I had the incredible opportunity to play an 18-hole match against Team Europe Ryder Cup Captain Luke Donald at The Belfry, a course that has hosted 4 Ryder Cups. With the Ryder Cup happening this week, we themed this match in true Ryder Cup style — me representing Team USA and Luke representing Team Europe.
A huge thank you to Hidden Links Golf Tours for setting this up — they specialize in unforgettable golf experiences around the world. Check them out here: https://www.hiddenlinksgolf.com/

This video is unlike anything I’ve ever posted. [Music] My name is Kyle Birkshshire. I’m the longest hitter in the world and a threetime world long drive champion. But today, things are different. I’m playing an 18-hole match against former world number one and RDER Cup captain Luke Donald. And in true Ryder Cup fashion, we’re at the belfry. Of course, I’d hosted the RDER Cup four times. [Music] He’s a wild card, Luke. American. So, the question is, do I have what it takes to beat Luke at his own game and on his home soil? Let’s find out. Oh, man. How many major would I have won? If I I was going to ask you if you had that left. Right It’s good. Well, that’s straight. Seven. Are you slightly strong or not? Oh, yeah. It’s about 3 or 4 degrees strong because if I hit pilock stuff, it spins too much. Yeah. Good putt. Thank you. Thanks. I was glad to slow down. I thought that thing was going to roll way past the hole. Thank God for morning boot car. Yeah. Drive swing. Oh god. Good shot. Well done. Thank you. Appreciate it. And we’re off to the races. Feels great to be the first one on the board, but I know if I want to have a chance to beat Luke, I’ve got a very long road ahead of me. Nice. Appreciate it. Wow. Stood straight. Good roll. And really quick, guys, I want to give a massive shout out to Hidden Links Golf Tours. These are the guys that made it possible for me to be able to film this video, and I actually spent a ton of time with them over in Scotland and in England. They could not have made my travel experience more smooth. They have a ton of amazing connections in the golf industry and to be honest, they’re all around just great guys. If you guys are ever considering booking a golf tour anywhere in the United Kingdom and frankly anywhere, I could not recommend Hid Links Tours enough. If you guys are more interested in them, I will drop a link to their website in the description and check them out. Thank you guys very much. See That would have been so good if that got up. Just need to get up a little more. Nice. That was a break. He gave me that. He’s being He’s being generous. He doesn’t want me have to put that in front of everybody, I guess. Nice guy. You’re the longest drive. Longest drive on the whole line. Yes, sir. Yeah. Okay, buddy. What? What? Yeah. Did it land yet? [Applause] Get it. Get it. Up and down. Thanks. Yours is good. If you don’t want to put it, I know you’re not going to miss those. shot. Nice. Oh wow, that went left. And if you guys have made it this far in the video, please do me a favor and consider subscribing and liking the video below. It really helps out a ton with pushing the video out to more people and it motivates me to continue to make great content because after all, the reason I make this stuff is because I know there will be people who enjoy it. That’s what it’s all about. So, thank you very much for liking and subscribing. So, I think we can go with an eight iron and play a jumper. And I think the wind will hit it pretty good. Thank you. That’s crazy how fast it is. Yeah, sure. Thank you. swing, Luke. So, just do that, right? Yeah. I mean, obviously you’ve got just over 300 trying to run out at the edge of the trap. Okay. There is a little room. See, the further left you go, the carry. But you went over the middle of these trees. Mhm. Probably hard to carry at 295. Thanks. [Music] [Applause] Hopefully I stayed short. Let’s see. Thanks. Hey, you Get in the water in Hello. [Applause] Welcome. [Music] [Applause] Let’s go. [Applause] He’s a wild card. Luke American American, right? So think I don’t know if I can get over Gosh, needed five more yards. came out a little hot. birdie. Thank you. Good luck. Have fun. Thank you. Good. Yes. Thank you very much. I’ve got a three iron here. Sure. [Applause] so Bad little soft. After a really strong start, I was frustrated all of a sudden be three down and making a ton of unforced mental errors. But I also felt like I was starting to finally settle into the match. So, it’s time to turn it up a notch. All right. Sweet. [Applause] Should be fine. Yeah, should be all right. I didn’t hear anything loud. What’s that? Probably like 310, 320 to carry. I think there’s a good chance I covered that. Probably carried like 330ish, 340. Isn’t that brick? Nice. look like like your shots, Luke. swing. Yeah, for me I am. Great shot. Oh no. [Applause] Hold the line. Get it. Woo. All right. Cheers. Thank you. What’s that? Excuse