Are the Sqairz ProS2 LT golf shoes really worth $199 — or just a quirky-looking design?
In this video, I put them to the test across multiple rounds to see how they actually perform on the course.
The ProS2 LT is unique — with its squared-off toe box designed to give your toes more room, Sqairz claims this provides better balance, stability, and ground connection. But does that design translate to real-world performance?
Here’s what I cover in this review:
⛳ Fit & comfort (including sizing advice and heel rubbing after 9 holes)
⛳ Traction & stability (plastic nubs vs real grip)
⛳ Weight (lighter than previous Sqairz models at just 401g)
⛳ Waterproofing test (spoiler: very impressive)
⛳ Style & design choices (plain looks, long laces, included socks)
⛳ Final verdict: who these are best suited for, and who should look elsewhere
If you’re considering buying the Sqairz ProS2 LT, this review will help you decide if they’re the right golf shoe for your game — or if your money is better spent on alternatives.

These golf shoes look different because they are different. The Squares Pro S2LT has a square toe box that gives your toes more room and promises better stability. Now, over the last few years, Squares have managed to sign some big names as brand ambassadors, such as Sir Nick Fo and PGA Tour and Rider Cup star Sea. But at just under $200, do they actually perform on the course or do they just look unusual for the sake of it? The team at Squares were kind enough to send me over a pair to try out for myself. So, I’ve put them to the test, and here’s what I found. Out of the box, the first thing you’ll notice is the toe box. It’s squared off and roomier than any other traditional golf shoes I’ve tested. And that’s intentional. Squares believe that your toes should spllay out naturally when you exert force into the ground. And their patented shape allows for all five toes to function without cramping in towards the center. In the past, they had a bulky and rather simple look to the design. This latest model is an attempt to bring them in line both in terms of style as well as weight. I’d say that they’ve done a fair job in the styling department. While this all-white pair aren’t really doing it for me, they do also have other colors as well, such as this navy pair. And these are doing a pretty fair job. They’ve certainly come a long way since that first pair that I reviewed a few years ago. Now, I don’t find them the best looking shoes in the world, but I can certainly appreciate that these look far more like regular golf shoes compared to some of their previous iterations. However, one thing that kind of frustrated me a little bit in the design are these laces. Now, it’s not the fact that they’ve got these little rubberized squares all along the way to help keep them stayed in place when you tie them. That’s absolutely fine. But just look at the sheer length of these laces. Means that when I’ve done those shoes up, the bows were kind of flapping around like droopy dogs. In terms of the weight, Squares has clearly made this LT model lighter than any of their previous versions. My size 8 and a halfs come in at around 401 g, which is down from their previous versions and very close to the Painter 87SE, which weighed in at 393 g. The reduced heft of these shoes means that you have less foot fatigue out on the course, and they just generally feel a little bit nicer to walk in, in my opinion. On foot, these shoes are immediately comfortable across the forefoot. It’s very relaxed and a very stable feel. If this was the only thing that mattered, then these shoes would be industryleading. There’s no denying that all the extra space in this toe box area results in a very comfortable natural fit. I do recommend sizing down half a size when it comes to squares. It runs a little bit long in my opinion and they do feel quite flat underf foot. There’s not a huge amount of arch support going on in these shoes. And because I’ve got a very narrow foot, I don’t really feel these shoes across the top, meaning that I don’t feel particularly locked in when I’m wearing them, but I have got a very narrow, slender foot. Now, we’re going to move on to traction and performance. And this is where things get a little bit mixed. Squares make a big claim that these shoes will help you use the ground better. And while the geometry and the wide toe box certainly do help when it comes to balance and comfort, I wasn’t blown away by the traction of these shoes. Why? Because the outsole uses these plastic nubs around the spikes, which I found actually reduce the grip. The flat nubs are simply too long and too firm in my opinion, which reduces the effectiveness of the replaceable spikes on the shoe. Perhaps this is just me and the way that I swing the club, but I like to feel more traction from my shoes, especially across the balls of my foot. So, yes, these shoes are stable, but they’re not the grippiest in my opinion. Now, here’s something that’s very impressive with these shoes, and that’s their waterproofing. They pass my waterproof test with flying colors. Because of the design of the tongue on these shoes, unlike the majority of golf shoes, water doesn’t make it through to my socks. Even in heavy rain, I’m pretty sure that your feet are going to stay seriously dry with these shoes because of that gusseted tongue. And speaking of socks, the pair they include with the shoes are genuinely comfortable. They’re not hidden in any way. You can still see the branding around the edges, but they’re really comfortable for walking in. So, who are the Squares Pro S2 LT shoes for? That name is a serious mouthful. Well, you’ll love them if you want a golf shoe that gives a roomy fit and allows for optimal balance and excellent waterproofing out on the course in what is a reasonably lightweight package. But if you’re looking for the best traction or visual flare, I feel that there are stronger options out there. At just under $200, you’re paying for a shoe that’s doing something unique, not just in marketing, but in its construction and its intent. Squares are a company that are sticking to their ethos and are improving with every design they make. I’ve included any affiliate links down in the description below. And if you’ve worn any of the earlier Squares models, I’d love to hear your experience of them down in the comments. And if you want to see how these shoes stack up against the Painter 87 SC’s that I mentioned earlier, then I’ve included my full review of those shoes right

  2. Never seen or herd of them until now. I actually quite like the look of them.
Even if I tried them on and they were most comfortable golf shoes I had ever tried don't think I would pay over £200 for them.
When you put the shoes on the scales was that cracks appearing in the leather?
