So, you’ve been my dad all my life. You know that? As far as I know.
What? Guys, welcome back to the channel. Today
is going to be a special video. We’ve got a 9 hole golf scramble out here at
Country Hills, and I’m joined by a man I’ve known all my life—my dad. We are
going to be playing from the forward tees, and we’re going to try to break 36. This
is going to be fun. It’s going to be real special because you’re going to feel really good
about your golf game after you see how I play. Dad, how you feeling about it?
Oh, good. Good. It’s good to be out here off work today, you know, hanging
out with my son. Beautiful weather, beautiful course. I mean,
what else could you ask for? All righty, Dad. As always, you are the
guest of the channel. You can lead us off. Yeah. Okay. Oh, look at
that. That sounded so good. Oh, yeah. But look at it. Uh-oh. Yeah. Right. All
right. Didn’t even indicate. Here we go. Uh-oh. I lost it. Hooked. Uh, it went left. I
think it’s in that trench over there on the left. I can put a tee down or—
Yeah, that’s fine. We’ll grab a club or whatever. We’re good.
The people saw where we were, so PGA officials aren’t out here.
We’re not out here to win money. Good strike.
Ah, get over. Oh, stay, stay up. No. Dang, dude. Got robbed.
Yeah, buddy. Smooth swing. Come on, let’s get over
the bunker. It’s all I ask. Okay, we’re over the bunker. All right,
stay, stay. Yeah, no one behind us. Yeah, no one behind us. Shout out to Country Hills
for not only letting us film out here today, but also, since we’re playing nine
holes, they let us start on the back. So, thank you guys. If any of you from
Country Hills ever watch this video… Dad, how are you feeling now that
you’re an official YouTube golf guy? If I get one follow, I’ll be happy. You
can follow him on Instagram, Rio2008. Remind me real quick on…
So, for just a bumping run… Mhm. You’re basically going to just
make a V with your arms and swing the V. Okay. Kind of like a putter swing?
Yeah. Oh, good contact. It just stopped right on
the fringe. Did you see the water spray? Yeah. I thought he was skiing.
Yeah. Oh, sweet Lord. I bladed it.
Sweet Lord. Rooster tail. We only need to be one under. So, if we
can get this in for par, that’ll be great. All right. Got to factor in the wet factor. Yeah. Wow. Look at that. That’s really good. Good
thing about morning golf: at least we got a line. Yeah. You got your own tracer on the green.
Yeah, that’s it. It’s stuck on the lip. Say we are even right now. All we need to
be is one under. I think we got this. Now, the caveat is this next hole: from the reds
for the ladies, it’s actually a par five. Yeah, but for men it’s a par four.
Oh, I don’t know. Should we play it as a par five? What do you think?
No. Well, I don’t want my man card to get taken. Okay. So, we probably should
play it as a par four. Okay. Yeah, I’m down. All right, guys. Just to explain our confusion
going into hole 11: I’ll try not to give away our score because it ended up being better than
we thought. Hole 11 is a par four for men if you’re playing from the golds and further back.
Hole 18 is a par five for men if you’re playing from further back. By the end of the video, you’ll
see why. For this nine, it evens out to a par 36. Let’s get back into hole 11. The safe play is
just to put it in the fairway over there. The driver may not be the best move from here.
Yeah. Well, I think I’m going to try to get aggressive and take a driver through this gap
of trees. Okay, and try to land it on the green. All right. I didn’t know if
you wanted to play it safe. I will. Ah, catch ground.
That’s what’s going to happen. Yeah, it’s okay. Oh, she got over. Beautiful. So, you got me into golf pretty
much. I don’t know if you remember. I remember. I bought you a three-piece
Snoopy golf set when you were little, and I took you to the driving range.
Yeah. We would go. I don’t remember if we ever played an actual round, but…
No. Uh, yeah. You had kind of a natural swing,
and I’m glad you got back into it because it’s a challenging but fun game. I just don’t
get to come out nearly enough to get good. So you’ve actually been dealing
with back issues, and this is maybe your third or fourth time playing this year.
Yeah. That’s another reason why I wanted to do this video with these specific parameters, where
we play from the reds and only do nine holes, so my dad doesn’t have back issues.
