Jack Nicholas. Arnold Palmer was this icon, charismatic. People loved Arnold. Loved him. And I did too. And uh but the people were very, very unkind to Jack. They’d stand with a sign at the back of the green, hit it here, Ohio fats. And I was playing with him at Augusta and he was a third hole and he was getting a paw and Palmer was getting a bogey and they were cheering for Palmer and I hardly a hand for Jack. And Jack said, “The more they do this to me, the more I’m going to beat him.” And that to me, that to me was strength of mind. That was character to be able to uh almost being booed to not booed but almost to the um it’s put

That is another reason Jack is GOAT besides his 18 majors and 19 runner-ups. Tiger could not play when somebody moves slightly or talked during his swing. Jack had unreal concentration. He knew Arnie did not like the treatment Jack got. Jack stuck it to the unruly fans not Arnie.
LOL, good story ô¿ô
So arnies fans made jack better
Jack is a MAGA creep.
They all called him “Fat Jack” in those early years because they hated that he beat their beloved Arnie. But Jack was very respectful to Palmer.
I always listened to Arnie…and he was super respectful to Jack
Who could compare to Arnold? His appearance and gregarious nature …… the quick smile…..there hasnt been anyone since.
If Jack played in Tigers era , he would won significantly less majors
Palmer was a likeable guy

My Son & I attended a Senior Event in North Seattle many years ago. My Son was ten, beautiful boy! We're standing around, here comes Arnie in a white Caddy. I said: "There's Arnie Russ, he likes kids, get him to sign!" (I'm way too chicken) My kid didn't want to, but I nagged him. Finally my boy approaches him pulling his bag out of the trunk. He was so nice & kind to my little boy! It was great! Talked to my boy for a long old time, gave him a ball, spent quite a while with him! My Son is a golf fanatic to this day & I thank Arnold Palmer for part of it!
Player, of course, totally gets what makes a champion. Everybody on the PGA tour has the talent necessary to win majors, and many have the talent to win multiple majors. What distinguishes the greats? Strength of mind. Look at the expressions on their faces (Tiger, too) when they’re playing. Focused, so much so that they almost look angry. Strength of mind. By comparison, Norman looked blank and confused, McElroy looks scared, Fleetwood dejected, and those guys had/have supreme talent. Koepka keeps pace with the more talented McElroy. Why? Strength of mind.
Jack was a great player but Arnie was so darn likeable!
