I play the FIRST EVER Ryder Cup Course…
Before legends were crowned and Europe have won the Royal Cup, before history was written and America have got the cup back, there was Worcester. 1927, the birthplace of golf’s greatest rivalry. [Applause] The very first Ryder Cup, where it all began. for the champion. Nearly a century later, I’ve come to walk in the footsteps of giants, [Music] to play on the same ground where champions made history, and to answer one question. Do I have what it takes to play the course that started it all? I’m on the first two. Pat, nice to have you. Lovely to have you here, mate. Uh Pat is going to be caring for me today. He’s a first year PGA professional as well or what would you call it? Stage one. Yeah, stage one associate. You can call it any of those things. This is the moment where you’re just like waiting through all the crap to get to the good stuff. Exactly. Like just stay on the course and you will get to the promised land and you’ll be a happy PJ pro like me. Exactly. Right. So, first team, mate. I’m so excited to to play. Uh, it’s past 70. He’s just under 7,000 yards. What What am I doing here? Cuz there’s a ditch that’s running straight across. So, yeah, ditch is probably about 260 out there. A good 230 shots going to put you middle of the fairway. And it’s pretty straightforward right ahead. So, uh, that’ll leave you probably about 140ish yards in. Wherever you wherever that comes down there. Looks like a little little fiddly fall down there. Yeah. I’m excited. I’m excited to play today. It’s kind of one of those courses like a traditional US Open Parkland venue. Not really done that many of these. So, thank you for being with us. Thank you for the country club for having us as well. Very safe. Very safe indeed. Yeah. Not going to lie, Pat, that was that was close to being missed. 164 is meters. All right. You prefer yards? Um, you work in meters. I’ve switched it. I didn’t know what you preferred. Oh, right. Uh, no. Yeah. Yards. Yards. Yeah. Okay. Yards. 179 to the pit. Thinking. So, it’s 179 into wind. A little a little into a little uphill. Like a 190 shot, do you think? I think I think you’d be safer playing the number cuz you definitely have um a lot of room on the front. Okay. What was the number? Sorry. 179. 179 to the pin. Come in. Keep going. It’s been left. We’re playing US Open rules today, mate. Love it. Like middle of the green. Yes. Yeah. Smart. You have to like fairways. You have to. It’s going to par this course to death. You know what I mean? Absolutely. I don’t want a JJ spawn front nine. I’ll take his back n though. We were just saying it. It looked like a long way away. However, these flags are tiny. Apparently, that’s like a thing around the course. But look at that fine quality of plastic brass and wood. High quality stitching, not double-sided down. And it should be breaking off this way. Moving this way. Let’s try and get the pace as we go. Just going to give it fair bit of respect off that right side. [Music] Good morning, Worster. Well, welcome back. I just want to say a massive thank you to the sponsors of this video, Hule. So, you’ve been watching the channel this year, you’ll notice that I’ve been using Hule pretty much in all my competitions, and it’s kind of solved for me one of the biggest issues that I’ve had as far as nutrition on the golf course. So, when I’m on the course, I’ve mostly been using the black edition of products. So, this is a nutritionally complete drink, and it’s one of these which I’ve been having on the golf course. It reduces my feeling of being bloated, and it actually solves a lot of issues as far as what I need to consume when I’m playing. But, I’ve also added something else. So, this is a sparkling greens multivitamin drink, which also has lion’s mane mushroom. And it’s like this, which give me a huge boost pre and during the round. Now, I’ve also teamed up with Hule for the following offer, and you can head down into the description below for links to go check them out. Okay, massive thank you once more to Hule for sponsoring the video, and let’s get back to Worcester. Love it. Let’s go. Good morning. Welcome to the show, folks. I think we’re done. Yeah, let’s just walk the rest. Call it one under. Get to the bar. We’re not We’re not going to make the flight tonight, boys. Straight to New York. Have you ever actually witnessed a 59? I have not. Don’t worry, you’re not going to. [Music] Now, we’re going to chat through the history of this place as we go. Obviously, it’s the home of the First Rider Cup that we’ve already mentioned, but it’s also hosted a men’s US Open and a women’s US Open. And it’s the one of only three courses to do that. Pinehurst and Hazelton, I think, are the others. But this is my favorite. Yeah, I still love Pineh Hurst. I’m not into Hazeline. So, if you’re watching, Mr. Hazelstein. Second hole. What have we got? So, par five. Um, fairways are connected. So, the third and second are connected down there. Everybody kind of aims for that gully. If you go like right over that rough patch, it’ll give you a good look at the green from that side. Or if you want to put one pretty far up there, the distance you’re hitting it, you can probably leave it up there right side and still have a good look at the green. Oh, sweet. So, kind of like the hut in the background. Yep. You can aim right at the hut. Yeah, just give it a give it a blast. That’s perfect. Yeah. Well, that might miss the left fairway. We’re okay. Yeah, we’ll be okay over there. Good line in, right? Yeah, there’s a few moving parts of that swing. Pat, I understand that. Didn’t I didn’t hit any drives on the range and that was what was going through my head at the top of that back swing. 291 of the stick. 