The sticks behind us on Good
Morning Football, which means
only one thing I’m still in Dublin, Ireland ahead of
Steelers. Vikings. It’s Sunday
morning football happening not far from where we’re at. The
Steelers guys they’ve arrived.
The Vikings players they’re in town. We have a lot to discuss
ahead of this game Kyle what
else do we have on a Gmfb Friday. Well the Steelers are
in Dublin. The Eagle has landed
here in New York City. It is BG Friday we got Brandon Graham
here. The double Nichols. We’re
going to talk about the game Brian how you feeling baby man
I’m feeling good. Got my Tigers
on. You know they got back into the win column. And right now
just excited excited to talk
ball. Lest anyone doesn’t know the Tigers are a baseball team
that is not a Cincinnati
Bengals hat. We see T.O. with the Irish Sea stand back. We
see all kinds of stuff to talk
about. We’re going to do it now. Good morning football on a
Friday. Let’s roll. Come on.
Welcome to Good Morning Football presented by Old
Trapper. Hey. It’s me. I
thought it was Jamie, but it couldn’t possibly be Jamie
because she’s on a different
continent. Everyone just sitting there staring, waiting
for me to talk. You guys think
that’s funny? In LA? It is. We didn’t know. We thought you
were gonna come off the top
rope. Kyle, it’s one of these days. I will, guys. Jamie,
hopefully. Thank God we’ll be
joining us later. But you know what we had last night? We had
a Seahawks Cardinals divisional
matchup that started slow. I understand it ended incredibly.
It ended dramatically. We’re
going to go right into the highlights right now. And then
we’ll talk about everything.
Here it is on the Seahawks. Cardinals Sam Darnold looking
sharp early. Kyler Murray One
of the biggest storylines has been young Marvin Harrison Jr
his second year wide receiver
who has been in kind of a fog. It has not been going well. And
then this was just bizarre.
You’re going to see the interception from Kyler. But I
don’t know if you put this on
Kyler because watch the second angle at the top of your screen,
Marvin Harrison Jr. He’s
running across and just kind of stops. And Kyler doesn’t think
he’s going to. These two were
not on the same page. They weren’t even in the same book.
And you see these faraway
stairs. That’s been the story so far. Meanwhile Sam Darnold
says fine, I’m going to go to
A.J. Barner six six, 250 out of Michigan. Big old tight end.
That is his second touchdown of
the year. And good throw by Darnold. Second quarter. Now
Cardinals have a field goal.
And look at this I mean this is not a rookie receiver. This is
not week one. And again not the
same page book volume series library. And again the stairs
on the sideline. They can’t
seem to make it work. But hold on more of this now Marvin
Harrison guys this is getting
sad a little bit here in this game because Kyler puts this
right on the money. And young
Harrison Jr bobbles it loses it and it’s picked off. You see
these young guys sometimes
right. They can’t find their way BG they can’t find their
way. But you know as the game
go you got to continue to talk to them in the positive. You do.
And there’s going to be a
better ending for them. Meanwhile Darnold looking he’s
taking off. He out the door
from USC. Fight on slides great run by Sam Darnold who looked
calm and efficient for most of
the night. This is a nasty run right here. Watch Chardonnay
boom boom stuns him for the
goal line. Big old lineman help. That was kind of a late tush
push. Didn’t do a convention
like the Eagles. They do it the old fashioned way. BG hey that
was great by the o linemen to
come in and push him up. We love that fourth quarter. Now I
told you this game will heat up,
I promise. It’s currently 17 to 6. Charbonnet with a nasty
little move. But watch this.
He’s going to get called back on a penalty by Jaxon
Smith-njigba who does a drive
by in the official right. Watch the official would you be
talking to me like that when
I’m on a hot mic. Because he had a lot of things to say. All
right Kyler, there’s five
minutes left. You guys have six points. Can you give me
something? Yes he can. Who is
it? Marvin Harrison jr. Look at that. He just stays down.
That’s emotion right? That’s
real. That’s emotion for sure. This guy is fighting through
something between the ears
maybe in his heart. And he makes a huge play over the
Seahawks best corner. So now
they got something going 20 to 13. Sam Darnold trying to put
this thing away. Five minutes
left on the road trying to win against Arizona like they
usually do. Smith-njigba this
is a ten out of ten throw from Darnold a beautiful throw over
the shoulder and watch the
catch and the foot. You will see it again on the replay.
Meanwhile Seahawks can put this
away with a field goal and an actual miss of a field goal
from 50 plus. And 2025 is
incredible. God, those end zones are beautiful too. All
right, so the Arizona has life
now. Jason can’t believe it. I can’t either really. Everybody
makes the kicks on a fourth and
four fourth in the game. Look how ugly this play is. But it
works. All of a sudden Michael
Wilson just puts his hand up. His head wasn’t even turned
around. The ball almost hit him.
That’s a massive play that extends the drive okay. Six
plays later 116 remaining.
Kyler Murray, Marvin Harrison junior I told this thing would
turnaround again going against
Witherspoon. The best cover corner in Seattle and now 33
seconds, 32 seconds. We’re
going to throw it out to our third down back Emari Demercado
from Inglewood, California guys.
And he scores. Now the problem is they scored really fast.
They left over 30s left on the
clock, which I think was a big mistake. And then it gets weird.
Arizona kicks off. You’re going
to see this thing bounce around and you’re going to see a flag.
I’m going to explain why in
great detail shortly. The fallout of this coming short of
the 20 or the landing zone was
that Seattle gets the ball on the 40 with 23 seconds in a
timeout, the 40 yard line. So
you know what happens next. We go up. We get a completion.
That’s Jason again who played a
great second half. And we’re already cooking four seconds
left now. Meyers had missed the
last field goal 52 yards. See you later. Let’s go home.
Seahawks win 23 to 20 a game
that got cooking very fast Harrison more slow motion
reactions. Darnold victory
formation. But again 23 to 20. Seahawks three and one now in
the division. And we have to
talk about the end of the game. And we will. But afterwards we
heard from Sam Darnold and a
visibly frustrated Kyler Murray now at two and two. It was just
all right here we go I’m going
to you know get ready for two minute warm up and just treat
it like practice. I think
that’s at the end of the day. Like when you get in those two
minute situations, we we run
through those situations so much in practice. So you know,
it’s you know, at the end of
the day that’s that’s all I can do is just, you know, be me.
Our guys go out there and not
not do too much and just do whatever the play is called.
And if we got to make an
adjustment from there, we go from there. We got to be better.
He knows that. I know that
whole offense understands that, that we got to start faster and
give and play better
complimentary football, because right now it’s just it’s, you
know, it’s it’s too all over
the place and it’s not it’s not good enough. Haven’t put four
quarters together as a unit,
you know, to go out there and dominate and you see the
flashes. But like like I said
it’s just it’s margin for error is just is so small small. So
we’ve got to be better. You can
tell Kyler is frustrated. It was a great night in Arizona.
The the uniforms, the end zones,
the pageantry were all amazing. The Cardinals down 17 to 3,
getting booed with six minutes
remaining. And then they came running. And this game was
there to win. And they just let
it slip through their fingers like sands through the
hourglass. Manti Te’o, you’re
watching this game really felt like a pivotal divisional
matchup early when you’re
watching, especially the ending. What were your takeaways? Well,
my biggest takeaway is I
thought it looked like the Rams versus Eagles for a little bit,
where it looked like they were
going to run away with it. And then just like the Rams versus
Eagles, it became a really
competitive game in the end. My biggest takeaway from last
night, guys is, is honestly,
and I don’t say this jokingly is Marvin Harrison Jr okay.
Like that’s that’s what I
really want to know. Like when you watch him play this game,
there was a look in his face
where he was almost just blank, like he’s physically there, but
mentally he’s just not there.
Now that’s concerning for me. Why? Because I’m a player that
for a lot of my NFL career,
there wasn’t a lot of confidence there. And I played
like straight dog food for
three years. And so you could have all the abilities in the
world. And Marvin Harrison Jr
has a million times more abilities than I ever will have
or did have back in the day.
But when you saw him in his in his head like that, that’s what
I saw for three and a half, or
we saw for three and a half quarters, and then he caught
that touchdown and the
celebration. I think you could call it a celebration. It was
almost like a relief for him to
be so emotional in the end zone and just just take it in like,
man, finally I got that one.
