“It hurts.”
That’s what Green Bay Packers offensive lineman Sean Rhyan said about the team’s shocking last-second loss to the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
“We can’t shoot ourselves in the foot, especially in critical times,” he told FOX 11 Sports Director Ryan Wing in the latest edition of FOX 11 One on One.
The two discussed the overall play of the offense. Watch to see how Rhyan graded quarterback Jordan Love’s performance over the first three weeks of the season, and get a behind-the-scenes tidbit of Love’s gift to the offensive linemen after last season.
Rhyan also answered whether the offensive line takes pride in running back Josh Jacobs’ streak of 11 consecutive games scoring a touchdown.
The conversation then turned to the upcoming game against the Dallas Cowboys.
Rhyan will go up against former Packers defensive lineman Kenny Clark — whom Green Bay sent to Dallas in exchange for pass rusher Micah Parsons.
Rhyan acknowledged that Clark is familiar with what the Packers try to do, so there may be some new wrinkles to the game plan to account for it.
“It’ll be a good game in the trenches,” he promised.
Rhyan also shared his thoughts on playing at the Cowboys’ home stadium, AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
The interview closed with an analysis of the Packers’ early bye in 2025. It comes in Week 5, right after the Cowboys game. Will the early-season bye be an advantage or disadvantage? Watch to see how Rhyan answered.

Hello everybody and welcome to our one-on-one series. We’re with Packers offensive lineman Shawn Ryan. Sean, we’ll get the bad out of the way first. What was that feeling like? I know it’s just three games in walking off the field, first loss. Stings, man. It really stings. Um just especially after looking at the film and knowing that uh you know, we were just this close on on a few plays of you know, potentially having a different outcome of the game. It hurts. But you know, good thing is is we got 14 more of them, so we’ll be all right. Is that the the frustrating part when you know does that make it more frustrating when you’re like, man, two different minor plays go a different way and you win? Does that make it more frustrating sometimes? It does. Uh it definitely does just because with it coming down to the wire like that, it could go either way. It’s not like uh you know, you were battling and you know, sometimes stuff happens and it just doesn’t go your way. You just kind of get blown up or whatever. This one was like you’re just hitting hitting hitting, you know, going blow forblow and comes down to those two plays and it’s like we probably should have won it but we couldn’t, you know, just pull through. So yeah, it hurts. Obviously a lot of penalties in that game. Is that one of the biggest takeaways is you guys have to be cleaner. Oh yeah. Yeah. Clean and clean and simple is we can’t shoot ourselves in the foot especially in critical times. Um, you know, we had some pretty critical penalties that, uh, you know, altered our play calling, you know, so, uh, we got to be clean. Uh, if we be clean, uh, I think it’ll, that’ll take care of a lot of our problems. Take that game away, though. The offense is playing pretty well. How, how would you grade the offense’s performance so far through three weeks? Through three week, A. Okay. Yeah. Or B+. I mean, you can never be 100%. Sure. You know, you’re always striving for perfection, but you’re never going to get it. Um, but yeah, we’re we’re great. We’re we’re rolling right now. Yeah. How do you think Jordan’s played through those these first three weeks? Great. I mean, that’s that’s that’s Jay Love, man. I I love playing. I love protecting for him, playing for him. Uh, I’ll go to battle for him, you know, any day of the week. When you see a guy like Josh Jacobs have I think 11 straight games with a touchdown is like is that more does that give you like really a lot of I don’t gratitude is not the right word but like sense of accomplishment like your part of that because he’s one of only like four guys since 2000 to have 10 straight games with a rushing touchdown in the regular season. Is that a sense of accomplishment for you guys on the offensive line? Yeah, it is. But uh that’s also our job, right? like uh as an O line, our job is, you know, kind of protect the quarterback and escort the running back. So, uh being able to be a part of, uh Josh’s success is is fun. Um but at the end of the day, that’s what we’re supposed to do for whoever’s there. Sure. What was the uh what was Jordan’s gift to the offensive line last year? Do you remember? I do. Um but I don’t know if Sure. I’ll say I’ll say one of the gifts. I’ll say one of the gifts was a nice Brightling watch. Okay. Nice Brightling watch. Did you guys anything too? Yeah, he did. He got us a little something some too. Okay. All right. We’ll leave it at that. Yeah, we’ll we’ll leave it at that. Looking forward, we’re just going to look forward one game because I know that is Matt Laflur’s mantra. One and0 each week. What is uh going to Dallas? Obviously, all eyes are going to be on the Micah reunion. But on your side of the ball, it’s going to be really interesting to go up against Kenny Clark. What’s that gonna be like? H It’s gonna be great. It’s gonna be fun. Um, I’m sure uh we’re going to become humming off the ball and Kenny’s going to we might have to change some things up just because Casey’s kind of been here for so long or was here for so long that you know he might pick up on a few things that we might have to change. So, it’ll be fun and uh it’ll be a good game. Good game in the trenches. How t how often did you go up against him? Was it like every single day at practice? Pretty much. So, like he knows you, you know him pretty much, right? Yeah, I would say so. I mean, all stemming all the way back to rookie year, you know, on on scout team, you know, sitting on them. Uh me and Kenny I it’s weird to say we’ve been going against each other for almost four years. So, yeah. And you’re both UCLA guys. Yeah. So, like is it going to be like, “Hey, I need your jersey after the game. Is that a jersey swap? Is that a does or how do you who who gets like top billing there?” Is it is it Elton because he’s been there the longest? I think I think it’ll be uh kind of a a push and pull thing. Um just because KC’s, you know, he’s been here his whole career. So I think if anyone has the chance to jersey swap with him, it’ll probably be Elton just because he is the oldest guy there. But you do have the UCLA ties. So I do. But I mean it’s always it’s a matter of uh you know the vet guys. That makes sense. Yeah. What uh what’s it like playing in Dallas? You guys have have had a lot of success there. Obviously, the last time you played there was uh that really good offensive performance in the playoffs. That brings back good memories, I have to imagine. Yeah. Uh playing in Dallas is always a good time. You know, it’s fun. Uh loud. It’s always a a great environment to play in whether you’re the visiting team or the home team. Um stadium’s cool. Uh it’s fast. The turf is fast. Um at the end of the day, it’s still a football field. Sure. Yeah. Finally, early buy week five. What do you do? You like that to get because then you you had a long stretch after that. Would you prefer it to be a little bit later or do you like whatever, man? I don’t care. I mean, to be frank with you, I I wish it was a little bit later, you know, break up the season a little bit, but uh we’ll take an early buy, too. You know, just allows us to refresh our bodies sooner than everyone else does. Yeah. And you guys probably need it, too, because there’s probably a couple guys on that on that thing. You might get Christian Watson back after that, which would be great for the offense. So, you know, so, uh, it could be real beneficial for us. Yeah, absolutely.
