Ladies and gents, welcome back to Club Double for the Inland Petroleum City of Do International 4S. We got round two underway. It’s the first bowl being played. We have the team from Curry Curry taking on team from Morilla. The Curry Curry team Osh Mancaster playing her second bowl right now. Cody Griffin, Aaron Applebe, and Nathan Wise. and they are taking on the Warilla combination. Luke Jones, Gary Kelly, Cory Wedlock, and Aaron Tease. So, we have three world champions in the one rink playing for. And you know you’re in a white hot rink when you have Gary Kelly playing second. and Gary widely recognized as one of the best bowlers in the world and he’s playing second. Cory Wedlock absolutely sparkling form. Well, they’ve actually swapped. Luke’s playing second, so not playing as per program. and Ly Jones, he was on fire for the Gorillas Broad Beach campaign, the big five side recently. He opens up this second game with a little bit short. Cody Griffin is his first ball. Gary might have actually dropped back to play the lead. Luke Jones looking for a bit of a correction on his first bowl. Big thank you to the sponsors for this event. We have Inland Petroleum, BCIB Insurance, MRH Disability Services, Western Plains Automotive, Luca Group Accountants and Advisers, Battery World Double, Bender Kitchens Aristocrat, and K United Breweries. So Cory Redlock playing third. Fair effort from Cory Wedlock. Aaron Applebe his first ball. And well, he’s just going to slide through the little hole. And you see Aaron T with the the finger pointing down. He wants that ball to get back more quickly than it will. Just gonna not quite get to where they wanted it. Pretty fair start to this competition for our defending champions in our last live stream game. You can check all the results via bowls link. Just watching on as Nathan Wise comes underneath the head’s also pretty pretty good win in their first game. played a team from Western area skipped by combination of a Canandra and Orange City. They had a 24 shots to three victory. Wise he slides through again whereas Nathan Wise started with a loss and he’s uh gone down by four shots to the the youngans with the olden leading up for them. That’s the junior team skipped by Timothorning with Zoe Davies, Cooper Flea, Michael Wils leading up. They had a fif 1511 victory. Was good start for Guerilla team. They’ve won the first end. So there’s Gary playing lead. First bowl, decent start, Gary. Very good singles player. You’d expect any of the players in this world team to shine at the lead position. Just a little under the line with that. Gary Kelly with the bright green balls. Decent start. So has represented New South Wales at over 40’s level sits that bowl gets shot. Well, Bald Mancaster, Luky Jones, Australian under sorry, a New South Wales under 18 representative. He’s had a game for under 25s as well. move down to Orilla on a permanent basis last year, formerly of the uh the Northern Rivers area. Sarant began his career as a junior bowler at Evans Head in Bella. It’s a very good effort from Cody Griffin. Close to shot there. Hard to tell on our angle, but uh live view definitely is the shot. Luke’s just slightly under the line. Cody Griffin probably wants uh 30 cmters or so on his previous effort just to get in behind. We’ll have to match the two green ones at the back. Orange there only caster holding the second one. and Cy Wedlock just going to turn underneath the head of course has won the champion of club champion singles a few years ago now he’s Poor old fella’s fallen short this time. Cory bit more in attacking mode here. There’s a big hole though. Straight through. Apples. He’s got another one in there. Just open the hole a little bit. Guarantees will be able to see that jack a bit easier. Couple of bowls. Jack high there. I think he’ll come down on the forehand, try and draw. Maybe tempted to just arrive. There is a hole to get the though. He trails the jackets’s good, but doesn’t want the hole. So, can sit the orange bowl on the side. Looking for the draw down to those bowls. Got the sit and push to us through now. Just the one down. Good ball from Teasy. Secures second shot. Nathan Wise. Well, he’s left that one a little bit on the shy side. So, easy one down. You see just indicate that bowl. He may be tempted just to arrive to the the Cody Griffin bowl. Just try and get a roll or two out of it. There is a straighten down to the jack off it. Back himself to to play that little arrival shot rather than just a dead draw. Certainly very good at those stun and run shots. Has got a fairly tight line. It should