Guys. That’s not only was that a big play for Arizona, but
that was a big play for Marvin
Harrison Jr because he just looked different after that. He
started to catch the ball. He
started to look like that. That guy out of Ohio State that made
all of those spectacular
catches that was confident even in his route running. I watched
him for three and a half
quarters. Guys just kind of lollygagging himself, really
not be very sudden in his
routes. And all of a sudden this touchdown happens. And
then there’s just this urgency
in his in his route running. So I hope that he’s well mentally
he has all the physical gifts
to be one of the best receivers in this game. But mentally I
hope that he’s able to continue
this this momentum that he had when he caught that touchdown
pass. Isaiah. Well you’re
talking about Harrison I’m going to say old MacDonald had
a defense. They are called the
Seahawks. And these guys are absolutely balling out on the
defensive side of the ball for
the Seahawks. We knew he came to Seattle because of his his
defensive prowess as a D
coordinator out there in Baltimore. But now his defense
is exactly what he wants it to
be. The defensive line for Seattle Leonard Williams,
Jarran Reed, DeMarcus Lawrence,
Byron Murphy. These are big fellas right. When you got
these big boys up front like I
know our boy BG understands and respects, you can do whatever
you want. Defensively these
guys were able to get to Kyler Murray. They were able to put
him down six times on the
ground. They were able to get back there and pressure him 13
times. They forced him to have
two takeaways, throwing the ball 41 times. That means that
there was no run game. Matter
of fact, they only allowed 89 yards on the ground, 41 of
which were from Kyler Murray
scrambling around. This defense is literally stifling. And you
see it on your screen right
there. They’re going to be a problem. Not only were they a
problem for Arizona, but
anybody else who decides that they want to face the Seahawks,
they better buckle up the chin
straps. Brandon, what do you think man? Watching this game
man. You know what? I’ve seen
two teams going at it. But the situational football the
Cardinals definitely didn’t
didn’t win in that situation. They’ve been losing these games
at the last minute. Field goals
off mistakes that they’ve made. They just got to get better. I
feel with the situation, the
ball I know Jonathan Gannon, he’s definitely talking to them
in that room right now in the
team meeting room, talking to them, saying, hey, we got to
get better. We got to close
these games out because like you said, not getting it to the
20 yard line and making them
start on the 40, that’s just giving them the game.
Especially with 30s left. We
can’t have those mistakes. Well, let’s get more into the details
of this because Brandon, you
were all over it. I think maybe this morning there’s what we
used to call like a water
cooler factor, where people around the country are talking
about the term landing zone and
kickoff rules. Let’s get into this because Arizona ties the
game up. The place is on their
feet. It’s loud. It’s crazy. It’s 20 to 20. And then on the
ensuing kickoff this happens.
Let’s go to the videotape. So when they kick off, the ball is
going to land short of the 20
yard line. Watch this. The normal kickoff. And they’re
trying to kick it short
deliberately. But guys the rule is right now this is the facts.
If the ball lands short of the
20 on the kickoff meaning the 21, the 22 that’s coming to the
40 yard line, it doesn’t matter
where it bounces, it doesn’t matter where it ends up. It
comes out to the 40. It’s
hugely punitive. So this happens last night. And then
the Seahawks make a few plays
and basically the game is over. So I understand like we’re
talking before the show. We’re
trying to understand it ourselves. Exactly. And we
follow football because this
happened in real time. The reason they’re doing this and
they were doing it all night
and teams are doing it all over the league is because if you
just blast it into the end zone
or like they did for years and you just blast it through the
end line, it’s also hugely
punitive. It’s coming out at the 35 yard line. So what you
don’t want is you don’t want
them to start at the 35. You want them to catch it, you know,
on the ten or the five. And
then you go down and tackle them. This is the mistake that
they made last night. All night
they’re kicking it past the 20. And it’s kind of like a golf
shot where you’re trying to get
it to land on the green. Well, he was short of the green. And
it’s really a massive, massive
play by the kicker. You got to get it to the 20 because now
it’s just like you almost gave
the game away. I thought Herbstreit on the call was he
was staggered by the fact that
it goes to the 40. It really is emotionally tough. Bring up the
rules right now. This is where
we are at with kickoffs okay. It’s very simple. Or is it if
it lands short of the 20 that
is the landing zone, the 20 or it goes out of bounds, that
thing’s coming out to the 40
yard line. If you blast it out of the end zone 35 yard line.
Both of those scenarios are
terrible. Now, if it lands in the landing zone, meaning from
the goal line to the 20 and
then rolls into the end zone, you got to run it out or it’s
getting spotted at the 20. This
is where we’re at. I almost want to look at the class and
say, are there any questions?
Because I wouldn’t mind if there were. I will just say
this if you’re saying, what are
we doing? Landing zone? This looks so weird. According to
CBS sports, last year, kickoff
returned 32% of the time. This year. So far, they’re 77% of
the time we’re getting kick
returns. We’re getting tackles on kick returns. It’s all
working. So if you wanted more
kickoffs, it’s happening. The problem is last night when
you’re Arizona and you have
this great comeback, the kickoff becomes a hugely
important play. You cannot let
it land on the 21 yard line or you are completely cooked. LA
your thoughts? Yeah, no. This
is something that Isaiah actually had an issue with
before the season even started.
And we had the opportunity to ask some questions about the
rules. And Isaiah asked, man,
there’s so many different scenarios and things that we
have to be aware of now about
okay, where does the ball hit? Okay. We have to make sure that
it’s here. So I think it’s it’s
definitely something situationally that there has to
be addressed for for a lot of
the players. And we saw it two weeks now with the Steelers
doing what they did, where the
rookie ran out of there, the opposing team recovered the
ball in the end zone and that
was a touchdown for the opposing team. So there’s so
many different rules that have
to be aware of. Now there’s a lot of curve balls. As somebody
who was a former kick returner
in the league, trust me, there’s a lot to think about
now. The ball can come out to
the 20, the ball can come out to the 35, the ball can come
out to the 40 yard line. And
that’s not even all the different situations. If the
ball is kicked towards the
sideline, if you put one foot out of bounds, you become an
extension of out of bounds. The
ball comes out to the 40. So there’s so much to think about.
Now, I know that they’re
improving the game in certain aspects, but as you make
alterations to the game and as
you add rules and elements, you’re slowing down the ability
just to be able to play and
play fast, which I know ultimately is what they’re
trying to get to as well. It’s
just give and take. They’ll get this thing solidified at some
point. They’ll adjust. I
personally I find it way more interesting. Do not forget 20
minutes ago what it feels like
you would any kickoff and it goes into the fifth row every
single time you would not see
kick returns, you would not even see guys catching it and
taking a knee. It just go over
their head. It was perfunctory. It was boring. I find this way
more interesting. It did burn
the Cardinals last night though. Let’s talk about news right now
in our great National Football
League. Tom Pelissero standing by. Tom, we’re just sinking our
teeth into kickoff minutia, and
I find it fascinating. I know it’s wheelhouse for you, too.
How’s it going? Let’s talk
quarterbacks, Kyle, for just a little change of pace right now.
Starting out in New York with
Jets quarterback Justin Fields, who returned to practice a full
participant on Thursday and,
barring a setback, does appear to be trending toward returning
to action Monday night against
the Dolphins. He, by virtue of being a full participant, that
means he is now in phase four
of the five phase return to play concussion protocol. The
last step in that is that he
needs to be cleared by an independent neurologist. Still
several days for that to happen.
As of right now, fields is still in the protocol, but
again, barring a setback,
appears that he will be back on the field on Monday night.
Brock Purdy could be back as
well for the 49 ers. Remains limited in practice because of
a left shoulder and more
importantly, a toe injury that kept him out the past couple of
weeks. But Purdy told reporters
yesterday I really like where I’m at, the progress with the
healing up and feeling better
and dropping back and throwing. Coach Kyle Shanahan on local
radio said. I think he’s
feeling better every day and if that continues, he should be
good. On Sunday, the status of
commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels remains more clouded.
SAT out last week because of a
knee sprain. He continues to be limited in practice. Dan Quinn
has made clear from the start
Daniels is only going to go if he can do everything. So as
much as Jayden Daniels would
like to play on Sunday against the Falcons, this is going to
be strictly a medical decision.
If Daniels is not cleared, if he can’t do everything, it
would be another start for
Marcus Mariota. Also worth keeping an eye on wide receiver
Terry McLaurin and running back
Corey Merritt both did not practice the past two days.
Mclaurin’s status in particular
remains very much in doubt for Sunday. Kyle nails. Tom, I
appreciate you. I always find
it interesting the role that the backup quarterbacks play,
Marcus Mariota and Mac Jones
both playing well. Maybe that doesn’t add any more urgency to
the starters returning. But Tom
I know when they do you’ll be all over it. Meanwhile perfect
segue. Carson Wentz starting
for the Minnesota Vikings as J.J. McCarthy rehabs from
injury. The Steelers and the
Vikings. Look how beautiful this is Brandon Graham. You
want to go running in those
fields. I do. I want to play some golf now. Oh really. Hey,
look. Look real nice out there.
It does look nice. The beautiful. We got flowers and
rugby. Somewhere there’s a pot
of gold and somewhere there’s Jamie Erdahl in Dublin. She’s
going to report back. Johnny
Fox’s. That looks like a hang. You want to go to Johnny Fox’s
BG? Oh, yeah. That looks good.
What else we got? Plus we got the game of the weekend guys.
It’s a heavyweight matchup
between the Eagles and the Bucs in Tampa. We have a guest
coming through. None other than
the safety Antoine Winfield Jr. Is Jim happy on a Friday.
There’s nothing like it. Don’t
go anywhere. Good morning NFL network. The NFL is teaming
up with the American Cancer
Society for our annual Crucial Catch campaign. Raiders running
back Raheem Mostert recounts
his battle with skin cancer, stressing the importance of
regular screenings for everyone.
Honestly, I’d never even thought about sun protection
growing up in Central Florida.
You know, being beachside all day, every day. I never really
thought about putting sunscreen
on. Obviously, you know my skin color as well. I, you know, I
thought I was immune to the sun.
You know, you need to protect yourself no matter the skin
type. So when you’re looking at
your body, find anything that looks a little off or regular,
sometimes a flat or large mole.
