Sebastian Munoz joins Garrett to talk about how he deals with Sunday pressure & how to make the most of a good mindset when it matters.

listening here with Sebastian Munoz. And Sebastian, when I think about being out on live and you know, everybody goes through Sunday pressure and dealing with that for you, like what tends to work the best on Sunday. You know, it’s uh I haven’t won in a while on a Sunday, but I have performed pretty good. And I think the days that I perform the best are the days that I can stay in my own way. You know, don’t really think about the consequences of, you know, what happens if I finish first, second, third. Don’t really matter that. Uh just staying in the moment and trying to do the best shot can possibly hit at that moment. So yeah, what are some things that help you stay present to kind of have that kind of mindset? I think really looking at nature. You know, today’s kind of easy this course, you know, with the lake. Uh just kind of looking over to my left on, you know, the back nine just makes it peaceful. Makes me kind of connect with the moment and, you know, kind of stand more relaxed and more focusing what I’m doing. With your swing when you are under Sunday pressure, like what tends to be a tendency with is it transition? What kinds of miss do you have to look out for when you’re under that kind of pressure? Uh, I think uh my miss would be staying on my right side. You know, I I I I try to hit it too hard, too high, and maybe I stay on my on my right side. So, you know, definitely the transfer of the weight, trying to trying to feel like I want to hit like low shots really helps me get through the swing and through the motion. Are there other swing swing thoughts like when you’re on the range and you’re getting ready for a week like this at a live event? Are there certain feels that you want to try to get to when you’re practicing on the range? Basically what I just said, you know, trying to get to my left. Uh there’s different ways to feel it, you know, but uh but yeah, I mean, I’m I’m thinking something with my left knee. I mean, I don’t know if people can relate, but yeah, I just kind of feel like my left knee is more towards my right side, and that kind of helps my my chest be more under the left side. Yeah. I mean, whatever it takes, right, for your mind, right? Whatever it takes for me to kind of throw what I’m my idea to you and whoever gets it, you know, we’ll see. Right. Well, I’m curious, too, with your Caddy, when you’re under Sunday pressure and you guys are trying to win, uh, when the results are coming up, like what do you expect out of him as a caddy, like in those situations? Yeah, he’s been really good with that kind of pressure. He’s a guy that keeps his his emotions calm. He keeps his perspective real clear. You know, he’s trying to help me, you know, save as many shots as he can. And, you know, he’s someone that doesn’t really talk extra. He just says the the stuff that needs to be said and we just try to do it as best as we can. And now I just want to wrap up too, just as you get ready for tournaments, like has there been a oneliner from either a coach or a mentor or a former player that’s really kind of resonated with you on the right attitude to have towards practice and towards improving? Not at the moment. Not not at the moment. I feel like I have to put you on the spot. Sorry. Yeah. No, not not in the moment right now. Uh I feel like, you know, it’s just it’s just commitment. It’s just trusting what you’re doing. It’s just trying to exaggerate the motion you’re trying to do. is it’s it’s trying to feel a little uncomfortable in the uncomfortable feel that you’re trying to get through in the moment. So, whatever you can hold on and help you with that, we’ll take it. I’d be remiss if I didn’t finish asking about your team, the dynamics. Obviously, Wen, what kind of leader is he? I mean, you guys have seem to have a great chemistry there between you all. Yeah, I mean, it’s a I’m really happy with team toqu we all get along really well. Uh, our captain has been fantastic. He’s been playing great golf the last couple years. Um, and he’s really inspiring. He doesn’t really, he’s not a speech guy, but you’ll just see him in his attitude and his work ethic and his results, you know, that he’s fully committed and he’s trying to become a better golfer every day. And that’s something inspiring for the rest of the team. Hey, you guys won the last time you’re what, 15 miles away in this area. So, it’s got to be a good omen. Yeah, you’re right. Yeah, it’s been it’s been a while since we won last, but yeah, Washington, we we’ve won here before. We sprayed some champagne in this ground, so hope to do it again. Great stuff, Sebastian. Always appreciate the time. Good to see you. Yeah, fish.