254 to cover that bunker. We’re going to hit a little mini driver. I’m going to start this over the path to the left. I’m just going to let it cut back in. I like it. It’s going to clear the bunker, pitch about 15t, and just roll out. Give us a chance to eagle. Cutting. Keep cutting. Almost pretty good though. Absolutely. I’m absolutely delighted by that. But don’t tell Pat. I wanted to think I’m a good player. That was awesome. Struck that so well. I do that without most occasions with that many driver now. Yeah, it’s just a regular regular Thursday for me. that shot back. What would you go here, Pat? High or low? I would, me personally, I’d probably go high just to avoid that left side. So, then going to get a wee bit of loft. Try and land it around that little white mark. Yeah, I like that. I just popped up a little bit high, but it’s okay. Guess when the uh US Open was all right. So, uphill just a touch left or right. Yeah, just outside left. Yeah, I’m thinking probably right around here aimwise. Um, really not a ton cuz you can hit it hit it firm. Yeah. [Music] Two holes in and uh two on the pop. This happens all the time. Yeah, it’s just what we do all the time. So, love that. Drive it straight out. Yeah. Are we going like straight back up? Straight straight back up. That’s the flag right up there. So, you’re straight ahead. That gully again in play. Um, if you go to that side, gives you a good angle at the green. If you’re down, there’s a hill. Then there’s another gully on the right side. You can’t quite see the surface from down there. Okay. So, I prefer left. That same gully that we saw on on two. Left again. Going to be perfect. Yeah. Yeah. It’s getting a wee bit wee bit quick on those drives, but it’s a bit weird with the double fairway like this cuz you know you’ve got the route. Mhm. To actually focus in and like be real specific with a target. It’s a bit It’s tricky. All right. 83 to the stick and you’ve got about 73 to the front there. Okay. Loads of room behind. Yes. No bunkers on the other side. Just the T- boxes over there. If I try and hit this like a little baby on with a bit spin. Yeah. You just got to be a little careful. A little too much spin. I’ll get it ripping back off the front. I think I might have got away with that a touch. I think that’s actually pretty close, but I was a little bit on the heavy side. Kind of struggling with uphill lies at the moment. I got a lot of mass to shift. I got a lot of Boston mass to move. Right. I’ve got this just a tiny bit right to left. Yep. Slightly up the slope. Just outside right. Yeah, just outside right. Again, I think if you hit it with some pace, just like the last Ah, just came off a little left there. All right, it’s a par. Damn. I thought we were going to do it. I thought we were going to go 18, you know, 18 birdies. Try that, too. I’ve only done it twice. [Music] Yeah, this is the most American part three I’ve ever seen. So, 200 something. 238 to the stick. 238 to the stick. 220 to the front. 238. The The flags are kind of creeping me out cuz they’re just that little bit too like they look a little small. Mhm. So, that looks like 300 yd away. Yeah. Is it better being a little bit longer than a bit shorter? Definitely. Okay. Um the only thing is bunker just right side basically underneath those trees. Oh yeah. Anything left there’s one bunker back left over there. But for the most part anything through the green is fine too. Oh wow. Stay. Just took a little bit too much off it. Yeah. It’s uh visually it’s very very intimidating visually. It looks like a par four, doesn’t it? How it does? It really does. How’s that a par three? I I have this I have this thing. I never trust a par three with a fairway. Yeah, it’s a valid Very valid, right? But you’re going to find a lot of those here today. Don’t want to be the bearer of bad news. But what you reckon or a chipmate? I from here it’s going to uphill left to right. Yeah, it’s going to break pretty hard off the start and then like through here it should come back to the right. Um I think once you get up here it’ll kind of flatten out. Okay. Um so if I chip it over that or put it through I personally would chip it over. Just going to chip it over this first bit. A little bit of check with a 54 and just let it release. Still going to turn a touch left to right. Yeah, it should. As you kind of get to the hole, not going to be as severe as the front, but it’ll still come back to the right. Oh, that chipping lesson was so good. Looks like it. It’s huge. All right, two under through four. So far so good. Your glasses. I know. I mean, get Jacob’s glasses. Look at him. Bless him. I can’t see. Like a conservator on a warm summer’s morning. [Music] This par five. Par five. Yeah. Down straight ahead. Go over the water. And green’s up top. Back up there. So, just like the fairway, I can see. Yeah, you can just straight down the fairway. You don’t want to be too left because you’ll kind of get blocked out by those trees. Okay. Um, if you’re out to the right, you have a little bit of a longer shot in, but you’ll see the whole surface from there. Okay. Nice. So, the kind of bridge in the background. Yep. I’m going to start it at that. Just a touch of draw. Fairway looks like it cambers. Yeah. Just the slightest bit. Um, nothing severe where it’s going to fly fly around out there. Hold that line. Left edge, doesn’t it? Yeah. It’s safe though. I think you’re in the fairway. Okay. Kind of weird cuz you can see you see that stream and you’re like, “Yeah, but it should be okay.” Yeah, it should be. Pretty sure I saw it rolling up there. Okay. I think I think with a lot of Gilhan’s designs or redesigns or reimaginings, whatever you want to call them nowadays, it does feel like he has big wide fairways and it’s more about just like the angles that you position yourself. And obviously with the Donald