Bring that up to your doctor and point out exactly how that
has been changing from year to
year. Hey there go the big boys again. Welcome welcome, welcome.
So one message that I hope fans
will take away is that, you know, you should go and get
your skin checked, go and do
everything you can. I think that that’s the most important
thing. You got to remember,
your body is still a temple at the end of the day. I felt like
I could get back in the groove.
Head over to NFL.com. Crucial catch to find cancer prevention
and screening resources near
you and Kyle. That is such an important message. You think
about it. These players are out
there on the field, even fans in the stands, they’re sitting
in the sun even it’s a little
cloudy, snowy. It’s really a great reminder. It’s a great
reminder. It’s a great message.
Coaches, fans, players everybody, I hope you’re paying
attention. I hope you follow
that advice and I hope you are ready for our next guest,
because he is a fantastic,
fantastic player who had an incredible career, finished his
career with over 14,000 total
yards, 75 touchdowns. I remember him vividly coming to
the Chicago Bears out of Tulane,
a fantastic player, number 22 and an old friend of the show,
Matt Forte. What’s up Matt, how
you doing baby? Glad to be here. Glad to have you. We got a
whole cast of characters today
and we’re all smiles seeing you, because we know you’ve always
had something going on. Matt.
From the second you entered the league, you did it differently
from the second you left the
league, you did it differently. But one question will follow
you around for your entire
entire life. What do you make of the bears big time win over
the Cowboys last week Matt
Forte getting Soldier Field rocking. What are your thoughts
right now in the 2025 bears?
Yeah they they’re growing right now and I’m I’m I’m glad they
got their first win under their
belt. I’m glad Coach Ben Johnson got his first win as
well. I feel like they’re in a
groove now that he can kind of mold and shape Caleb into the
quarterback that he wants him
to be and that he can be. He’s got all the tools. You know, I
think up front on the offensive
line we need, we got some some holes up there that needs to be
answered to help us out. But
and we got some injuries on defense. But going forward this
is actually a bigger game this
week against the Raiders out there in Vegas than I think the
last two weeks. Because now
we’re going to see was was last week a fluke against the
Cowboys. Or is this something
real that’s going to continue to go forward. So big was
talking about this week and
going to the Raiders. How do you think they avoid that
narrative of it being a fluke.
What do they have to do after a big game last week to carry it
over that momentum into a
second win in a row? Yeah. You guys know after coming off a
big win it doesn’t really
matter anymore. So you got to go forward this week with a new
mind, a new set and and new
goals out there. But I think the key to this game is going
to be execution on offense
staying in third and shorts, not getting third and longs and
no pre-snap penalties. And on
the defensive side, they got to stop the rookie. They got to
stop the run and shut the run
down. Last week. They were a little lenient or a little
lenient on on the run. So we
can’t have that happen this week. Hey Matt, we’ve seen how
everybody responded to Ben
Johnson last week. Do you think he got what it takes to turn
the corner right now for the
bears? I think he does. I think he’s charismatic. I like his
his speeches that he gives
pregame and postgame and how he inspires the team. I think he
is a good fit for the team. I
think that going forward, he can turn the corner, and I
think it’s just going to come
down to everybody coming together. You know, when it
comes down to leadership, it’s
it’s more than just about one person. So if everybody can
come together and unify and be
able to have that one goal and have a lot more of what we’re
seeing on the screen right now,
that excitement in the locker room after the game, then they
can turn the corner. I think
Ben Johnson can do it. Matt, you’ve had some time to reflect
on your time with the bears. We
know how near and dear that is to your heart. You actually
have a new memoir and it’s
called stay in the Game making the most of Every season. Now
help us understand what spurred
this, what motivated you and what was your process of you
writing this? Yeah, the process
was was in depth too. I went back to childhood all the way
through Hurricane Katrina at
Tulane and through my career, which was a decade long in in
the NFL, but then also
post-career, which, if I’m being transparent and honest, a
lot of guys struggle
post-career. You guys are doing great things. I’m excited that
you guys are on TV and talking
football and taking care of your families, but a lot of
guys that have come from where
we come from and have played the same career don’t always
make it out on the other side
in that way. So I try to draw an attention to what’s
different about success.
There’s an earthly success, and then there’s a success that
looks different, that comes
into significance. There’s a difference between success and
significance, and I want to
draw attention to that. And because it’s not just in sports,
it’s in every facet of life
that you can take these assets that we learn from football of
discipline and and commitment
and dedication and sacrifice that you can transfer into
anything you do in life other
than sports. You’ve always been somebody of significance both
on and off the football field.
Another person that was significant for the Chicago
Bears is longtime your longtime
teammate Devin Hester. You guys had this story how you made the
decision to retire together as
bears. Tell us a little bit about that. Yeah, we we’re both
towards the end of our careers.
And Devin was struggling with a with a turf toe injury. And
when I decided to sign a one
day contract and retire, he called me, hit me up, was like,
hey, I’m going to retire to.
And I was like, well, let’s just do it on the same, same
day at Halas Hall, because we
often actually at Halas Hall. We had lockers right next to
each other for all the years
that I was there. So me and Devin were really close in that
aspect, and our families know
each other. So it was a it was kind of almost a coincidence,
but at the same time, it was it
was like retiring with your brother that you that you
played, played with and, you
know, was out at practice every day with them. And like, I got
to see greatness in, in the
flesh, you know, I got to see the the majority of Devin’s
returns throughout his entire
career and that record breaking and Hall of Fame type of career,
he had just the best man. I’m
looking at these pictures. They’re bringing back memories.
I’m seeing Johnny Knox, Greg
Olsen, Roberto Garza, like all of the OGs and all of these
great players. Matt, I read the
book. I loved the book. I want to tell every bears fan out
there, get this book. It’s
nostalgia. It’s football. And every NFL fan stay in the game,
making the most of every season.
One of the things I like that you talked about, Matt, was you
had a welcome to the NFL moment
on the field, and then you also had one that was not in a game
like, could you just tell me
what you remember about those moments? Because this book is
fantastic, dude. Yeah, yeah,
welcome to the NFL. Was definitely early for me when it
came against Indianapolis Colts
in that 2008 Sunday Night Football game, you know,
playing against Peyton Manning
and the and it was kind of a rematch of the Super Bowl from
oh six, which I was not in. But
it was a big game and nobody was really giving us a chance.
And I broke off like a 50 yard
touchdown in the first half. And I thought I had it made.
And then I caught a screen pass
and was running. And I think Gary Brackett or somebody like
that, I ran and I was like
dragging, dragging him and Bob Sanders, you know, everybody
knows my man almost blew my
shoulder off. And that was that was a moment that shaped me
going forward because I came
out of the game. But I stayed in the game and I actually took
a few plays off and then went
back in and I learned that, hey, sometimes you live to fight
another day, like they say on
Friday. You live to fight another day and you got to go
down and then you go, you know,
play the rest of the game. I hear you, man. Come on Craig,
come on Craig. Listen man,
listen, I can’t help but to look behind you, man. And I see
the chase business logo back
there. And I believe that you’ve partnered up with Chase
business to help support small
businesses. And you’re a part of a big event today to help
further that mission. Tell us a
little bit about it. Yeah, I’m speaking to 60 of the graduates
for the Chase for Business
Coaching for impact here in Chicago. And it’s an
individualized coaching aspect
that each small business owner or entrepreneur gets their own
personal coach to walk them
through and guide them through the ups and downs of
entrepreneurship. And it’s it’s
tough. It’s actually just kind of like playing in the NFL.
There’s always ups and downs,
there’s different seasons. And I can actually speak, you know,
towards this because I’m a
small business owner myself. I started a clothing line called
workhorse, and there’s been ups
and downs within that. But you know you got to continue on.
The grind is something that you
got to be passionate about. And you got to believe in yourself
and what you want to do more
than anybody else. Yeah. Hey, Matt, I’m with you on that. And
I was going to ask you that
leads to my question. What’s one piece of advice that you
would give anybody seeking to
start a business or just have success in general? Yeah.
Anybody seeking to start a
business or have success in general, I’d say you have to be
passionate about what you’re
going to do, and it has to be. It has to be something deeper
than an idea. It has to be a
calling, something that you’re passionate about. And honestly,
the result of it has to be more
than just about you. If it’s just about you, I’m going to do
this because I want to make
money or do that, man that’s going to that’s going to go out
the window so quick. But if it
if it’s helping other people, that’s sustainability right
there. And when you have
entrepreneurship or you start your own business,
sustainability is huge. And
that’s key. That’s a different type of dude right there.
Always insightful. And listen
Matt, I remember vividly that bears Colts game to start off
the oh eight season. Just
thinking like, damn this guy from Tulane can play. We got a
player here with the bears. And
that set the tone for your entire career on the field, off
the field, everybody, if you’re
watching as a bears fan, a football fan, anything, get
Matt’s book. It is fascinating.
Good luck today Matt. People looking to purchase your book.
Tell them one more time what is
it called and where can they find it? Yeah, it’s called stay
in the game making the most of
every season. And October 7th is when it drops, but it’s
available everywhere for
preorder right now. Preorder that thing, slam that button.
And Matt Forte, you are the man.
Good luck baby. Great to see you brother. There he goes. Oh,
there’s no way. This is it.
This is the game. This is first game. Bob Sanders not getting
him there. See you later. Bam.
Let’s go Matt. Give me that. I’m exactly where I should be,
where I want to be. All right.
