The Race to Dubai is back and this week marks the return of the Rolex Series at the BMW PGA Championship, with an impressive international line-up made up of Major champions and upcoming Ryder Cup players. All seven players to have won the BMW PGA championship during the Rolex Series era are in action this week, including Shane Lowry, Ryan Fox, Francesco Molinari, Tyrrell Hatton, Danny Willet, Alex Noren, and Billy Horschel, who is back at Wentworth despite having hip surgery earlier this year. Horschel will be aiming to defend his title after last year in which he came out on top against Rory McIlroy and Thriston Lawrence in a dramatic final round and play-off. BMW PGA Championship debutant, Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen is one of the players to watch, with a course that could work in his favour, however with a career grand slam in his pocket, could McIlroy take it one step further this year and take the title?
Welcome to the Official YouTube channel of the DP World Tour. Every week you can find extended tournament highlights and individual player highlights from the likes of Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose and Tommy Fleetwood. This is also the home of the 14 Club Challenge, Little Interviews, Fastest Hole and many more challenges, pranks and world record attempts featuring the biggest golfers in the world.

This is a little bit more like what we’re used to seeing on the opening hole as balls scattered all over the place and paths tough to find. on England. Matt Despat fresh off his RDER Cup selection. Something he well and truly played his way into. Fast swing, brisk with the rhythm and Alo straight. All [Applause] right, just finds that little step cut, little question that they will enjoy. What is a dream home for golf on the DP World Tour out there today? As Jamie Spence mentioned, the wind does flutter around in the tree line here at Wentworth. It’s hard to pick at times. That’s a nice opener for Fitzy. Little bump and run from Ludvik. Everybody getting caught out by the slowness of the greens and the softness of the uh conditions this morning. That being said, we’ve seen a few eagles over the years to collect the silverware. Horshaw last year against Maro, I seem to recall, breaking the hearts of many, but that’ll fill the heart for Matt Fitzpatrick. Opening birdie up the hill. Maybe just inside right for Ludvig. Just needs a nice firm hit. You make a four the opening hole on the west course here. Wentworth. You should always be happy. Poor Reed for me and from Obeck. One of my favorite swings this young man has. Speed of play is very nice as well. That’s a beauty. Beautiful iron player. normally. Is it hanging on the right? Oh, it’s a bit long. Oh, that’ll be a tester. You’d like it there in the next three days. It’ll probably up the back of the cream the pen, but today it’s on the front and that will be very difficult. A wonderful drive from Moberg. It’s just such a beautiful player. Came into the Rider Cup in Italy. top 10 in the world. Hadn’t even played in a major. He’s just pushed that one into the bunker. Might be okay. He did have a very good chance to win this championship on debut. Faltered, you’d have to say, in the last uh nine or so holes. Really nicely done. Quite a tough bunker shot in firm fast conditions but little easier today. Will it feed naturally linewise towards the hole? Just about. Nicely done. Let’s feel the cold. Matthew bobble hat on and jumper. We’ve seen others in t-shirts this morning. Lovely two pot from the back of the green at three. A lot of them had threewood from this, don’t they? They maybe not getting enough run. Yeah, conditions requiring the uh the big stick today into this breeze. But yeah, a a little draw required off four. don’t have to have it 18. A cut off the 18th is preferable, I think, to guess around the corner, but not really. It’s a positional golf course all in all, and then most of the players are hitting to the same spot on many of the holes. You can hit a straight ball if you so choose to flirt with the trees. This one will be right rough. I’m fairly certain. It’s amazing how often the crowds do the players a favor there. You just bobble across that car path and into one of the mansions in a heartbeat. Good chance to get it back here. Possibly even get under par if he can hold this big ask would contribute,000 to the golf foundation. not to be, but that will be added to throughout the week as we uh do Eagles for Education against the BMW uh group will