Ross course, it’s kind of like a case of just making sure you find find the surface. It’s all going to roll off the front. So exactly. Oh, I’m not sure, Pat. That was that was getting left. Okay. Yeah, it looks like we’ve snuck in to the water. It’s a fairly fast flowing stream. So, we’ve kind of had a look and estimated this is where it would have gone in. How far we got in? 210 to the flag, 195 to the front. But again, that’s that front slope, so probably 197. Yeah. Can I play as a 210 shot? Yeah, you can play as a 210 shot. um where that pin is, there should be room on the back side. Again, does slope off the back just the way these greens are. Um so yeah, I think if you have some height in there, 210, you could play it. Coming. Keep coming. Keep coming. All right. Kind of back edge maybe. Yeah, was a bit safe. Kind of left it out a little bit right, but All right. Still got a chance for a par. Can’t play perfect all the time, can you? Just got to take take the punches. Stick to the process. It’s first process today. I personally would want it up past here. Okay. Once you get up here, kind of flat and then I think it’s going to come back. No. Still a really not a weird shot, but it’s not still not entirely sure how to play that kind of lie when it’s like super thick lush like that. I always think it’s going to sprint out of there, but it’s it hit a bit of a jabby stroke that quick coming down that n was a bit of a bit of a weak effort. Bit of a scrappy hole in the end. All right, it’s a bogey. One under. Definitely one of the ones you hope to hope to capitalize on there. Whatever. [Applause] Hole six here. A little bit of history here. This is where Walter Hagen had his hole in one during the practice round um for the Rider Cup. There’s a little plaque back there. Oh, really? Yes. Yeah. Lots lots of interesting little things here. There’s more up on the back as well. We saying this is his first his first and only hold first and only I believe. That seems so random. I know. I mean I mean a lot of great players only have one holding one. So how far to this? We got got 169 playing 172. A little bit down. Yes. A little bit down. And everything you see there is false front. Okay. The back side does slope off severely into a bunker on the back. Oh, that back left side. That right side. You have lots of room on the right. And 170 is just like a nice smooth eight. Mhm. Does that feel all right to you? Yeah, absolutely. [Music] All right. Try the pin. Decent strike. Once you get over that hump that’s there, should play pretty pretty flat. So, it’s going to like move left here. Yeah, it’s going to move left off of that. And then from there, kind of still moves a little left. So, just a little bit more down, isn’t it? There. So, I just off this bit. It really kicked it. Okay. Felt a little bit nervous on that one. I had a lot of comments actually recently. I just want to say thank you to a lot of people about Oh, was that our We’re down one more. Jeez. Say thanks. A lot of people have been commenting on the um competition video saying how much they’re enjoying them and yeah, it it’s good because we’ve we’ve done a lot of work in that regard to try and make sure we can film comps and try and make them interesting. So, if you are enjoying them, thank you very much. [Music] I’m kind of struggling to understand like these this this yardage, but what’s going on? I just want Oh, back to here. So, 412, right? Yep. So, that Sorry, that bunker in the background there. So, that bunker there, I can give you a number. Um, from the these it’s 281 to the front of that. 281. Yeah. And there’s fairway all to the right. Okay. So, I’m kind of like a little cut off that. Yes. I think that’s a great great great line. Or just slightly left of it, which will be be fine as well. A little bit of little bit of less going on, mate. Just a touch. Just a touch. Just a touch. There’s another shelf on the the top side. Right. Okay. Um so if you keep it on that front side, you’ll have a better putt. Okay. Um 144. Found the bunker. Full one of this is like a 150. So just a touch off that. Have a fair bit spin out of the bunker. Carry it. That’s okay. Got a little bit a little bit static in the old feet. Old school rakes then. Look at that. Yeah. What excellent technique you have everyone watching after all the trainings I’ve done. That’s just wonderful. It’s like I’ve barely been there. Amazing work. Well done. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Okay, found the top level. Bit pulley. I would go up here and let it. It’s just going to slip all the way, isn’t it? Yep, it will. I mean, if it didn’t hit the hole, it was It’s a seven iron. Yeah. So, we’ve got that go for us. But that was quick down there. Yeah, that it just catches pace. Uh just right edge. Yeah, absolutely. Just needed it in harder than that. Up the slope. Got away with it. But like that’s just a bit weak on that put there. It’s like one of those things in golf that almost universal. Like if you hit your first put too hard, it’s almost it’s almost impossible to hit your second put with any pace. I’m pretty sure I’m right saying that. 198 to the stick. 