We just needed to beef up the New York studio just a little
bit more. We are thrilled to
have our next guest back in studio. He was an anchor on the
Saints and Dolphins offensive
line for 12 years. Let’s welcome our friend Terron
Armstead. What’s up baby? How
are we doing. Come on. Good. Look at this. I feel like the
cheese and a sandwich right now.
I love you guys. We got. We got Dylan. Like, you guys have
battled before. You have thrown
hands. Like, what is this, like, to be back together? Should I
just back out of here and let
you go at it? Come on. Nah, nah. We ain’t in that type of shape
no more. It’s all about helping
each other up, trying to get. Trying to get right on TV. Well,
we showed up. We got our. We
got our bunny shirt on. We look good. When you get up this
morning and I love it, you’re
like, this is the shirt. This. And it looks great. Appreciate
it. I like it. How’d you choose
that one? I mean, I’m in the fashion, you know, the big dogs.
We can. We can put it on for
real. Put it together. So I just threw on a little t shirt.
You know what I mean? Ooh,
great. You look great. All right, Brandon, let’s get to it.
What do you want to hear from
this dude? You know what? I want to go. I want to go back
to our battles. You know, I
want I want to see through over the years. Like how they got
some highlights, you know, to
see how we how we look. Do we have some highlights of these
two slapping heads and all that
kind of stuff? What do we have, 28. All right. Talk through
this, guys. Oh, no. Hey, what
do you mean, what’s the matter? I already know what’s going on.
What? Oh, y’all. Wow. Forget.
Get him! Oh! Oh, no. You know, the only part that stuck on
this one is they got the ball
back right here. Sack fumble. And we won the game. And they
won the game though. They won
the game. They won the game. This was a big one right here.
I’ll give y’all all my excuses.
Yeah let’s hear it. Let’s hear him go. Go ahead. So I was out
for the last six weeks torn pec.
So this is my first action. It’s early in the game BG with
a real nice rush. I’m looking
for a pass rush. He got me, but I was I was player of the game
after this game. Let’s go for
sure. Went on to the NFC Championship. You know what I
mean. So so hold on the way
this usually goes guys. And I hope we’re going to go this way.
You you show an unflattering
play for our guest. And then you turn around and you show a
really good one where he
pancakes this guy. Do we have anything or are we just moving
on? I locked him up to. Now.
Let’s not get that. Not forget that. All right. Crickets
coming through. You did. I’m
waiting on that clip right there. Welcome to football.
Here’s you getting beat in a
playoff game I’m glad to have you Isaiah. Take us somewhere
more positive. Are you kidding
me? Today they did you dirty bro. I’m gonna let you know
that right now. They did you
bad on that one. But hey, listen, man, I know we’re
talking about the trenches and
y’all battling going head to head right as the offensive
tackle. You know, what’s it
like to go against a defensive end that wants to get with it?
Micah Parsons is going to town
this week and going against his old team the Dallas Cowboys.
What can they expect from that
dude. And have you ever had any situations where you went
against somebody who may have
had a little extra motivation? Yeah, I can expect Micah
Parsons to be playing like a
man possessed this weekend. He has a lot to not necessarily
prove, but he wanted to show
those people in Dallas that they made the wrong decision.
He had to go somewhere to find
his worth and his value. And they have to pay for it. So
he’ll have steam coming out of
his helmet while he’s in his stance. I do have a story
against a guy. Trey Hendrickson.
Yeah, we were teammates in New Orleans and we had our battles
and we even got into it a few
times. So when we seen each other, he was in Cincinnati, I
was in Miami. Trey wanted to
take my head off like, no question. He screamed at me
during the game. He said to run.
This is for my legacy. Oh. Right. Oh, this man is crazy.
So that game was not fun for me.
How did it go? Like you got we didn’t we didn’t win the game.
I played pretty well. He got me
one time, man. He was a good player. Numbers off the front
of my jersey. I’m surprised our
staff doesn’t have the video of it for you to break down right
now of Trey Armstrong beating
you right now, I’m still I still want to play so badly of
you crushing somebody. It’s all
good. We got to find one by the end of the segment. Kyle, I’m
putting up my own highlights
today. Let’s go. Blocking BG. Yeah, blocking Manti. Yes.
Block him off. Yeah. That’s
what you do for a living. You block people. Highlight tape.
Put me on that I’ll help that
thing because my my goodness this is a great guy and a great
player. Here’s Brandon just
clowning a man. Get in here. Let’s go. Yeah. No that’s my
bro. That’s that’s my dog Tyron.
You know I’m your us. But you also have another use us for
those who don’t know us is
slang for USO which means brother in Samoan. And so I
know he has another US named
Tua. That’s both of our guys. The Dolphins are zero and three,
but he said yesterday that
they’re tired of talking about it and they need to get better.
When you look at this offense,
what do you think is going on with them right now? They’ve
they’ve had their early
struggles, mostly in turnovers and late game situations. Their
situational football has not
been clean at all. The operation getting out of the
huddle and then execution in
late game situations. We have seen the last two weeks for
them to be able to get in the
rhythm, start to move the ball down the field and score points,
but ultimately wasn’t able to
come up with. With the W I see Monday night them being able to
execute early. Let’s get a fast
start. Let’s stay away from the turnovers and get a and get a
big win to jump start this
season the right way. You’re good on TV, man. You’re good on
TV. You really are. I’m sitting
here listening to you. You watch the league. You know all
about this. Just like I’m just
going to ad lib. Look around the league right now. What is
the team maybe that really
impresses you? And what’s the team that you’re like? I’m
concerned about them. Take your
time. Just talk it. Yeah. A team that really impressed me
right now actually. Philly man
talk about why it’s safe to go because they’re the defending
champions. But they just find a
way to win. And no matter what what style of football you want
to play, you can be run heavy.
We can be pass heavy, be a defensive battle. It can be
offensive, offensive, explosion.
They just find a way to win. I saw Drew Brees because he’s
right here. No I know that. But
listen I’m going to I’m going to go back at you. Drew Brees
was out there talking about
drew. We just showed him in one of the clips. And he was saying
he was saying you know I
respect Philly. But like I can’t stand to watch them play
offense. They’re so boring I’m
paraphrasing. But like what did both of you guys think of that.
Well you know I took it as a
little shot, but I understood because as for me as a player,
that’s motivation right there
to go out there and get it done. And I know Jalen and those guys
and coach KP is in there, you
know, trying to make sure whatever happened in the second
half of that Rams game that
we’re going to start it off and just keep it keep building from
there. And I’m excited because
I think the seatbelt definitely need to be taken off. But I
understood exactly what he was
saying. What did you think of that an o lineman yeah I
understand what you were saying
as well, but it doesn’t have to be flashy. It doesn’t have to
have the exotic motions and the
big explosive plays. They’re winning. They’re winning games.
Which drew said that too. Like
you’re not hating on them because they’re winning, which
is ultimately the goal. You
know what I mean? We don’t you don’t have to be the the best
YouTube offense where people
draw all these lines. Those guys are effective. All right.
Well let’s talk about the
headline and we’ll get back to LA. I just we got we got to run
here. Tush push okay. Everybody
talks. Everybody has an opinion. We don’t know. This is the last
year we’re going to see it I
say that word. You can’t. Your body language kind of changes.
You start smiling. Where do you
come out on that? I think this will be the last year we see it.
Should it be? I don’t think so,
man. They’re not doing anything illegal. You know. It’s not
against the rules, so why stop
it? But I think it is going to be banned just off the level of
competitiveness. Like it’s
automatic essentially it’s automatic. And then I don’t
know the injuries behind it.
Like if somebody is getting rolled up more consistently
than other plays. So if that’s
the case, then I’m sure they’ll outlaw it. I think because it’s
hard it’s hard to it’s hard to
officiate. And that’s why they want to get rid of it because
they don’t want to, they want
to. We have little details that you have to see. Like
especially being crowded on the
ball. You got to make sure you’re behind the ball. I get
all that. But since it’s hard,
do we got to get rid of it? That’s why I think that’s why I
think getting rid of it,
because it’s so hard to officiate for a lot of them.
Well, a lot of the reason why
it’s hard to beat is because you got a big old line like the
Philadelphia Eagles has. And
speaking about the O line Tehran, the NFL has a protector
of the year award. This year
I’m going to ask you which o lines are living up to that
protector role this season. I
could easily go back to Philly, but I won’t. The Denver Broncos
and the who’s my other who you
got line. I got Denver and Detroit Lions. Yeah oh my gosh
Detroit. Listen what the
Detroit Lions was able to do to the Baltimore Ravens the other
night. Those tackles Penei
Sewell Taylor Decker those guys played. It was incredible to
watch them where they move the
ball and was able to run the ball. Same for the Denver
Broncos to their one and two
right now. Lost two really close games. But that offensive
line has been playing really
well all 2024. And and to start this season as well. Well we
have sent our staff on a quest
over a decade in the league by far for this guy. Can we get
one good positive piece of
videotape? What did we find? Is it here we go. Is this is this
is you against the Rams. Take
take us through this. That’s that’s nothing. That’s. Come on.
You look good. There you go.
Yeah, yeah. Here we go. It’s all good. Wait I’m dropping my
own tape. Yes. Today the
Toronto mixtape is coming out. I mean, that is pretty nasty
though. You look good.