me. Luke. Luke. Sorry. Thank you. Welcome. Great ball. Thank god they can’t see where that went. Let’s see. [Applause] Good shot. [Applause] And the comeback is officially on. After getting a three down, I’ve been able to string three birdies in a row to get it back to one down with five to play. It’s a ball game. Was it not the easiest thing to sign? Yeah, you get better with practice. Sure. Take care. Cheers. You didn’t go in. I didn’t see a splash. That’s a brutal brutal T- shot there. Oh, wow. Got top. It’s okay. Thank you. Thank you. Good luck. Your usual fans. My That’s my demographic. Yeah. That is Good night. [Applause] Go. [Applause] Three up. Yeah. Cheers. Cheers. All the best. Thank you. Cheers. Right. Right into the lip. Should have just hit that the first time. That was so stupid. Good. That’s good. strike. Should I drive it, guys? All right, why not? Okay. [Applause] All right. Help me out here, please. Where the people are? Right over where the people are. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Perfect. Doesn’t matter where it’s gone. It’s just just short of the water. Oh yeah, that’s perfect. [Applause] Not bad about straight. That was pretty sick. That was sick. Thoughts on that one, L? No way. He doesn’t need a driver every time. That’s That’s his That’s his superpower. Let it fly. How many majors would I have won if I was going to ask you if you had that length? What do you reckon? I don’t know that length. The thing with with golf, God never gives you everything. So, uh you know, you can be good at putting one day and then you drive a little off, right? You be good at driving one day and your putting a little I know. It really is true. It’s uh it’s a frustrating game. It’s a very frustrating game. Would be nice to have that in the in the tank, I would say. Try and smash. Yeah. Spend all my time. So, if I want to hit a little bit harder, what should I do? What’s that? Just get really high. I want to hit a little bit harder. Mhm. Yeah. If I want to swing harder, I just try to just release the hands a little more and pray. That’s the last part. And I just released too much. Still didn’t look very hard, did it? Faster. A little faster. Mile an hour, maybe. Drive a little more speed on that one. Tried, but still didn’t tweak cluts. Pretty good drive by car nine. He’s got 60 yards left. See the touch the big man. Pretty good. All right. Good shot. Terrible filming. Just completely missed the ball. Come on. Come on. Stay off. Thank you. What’s that? A spare ball. Okay, buddy. You know the right questions to ask. How do you drive the ball so far? Well, you know, it’s a lot of speed. And the best way to do that, get in the gym, get strong, and then don’t be afraid to practice swinging fast. How far did that one go? What’s that? How far did that one go? Probably about 380 or so. Can I have a photo as well? I appreciate it. Start driving Let’s try. Yeah. I mean, I think it’s not too many more iconic holes uh for Ryder Cup than this one. I think uh you know, many memories of me as a kid watching Sevy cut driver or 3-wood uh onto the screen. It’s a tiny target. Um, but um, so many great shots throughout Ryder Cup history. It’s it’s a great riskreward hole. Uh, even if you lay it up, it’s a small green. It pitches at you quite a lot. And, uh, the greens are soft, you know, it’s quite easy to spin it back into the water. So, a little bit. Good. Hey, enjoy. Hey, pleasure. Thanks so much. Thanks, Luke. A lot of fun. It was a pleasure watching fun. Good luck, too. Great fun. All right. Well, that was a fun video. Um, truly incredible to watch you hit a golf ball. Um, I’m glad I lasted as long as I did. So, yeah, huge shout out to the belfree. Huge shout out to Hidden Links for helping make all this possible. It was a ton of fun and, uh, you know, it’s really good for me to get to play with guys of Luke’s caliber to kind of see what I need to work on. And there’s some stuff in there, but also some good stuff. So, good match to build on and seems like you’re uh ready for a good week this week. Yeah, I hope so. Yeah, I thought your game was was solid. Um you know, you you hang in there pretty good. Um so, uh yeah, good luck to you and I appreciate it. It was it was fun um seeing how a ball should be hit uh off the tea. Talk about yourself, right? No, not at all. No, I I wish I had your speed, but uh that’s pretty cool. I’m always happy to help in any way I can. But yeah, I really appreciate it. We’ll link um his socials down in the description below. And uh yeah, cheer him on. Great guy, incredible golf swing. And uh cheer him on at the RDER Cup. This is going to be a really fun week for him. So be nice to him, guys. Okay? When he comes up on, be nice to him, please. All right. Well, I appreciate it, man. Thanks so much. Thanks, man. Take care, guys. [Music]

Luke,wonderful iron swing,solid evertime,not rushed.
Longest driver in the world who doesn’t use driver.