198 to the stick. Par threes around here are um strong. Front is 172. So pin towards the back. So yeah, you got a lot of room. A little bit downwind. This is my 185 club, so should be enough to carry it to the middle of the green. Yeah, looks like there’s a fair bit of room over that bunker to the right. Yep. There’s a lot of room over the bunker to the right. It extends all the way back. So the right side of that bunker, there’s green behind it. Okay. And then there’s just rough on the back side. Come on. Come on. Be good. I mean, might be the weirdest swing I’ve ever put on a golf club. It doesn’t initially look like it’s going to do much. It shouldn’t. Maybe a hair right to left. Yeah. I’m thinking inside right though. I’m not going to No, not not much. Not sure if that just came off a little bit left or it went left, but whatever happens. Went a little left. Just came off. It uh you finished in the bottom of the hole. So that’s the main thing. Got a bad front a just stand there, don’t you? Yes. Very bad. [Music] You can hit driver. There’s nothing up there that’s kind of going to get you in trouble. There’s a bunker all the way up there. Um but nothing else regardless. So just got fairway straight ahead. Does slope off to the right. So okay, nothing that’s going to bother me apart from the forest. No, it’s a confident golfer who steps onto this tea and says, “There’s nothing up there to bother me.” But you know what, Pat, you’re right. There’s nothing up there to bother me. Going to hit driver. I’m going to sling it down the middle of the fairway. Stand the fairway. Yep. Yeah. I don’t know if it’s just cuz I’m I’m a bit stiff after this week, but I wouldn’t say I’m u I’m at my free flowing best right now. Seems to be working out though. One on the parading into the ninth. Good position to be in. Obviously never played here before. So you say it’s past 70. Par 70. So three par fives, five par 3es. I think my perfect golf course is 666. Mhm. So 65, 64, 63s. But a few more par threes. I think that’s good. You just don’t want to be powerful to death, dear. Yeah, that’s that’s the only thing. And they’re long. 114 playing 118. Goble on the front. Is that the noise they mate? Wild turkey. 114 playing 118. It’s about 94 to the front. 114 playing 118. Yeah. Okay. A little bit up bit wind off the left one. Just a touch chunky. A false front’s come back, of course. How could it not be a false front? Should have thought of that. Um, yeah, just on these up slopes. I’m really struggling to like move. Okay. Up the hill. A little bit right to left. I just got Donald Ross false front spin back. It’s fairly straightforward. Really kind of pitch it up there. Let it go right to left up the slope. Mhm. Just release a touch. Almost checked up a lot of on that first bounce. Yeah, it did check it pretty good. Like but I like it. Yeah, as far as like the shot I was trying to play, it wasn’t too bad. Just had a lot of grip on the first bounce. Hammered it. Just hammered it. Well, that is nine holes. Level par. Not awful, but that’s like two two very sloppy bogeies. that two sloppy bogeies. I mean, the par five in the water. However, it’s all right. Yeah, we’re still in the hunt for a gold medal. We’re still playing all right. [Music] To the front. It’s 155. Then 166. A little bit down. Yeah. Down, but into like a 170 shot. Yeah, I think that’s going to be perfect. There’s a little slope that goes up the to the top. Not like a shelf, but slopes up there. So, come on. Wind. It’s in that right bunker. First visit to a uh Worcester bunker. Yeah, it’s fairly flat. Um, if anything, it’s probably gonna turn a little left. Oh, Pete, is it harder than that? Just a little bit left to right here. Yeah. Never got it started out enough. Well, that is two sloppy bogeies in a row. That which is a shame. Still got some birdie chances. Want to try and get this back the bar. [Music] a defining moment in the game of golf. And we’re not talking about this course. We are talking about the 1925 US Open. So, Bobby Jones had a chance of winning this event. And on the side of this hole, is the left of this hole? Yeah. Left rough. His ball moved uh when he was addressing it. Now, in golf, if that happens, you call a penalty on yourself. And you would hope that most golfers are honest enough to do so. However, this is the US Open on the line here, so it takes a matter of courage and conviction to be able to call the penalty upon yourself. And he ended up losing out to big Willie McFaran. So, it was kind of one of those moments of sportsmanship that really define golf, but kind of defined Bobby Jones as well. Absolutely. Special place and really does define the game of golf. Yeah. So, it says here, “When praised by the press, Jones said, “You might as well praise me for not robbing the bank. There’s only one way to play the game of golf. There you go. And he never he also never robbed the bank. So that we know of. So thank you for that. Robert, every now and again I seem to go through and Sam knows this cuz he’s filmed quite a few of my comments recently. I seem to go through just a little patch in every round where I kind of lose my focus and my concentration. And I think those two holes were it. I think this set for me personally, same stretch of holes. you lose that focus. This hole and the next hole for me kind of always bring me back when I’m out here. So, I think this next set of holes will set you up pretty good. So, we got 418 par4. You can see the top of the pin down the corner there. Yeah. Um you’ll probably want to go just left of that big tree straight in front of us. That line Yeah, it’s left semi. Yeah, I actually struck that one pretty well. So, it’s you’ll see all the surface from there. Okay, cool. Thank you. Okay, I think that that was a good spot to be. That was actually like a one of those that I struck well and it’s actually missed in a in a good spot. How far we got? 100 to the flag. 100 to the flag. Yep. There’s a ridge that kind of runs just in front of it. Uh this green’s funky. This is one of the bigger parts of the restoration. They changed this entire green. Really? And they added in this cross bunker here which is from the original course. Oh, nice. So when they were tearing things up, Gil Hance, they found this shape and they decided to keep digging and they found 100-y old bunker sand from the original course. So they decided to restore it and this is what it looks like now. So they found a 100y