Bubba Wallace isn’t actually retiring — but his old tweet about SVG qualifying ahead of him stirred up NASCAR Twitter. At New Hampshire, SVG did qualify top 10 and showed real pace before wrecks took him out of contention.

The real question: if Shane van Gisbergen starts figuring out ovals, what does that mean for the rest of the Cup field next season? Between SVG and Conner Zilisch entering the mix, road courses might not be the only battleground anymore.

Is Bubba Wallace retiring from NASCAR? If you’ve seen it on Twitter, you’ve seen the tweet from Shane bringing up an old tweet from Bubba Wallace that said that if SVG ever outqualified him, he would just go ahead and retire. Now, we know that’s a joke, of course, and Bubba Wallace is not retiring, but it brings up the fact that Shane did qualify 10th at New Hampshire, and it was a very good performance from SVG on an oval. And in fact, he had pace during the race. the first part of the race he was keeping it up there with the front runners but unfortunately due to wrecks and issues with the car he of course finished down near the bottom of the bald the drivers out there but my question is if SVG starts figuring out the ovals and is he figuring out the ovals what does that mean for next year we have Connor Zillich coming into the fold so we know he’ll have some competition on the road and street courses and he may not be as dominant as he was this year with the winds maybe he will be maybe Connor will take a year or two to you know figure out the car It could be the case, but if SVG is figuring out ovals, I think that is a very dangerous prospect for every other NASCAR driver out

  1. So from what im gathering, Shane is figuring out flat ovals with tight or heavy downshift turns, as the turns are similar to his bread and butter. He knows how to turn better than anyone else one a turn like the carousel at watkins glen, the hairpin at sonoma, and every tight, winding turn at COTA, Chicago, and Mexico. New hamoshire is a good example of applying his logic to just left turns. I feel like he could make a splash at Martinsville with this logic, and down the road maybe even Gateway and to lesser extent, Iowa and Richmond,
