McIlroy & Fleetwood Interview | Friday Foursomes | 2025 Ryder Cup

that of Rory Maroy and Tommy Fleetwood. Guys, many many congratulations. Rory, a five and four victory. Fleetwood Mack, three forsomes in Radic Cup, three wins. What makes this team just unbeatable? Uh, I think when you’ve got a partner like Tommy, um, you can play with so much freedom and so much trust in your game because you know you have someone that’s going to back you up. Um, that’s how I felt, you know, the two times we played in Rome and then today. You know, force can be a tough format. Um, you can start, you know, you can play a little tentative with the way the format is, but again, knowing I have this man beside me to bail me out if I do hit a bad shot, um, that’s that’s very comforting to know. Tommy, the home team has won the last five RDER Cups by five points or more, but you guys came in here with real confidence and belief that you could do this. What is fueling that belief? Well, there’s a lot of things fueling that belief, but um, you know, I I think as a team um, there’s a lot of continuity there. Um but yeah, we have a lot of motivation. We have a lot of belief. We know what we’re playing for. Um but you know, one step at a time. I think uh we’re all we’ve all enjoyed the process of this Rder Cup so much and uh we’ve all been so excited to play um even knowing how difficult it might be. But um like I say, one step at a time and we’ll just keep going all together and we’ll see where we get to. Many, many congratulations. Great playing, guys. The 2025 Ryder Cup is the 45th edition and runs between September 25 – September 28. Luke Donald is the European Team Captain and Keegan Bradley is the U.S. Team Captain. The European Team are the reigning champion after winning 16 ½ – 11 ½ at Marco Simone in 2023. Every two years, 24 of the best players from Europe and the United States go head-to-head in match play competition.
