Yes, Bryson DeChambeau is just one of 12 on the U.S. Ryder Cup team, but there isn’t a more pivotal or polarizing player for the Americans this week at Bethpage Black.
The wildly popular, quirky Californian is, quite simply, the X-factor for the Americans as they take on Europe. That, in fact, is exactly what U.S. captain Keegan Bradley called him before the matches get underway Friday morning.
“Bryson can carry a team,” U.S. vice captain Gary Woodland told The Post. “He’s a dominant figure. He’s bringing the energy. No situation is too big for Bryson. He’s a guy that we need. He’s a guy we’ll rely on.
“Bryson has sacrificed a lot for this team,” Woodland added. “Fans love him. He’ll have a massive following. He’ll be able to match the energy of New York, and we need to match Bryson’s energy.”