Appreciate it. Listen. Yeah, well, we have a guest. Come in.
You have guests. Come over. You
have some little coffee cake, maybe some wine at your house.
When Throg comes in. Let’s have
some highlights of him not getting clowned by BG. What are
we doing here? We need some
Saints clips up there. That’s what we. You like the Saints
clips? Old school right there.
They hit differently. Young man I said what I said what I said
you’re great on TV. You’re a
great dude. Incredible player. I know you’re going places.
You’re always, always welcome
here Toronto upset guys. The man. We love him. We bust his
chops. There you go. We love
him. And fashionable as all. Get out. There you go. This
sucks. This sucks. Yeah. Come
on now. Teases get out of here. Yeah that looks good right
there. We’re trying. There’s
Drew Drew’s bored to death by the Eagles but he likes to run
Armstead. Oh. Yeah yeah yeah.
Now we got him picking on the little guy. Oh don’t go to
commercial. Stop picking on the
little guy to big trucks. Mark Ingram running behind Terron
Armstead I got some highlights.
We’re still going. We’re still going. Yes. Finish them off to.
Yeah. I am I am somebody
somebody I may be young I may football snooze off game on
Vikings. Steelers Sunday at 930
eastern only on NFL network. Time for a wake up call
presented by Verizon. Out of
the shotgun. Taylor has it. Blitz is on. Taylor is under
pressure. The ball is out. Did
the Bucs come up with it? The Bucs actually did come up with
the fumble. I think it’s
Antoine Winfield on the hit and feet of fire. Got the fumble I
tell you you called it. You
asked for it T.J. Merry Christmas I should have asked
for it earlier. Yeah that’s a
good player. That’s a good player. Brandon Graham’s over
going and we’re all just
watching highlights. Him hitting quarterbacks. And guess
what. He’s here. He delivered
that sack last Sunday and helped his Tampa Bay Buccaneers
to 2927 win over the New York
Jets. Say hello to Super Bowl champion and Pro Bowl safety
Antoine Winfield Jr. What’s up
baby yeah baby what’s up everybody. What’s up everybody.
Oh dude we love seeing you.
You’re the kind of guy who hits and then smiles about it
afterwards. You’re exactly the
kind of guy we’d like to have here. And guess what, dude?
Three and zero. Three and zero
bucks. Three and zero. First time since 2005. First of all,
what were you doing in 2005,
and how does it feel to be three and 0 in 2005? Yeah,
probably running around in my
backyard playing football with my brothers. Honestly. Yeah,
yeah. Well, how do you feel now?
Three and zero, three and zero. Yeah, I feel amazing. You know
it’s always great to, you know,
be three and zero. You know just got to keep stacking them.
Antoine your defense had a
little fun on Sunday bro. Particularly after a pick six
by Jamel Dean. Now you guys had
you guys did have a little celebration going. How did that
come about. Did you guys
practice it. Obviously Big Vito was in the front doing his
thing. Yeah, Vito said once we
got a takeaway, he was going to go up there and and be like the
captain of the ship and do his
little dance or whatever. So it was great to see him up there,
you know, leading the way after
after Dean got the pick six. So. Hey, Antoine. Hey, so after
that, after that block field
goal. Touchdown. You got Baker Mayfield less than two minutes
away. How confident were you in
your quarterback to get it done. Or at least get y’all close to
get a field goal. Yeah very
confident. And the first three games it’s been like that
offense had to come down there
and score two to win a game. And so it’s been happening the
past three weeks. So once we
got in that situation I already knew what our offense was
capable of doing and what Baker
was able was going to do. Antoine, talking about Baker,
everybody has their takes on
Baker. We see it from the outside. But you were with the
man every single day. Give us
one word that would describe who Baker is and why. Man, you
know the real version. What
does he mean to you on your team? He’s just the ultimate
competitor. You know, he loves
playing the game and he just has that side side to him where
he’s going to win and he’s
going to do whatever he can to win the game and just win in
any situation. But he’s the
ultimate competitor and you can you can see it in the way he
plays. You can see it when he’s,
you know, talking trash to to whoever he’s playing against
and everything. So you love to
have quarterbacks like that on your team. Dude does he is he
talking and chirping you in
practice. Is he does he get down like that? Not not so much
of me. But I’ve heard him talk
to some other people before. Yeah, well, maybe he’s smart.
He knows not to talk to you. I
get it, I totally get it. But you know what I’ve been saying,
too? We look at the Eagles. All
right. We got Mr. Eagle here next to us. They’re the
reigning champs okay. They’re
Super Bowl champs. But I’ve been saying for a while now
that the biggest threat to the
Eagles is Tampa. Because you guys are the last few years.
Listen, you’ve tuned them up a
couple of times. You’ve knocked them out of the playoffs. You
beat them handily last year.
You did a number on Saquon last year. It was just it’s a really
impressive display you guys
have put together. What is it about you guys and that matchup
that’s gone so well for you
Tampa and Philly I just think over the years we just executed
our game plan very well. You
know the coaching staff you know dialed everything up. And
we just executed our game plans
when we played against them over the past couple of years.
Well talking about the Eagles I
think I think it’s been the heat I think. Oh really? Why is
that this time around we’re
going down early so we ain’t got we ain’t going to be
affected by that heat. What do
you think, Twan? Hey, man, I’ve been down here for the last six
years. It. This heat ain’t no
joke. I ain’t going to lie. It’s like you’re right. Yeah,
well, it’s a great experience,
but it’s hot. Yes. Well, plus the heat, your your your head
coach Todd Bowles is one of the
only coaches to say that the tush push was a good play and
was referred to as a hero by
Eagles fans. Here’s what your coach had to say about it. I
think the only place I might be
here is down on South Street and getting the cheesesteak.
Other than that, other than
that, it’s, you know, it’s a good play. It’s a creative play
for them. And we got to get
better as defensive coaches trying to be creative to stop
it. Well there he is. And he
talks about being creative in order to stop it. What do you
think is going to take to stop
that play? Yeah, that’s a good reason I don’t know. It is a it
is a great play and it’s tough
to stop. So you know, it’s so efficient and effective that
that you got to find ways to
try to, you know, stop the plays. But this week 5050 for
that one. Yeah. Well I’m also
looking at you though dude, because the safety is an
interesting position on this
isn’t that you’re kind of I’ve seen guys jump over the line.
They go to try to go. Polamalu
I feel like you have it in you to try to do something nuts to
stop this because of your pride
and your ability that like, not in our house type of thing. Are
you ready to set your hair on
fire and do whatever it takes personally to stop this 100%?
Whatever it takes, whatever it
takes, what do you think it’s going to take? BG this guy, is
this the guy who’s going to
stop the tush push? No one else can. Well, I say that they
already stopped it. But the
biggest thing is let’s just not even get ourselves in the
fourth and ones. Let’s go ahead.
Let’s score a touchdown, baby. Let’s go get em. Let’s go get
him. He said they’re not even
going to need it. Nah, but but yeah, man, you know, your dad
being a 14 year Pro Bowl player.
You know Antoine senior man. What are some some things that
he influenced you in your
career that you still kind of take with to this day? I would
just say his everything. I mean,
I modeled my game around. My dad grew up watching him play.
And, you know, throughout the
years, he just taught me all the lessons that you would want
to, you know, get taught as a
as a young DB and still to this day, we always talk about the
game, things where I can
improve and do better on, but just being really consistent
and always staying grounded
where I’m at and not getting too, too far ahead of myself
and just making sure that I’m
working pretty much every day and just being consistent with
what I do, I feel like that’s
the biggest message behind him. All right. You just showed you
that consistency. You showed
you showed your pops some love, man. And I got respect for that.
But I want you to go back in a
time capsule now. All right? Your dad’s in his prime. You’re
in your prime. Old school
Oklahoma drill. I want you to look into the camera right now.
Talk to your dad and tell him
who will winning that battle and how is that going to go
down? I think I got him, I
think I got him. Pop is good. I ain’t going to lie. Pops was
good. I seen him make some hits
on some people. I’m like, oh yeah, he he was a hitter back
in the day. So one on one I
don’t know. That’s that’s going to be a tough we might
stalemate on that one man. We
got to get like a I to do that or something. I want to see
Winfield on Winfield. Everybody
wants to see it. Listen Antoine before you go, you’ve played in
your career not only with but
against some amazing quarterbacks. Who is the
quarterback that you enjoy
playing against? That’s fun. That’s competitive. That gives
you a challenge. Who’s someone
you look at and you’re like, oh, I love playing that dude. I got
to go with. Probably Aaron
Rodgers, Aaron Rodgers. Yeah. He you know he’s great player.
And then he’s just so calm and
collected. You try to get in his head but you can’t really
get in his head. He’s just so
like calm and mellow and just having fun out there. So I
think Aaron Rodgers is probably
the guy that I like playing against. Yeah. And then they
take him off the field to kick
a field goal in the NFC title game. And you guys get to go to
the Super Bowl. So it all comes
up a win for you guys. But that’s the history. Listen. And
by the way Rodgers has played
against you and pops. He’s been in the league for so long. So
it’s an absolutely great answer.
Antoine you are one of the best players on an undefeated team,
one of the best players in the
league. We love Tampa. We love you and thank you so much for
being here man. Go get them
this weekend. Oh yeah most definitely I appreciate it.