old bunker sand. Yeah. [Laughter] Turn of turn turn of the century. People wonder why I lose focus. Right. Come on. 100 yards. In a month or so when it’s all firmed out. My word. Yeah. Kind of down a slope and then up a slope. Yep. What do you think of the end? Going to straighten out a touch or I think it’s going to straighten out. So once it comes off this hill, it’ll be pretty flat there. So, probably not too much outside. I’m thinking by the around here pace again a lot there. Must admit I thought that was going to slow up a lot more than I thought it was. To be completely honest, I thought it was too. It looked like it was more uphill from there. You did it. Good part. You did it. Wow. How you getting into that? It felt like there was a lot on that. You know what I mean? That that hole kind of felt quite quite heavy. Felt like there was a lot riding on it. Felt like there was a a moan in time there where this round could have gone sideways. Come on. One over, but it feels like I just made a birdie. [Music] So, we’ve got 420 from this T box straight ahead. You can see the flag through the sprinklers. Yeah, there’s a big slope on this right side of the fairway. So, anything right side will come back down. Okay. Too far up on the right, there’s bunkers there. So obviously left is better. There’s a lot of fairway to work with down there. Um it just does slope down. Where did the bunkers kind of start on the right? Bunkers start on line with the pin from um a little bit more right probably in between that sprinkler there and where the other one’s spraying that kind of gap there. Gotcha. If that makes sense. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Just hold it a touch wind. Yeah. And that left semi. Got a little bit of left going on today. It’s a good strike. And I suppose that’s the safe side to miss, isn’t it? So, yes, definitely. You’re going to be in a good spot. In a good spot for a miss there. Good spot for a miss. Okay. It is toasty. This is American summer right here. Sprinklers have left a nice sheen on the ball. Hopefully clean grooves channel that water away from impact or I’m going to get a flyer and end up in that front room. That’s all we got. 146 to the stick. You can’t see the surface again. False front. So, um to the top of that false front, it’s 130. So, okay. So, like a 150 shot. Yeah, there’s not much to worry about up there. That’ll be good then. Very good. Cheers, mate. That was a good strike. That was on a little ups slope as well, though. Made a real concerted effort to get moving left. By the way, the sprinklers in a bit of heat. It’s like we’re being brazed right now. What is this effect? We just don’t know. We’re like we’re at the lowest point of the course and we’re effectively in like a shallow frying pan. We’re like being simmered. Yeah. Wow. It’s It’s insane. It’s unbelievable. All right. Come on. Hope everyone put some sun cream on this morning. Well, from where it’s pitched and where it’s ended up, I know it’s going to be left to right. It’s kind of flat, actually. Yeah, it’s pretty flat. And yeah, everything’s going to move that way. Move this way. [Music] Do you know one of those where you stand over it and it it just didn’t feel that left to right. So, I kind of like shoved it a bit, but all right, that’s two parts in a row. Building up a little bit of momentum again. I think we’re going to finish stronger. I think we are going to as well. Just got this feeling like my my body’s loosening up a little bit. Turning it on. Not sure I go that far, but you know, I’m warming it up, should we say. I’ve got my foot down on the brake. I’m not quite press just yet. Carry that bunker. It’s 164. Uh wind behind and looks like there’s a massive slope behind this pair. Yep. So, there’s a tier up top on the left. On the right side, there’s no tier. So, anything you hit past is going to roll up and roll back towards the pit. Nice. So, and how far was it? Sorry to cover the bunker. 164. So, 160 is a just like a solid nine. So, if I hit that or 17 kind of fiveish is a hard eight. So, probably first full. I think a Yeah, wind’s helping. Yeah, I think like a nine. Just basically straight at it. Straight at it. And just I think that 170 number is that I think that’s a good good recommendation cuz you have room between the bunker and the pin, right? Okay. So just an eight. Yeah. I think and there is that massive bank behind, isn’t there? Yes. Yeah. So I think anything long longer is better, right? Okay. Go down that slope then. Keep going then. It’s pretty good. All right, we’re cooking. We are cooking. Literally like No, lit. No, you literally we are cooking. All right, so down the slope a little bit off the right. Yeah, I feel like I want to get it moving just past that. Mhm. It should come right back. Dang. Wow. Put the keys in the ignition. Oh, what? What is it? I just got three things to say. God bless our troops. God bless America. Got to run out of energy to do it. Just have just play the clip. Let’s just play the clip. Start your engine. [Applause] I always [Music] Yeah. How you getting on? Right. Right. 