Play Golf In Ireland | Stay in Downings and play golf in Donegal
Well, welcome to Downings in Dunnyall up in Ireland. This is where I’ve been staying the last two nights when I’ve been playing uh St. Patrick’s Lynx and I played Sandy Hills today. This is the hotel where I’ve been staying, Downing Bay Hotel. Very nice. Right here on the main street. I’ll show you a little bit more of the main street here. They’ve got a very nice restaurant and bar in there. So, terrific uh location to stay. It’s just half a mile around to Rosapena Golf Course. So, Rosapena has a resort, but I wanted to stay in town. Very easy to walk around down here. Nice restaurants. I’m going to take you to the Harbor Bar, which has been fantastic. I’ve had so much fun there. But Downing Bay Hotel right there. So, let me show you around more of Downings. And this is why it’s called Downing Bay Hotel. This is Downing Bay. Just right behind the hotel. We’re right on the beach here. Very very pretty. Um, sun was just out. It went behind a cloud. But right over there, that’s Rosapena Resort right over there. And that big mound, just on the other side of that mound would be Sandy Hills. And then the old Tom Morris course is over there as well. Now, St. Patrick’s is farther around. Actually, no, you can see St. Patrick’s if you just look straight across right over where those people are walking. That’s St. Patrick’s link over there. So you can see how close you are to everything. Nice Irish family over here playing the one of the national sports in Ireland. Hurling. Okay. Quite fun. So very nice. If you like to come walk on the beach, hey, come on down and enjoy it. You got plenty of beach to walk on. And if you look up there, there’s people’s homes going up the hill in Downings. Here’s a couple other views of Main Street. Okay, this is right across the street from the hotel. You got some sweet shops and some food places, some restaurants down here. They told me there’s a really good pizza restaurant right down the right down the street. Let me turn you this way. And here’s looking more I would call it up the street cuz right up that street is the Harbor Bar. And that’s where we’re going to go next. It’s about a 2-minute walk from the hotel. And it’s easy on the way home cuz you’re coming downhill. So, let’s go up and check it out. So, I wanted to show you this view right here. This is what the view from the Harbor Bargain looking out over the bay. Rosa Penna right there. That’s where Sandy Hills would be over top of that hill. And then just over there to the right, I’m going spin you a little bit, is where St. Patrick’s Links would be. So this is the Harbor Bar. And this is Fisk Seafood Restaurant right next to it. I ate there the first night. Had fish and chips. They were delicious. But this bar is fantastic. It was a beautiful day. See all the people sitting outside already enjoying themselves um with this incredible view. Let’s go inside and see if Connor’s in there. Well, this is where I’ve been having so much fun the last two nights. This is inside the Harbor Bar. Last night we’re sitting over there with a whole bunch of people. Even one of the actually the owner was sitting over there with us and then two nights before we were sitting right here. So great old Irish looking bar here. Michael behind the bar. He served me a few pints already. Not too And here’s the other way. Got a nice fire going in here. So on a cold day, you can come in and sit next to the fire while you enjoy your beverages. So I think while I am here then I probably will have a pint. I wish I had had my camera rolling up there at the Harbor Bar. I did get a pint and sat outside. Two great older Irish gentlemen just had a wonderful conversation. And that’s the thing I love about going to these small little towns here in Ireland. Everybody is so nice. This is the actual Irish word for Downings. I don’t know how to pronounce it, but the bottom part, the BH on the end, I know that’s a V sound. So, Dunav or something like that. I don’t know. I do know that Fala up there at the top means welcome. So, this is the entrance sign into to Downings and it was welcoming and it was great. And if you want to travel the, you know, the northern part of the Wild Atlantic Way, definitely you need to stop and stay in Downings for a day or two. Thanks y’all for coming in. Donegal Ireland has great golf courses including Rosapenna resort, Portsalon, and Dunfanaghy. If you want to take a golf trip to Ireland, you need to think about Donegal. Plus the Harbour Bar in Downings is aworld class Irish Pub.