Yeah, 18 holes kills me. You can get through nine pretty well.
Oh, just shy of that bunker. Sometimes being aggressive pays off.
It does. You want me to go first?
Yeah, it might determine what I do. Okay. A little less pressure on you.
Something like that. It’s kind of a little loinsky over the bunker here. Let’s
get over. Beautiful. Got over. Oh my goodness, it’s beautiful. Little deep, but that’s
okay. That was a good strike. Dad’s ball went a little deep, but mine ended up pretty good. I’m way over here, guys. How are you
seeing this one because of the wetness? I’m aiming for that leaf because I’m going
to try to leaf it right next to the hole. That’s it for the video, guys.
We’ll see you later. Thanks for watching. Make sure to like and subscribe. Turn, baby. Whoa. Way faster than I
thought. Holy smokes, I missed it low. Oh boy, that’s unfortunate, but that’s
okay. We’re getting to play golf today. Solid money from 3T in, folks. We’ve got a
par three coming up, and it is how far? 105. I’ll throw that up there. Knowing me, I’ll throw
it up there and throw my back out. Don’t do that. Oh my gosh, it’s right at it.
Going home. It’s a little short, but it’s good. I’m going to take a 52. My
rangefinder was malfunctioning again. So, if any rangefinder companies want to sponsor me,
that would be great. I was getting 113, 117, 126. Looks good. Cut, baby. Come on. Looks
good. I don’t know if that’s on or not. Yeah, we’ll find out when we get up there.
Appears to be breaking to the right. Well, yeah, a little left to right. I’d go
right here. Feels like a one-and-a-half. Yeah, that’s a good roll. Just a dry
day. I think it would have gone in. Oh yeah, definitely. I think
that was the line, though. Dang, you had the speed. Yeah, we both
scared it. So, that’s not bad. No bogeys. This hole is a bit of a weird one, Dad. It’s a
par four. We could technically go for the green, but there’s a pond that runs all the way over.
Yeah. I’m going to take from the whites. I can take a five-wood and land it on the green.
I may take a five-iron to ensure we get over the green.
Okay. Oh, pulled it left. That’s
going to hit the squirrel. Oh my god, it might.
Oh no. Okay, that’s okay. The pond doesn’t go left. It’s safe.
Yeah. I just sliced it. Slicing and dicing, baby. Yeah, I think I swung too hard. Mine felt
good on contact, but I yanked it to the left. Mhm. Felt like I was playing for the Yankees.
Yeah. I got really lucky. I’m going to say 60 yards. 60
yards. 66, Hawkeyes over here. Dialed in like the $6 million man. The goal here
is just to hit a good shot so dad doesn’t even need to hit. That would mean hopping it in
the hole. And I wouldn’t be mad about that. Clump stop. Easy. That was a
good shot. It’s not terrible. No, it’s on the green. Good. It’s a birdie putt. Little farther to the right, and that could
have ended up totally different. Yeah. I’ve been shanking my wedges recently,
so I’m glad that came off clean. Go, baby. Come on. That’s
rolling. Turn, baby. Turn. Dude, I’m going to be honest. I like your shot
better. We’re going to go with mine because mine is an uphill slight right-to-left.
Dad’s was a downhiller right-to-left, so it might be a double breaker. Yeah, so might
just go straight at it. Yeah, I’ll give us a line. I don’t know if I’m that much of a better putter.
So, what do you think? Straight was the play? Yeah, it was straight and then fell off a little.
That little leaf is right there to the right. Go, baby. Oh wow, that thing didn’t move. Probably
a fine line between breaking and not breaking. Yeah. You already put it in, right?
I did. We got a par. Taylor Swift. Let’s see what you got.
Oh, baby. Taylor Swift pulled it a little left of where I wanted, but that’s okay. I’m
trying to stick to my routine and process. Then I hit a bad shot, and
I don’t know what happened. Very nice. A little towy. It’ll be in line with
that crooked tree, even though we’re at Country Hills and not Crooked Tree.
Right. Right. I don’t do as good of dad jokes as my dad does.
You’ve only had not quite 18 months—actually, not quite two years—of being a dad. So yeah,
trying to perfect it. Your dad jokes will get better as you have more kids.