Its gotta be so demeaning to watch a guy hit their irons past your driver
Impressive stuff as always Kyle. Do pros ever consult with you about backing off the accelerator on your wedge, short, and mid iron shots? More specifically, I’m referring to the 6th hole where you both went in the water off the tee and took your drops. There’s such a stark contrast in Luke’s tempo for his approach shot compared to your wedge tempo. Curious if you’ve tinkered with that at all, working more finesse into your game rather than sheer ball speed. I can see how it would be a tough thing to balance, showcasing max distance out of a club because it’s damn impressive for us as viewers to watch vs going to tempo town to hit more greens in reg. Anyway, thought I’d ask. Cool to see you get these matches in!
That was an enjoyable video. Luke’s drives look and sound perfect. Really polite and appreciative young fans along the way. Well done, Kyle 👍
commentary would be nice
Good video. Two very elegant golf swings with controlled finishes.
awsome content thank you for nice words at the end. have a fun Ryder Cup
Great watch…pure class from both you and Luke!
Kyle, I'm a long time viewer , Your weapon is your distance . Bring out the driver. Bum Phillips a head football coach of the Houston Oilers in the 1970's. He had a running back named Earl Campbell who could run over opponents. Bum was asked why do you run Earl 35 times a game. His reply when you got a howitzer you fire it.
Hit the driver off every tee
Luke Donald looks like he puts no effort into swinging. He is so pure and his swing looks the same with nearly every club. I also enjoyed that you got to play in front of a small crowd
Great job Kyle. Your approach shots are much improved and I like the more abbreviated back swing on the irons. It appears to give you better control and accuracy. Luke was spot on, so you hanging with him was great. Would love to see more driver off the tee though.
More driver
New to the channel and sub. Would love to hear some narration during the video, it was a very quiet video. Was sad not to see you Smash some of those drives with the driver, but still a very good round of golf. Rock on 🤘😎
Loved this video, man. Im sure the masses wont enjoy the style of production but i fuck with it. Hope you keep them this way. earned my sub/like.
Good game solid
Sorry man but this is the most boring video you've made. No commentary is a bad idea. Your personality and description of what's happening needs to be included, otherwise it's just two guys playing golf. In this video we don't even know the yardage of your approach shots or what clubs you are hitting. It's not entertaining enough.
Again , when you have a strength , use it … if you can hit driver 100 yards farther than someone , even if you’re not in the fairway let’s say , that’s going to automatically make it easier … Rory mcilroy doesn’t hit 3 iron off of tees unless he has to fit it in a tiny window , he hits driver as much as possible 😂
I’m not even that good of a golfer and I hit driver everywhere i can , and the courses around here are not long by any means but they’re a lot tighter than most of the courses I’ve seen on here
I like that on the last hole , he hits the lip and then just gets out , and a normal player would then still be hitting a mid iron or even a longer iron there … and he’s hitting a wedge
Why didn't we know this was going on? That's right by my house (in American terms). It's actually 45 minutes away so not my usual track.
Where was the narration? Where is the banter? This could have been way more entertaining.
Wierd with no pre shot talking. Dont notice that till its not there.
Hit the driver bro this is soooooo boring.
People forget. Luke is the former world # 1
1:35min ‘Woahhhh, why the fk did he hit an iron’ …
Did Luke take a few valium before the match?
Instead of a 1 iron, can Cobra make a super short driver? Then you get the forgiveness of a driver…
There’s 1 million guys that can hit it further than Luke, but they never got to number one in the world or got on the PGA tour and won $41M
I would love to see Kyle take more aggressive tee shot lines with his insane driving distance but I can respect the more disciplined play he has been doing recently with the irons.
Great content. Just a suggestion, it would be nice if you showed what club you are using on each stroke, to show us mere mortals just how far you are hitting your irons.
Luke's swing is so beautiful. Look at that smoothness.
Luke Donald would in my opinion have won a lot more if he had a better level of self belief. His iron play, putting and bunker play was at one time the best in the world but his driving, fairway woods were short. Getting to par 5's in two was rarely his game but precision iron play was.
Interesting how the Europeans don’t feel the need to comment on every swing or putt. Us Americans are way too sensitive and always need validation on the course. I blame this on playing with our wives, girlfriends, sisters and daughters! It’s a constant challenge to keep them happy while playing like garbage. Also, men here act like women on the course and become emotionally charged after every bad hit… I like this keep it to yourself style better! Feels less forced and more focused.
Dont know why the crazy comments – Kyle is some player 🔥💪
Very high quality all round game.
Drive for show putt for win😅
There are a few pro golfers from Taiwan can drive 380+😊
Luke is not even in shape now😅
Luke has still got it. Mr consistency.
Just love Luke Donald's swing
Excellent content! Try playing scramble or alternate shot with one of these top pros. It will be more of a team and help each other concept instead of competition. Just an idea. I look forward to your next video.
No driver boring
No banter snooze
Scared to hit driver ???????
Bryson would smash you😂 please hit driver thats what kids want to see
