And what a way to begin the Rumble, a titanic clash for the WWE Championship. >> I have got goosebumps right now. >> Well, tonight’s gonna be one of those nights that’ll be described as it escalated quickly. [MUSIC] >> It’s the iconic entrance of the WWE Hall of Famer. Direct raw and explosive,
this is Goldberg. >> Well, what a way this is to
begin the Royal Rumble event. Representing Tom Phillips, Samoa Joe and
Byron Saxon on top this evening, two Royal Rumble matches. Not only a live performance by multi
platinum recording artist Bad Bunny, who will be here later on tonight,
and of course, three championship matches,
one of which is about to begin. >> My favorite event of the year, what better way to start off
with a WWE Championship matchup. [MUSIC] >> The Scottish warrior marching into
WWE Thunderdome, ready for battle. [MUSIC] >> The intensity on
the face of the challenger, now emphatically matched by the champion, Drew McIntyre marching to the ring and
his sole purpose, defeat Goldberg. >> Drew McIntyre understands the gravity
of this opportunity ahead of him. Not only does he have to deal with
the explosiveness, the power and the myth of Goldberg, but he’s got to come into this with confidence
as Goldberg is showing him no respect. >> Make no mistake,
Drew McIntyre is confident but that isn’t also the look of a wary man. A man who realizes what kind of dangerous
individual, what kind of dangerous fortunate force of nature he is
stepping in the ring against Joe. >> I think Drew McIntyre

>> This will be one for the ages, the WWE Championship, for the first time ever, Goldberg vs McIntyre. >> The following contest, scheduled for one fall, is for the WWE Championship. Introducing the Challenger from Atlanta, Georgia, weighing in at 285 pounds, WWE Hall of Famer, Goldberg. And his opponent, from Ayr, Scotland, weighing in at 265 pounds, he is the WWE Champion, Drew McIntyre. [NOISE]
>> [CROSSTALK] >> And look at McIntyre, the bell is alive. My God, a spare to Goldberg from McIntyre. >> McIntyre just took a page
out of Goldberg’s playbook. >> But guys, this WWE title match
has not yet been made official, the bell did not ring. >> That’s not gonna stop these men. >> Whatever Goldberg said to McIntyre,
McIntyre did not like and responded in kind. >> And trying to instigate and now the WWE Champion looks hurt
shoulder into the Steeler. >> Now Goldberg buries his shoulder
into the ribs of McIntyre. Through the barricade. >> The steel barricade. >> That was Goldberg’s message to
the champion, this is how it’s done. This is how you deliver the spear. >> A spear for spear and gentlemen,
this match is still not official. This is how the physicality
started here moments ago. >> Skip in the face of McIntyre,
McIntyre without none of it. Something Goldberg said there
ticked off McIntyre and then spear through the barricade,
leveling the WWE Champion. >> I can’t knock McIntyre, me,
it was a brilliant strategy. Unfortunately, it did not work
out how he planned it would. >> But now Byron, he’s been
obliterated through the barricade. That being McIntyre, how does he get back
into this match that hasn’t even started? >> Well, the big question is, well, what are the conditions
of Drew McIntyre’s ribs? What kind of damage was done from that
spear that could severely hamper McIntyre throughout this match? >> It absolutely could, I mean, an injury
to the ribs at this point, I mean, before the match even started,
could be just absolutely disaster. >> Look at how labored

Drew McIntyre right here, right now. >> Got him up and a jackhammer covered by
Goldberg to win the title, and a kick out. McIntyre kicked out of the Jackhammer. >> My goodness,
even Goldberg looks shocked. >> Just barely kicked out and Goldberg,
I don’t think Goldberg understands. >> Goldberg is stunned. How many men in history have
kicked out of the Jackhammer? >> Goldberg not allowing that stun
feeling to resonate much longer. Goldberg back in position and
ready to strike again. >> This is what Goldberg does best. He’s one of the best finishers
ever in the history of WWE. >> Goldberg remaining inside his zone. >> Dolphin on the screen. >> Of the top turnbuckle,
McIntyre able to invade again. >> What’s but more McIntyre now. >> [CROSSTALK]
>> McIntyre’s trying to muster up the strength,
might be thinking claymore one more time. >> Gritting through the pain. >> McIntyre wants Goldberg. Claymore, another Claymore. McIntyre, McIntyre slays Goldberg. >> Here’s your winner and still the WWE Champion, Drew McIntyre. >> No doubt this match did not
start the way McIntyre expected, but McIntyre found a way to gut
it out to will himself on and retain the WWE Championship. >> Incredible performance
by Drew McIntyre. A legacy building performance
by Drew McIntyre. >> McIntyre said it, Joe,
I need this win to take myself and my reign to another level. >> And this opened a lot of eyes
tonight for the WWE Universe. Watch this, Goldberg hoisting up the 265
pound McIntyre for the jackhammer. How many in history have
ever kicked out of the jack? >> This is after multiple spears,
rib cage damage and a jackhammer at, yeah, that McIntyre still had enough to do this. >> The claymore right between the eyes
in this battle of generations, McIntyre defeats the legendary Goldberg. >> And he once looked up to, now tonight stands over victorious

centered around respect. And now finally it seems
that Drew McIntyre, the WWE Champion,