donate £1,000. The official charity of the BMW PGA Championship is the Golf Foundation. That slings from right to left. Tricky section of this green to access. Wberg down the green outside left. Will it turn? Yes, it will. Lovely puck. He gets back to level just off the right edge. Very nice. Very nice. Very difficult. Patrick, might be five. Not sure. Lovely swing. Watching it intently straight at it probably. Perfect line. Should release down a little bit. There’s a wonderful story of an Australian boy that does seven opens consecutive of opens. I’ll give you the answer after this beautiful swing. He built his own uh I don’t know what you call those furry things that they hang out behind them. Fairy Mike. Furry Mike. That’s the one. He built his own and he slipped in under the under the ropes for seven consecutive open championships with the final group. Got away with every time. Great angle for Fitzpatrick here. Should be off the right hand side. He’s not hit it hard enough, has he? Quite brisk routine for O. It’s a different putter as well. They’re all changing. I can see why. Excellent birdie for two in a row. It’s back to one under or gets to one under. driver of the choice. A lot of club for Ludvik off there. Bunkers to avoid up the right. Remember we did say right on Q. You were just a bit late. You should have told him before he hit it. might not have been able to prepare quite as as much all the way that they wanted to today given the rain yesterday on that front down the left for Fitzpatrick. Can often be a let down once you start hitting them though, isn’t it? Oh, that’s not what I thought it was going to do. But it might be your new favorite, Sam. It’s not much competition. It’s pretty handy from the thick rough over there down the sixth for Fitzpatrick being manicured. Looks fantastic as well. Off it goes for Oberg. It’s been completely re redesigned Allison. It is a magnificent outbreak one from Oberg. Good shot out the bunker though. Nice history for Japanese players. Now Fitzpatrick has ever three practice strokes looking at the hole. Wonderful putter. Another just coming up shy. Bet he goes through a couple of markers. Golf ball’s got a lot on it, doesn’t it? For Fitzpatrick. Oberg down the hill. How close it came. Caught a lot a lot of the left and back edge there. Unlucky that didn’t fall for three birdies in a row. [Applause] Watch Burke on seventh T. Just a fairway wood down the hill. Seems to like it. Should be perfect. Yeah, it’s a great concept. The reason they do it is that the size and the flatness of the sole of the wood flattens the rough down and then it gets good contact on the ball and just pops it forward. Fitzpatrick’s an overlapping grip very strong in the left hand just to really turn through and return those hands to the same position otherwise the ball will go to the left. Let’s pick things up over here at seven with Fitzpatrick. Ideal place to attack this pin from Oh, I did say a cracker. What a beautiful shot from Fitzpatrick. That’s Yammer on debut. Noberg did well on his Oh, another pure strike. A pound to Fitzpatrick. There’s the pin. Picked his line. Going to execute here. And that’s how it played out. On a accomplished start after a bogey at the opening hole, he’s rided the ship really nicely. Little congregation of holes in this section of the golf course. Oberg, off it goes. It’s a real sign of how the game’s changed. Just about every player taking this T-shot on nowadays. He’s playing short of the ridge. First we’ve seen playing it the more traditional way. So pressuring the second shot rather than the T-shot for Fifth Patrick. That’s a long way back too. A long way back. Looks like it’s straight at it. It’s a beauty. 12 shot. Attack it. He did. Shows what I know. Just dropped on a really nice number there. You fancy? Yeah. 160. As you said, it’s a nine iron or an eight iron. It’s not going to be a difficult shot for a player for this class. Lovely action again from Hberg. No spin. Shame. I would expected that to zip back down the green. Nobody just missing on the high side. to get the four under. Oh, Luke Donald would be very happy watching this. He’s picked the right man. Great driver of the ball to gained a lot of distance just before he won the US Open. Oh, this is commentator’s curse. That’s horrific. Oh, for goodness sake. Heather as well. Quite a strong left hand grip on Ludig as well. He just took one out of my mouth. I wasn’t that. That is a very strong grip. I’d never noticed that on him before. I’m still