That’s true. So, you’ve been my dad all my life. You know that? As far as I know.
What has been your favorite golf memory with us, if you can recall?
That’s a good question. That’s okay. I may just have to get out. We lost two balls on this hole.
Yeah. I don’t think we did. No way. There’s no shot. This rough is kind of deep.
We’ll circle back to your question in a minute. All right, guys. This is the
tree where the ball was going. This stuff is pretty thick. Dad and I
looked—we can’t find either ball—so we’re going to take a drop right here.
Yeah, that’s good. Perfect. By the way, quick note: I
know the pros can go down and do this, but that’s a new USGA
rule—dropping from there is allowed. Look at him. Oh, baby. That might be right of the
hole. It’s right at the hole. Look at it, dude. That’s redemption right there, baby. Yeah, dude. This is why I need a
cameraman—so we could see that. All right, I’m going to take a drop. At least
we got par secured because that is… I’m not kidding. My dad hit it literally three inches
from the hole. I’m going to try to haul this out. Not going to go. Not a bad shot, though.
My dad’s got the mits, man, I tell you. Okay, guys, here’s my ball, and here is
where my dad chipped his to. Absolutely insane. Channel my inner Scotty Scheffler.
There he is, and the crowd goes wild. The crazy thing about playing from the reds is
you get such a distance advantage. Even if you have to drop, you can still manage to save
par. We’re chilling, baby. We’re chilling. Shall we go back to your
answer about best golf memory? Okay. Best golf memory… I’d say maybe
not so much playing golf as getting to go to some tournaments and watch the
pros do what they do and make it look so easy. Really cool times hanging out.
We both love golf—probably you more than me. And when you were really little,
watching you swing the little clubs… No big 282 par four. Got my EMJ balls out.
Shout out to EMJ Steel out of Charlotte, who supplies a lot of our raw materials
for our business, which is machining, by the way. Look us up. Shameless plug. Oh boy. Woo! I got it. It’s right
there. Got eyes on it. Don’t worry. Beautiful. Should be fine. Beautiful.
Yeah, I think I wanted it too much. Ah, yeah. Tell you what, I’m going
to hit one for funsies. Go ahead. You’ve always said if golf was a game
of second chances, you’d be on the tour. Yes, yes. So, when I find that league, I’ll join. If I may vent for a second, go ahead. That
last hole… one thing I can’t stand is having two good drives off the tee and not being
able to find the ball. Excuse my language, but that’s buffalo droppings.
Whoa. Sorry, we’re family-friendly. Just kidding. You’ve watched my videos,
you know I get frustrated now and then. I just came back from the West—Montana
and Wyoming. We saw a lot of buffalo. You think we are… we’re way down
there. Oh, there’s my second shot. Yeah. You kidding? This is
YouTube. This is your first drive, Dad. I edited that first drive. Perfect.
That’s what most YouTube golfers do. Yes. So, you think you’re even further down?
I think I hit past the green. Kirkland? That’s not me, man. Another Kirkland, but that guy
got it. Whoever was hitting those… sucks. Oh, sorry. Dad, I’m pin high.
Huh? Pin high. Look at you. In case you can’t hear him, pin high. That’s right.
He’s got a mic on. Try to get us close here. Run, baby. Ah, that’s egregious. Not my best
work, Dad. All right, let’s see what I can do. Oh, yeah. Oh, sit down, sit down.
I mean, that’s a birdie putt. That’s really good. Didn’t
quite go for it, as you said. Slow down. It’s just so
fast. Straight. You got this. Oh, same path I took. I might have pushed a little
bit. Uh-oh. Okay, yours ended like right there, but that’s a bogey. It’s fine. First
bogey of the day, but I’m not mad at it. Oh, look at him. That’ll kick right, kick left. Wow. That was a nine iron—pitching
wedge, sorry. I had a nine iron in my hand and I was like, “No, that won’t work.” I’m going
to do like a 3/4 52. I think that’s the club. Uh-oh. All right, uh-oh. Uh-oh. Uh-oh. Oh boy. Oh, look. All right. [Music] Oh, what is happening?
