Shay Knight is Viktor Hovland's caddie.

He’s a PGA Tour and Ryder Cup star, but who is Viktor Hovland’s caddie?

Viktor Hovland turned professional in 2019 after a standout amateur career and success at Oklahoma State. He quickly rose on the PGA Tour, winning seven titles by 2025, including the 2023 FedExCup. Who is Viktor Hovland’s caddie? Let’s find out.

Who is Viktor Hovland’s caddie?

Shay Knight is the long-time caddie for Viktor Hovland, having joined him when the Norwegian golfer turned professional. Born in Sydney, Australia, Knight has spent over 15 years as a full-time caddie on the PGA Tour. He did not play collegiate golf but built his career looping for a number of notable tour professionals, including Martin Laird, Matt Jones, Chez Reavie, Jerry Kelly, Sean O’Hair, and Aron Price.

The partnership with Hovland began through a connection with Joe Skovron, Rickie Fowler’s former caddie. After meeting Knight at the Mayakoba Golf Classic in 2018, Skovron suggested him as a good fit for Hovland, who was preparing to leave Oklahoma State and launch a professional career. Their first official event together was the 2019 Travelers Championship, where Hovland finished in a tie for 54th.

Since then, Knight has been a consistent presence on Hovland’s bag during his rise in professional golf. Together they have achieved multiple victories on the PGA Tour, including Hovland’s first win at the Puerto Rico Open in 2020. The partnership has seen continued success, with the pair collecting seven PGA Tour titles by 2025, in addition to strong performances in major championships and Ryder Cup appearances.

Away from tournament pressure, Knight has shared glimpses into his own personality and interests. His favorite childhood golfer was fellow Australian Brett Ogle, and he lists Pebble Beach among his favorite venues to caddie. He enjoys walking historic golf courses such as Cypress Point and has described crossing Hogan’s Bridge at Augusta National as a memorable career moment.