Y’all go get em bro. Keep being
great brother. Stay healthy like that dude. Oh yeah we’ll
be down there soon, baby okay.
Look out, look out. Boom! Good morning. Football. After this
guy that looks clean. That’s a
play right there. That is the where it’s never been. Where
will you take it next? It’s
time for Who scores. Presented by DraftKings sportsbook. Let’s

DraftKings sportsbook. The Crown is yours. So the Vikings
and Steelers there in Dublin,
Ireland. And that is where our Jamie Erdahl is hard at work.
Jamie, what’s going on out
there? Tonight? Yeah, I mean,
guys, fortunately for you and
the editors, they had so many made putts of mine from the
green here at carton House
where the Steelers are saying that they just had a plethora
of made putts to pick from. So
great television sent back to the intrepid staff back on good
Morning Football. Thank you in
Los Angeles for just picking one of the putts that I made.
There were, like I said, so
many. I can’t stress that enough. Guys. We’re here in the
outskirts of Dublin. It’s about
a 30 minute ride west where the Steelers arrived this morning.
The Vikings are in town too,
and they are actually practicing at a place nearby in
Dublin called Ireland Sport
House, I believe, and it’s a rugby home for a team that’s
here. But the Vikings have
taken it over this week. The Steelers are here. Mike Tomlin
has already spoken. Aaron
Rodgers has already spoken and now the team has headed out to
practice. I stand behind I
stand in front of here, one of the two golf courses that are
here at carton House. The one
behind me is called the O’Meara course, and this has been the
home of many Irish Opens. The
mens Irish Open most recently was here in 2005 2006. In 2013,
Rory McIlroy has played this
course in both oh five and 13. And I guess in the spirit of
talking some bleep during the
Ryder Cup, I should tell you that Rory never made the cut
here at the Irish Open in oh
five and 13. So go team USA. And that’s what’s happening
here. Like I said, the Steelers
arrived this morning. They flew overnight Kyle Brandt. And it’s
just beautiful and green and
lush and Irish. And people are golfing behind me. And it’s all
good. Ahead of Steelers Vikings
on Sunday morning. See Jamie will hit you with this. You
know I’m from Minnesota and I’m
so nice. And I’ve got three daughters and she’s so warm and
friendly. And then she’ll go to
Ireland and have receipts on Rory missing cuts out of
nowhere. Don’t sleep on Erdahl
because she will ice you when you’re not expecting it. Jamie.
Incredible putt. It’s amazing.
You did it in one take. Can we push you for more? Can we see
you hitting out of the bunker?
Can we get a tee shot? What will they allow you to do?
Because we want it all. So I
actually did compliment the place as a hole that I did not
get gang tackled when I just me
and my work boots that I’m wearing right now walked onto
that green and no one stopped
me. I borrowed a bag of clubs. Can I have the bag of clubs? I
borrowed this bag of clubs from
some people at the course. I mean, I might just go out and
play 18 at this point. I got
the whole set. I probably need a couple more balls because
there’s a lot of rough here in
Ireland. There is video of me chipping and guys, I just threw
that ball out there because
every single one, as you know, Kyle, I just right down the
fairway just get the ball on
the fairway. And that’s how we do television here. That’s
great. Jamie and Chips I just
picture her with French fries. That’s what they call them over
there. And here we go. A young
Jamie Erdahl on the first green. It’s a left to right undulating
and it’s good earth all loved
by the galleries here in Dublin, Ireland. And there it is the
majestic setting for Vikings.
Steelers your classic Carson Wentz versus Aaron Rodgers
matchup. Don’t go anywhere.
It’s good morning football tradition unlike any other. Mom
I need princess hair. Oh sure
mom’s on a break with a crispy us kids. Time for air and
ground fantasy advice presented
by Fedex. Do you need to pick up an under the radar tight end
this week? Look no further than
Chargers tight end Oronde Gadsden, the second in the week
three win over the Broncos.
Gadsden had five catches on seven targets for 46 yards and
finished with the third highest
receiving grade on Pro Football Focus among tight ends with at
least five targets. If he’s
still available, guys, go to the waiver wire and go grab him,
please. And for more coming out
of Dublin, Ireland, we go to our sister, Jamie Erdahl. Guys,
you look great man. I
specifically love that Irish sweater that you have wearing
today on the show. I missed
everybody and I just want to tell one person in particular,
Kyle, in about five minutes
time when the show comes back on the air, I’m not in my seat.
So you have to welcome us in.
It’s Good Morning Football, presented by old trapper. Beef
jerky. It’s your favorite meat
in the bag. You say hello. Oh, everybody knows who’s on the
show, and then you begin. Okay,
not only will I do that, I have a surprise to start the second
hour that none of you know
about. And everyone’s going to love. Don’t go anywhere. Good,
good. They call me cool. Cause defenses tonight at seven
eastern. On Sunday morning. The
first ever NFL regular season game will be played at Croke
Park in Dublin, Ireland,
between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Minnesota Vikings. I
myself find a day in western
Dublin, 30km outside of the city. The Steelers have arrived.
The Vikings are in town.
Everyone is practicing and acclimating to this gorgeous
fall weather. Kyle Brandt It
will be a perfect weekend for football. Cheers, buddy! Cheers
to you. From Manti, from Isaiah,
from Brandon Graham and myself. We have all kinds of stuff to
talk about right now, all the
games coming up this weekend. But right after the show open,
I’m going to say something a
little bit serious. So just bear with me. Here we go. Good
morning. Football on a Friday.
Come on. Welcome to Good Morning Football presented by
Old Trapper. It’s good morning
football. We are in season. It is currently a Friday morning
as we head into the weekend.
And we are so thrilled to see Jamie covering Steelers Vikings
there in Dublin, Ireland. We
got Isaiah and Manti and Ella and myself and Brandon Graham
in New York. And I mentioned
Brandon Graham because we see this all the time. We have
three of you on the show here
today. The guys who go from the NFL to media and we welcome
them and we learn from them. We
are so excited. But there’s there’s a reason why someone
like Brandon Graham does so
well in media, because he comes with such an intensity, such a
focus, such an energy. And I
just want a little bit I want to show an example of that
right now. I get into work this
morning and here’s Brandon Graham. This is how it looks
right here. He’s got me. He’s
got me, he’s got me. He gone. Speak on it. 55. What are you
doing Vic Damone Jr. It’s been
it’s been a while since I had to get up and be on that
schedule like that. Because,
you know, in football, we always up early. But this time
around, everybody’s getting an
at bat. Everybody gets one whack at the pinata, run the
picture and Manti, you’re up
next. Hey hey hey, hey, that was the same couch that me and
Mike G was on yesterday that we
was having a great pow wow. It’s good to see the contrast
between the two. BJ over there
snoozing. BG Kyle you know, it was good sleep because that boy
had the hands cuffed. Go back
to it. That boy had the handcuff. Oh man I’m feeling
good boy. Jamie. BG I know
you’re in New York. I know you barely traveled 90 minutes from
your home, but since this game
is being played internationally today, I feel like you could
blame the jet lag. Just do it.
Just try it on for size. Okay? Like you’re not sure what time
zone you’re in. You had to take
a nap because you’re all turned around. Well, boy, you know
what? It’s funny because I go
to bed till 12 last night. Oh, 12. That’s crazy. Knowing that
I had to be up at three just so
I could make it. Make it out by 4:00. Can I give you guys some
back story to this? Okay. I
come storming into the office. I’m not exactly quiet when I
get in her. Okay, bring the
picture up full. This dude is so asleep. He’s not just
nodding off. He is an REM. Oui
oui oui oui oui oui oui oui oui. I took the picture six
different times. I took one
right up in his face. I’m stepping away. I’m doing a
whole Leibovitz photo shoot.
This dude didn’t even stir. He didn’t? Were you dreaming? You
could see the position paper.
In the paper. I see the paper in the back. I’m like, hey,
look at this. Let me. Let me
see the paper so I can know what we’re doing. Boy, the
script didn’t even make it. I
was like, where’s a cup of coffee? A cup of coffee? Go get
a cup of coffee. Go in that
second one, the cup, the cup of coffee. There was a cup of
coffee on the ground. And that
one. Now it ain’t on the ground in that one, bro. Yeah. Come on
guys. Hey, I am B.G. You’re
supposed to drink the coffee, bro. You’re supposed to drink
it so it keeps you up. It might
have been. I know that’s a real that’s og. The thing is, you
got Isaiah. All of us have kids,
right? So all of our kids cover themselves in a different way.
My daughter used to do the two
fingers in the mouth like Maggie. Right? Some kids have
the little comfort blanket.
That boy BG just like. Oh he gone, he’s sleeping. He’s
sweeping. Morning show bro. I
mean, you got your hands full like you’re in a casket. It is.
Oh all right. Well do you got
all your night night time Brandon Graham. And you come
here and you give us that big
smile. You know what? It’s training camp for me and this
right now. That’s training camp.
Sleep right there. Yep, yep. Yeah. Thank you for that. All
right, guys, let’s all do the
pose and we’ll get to the highlight. All right Seahawks
Cardinals. Maybe that’s why he
was sleeping. He’s staying up watching this electric
entertainment on Amazon Prime.
Sam Darnold he’s making it work guys Kyler Murray is he making
it work man. He’s trying. He’s
having some problems with his wide receiver one. But down
seven late. They’re going to
check it down and tie up the game early. They came running.