14th. Talk to me, Pat. What’s going on? 427 straight ahead. There’s those couple bunkers on the left there. Uh that first one you won’t have to worry about. That other one up there is 305 to the front. Okay. Um but you got a lot of fairway to work with. So I say good good line is the guy straight ahead kind of straight middle of the fairway. Okay. So line here the middle of the fairway. Sorry. Oh, right. Come on. Like come on. Let’s Let’s snap. Let’s snap to this. Come on. Level par. Five balls to go. Just a bit left, but okay. Oh, that was a swing. Right. Absolutely. I’m back, mate. I’m back in the world of the the sensible. Back in the world of you civilized people now. Where are you from, Batman? Get in the car. My boy’s wicked smart. Help me, Pat. That pin looks like it’s towards the back. It is. You’ve got 129 to the pen. The screen is a little funky. The front portion is kind of like very narrow. Okay. So, you have a lot of room back there with the pen. It’s kind of into as well. Mhm. So, 129. Just try and like drive a little bit of a lower one in there. I’m going to try and like play the number. And with a bit of wind, it should hold it up. If this is about like 10 12 short, that’s fine. Very safe. That was very safe. Do you the divot mix or I have the divot mix, but if you got the divot, how about we do a bit of both. If you give it a base, give like a bit nice sandy biscety base. Yeah. And we can like match it back together. Well, that in looks like I’ve never been here. God, should start a new channel. Do you want to start an aronomy channel with Yes, I mean it’s been it’s been on the cards for a while. Pete and Pat’s perfect patchwork of perfect putting surfaces. You got this planned out. Admittedly, it’s still in the early stages. It’s moving a little right to left. Yeah. Um, not too much though because it flattens out up here and it’s more down. It comes back towards you. So, I think you’re maybe two cups. I got to come back and look, but I think two cups out to the right. Smacked it again. Oh, Pete, they’re quick. Like a few are left like that distance past just on the left edge. Let it like just dribble. Yeah. And it’ll trickle. It’ll trickle down this and come come in from there. So yeah, I think left edge it’s a good spot. There we go. needed that good solid fist pump that isn’t it? See that’s I always check that we’ve got a good connection there. If you look at this look look fits right like a knuckle buddies. Look at that. Perfect. In sync right we made a level par. We got a very very nice looking par five coming up next. So me and Sam are just kind of walking up there. It’s like a bit lake districty. That’s what it feels like. If you’ve ever been to Lake District in the UK with a few exposed rocks, like the low running walls around the fields, like these little gentle slopes. Uh the only thing lacking really is sheep. Uh but we’ve got wild turkeys instead. So, you know, winter messes. [Music] Guys, if you’re enjoying this video, make sure you subscribe to the channel if you haven’t already. And let’s uh Pat, what’s your favorite number? Favorite number. Four. Okay. 4.4,000 likes within the first day. Seems doable. Do it for Pat. Do it for all the Keiths out there. That’s all we got. 595. Wow. So you got a decent ways. Edge of that last bunker out there is 335. All right. Okay. To the front of those stretcher bunkers, it’s 310. So left side of the fairway when we’re going. Yeah. Cuz that frees you up for your second shot. Cuz if you’re too far right, those trees on the right side block you out. Best one of the day. Not going to lie, Pat, that is absolutely massive. It is. That would have carried the bunker at 335. I’m nice and loose and limber. Why can’t I play in 30° all the time? And you guys must be like, “Oh, why can’t we film in 30° all the time?” Oh. Oh, it’s so annoying. Oh. You don’t seem right. Did he turkeys? Just like there’s a lot going on. You got like the massive tail spread. You got this gigantic body. got this long neck, tiny head, and this weird like thing. And look at the size of it. Look at how it walks. It looks so uncomfortable. How far we go? So, I paced it off 200 approximately to the center of the green. Okay. Um I couldn’t get a a number on it with the scope from here. Um, the way this green works, there’s a bunker front left, two bunkers on the right side. One stretches the length of it, one’s just on the corner here. Okay. So, where that pin is, it’ll be right side of the green. So, you have a little bit of green to work with left. Um, but long is is trouble. Ah, come on. Maybe bunker’s right. Ah, just a bit. I was a little bit necky there. Didn’t quite get the strike. Sorry. Sorry. Okay. No need to apologize. I do. No need to apologize. It only really seems to happen when I like I hit a dodgy shot. I like want to take over like the bag. I want to like get some. I would be I would be the same way. Just what you’re comfortable with. It’s annoying. But I’m getting in the way of you doing your fine job. Yeah. No, no, not at all. I I don’t mind. you’re helping me out if you’re putting it back while I’m fixing divots. It’s a It’s a team effort. Okay. Okay. High enough. Stop. Ah, US Open out here on that up slope. I didn’t need to go that um I didn’t need to go that steep. I was trying to like almost chunk and run it, but on an ups slope doing that, it’s just going to drive the club in. I would be personally I’d be out here. Yeah. Just cuz I think this slope is going to pull it on the way up. Turn. Oh. Oh man, that was a good P. Great putt. Can actually the Yeah, I was more confused about line. I didn’t think that was going to stop short, but kind of shows the difference uphill and downhill on these greens is Yeah, it’s quite a test. Okay, it’s a par. That leaves us with a birdie, a bogey, and a par on the par fives, which isn’t great. [Music] We have 420 yards from here. Got a cross bunker right in the middle there. That’s kind of the first thing you see. Uh that to the front from here is 265. So then back edge of that is 286. 286. It’s into wind, but it’s downhill. Yeah. Think we can clear it? I think you can clear it or you can take it left. There’s a little more landing area there and then it’ll kind of feed its way down to the fairway. Gotcha. Everything kind of rolls here. Keep going. Keep going then. I think that’s far enough left to be okay. Yeah. Really, really, really, really snapped my hands over at the end of that one, but it’ll be in play there. You’ll have you’ll still have an angle in. Um, so it shouldn’t be shouldn’t be anything bad. Is that why? Hey, that’s a flyer. Do you want a line of sight or No, it’s literally right in the middle of the trunk of the uh tallest tree there. 