Oh my goodness. What in the world? Okay, I wasn’t aiming for it.
Yeah, it just happened. That’s okay. He’s probably thinking I was nice.
Yeah, just short. He’s going to rake it. He’s going to rake it forever. Probably what,
30–35 yards out, as they say in Ireland. All right. Just want to land this on the other
side of the bunker. Feed it down to the hole, just like that. Looks good. Spinning.
That’s it. Good. Left to the flag. I’ll take it. We got a putt. Go, baby. That’s so good. We got her. We got the hole surrounded
again. All right, guys. As always, if you’ve been enjoying this video,
don’t forget to like and subscribe. I put out new content every week. We’ve got a
couple of cool videos coming down the line. Have you ever played from the red
tees? Let me know in the comments. All right, Dad. This is green light special, baby.
He’s going right to left. I’m going to put it right here. It’s downhill, so speed is a factor.
Do it. Oh my gosh, that was awesome. Missed it low. Oh, had better speed.
Yeah, this is you all day. Go ahead. It’s just finished. Not going to lie, Dad,
my butthole puckered on that one. You’re just finishing the line it took on the way
down. That was such a good birdie putt, Dad. Ah, it’s a par. No strokes lost. Our tees
are over the water. This is a green light par four right here. We’re playing
from the ladies’ tees technically. If we go back to the scorecard from the reds,
hole 11 from the reds is a par five. Basically, 10 and 18 swap out. Four and five on
10, five and four on 18. Still par 36. Where’s the ridge? Drive by. Keep
going. We are way down. This hole is 259 yards. Still got to go over
the water, but just cut the edge. Dan, have you enjoyed today?
Oh, fantastic. My back has been so much better today. Good. And the pressure is so much better.
Good. Would you be interested in doing more of these?
Heck yeah. I think people are going to like it. We’re bringing Taylor Swift back to the dance.
Let’s see what she’s got. I’m not a Swifty, no offense to Swifty fans watching. Dad, that’s right on it. Little left to left.
Should be on the green. It landed on the green. That felt good. Frees me up a little. Go
for the hole. If you’re not 110% committed, you’re 0% committed. I’m not committed
to driver. I’m going to take four iron. 235 is my five-wood. Yeah. You know what,
I’ll take five-wood. Rip it. Whatever you’re feeling. Come on. Something like that.
If it hits the clubhouse, I apologize. Come around, baby. Keep coming. Straighten
out a little. You’re good. To the right. That might have been deep. We’ve got a
little bit of a drive to get to the ball. Let me tell you what I knew about golf as a kid: we used to ride bicycles on the golf
course and go sledding when it snowed. That’s about all I knew until I got older. I
was about to ask, when did you get into golf? Oh, way later in life. My brother
David played, my cousin Donnie played, and Steve moved down here from Wisconsin
35 years ago. He played all the time, and I started playing with him. I’d get
in some baseball tournaments three times a year and maybe a round here or there. Hope
to play more when I retire and get better. My ball went about 260 with a
five-wood. This is going to be a tough one. I’m going to leave
the flag in. Or should I take it out? Doesn’t matter to me. Chances of
actually making it in are pretty slim. The tour average from what—is this like
35 feet?—is single-digit percentages. Drastic slope. Definitely going
right. I’m going to be honest, you see that leaf straight ahead? I would
take it at that. We’re looking at the same thing. Speed’s going to take care of
it. That’s going to be the hard part. Not hard enough. I think that’s the line. Just
got to get it out there further before it starts breaking. Correction—that was actually
the speed. The line just needs to… I think you might even need to go left of that shiny
piece. Maybe even just a little left of that. Slow down, ball. Too much
speed. Tough, tough, tough putt. Let’s go. Good birdie. Way to
finish. First birdie of the day, huh? Yeah. Well, enjoyed it.
Yeah, man. Playing with you. Me too. Well, guys, thank you so much for watching. If
you enjoyed this video, don’t forget to like and subscribe. Like I said on the last hole, we
got plenty of content coming that’s really cool. In the meantime, if you want to find out seven of
my best ways to play golf on just $100 a month, check out this video up here. All right,
thanks for watching. See you guys next time.