Look 28 seconds left. So we’re
going to get some overtime right. Well not exactly because
we talked about this a lot in
the first hour. This is fascinating. After the
Cardinals kick short of the
landing zone and give the ball to Seattle at the 40. It’s just
a matter of one throw out to
Jason. And then we’re going to get up on the ball 13 seconds
six seconds. We’re ripping
smelling salt as a kicker. Wow. You don’t see that much even on
the field. But it works. Game
over. Seahawks win a lot of scuttlebutt about kickoffs and
about the setbacks of Marvin
Harrison Jr, who did come running late in the game. Make
a couple of big plays. But he
also led to two interceptions early for Kyler Seahawks. 3 in
1, 3 in 1, folks. Afterwards,
our colleague Bridget Condon from NFL network caught up with
Seahawks quarterback Devin
Witherspoon. A lot of players I spoke with on your team this
week told me that they wanted
to show the world what you’re capable of saying they knew how
good this team was, but maybe
not getting the national recognition. What did you show
out here that the Seattle
Seahawks are? I mean, you got to play for four quarters. I
mean, we just put it on tape. I
mean, I think other teams around the league know what’s
going on, especially on this
defensive side of the ball defense side of the ball. But
we played team football over
here man. We don’t single nobody out. We just come out
here, play hard, play physical
and you feel me? We just come out and play four quarters
together as a team. You know we
got to need each other’s backs. So when it’s time to step up,
the other side got each other.
So that’s how we do it over here. That’s how they do it
over there. How we do it here
is talk about games on a Friday. And look Manti hold on Isaiah
Stanback. Let’s talk about the
Packers game this weekend Isaiah Stanback your thoughts
on the green Bay Packers
heading into this weekend should be very quiet, man, said
T.O. Talk about oh I don’t know
the Steelers. Oh look man my eyes up here buddy. Wake up
wake up wake up wake up, wake
up, wake up. I was up till midnight, guys. All right there.
Yeah. We’re good, we’re good.
Yeah. We’re back. What are we talking about? Packers. Packers?
Cowboys? Yeah. Just pick a team
and talk about it. Whatever you want. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I need
the Packers to win, guys. I
really do, because I did choose them in my Survivor Series. So
I need the Packers to win this
Sunday. Now I do I have gone against the grain on my picks.
However, I do know that the
Packers are coming off an upset loss last week to the Browns.
So I do think that they’re very,
very hungry. Also, I do know Micah Parsons is going back
home to Dallas, so I expect him
to put on a show there. And Jordan Love in that offense, it
seems to be their gelling there.
So that’s what I’m looking forward to seeing in this
Packers show showdown down
there in Dallas. It’s going to be crazy, man. I watch a lot of
film in regards to Dallas
Cowboys because I work obviously on their platform. So
I, I believe that this game is
going to be closer than people, you know, believe that it’s
going to be. I think that the
defensive line for the green Bay has an advantage over the
offensive line for Dallas, and
that could present a problem. Dallas is down to their second
center and their third right
guard. That doesn’t bode well for a defensive line that likes
to line up Micah Parsons over
the interior offensive lineman. So I don’t foresee that being a
good thing for Dallas. They
have to figure out exactly how to get their passing game going
without CeeDee lamb. I think
green Bay most likely comes out with the dub on this one. Last
time they were in AT&T Stadium,
it was in the playoffs and they did not end well for Dallas.
Yeah. What do you think? Well,
I feel it’s going to be the same thing as playoffs, man,
because you let go of one of
your best players on your team. Then you got CeeDee lamb who’s
hurt right now, who’s who you
really need in this type of game and this type of
atmosphere, especially at home.
Then Micah still has his suite in his in he has a suite. And
man, I know he’s going to have
a bunch of people up in there every cheering them on, going
crazy. And it’s a statement
game for him. This is one of them games where it’s going to
be demon time for him. He’s
ready. He’s ready to go after. Why can’t I think of Dak
Prescott. He’s ready to go
after Dak and go get him. And I can’t wait to see him go off
because I know that feeling of
man I never went nowhere else. But I remember being mad at the
Eagles and wanting to go
somewhere else. But I know what I would have felt like if they
if they shipped me off,
especially because they didn’t want to pay me, and then I’m
gonna make them pay for it. And
a guy like Micah Parsons already showed us why he’s the
best player on that field, and
why he’s going to show them this weekend. Tell me more
about that. Brandon, like you
mentioned it, you played the Eagles your whole career. You
almost didn’t. And you even got
triggered. Yeah, he straight up before the season was traded
for draft picks not even
players draft picks. And now a few weeks later he plays them.
How’s he feeling? He’s feeling
good. He’s like, thank you for for shipping me off to a team
that at least y’all gonna play
so that I can show. Man, y’all made a big mistake. And Micah,
I’m with you all the way, man,
because that’s a that’s that’s it’s business. But at the end
of the day, it’s never personal.
This all still business for him. But he’s going to go out there
and make some more money by
probably going to get three sacks in this game. Well you
mentioned something too. I
think it’s fascinating for people at home might not
understand. Tell us about
Micah’s sweet, how he still has it. Why does he how does a
visiting player have a suite in
a stadium? He’s not even playing for that team. Well, I
don’t I don’t get that part. I
don’t know, I don’t know that that’s kind of crazy to me.
Just seeing just seeing that he
still has a suite, but at least he’s still making money because
I’m sure on days he’s not there,
which is only this week when he’s he’s only there this week.
And then afterwards he’s
selling selling those tickets, hopefully. All right. So all
right, listen the we mentioned
this yesterday who we want to hear from after this game I
just feel like and Isaiah I
mean you’re tapped into this. It’s one thing if the Packers
win or whatever. Yep. If Micah
Parsons goes and has like two and a half sacks and a strip
sack or fumble or something
like that, I, I want to hear from Jerry. But you know what?
You know what I think Jerry’s
going to be doing after the game. We have actually a
picture of it here’s going to
be Jerry Jones after the game. If Micah Parsons has two and a
half sacks, there he is. Mr.
Jones is not available for comment at this point. And
they’re knocking on the door.
No. Mr. Jones, Mr. Jones not available for comment. That’s a
meme now, bro. That’s
everything. It’s out there. It’s out there now. They
definitely about to tag me in
that one. Oh, that’s a good one. Internet take Brandon Graham
and his beautiful orange
sweatshirt and his little baby hands and just run with that
Jamie Erdahl get in here from
Dublin. Look alive. BG you can’t come in here and behave
like this on the set of Good
Morning Football and not think that Kyle Brandt is coming for
you. BG I need you to and I
know you can work harder, grind harder, find something that you
can document of Kyle and put it
on the show. Because there is no other way to play this game
sometimes than to just volley
it right back at him. So, BG, I have faith in you. Okay, buddy,
you got this, I got this, I
promise was like they saying taking good luck. Good luck.
Come and get him. Yeah. Yeah I
was just going to mention that this this is going to be
personal I know, I know, I know
you said it’s all business I will it’s personal now. Yeah.
No, listen, that also could be
a documented photo of what some of the players feel like coming
across the ocean. The Steelers
and the Vikings. They’ve arrived in Dublin now and they
always try to sleep on the
flights. But essentially what we’ve learned from these teams
when they do this is it doesn’t
matter what you do on the plane overnight, you are going to
stay awake when you get here.
The coaches for both of these teams are on a mission to get
these guys in sunlight, to make
them practice, to keep them moving, because the second you
put them in traffic on a bus,
they’re going to look like Brandon Graham cruising around
town in Dublin. So they try to
keep these guys awake and get their blood pumping so they can
get on some sort of optimal
sleep schedule tonight. So the Steelers are here. We’re at
carton House. It’s where this
team is playing. Other teams that have come and trained here
in western Dublin, Newcastle,
Real Madrid Chelsea Football Club. So this is a prime spot
for some of the most elite
athletes to come and practice. The Steelers are here. The
Vikings are elsewhere in Dublin.
Since the Steelers are here. We were able to attend Mike
Tomlin’s press conference as
well. And Aaron Rodgers availability. And the
quarterback spoke about a lot
of things that he has discovered about his time with
Pittsburgh. But there is one
truth that will remain for him, and that is something he will
consume. The second he steps
foot on Irish territory. I like my Guinness on tap. I haven’t
seen any taps around here, but
I went to years ago. I was on the island in a different
country on this island, and I
had to go to four different bars to find Guinness on tap,
so I’m hoping that’s not the
case tonight. Aaron, you taught us about Andy across the pond.
He talks a lot about the off
season, about wanting to work with Coach Tomlin. What has he
been like so far to work with
since you joined Steelers? Better than the expectation,
honestly. And the expectations
were pretty high based on what I’d heard about him. But he’s a
great leader, great in front of
the room, the epitome of a player’s coach. And that he he,
you know, stresses the
importance of accountability. But he has a personal
relationship with guys in a way
that he does very effortlessly. So it’s been a lot of fun
working with Mike. He’s a
fantastic guy, fantastic coach. And and it’s a great
organization to a couple other
things that Aaron Rodgers spoke about in his time, with his
availability with the media
here. Is that like he mentioned, he’s been to Northern Ireland.
He has been around and actually
golfed in a group behind Rory McIlroy, who of course hails
from Northern Ireland. So he is
aware of obviously the most elite athletes at their game.