129 into a flyer slightly down. Is there anything short of the green in our line? Short on our line? No. Um, nothing. It’s just rough. Yeah, I just pulled it. Pulled it towards the center of the green. Sorry, giving you No, all good. I didn’t need to there. Just let the man do his job. Quicken up a little bit. Not feeling much brake to be honest. No, cuz it’s coming downhill this way and then you got a little bit from this side. So, it’s going to stay pretty straight. That’s just In all fairness, it is actually breaking up the slope that way. Yeah, it at the end there, it took off up that way. But again, pacewise. So that to me looks inside right nicely up the slope. Mhm. It’s just gone left. Oh, Pete. What time? What time to chuck in a three whack. Oh, that was just a bad Cheers, boys. Thank you. Just a bad first. Bad first put. [Music] So cut down like the right middle with a draw. Right middle with a draw. Yep. And the green is like straight down. Yeah. Straight down from there. Um once we get up there, you’ll see. All right. Pretty good. Should be good up there. Yeah, we bit towy, but at one over par after 17 holes on a a Rider Cup US Open, women’s US Open course I’ve never played before. Be positive. Well, 5 yards to the right hand side, it would have kicked onto the fairway. If I’d gone 7, eight yards further on this line, I’d have been another 25 further on. But as it stands, I’m on top of the hill and 161 playing 147. 161 playing 147. Wind off the right. You can land it short. It’ll move back to the hole. My stance is going to be a wee bit awkward. So I might have to hit like a low a low scuttly draw in there. Yeah. And everything right everything kind of collects front right side. Okay. Well done. Wow. Shot of the day. Shot of the day. All I need is the first ever RDER Cup course, host of a US Open, men’s and women’s, to just challenge me sufficiently. nowadays. Yeah. You know, when you reach just a a new level of the game, Absolutely. you need harder challenges. You do. Go joking on my own BS. So, it’s not I don’t think it’s that much. You don’t think? I think it looks it. Okay. I’ve got it. See where the old cup is? Just in front. Yes. I’ve got it. I’ve got it going through the middle of that. Middle of that. Yeah. I like that. You were right. Straightened up massive. He like he straightened up up the hill. Yeah, I must admit that that was a I know he missed, but I’d probably say that was one of my best putts as far as actual linement. Yeah. So, it’s pretty pretty simple. I bury the last for a gold medal. If not, I settle into that silver. But we have had some quite a few gold so far this year. I’ve been playing some decent golf. This feels like one of the first scratch golfers done in a while though cuz most have been comps that we’ve played. [Music] What do you reckon, Pat? What should we do? New series. I think set a goal. Each time you break that goal, you just keep going lower. Keep chipping down. Lower. Yeah. Start at 90. Yeah, you could start it at 90. Should have done that today. Really, shouldn’t we? We been leaving it really positive, right? I mean, straightforward. Look, look. This looks like you can just imagine US Open fairway in a bit more rough like knee high crowds either side of the fairway grand stand just to the right just to the left. Clubhouse left clear. Mhm. All the members sat out front. Come on, Pete. Come on. Let’s go. Let’s go. Is it just driving straight down, mate? Yeah. 360. Um, which you’ll carry top of the hill. Um once you’re up there, there’s no nothing in the fair fairway that that’s trouble. Um and you’ll have a relatively flat area with shot right at the green up there. I didn’t hear anything. No, there’s just rough over there. So, man, still have an angle in. I mean, I’ve come all the way through uh the trees and I’ve ended up on the tea of the fifth par five. Um, which is great. Gives me a good lie, but it also leaves me downwind off a tie line over a cavernous bunker. Is there any slope I can use to the left or So, there’s a whole slope that runs the middle of the green cuz it’s two tiers. So, you can use that slope on the left. You get it up there, it’ll come back and feed down to that side. Um, so yeah, you can use that left side. There’s slope all the way along there. Okay. How far is it to the pin? You got 65 to the pin. Be good. I’ve hit that so well. is the one thing I couldn’t have done. But at the same time, I showed my hand as well then when I said it, didn’t I? I thought that was really good distance-wise. Should have been bang on downwind. But is it like the very top there? I’m saying devastating actually. Like it’s the it’s kind of the game we’re playing at another one and a half yards. And we’re running up here to see if it’s gone in. So it’s not the best lie. Just got to open up this face. That’s even worse lie. Oh, Worcester. Worcester is causing me some headaches. Second shot seemed pretty good. I mean, whatever happens is going to be a silver. So, it’s kind of like, okay, so hold this. It’s going to leave me too overpar. Can I be too upset with that? Really thinking about it. I think maybe the way I started a real momentum build behind it. But hey ho. Well, we finished with a five. We did. It was all or nothing, mate. Pleasure. Thank you so much. Thank you for coming. That was absolutely brilliant. That was awesome. What spot? Unbelievable. Thank you, Worcester Country Club for having me down. for allowing us to spend a very pleasant morning. 72, not too bad. Got a work to do with me driving. Yeah. First of all though, time to go into the pool, guys. See you next time.

