Around 12:08 a.m., officers were called to the 600 block of Monroe Street to help a man who had been shot. Despite life-saving measures and medical attention, the man died at the scene.

Giovanni Michael Robinson, known to many as Mike, was a new father and was in town for a golf trip. He was 32 years old and lived in Ontario, Canada.

His family says he was walking back to his hotel with his brother-in-law near Highway 32 and Monroe St. when he was shot.

The shooter was driving a small, dark colored SUV.

A stretch of Monroe St. between Broadway and Water streets was closed for several hours early Wednesday morning for the investigation. That area includes the bridge over the Sheboygan River.

A bartender at Falls Tap says Robinson was a customer on Tuesday night, and Robinson and his group of friends were kind and there weren’t any issues.

Robinson’s family is looking for answers, along with police, who say a motive is unclear.

As of Wednesday afternoon, no suspects had been apprehended.
