longer than flashy young stars, especially when those stars lose their speed or no longer get 20 shots a night. He’s not backing down and whether people love him or hate him, Pat Bev is letting it be known he’s earned everything and he’s not letting former players or young stars question his path.