About half way through watching this video i got a text from a member asking if i want to play there tomorrow. Obviously i said yes
Peter "America's Sweetheart" Finch! Another wonderful video!
That bunker on 18 was evil! Another couple of yards and you’d be by the hole for a birdie and that gold medal. Could see what the members in the background thought of it in no uncertain terms 😅Great course though and another good caddie! Pat n Pete just rolls off the tongue. Loving the historical aspects of your recent rounds. Considering you’ve never played there before +2 is a good round. Doing old Blighty proud with your performance and how you carry yourself. When you hang up the clubs in many years time maybe consider an ambassadorial role? Thanks Pete!
Every time I go out and play golf. My goal. Keep Peters Tempo. When I do? I play great. When I don’t? Well…
@37:55 "the line is straight middle of the fairway"…..😂😂😂😂 Now I know where I've been going wrong! Thanks. I'll give that a go! Seriously, the caddie was just a genuinely nice guy!
Great video as always Pete, your starting to become more like Gary Neville with the Huell adverts love it😂😂
Never trust a par 3 with a fairway # Classic
Love to see PF vs the caddies
Great vlog, Pat very good caddy, good luck to him with his PGA, would love to see you playing with Ron Chopper, you both have the same easy approach and come across well on camera
The team are obviously leaning into their late 70s musical era. Loving the soundtrack!
22:44 I was nervous on that one 😅
You were setup a little left from the start based on where you said you were aiming. (Inside right)
You’re on a good roll so far! I’m not skipping forward. I bet you wind up at -2
Pete I understand you require sponsors to help provide content and do what you do but in my humble opinion it cheapens your content and quality of your videos. I see you doing ‘my sponsors bit ‘and I just want to switch off! Perhaps it’s just the cheesy way you do it on a segment away from your normal content which consistently is excellent. Just saying!
Only 1 hole in one? You’ve got 1.5 hole in ones do you not… Dubai✍🏼
Loved this Pete
Peter Finch is the man. I'll pay you $1k to play a round here in South Carolina lol!
Forgot to bring your short-game. +2 isn't bad considering you didn't make many putts, & rarely got up & down…
Pete’s and Pat’s agronomy chats
Love this Pete 👊🏻
Why do you put everything off the heel ???
As if the likes are actually at 4.4 thousand😂 what a prediction
Love your stuff Peter. Always quality golf and entertainment. (Side note: your link to the course is for Worcester in UK 😊).
Played here acouple times. Very fun time
Can't believe this course but also green fees makes it a course open to all❤
It's a tossup for me between Peter Finch and Grant Horvat for my fav golf content creators..love your videos.
Oooo Huel is so amazing, it makes my golf soooo much better…no it doesn’t…don't be a sell out, Pete. If i wanted that i'd be watching Rick.
Pete, trademark the white circle around the hole on the green. No one else will use it. It helps my old eyes to see where the ball is to go.
Really enjoyed watching the round lovely course didn't know the Ryder Cup was played there great round Peter for a one off .
The best part of the hole video and lets you know how nice of a guy Peter is, at 41:00 he’s like knuckle buddies😂😂😂 guy is so chill would love to see a round played with some of his subscribers and help them break different levels of scores cause it would just be a chill day with tons of laughs.
I want to know….did he hit his 9 iron 190?
Poor Pat
I enjoyed seeing the layout of this course. Sorry to see you butcher the last hole…
Hilarious S-bomb on 16… 😀
Worcester member here. Thanks Peter for showcasing our club. You sure can move the ball. Bombs on 2, 11 and 14. Keep up the great content.
What a vid lads, love it. Jimmy on fire
Peter, please don't ever do a Boston accent again. Stick to the Texan one.
Consistently enjoyable content 👍
I’m going to the practice day at Bethpage tomorrow. Are you going to be around? Would love to stop by and say hello
Why Scotty Cameron has Velcro head covers will always be beyond me
petes game mentally has change alot. he takes playing the round more like a professional rather than a drunk weekend warrior like he used to a few years ago
