WOLCOTT, Colo.- Charlotte Women’s Golf completed round two on Tuesday (Sept. 22), battling tough conditions in the Golfweek Red Sky Golf Challenge, a three-day, 54-hole tournament held at the Red Sky Golf Course hosted by Golfweek. The Niners finished Tuesday tied for sixth place (589, +13) with Kansas.

Pinky Chaisilprungruang turned in the lowest score for Charlotte in round two going one under par at 71. Wawa Booncharn highlighted the round for Charlotte as she carded a 70 to shoot two under par, tying for eighth on the individual leaderboard at the time.

Red Sky Golf Club, designed by Tom Fazio, features significant elevation changes and a diverse range of terrain. As Fazio describes it, “Red Sky Golf Club not only provides the opportunity to play great golf, but also to encounter dramatic Rocky Mountain landscapes in their pure environmental forms.” Some of the highlights of the course include open sage-covered hills, dense aspen forests, a highland lake, hand-planted sage and juniper bushes, and elaborate bunkers.

COACH’S CORNER

“Our team is excited and grateful to be making this trip out west,” said Head Coach CC McMahan. “The elevation is something the players will have to adjust to as the week progresses, but they are ready for the challenge. We are coming off a great tournament at the Golfweek Fall Challenge and will be looking to find that momentum this week here at the Red Sky Golf Club.”