flabbergasted that Bernard Langanger’s gone to a more neutral grip. That’s a great piece of knowledge and won all those events on the champions, too. Well, well the candy that’s just okay. Quite a good leave really from there. Often there once the kids have been deposited at school putting and chipping all day long. trying to play the game like Ludvig Obe, which he probably never will, but you might get close. Ludvig is one of the best in the world matches the line on the putter to out of the ball and completely forgot about how hard to hit it. Bberg was for birdie online. Oh, good man. Three yander forberg at the turn. I like these new putters that the European team are using this week. Look at that for about four and six for the Swede. Looks like an eight to me. Curved top edge of the iron club normally signifies that. Whichever it was, it was the correct one. That’s a splendid t-shirt from Birdley. Patrick holds four under Bi at nine. That’s okay. Three fine shots into 10. Patrick’s on the way. It’s got a good chance. It’s got a good chance. Oh, just run out of steam at the end. He’ll stay at three under. Touch of right to left in the blood of Ober. He takes another step forward to four in the park. Three behind Val. Very nice. miles up there. That’s the sand wedge from there. That’s Patrick and three rippers up here with it. It’s an appealing drive when you’re standing on the tea, especially if you like to draw the ball. It’s just the perfect shape for it. Certainly seems to be working nicely for Matthew who’s been on a great run of form from closer range. Ludvik 10 ft or under from here and certainly not there. It’s Perhaps the worst shot you’ll see from the sweet today that I guess there’s a fear there of him hitting over the green. That’s always in the back of your mind when you get a wedge in your hand. The pins top on that top level. That was magnificent. What an effort from Oberg. No one better on the greens than Fitzpatrick. New putter. It’s a new improved version on the old one. Surely no mistake. It’s heading towards the bunker. Needs to come down quickly. Fine. Trackman showing fine, he says. So that’s good. Sorry, Sam. Just noticed quite a low ball flight. Track trackman showing us there. 116 ft. Maroy much more like 130. Slightly different portion of sky that the balls travel through. That’s cutting right as well. Will they get as lucky? The short of the bunker is for its battery. I doubt it. We can’t tell they’ve got it. Taking aim. He’s got lucky there. He doesn’t he great lie. He can certainly get this there. He’s four under part is hang on. Oh, it looks the flight looks just Come on. Stay there now. Don’t that’s okay. Not a difficult trip at all from there. Keep reviewing how far the ball is going and so forth. Lofted metal for Fitzpatrick and turns out to be just the perfect club. [Applause] Clear off the back foot. Just nudge it forward. Try and pitch it on the fringe and let it release up to the hole. See how far back he’s make sure he’s gets the contact first. Delightful. Should be another birdie for him. Get him to five under. Be the sixth of his day so far. That did start with a bogey. That magnificent second from Fleetwood Fitzpatrick. Oh, shame. for eagle. Look at that crowd still streaming in. It’s a birdie. So Oberg joins Matsyama and Fitzpatrick at five under pile. Feature groups are impressing so far this morning. Tot 13. watching it anxiously. No need. Absolutely. Just fine. Maybe a touch on the left hand side for the left pen. We have to draw it around. That’s a look from behind the green. Yeah. Clubbing back. It was always going to need to pop out of that lion hustle a touch. Just lands into the ups slope short of this green. There’s plenty of those around the west course. It’s not plain sailing from here. You can see how far right he’s aiming. He really does have to hit a hook on this. There’s the trees up in the left side of your screen. That’s what he’s got to come round. Nice release through the ball. Turning over. Is it enough? He’s gone too much. That’s up on top of the bank on the left there. I turn it too much. The release all the way. Not quite. No, he’s left himself a tough one for his partial paying the price. started as a grass practice thing and he liked it so much he stuck with it and that is why. Oh, almost. Almost. An excellent save from Fitz Patrick. It will stay five under. He said if I have my best golf over 72 holes, I can be a chance. But he’s really not putting too much pressure on himself for the rest of the