World number one Scotty Sheffller has stepped up to defend his US Rder Cup teammate Bryson Dshambo after golf channel analyst Brandle Shambbley labeled the Iceman a captain’s nightmare. Shambbley 62 made the comments on Live from the Ryder Cup, criticizing to Shambo for allegedly being more focused on his bot assisted YouTube channel than the team. He’s tried to drum some interest up for himself. Shambbley said when asked about Rory’s rhetoric, he didn’t mention this week’s goal, winning the RDER Cup. He didn’t talk about playing as a team or how much that meant. Instead, he focused on his YouTube channel. The numbers there are dubious, probably generated by bots. There’s interest, sure, but that’s what he wants to talk about. Not the team, not the Rder Cup. He’s one hell of a golfer and generous with fans, but he’s an odd duck when fitting into a team. He would be a captain’s nightmare. Sheffller, however, had nothing but praise for Dambo. Speaking to the media ahead of this year’s bianial clash at Beth Page Black, the Open Champion highlighted his teammates energy, competitiveness, and leadership. He’s a tremendous competitor, Sheffller said. He’s a great partner and a good friend. He’s been fantastic in our team room, bringing energy that everyone loves. Representing America means a lot to him, and I’m excited to unleash him this week. This marks the Shambo’s third Rder Cup appearance, but his first representing the US since 2021. Despite finishing 54th on the US points list in 2023, he was disappointed to miss out on Zack Johnson’s team. Much of the pre-ournament chatter has focused on potential pairings for forsomes and four balls involving the eccentra power hitter. Off the course, Sheffller also revealed some behindthe-scenes insight into a President Donald Trump supported US golfers. The president is kind of funny. He loves golf, loves supporting players, and sometimes calls or texts after a win. He feeds confidence in everyone around him,” Sheffller said. When asked what Trump says during these calls, Sheffller laughed. Just great job. With the Shambo’s fiery personality and Sheffller’s backing, Team USA is ready to bring both talent and energy to the RDER Cup showdown in New York.
