2025 Zach Johnson Invitational Final Results



WEST DES MOINES, Iowa – Runner-up Jake Skarperud led the North Dakota State men’s golf team to a fourth-place finish at the Zach Johnson Invitational at Glen Oaks Country Club on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Skarperud (71-69-69—209) led the Bison through all three rounds of the event, finishing in the runner-up slot at -4 overall, just one stroke off South Dakota’s Jack Holtz (68-70-70—208) who claimed the tournament title. With his second-place finish at the Zach Johnson Invitational, Skarperud ties Ian Simonich for the highest placing Bison at the tournament in program history.
 
Skarperud added three more birdies and 14 pars to finish the final round at -2. The senior led the team in holes at par, with 38 holes across the event, and was the lone Bison to have all three rounds of the event at or below par.
 
Rylin Petry (72-75-70—217) climbed 10 spots up the leaderboard in the final round of play. Petry picked up four birdies and 11 pars to mark his best round of the tournament at -1. Petry finished just outside the top 10 in a tie for 12th in the 58-golfer field.
 
Gabe Benson (72-76-71—219) and Carter White (76-76-71—223) both picked up even-par rounds on the final day. Benson carded five birdies in the final round to rise five spots overall and finish in a tie for 22nd at +6 overall. White added three birdies in the third round to jump 10 places and finish in a tie for 29th at +10 overall.
 
Max Wilson (83-73-72—228) shot his best round of the tournament at +1 on Tuesday. Wilson notched three birdies in the final round to climb eight spots and finish at +15 overall in a tie for 43rd.
 
Andrew Ballou (73-70-74—217) wrap up the participating Bison. Ballou, who was competing as an individual, marked his best finish as a Bison with a score of 217. The freshman shot 15 pars to finish at +3 in the final round, to end the tournament in a tie for 12th at +4 along with teammate Petry.
 
As a team, the Bison (291-293-281—865) shot their best round of the tournament, and the second-best round of the event. NDSU held their position of fourth, finishing four strokes behind Indian Hills (283-289-289—861). North Dakota (287-281-285—853) claimed the event title, winning over South Dakota (291-285-280—856) by three strokes.
 
The Men’s Golf team will wrap up their four-week run of events to begin the season next week against North Dakota. The teams will play a pair of events against each other, with North Dakota coming to the Fargo Country Club on October 1st and the Bison heading north to Grand Forks Country Club on October 2nd.