Now, the other thing that was
asked of Mike Tomlin ahead of the game this weekend is if
Tomlin was aware of what this
Brian Flores defense did to Aaron Rodgers last year with
the Jets, which is throw a
handful of interceptions and pretty much turn that Jets
offense upside down. Tomlin
admitted that yes, of course he’s going to look at that tape.
But also the last time a Brian
Flores coached defense went up against an Arthur Smith led
offense. So we are really
getting into the weeds here. Since these two teams have
characters that are very much a
part of their team kind of crossing hairs. Kyle, all over
the NFL preparation is a must,
especially if you are going on very little sleep like Brandon
Graham knows all too well. You
know it. But Jamie, you are on fire. I feel like you got 12
hours last night. Even though
that’s not the case. It sounds like that’s the case. Now.
Please do what you do. Get in
some adventures, get some high jinks. Give us some color. Back
from Ireland. You’re doing
fantastically. And we’re going to follow up on what you did
yesterday. So there’s something
called splitting the G. And it involves Guinness that Aaron
Rodgers just referenced, where
you drink a Guinness until it stops right in the middle of
the logo. It’s really difficult
to do. Jamie tried it twice and she kind of left it short both
times. I know she’s been
kicking herself about it, but she gave it her best try. I’ve
never tried before. Brian. You
ever tried that? No, I never tried it. Alright, well, we’re
going to do our own version of
it on Good Morning Football right after this. What NFL
player needs to hit the mark
perfectly this weekend? Plus what else. Manti Te’o plus week
week three. We saw the bears
get their first win. How does Caleb Williams and the offense
follow it up Sunday they are in
Las Vegas. Do they get win number two. We will discuss
this with bears legend and
longtime friend of the show, Matt Forte. It’s Gmfb on a
Friday. Let’s go. You know Good
Morning Football is presented Red bull gives you wings. It’s
a true honor here on Good
Morning Football to not only be in Dublin, Ireland, ahead of
this Sunday morning matchup
between the Minnesota Vikings and the Pittsburgh Steelers,
the first ever regular season
game. Even though the Steelers have quite a history in this
country, regular season is the
most important part of this. The scene is gorgeous. We are
in front of a golf course where
the Steelers are staying and practicing, and I am now joined
by a new teammate of mine, Pam
Oliver, who. Good morning football. First time Pam first
time. Thank you. We’re honored
I’m great. And it’s so great to be with you. We’re going to
work Sunday together. I can’t
believe this. Is this. What is your history? Working sideline
on international games. I did
one London game. It was years ago okay. And that was. That
was one and done. One and done.
Well. Now they’re bringing you back for a pretty important one.
It just feels like there’s such
historical context and importance to this. As I
mentioned, you’ll be on the
Steelers sideline. I’ll be on the Vikings sideline. But let’s
talk about the Steelers a
little bit shall we. Specifically people kind of
love the history that you have
with the quarterback of the Steelers now. But a lot of that
had to do with his time in
green Bay. Do you have a rough estimate of the years or the
games covered of Aaron Rodgers
in his time with the Packers? It was his entirety. Yeah, it
was the entirety while he was
behind Brett. So it would have been the whole thing. We. Yeah.
Every now and then we’ll talk a
little bit about it. But just to watch him start finally
behind Brett and watch his
ascent and watch him grow, it was really special to me. He’s
one of those guys who, like you,
seem to have a great rapport with him, and I do. And, you
know, I’m really happy about
that because he doesn’t let a lot of people in. Yeah. And
because of that, you really
just have to be true to what he is. And he’s different. You
know, he’s mercurial. He’s
interesting. He’s a lot of things. So to kind of watch him
rise like that, it would have
been immediately after he started. How do you think that
happened for you specifically?
Was it just as in football terms, time on task? Was it do
you have a moment or a a part
of his life or your life even where you really felt like the
friendship was established?
Yeah, there were a couple of things, but it’s more recent.
It’s been later, I think, in
our relationship that because we were both looking at each
other, knowing that this is
going to end soon. Yeah. And you just want to show
appreciation to a person that’s
meant a lot to you as a professional and some of the
things that he’s been able to
do. And I think he looks at me and he thinks that’s someone
who’s been fair. That is my
greatest goal with any kind of player relationship is just to
be fair and to meet these guys
where they are, and instead of like, well, why isn’t he doing
the media this week? Sure, you
know what? If you don’t want to do it this week, cool. Yeah.
He’s human. I’ll get you next
time. So I think that that has a lot to do with why our
relationship is it’s an
important lesson for anyone. Frankly, getting into
television or sports is to be
fair. So I want everybody to hear that. And it doesn’t just
pertain to Aaron Rodgers.
Something else you said struck me, which is in his time
backing up Brett Favre. And we
chatted with him about this a little bit in our time with him
ahead of the game on Sunday,
which is we are really in an era right now with young
quarterbacks where everyone is
obsessed with. Should you start them, should you bench them,
how much do you rest him? Yeah,
that’s a tough one. What do you remember of Aaron at that time
when he was behind? Because
it’s easy to look back and be like, I was happy as a clam
sitting behind him. What was he
like? He was impatient. Impatient? He was impatient.
There’s no end in sight when
Brett Favre is in front of you and he’s performing at a high
level. So what’s next? When do
I get my shot? I think he he was a good soldier and all of
that. And how helpful was Brett?
I mean, that was always a topic of discussion. But Aaron’s
mentioned some things about
that. But with the young quarterback controversy
questions, however you want to
put it, he’s got great, great things to say on that. And you
know, he’s speaking from a sage
position. And it’s an interesting conversation. It’s
a fascinating conversation to
hear how this veteran quarterback looks at putting
these young kids in, because he
had the benefit of waiting. He mentioned Jordan Love having
the benefit of waiting. So I
think you look at that and you look at the roadkill. Yeah, for
lack of a better term, roadkill.
Yep. Yeah. It it’s it’s sad, but some of these organizations
you just got to look at that
organization and figure out what they’re about. It’s an
oftentimes mismanaged situation.
You’ve seen it all though, which is is I really it feels
like it, but in a way that you
can tell really beautiful stories and you can identify
the fairness and the roadkill
along the way. And because of that, because of how you’ve
handled yourself in all your
years, you’re going into the Sports Broadcasting Hall of
Fame in December, are you not?
I am, congratulations. Thank you so much. It I got that call
Jamie, and I was beside myself,
I was teary, I was calls were coming in and it just doesn’t
seem like I’ve been at this
long enough. I know I have, but it just feels surreal. And I’m
in some excellent company and
it’s really heady stuff. But I’m. I’m honored that they
looked at my body of work and
said, come join us. Well, again, it’s congratulations is not a
large enough word to say to you
when it comes to this accomplishment. But what I have
known of you now in watching
your work and also getting to know you in our time together
ahead of this game, what I’m
observing is that your body of work was honored because you
are the same person on and off,
and I think players and coaches recognize that the people that
watch you on TV recognize that.
I know growing up in Minnesota watching you and Vikings fans,
they love you for your coverage.
So once again, on behalf of Good Morning Football and I’m
speaking for all of us.
Congratulations. So cool that this is your first. Oh I’m so
watch this Sunday. We’re going
to kill it. Yeah we are fairness in hand okay Vikings.
Steelers. We’ll be right back.
Said if you’re going to play

The Eagles cannot be stopped because they're showing themselves that they're the best football team in the NFL. 💚🦅
🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤super இல்ல like
Very afc centric show
Tommy P…….appreciate the 49er update
That official hates the Seahawks 😂
Come on Craig had me laughing lol 27:34
Kyle. There was nothing dramatic about last night's game. It was the same as so many. Well played only. About time Harrison held onto a pass!
Kyle Brandt talks to the audience like we’re all ignorant of sports and rules. It’s annoying and unbearable. He over-explains and uses twice the words needed for every explanation or comment. Why don’t they fire this jerk? He is truly the most annoying man in sports.
Seahawks?
Seattle defense still the only defense has not allowed a rushing TD this season

I'm a buccaneer fan but I think our winning streak will end on Sunday. My gut feeling is a big win for Philadelphia. But I'm hoping for the big buccaneer upset
I need that hoodie Manti!!
These new rules certainly make kickoffs more exciting. A big improvement. Did you notice that both of the kickoff returners for the Seahawks knew immediately that the kickoff was a penalty to their benefit? They know the rules. The Rams are doing it best, though. Their kickoffs are hard to catch and seem to land perfectly every time.
How bout more diversity on this show multiple black ppl only one white dude geeze
Sammy D = hybrid of Plunkett & Thiesman. Who also had rough starts & then won SB's.
Sam has most gane winning drives since Sep 2024 = 7 in 21 games @ 34%.
& he plays behind the youngest least experienced OL & RB/FB/TE stable.
HC MM = Joe Gibbs 2.0 who also was an amazing road winning HC who unearthed hidden gems like J.Jobe & D.Ken & T.Knight etc
Thank you so much on this beautiful evening 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Both teams will be hammered at the pub asf
Philippines Bills Mafia loves Ireland & Notre Dame BUT WE DONT LOVE Steelers to win this game. Go Vikngs for Notre Dame sake!
Ouzts placed on IR after 3 sizzling games. The Seahawks had to find a way without their rookie Full Back (Rd5 draft) and get the win!