year. Got to work though for Oberg there. Two stays at five. Sorry Alison. That’s Patrick first on the T at 14. Five under par, three behind. Positioning himself in an excellent position. Oh, Shame needed another club there. It didn’t get the connection or it was just a upper club out. Oh, Hberg a bit late too. I think that’s actually Fitzpatrick. And we know it was great from down there in the sand. So we shot Shaw. So Ober’s chipped to here. That’s for park. Oh, he’s pulled it. Oh, it fell in. Oh, that’s nice. stays at five under three behind. It’s just a tap in right half. There you go. 30 birdie chances however coming in 16 17 18 down breeze three metal for Fitzy. H’s been changed quite a bit over the years. have tried bunkers down the left. They’ve taken them away. And that one down the left half is nicely placed. Perfect spot. Anxious a little left. No, it’s fine. I always like to wait until I’m on the 17th fairway in one the front portion of this green. 30 chance coming. That’s a poor one. Oh, Bergen been wanting that inside Patrick’s ball. She has come up a bit light. The putter came out early for so no doubt as to his intentions. [Applause] Applauders to the our superiors who picked the feature group. This is the best group on the course. Nice 17 under between the three of them. time of work to produce that swing. Well, mind you saying that, maybe 10 years because he was pretty good when he was 20 years old. So, he’s done a very good job of not losing it since then. He was pretty good when he was 14. Came and stayed with me for a week and played with my son every day. I think he was 32 under power for the week. And your son, he was a good player. He is. Yes. He didn’t quite reach reach the heights of Macho, but he loves his game. Loves his golf. It’s not an easy one to win. Says the former winner. I wasn’t leading you there, but now that you mention it, it’s wonderful. Very proud of it. Little shy for Fitzpatrick. Oh, I like that. We we’re going to get to the bottom of this because I do have that the Ryder Cup was made here in June of 1926 in my notes. I might have copied and pasted from the wrong section. We’ll see. Where’s this going for Oberg? I know those trees. The wrong section. Other other trees. Pan left down the right. Try a little draw. No, it’s so hard to draw it down here. That’s going to just creep into the edge of the trees probably. I’ll be okay there. Obviously a layup. Yeah, it’s easy to tell. They often show a lot of faith, don’t they, in the players. Yeah, look, it’s not me that’s hitting it. I went over. How far can he get it? Been getting at the top of the hill. Yeah, that’s a great shot from where he was. Probably a seven or eight iron from there, but it’s preferred lies. Perfect lie. Top of the hill. brisk pace, simple as it comes and slightly out on the calculations on that occasion. It’s not too bad on the Thursday either. Matt, how many times has he done that today? Just magnificent. Wonderful judgment of distance on a short iron. Aubber. Poor third shot to here. He needs to get this down. Oh, that’s going to Is that going to come back? Oh, it is. Oh, look at this. Oh, for goodness sake. Oberg seven under par, one behind. Fitzpatrick to join Oberg. He does. both capitalized there at 17. One more than the other. Don’t have to aim so far over the trees with uh 3-wood driver. You have to really take a bit of risk. That will leave something similar to the shot of Fleetwood into the green if he so chooses. and 218 and the second shot into the closing par five of a Ludvig Orbear from just under 230. Is that a little left? Is it a little left? It’ll be some shot on Sunday. That’s where the flag will be. But nonetheless, well played there from Moberg and he’s going to have that to take the lead. Trouble for Fitzpatrick down the 18th. His fourth shot. Waywood off the tea. Hear him say maybe go. Hasn’t made too many mistakes out there today, but he will need to uh hold that one to avoid a bogey at the last. Yeah. You think with a battery you could quieten it down. Maybe that had a motor on it. It’s called a rake pole. Yeah. Oh, what a disappointing finish. Just a slight misjudgment with his approach and 32 back in 34. Round is 66. Still a very commendable round of golf. Her board with a 64 outside is left here. Watch the routine. One lock quick. Well done, Lick. Well done. What a day’s work. 64. That’s good. That’s very good. Including a bogey, too. Look at that. To watch another DP World Tour video, click here. And to subscribe, click here.