swing back. Can get a little luck here as well. Just going to pump that one through. So why holding shot was to tease first end. Nathan Wise, he can even this up with a decent bowl here. Once around that one, it’s going to be pretty close to this. Yep, he’s played one. That’s now two shots a piece. We’ll go into the third end. W Mancaster opens us up for the third end. Jackal being on the tea. Was a little bit tight on the line for this one. Gary Kelly unique delivery has served him very very well. That was first bar a bit tight. She wants a little bit more width on that. Reminder, you uh can get live scores from this competition if you go to results.bballslink.com.au or use the bowls now app. Just on the front page, search for Westo under club groups. You click on the West do bowling club. You will need to click manage competitions and then choose the inland petroleum fours. Once you’ve got to there, you’ll have a few selections in the menu. Click on the live button and you’ll get all the current scores from the live matches. Cody Griffin He’s playing his ball. Luke Jones on the mat now. He’s got a wide line. It’ll just hold on that line out there. There’s two different different flags just fluttering slightly differently. So I think there’s a little bit of uh little bit of shelter from the clubhouse and the surrounds. Another meter away. Just a slightly tighter line. That looks to be a much better line. Just going to run into his own bowl. Aaron Applebe Cory Wedlock. It’s just a slightly tighter line than Luke Jones had with his second bowl. So I reckon it’s going to be pretty close. just needs it to keep running. Little bit frustrated that he hasn’t quite got the speed on that one. Apples looks like he’s tighten this up a little. Wants to get around Cory Wedlock’s bowl. Just going to get the edge and run past. Did have a little bit of weight on that one. Cory that is even tighter than his previous bowl. You can see he’s got the finger pointing and he’s just willing that to stop. Can get a little bit of contact. Well, that’ll be good enough. That’s one shot to Wedlock. And uh thanks to Caleb from Go Live Australia giving me a little bit of advice. Told me to click a few buttons. We got our replays working again. Amazing. I tried it myself that method and didn’t work. When Caleb told me to do it, did always good to have someone like go live on deck for little bit of technical troubleshooting at times. Oh, Apples has forgotten not to stand on the center line. Okay, he’s getting forgetful in his old age. just dumps into Cory Wedlock’s bowl. It’s disappeared in behind Aaron Applebe. So I don’t know if it brought it into count then little bit scattered for what we’d expect for them these players. They have gone long. Nathan Wise, he’s gone through. So last bowl for Aaron tease this in already holding. He just wants to add to this count. Still a little bit of hesitation in what shot to play there. Ty, he’s on a tight line. I’m not sure he meant to be quite that line. He’s going to miss the lot. Two. Tease goes out to a four shots to two lead. Three ends completed. Not going to go for the mat. Back to the tea this time. Jack will be very close to the tea. Kelly, he’ll play the slightly wider side. It’s just a slight breeze blowing from that side. It probably got a little bit less than it was this morning. Still will be just a fraction wider on that hand. Maybe the players think it’s just a little more reliable that it will turn with the wind rather than be held up against and shall follow down on that same side of the green and going to sit on the inside of Gary’s bowl. So has shot after the opening two. Gary just wants to lose about a meter of weight. Not going to Can finish in behind holding one. Looking to consolidate her team’s position. And G2 has added a little bit of weight and will sneak in for the best backwood at this stage. Nothing in the way at all for Luke Jones. Got his choice of hand and he’s going to choose that forehand side. Slightly wider hand away from the ditch side. And well, close for shot, but uh short. Plenty of room for on the end of the pack there. One shot for Luke Jones. Teasy just pops the finger up as that one goes past Cody Griffin wants to split those two. Luke Jones Biles. A little bit of applause there from Aaron Tease as he goes around trails the jack. That’ll be two now. Cody’s drawn that one back to first bowl. Big bang there from Cory Wedlock. Gets rid of a heap of the balls in the head. Still one, two. Well, he might have actually got shot out of that. Do you think that’s actually two down? Well, little bit of a whack. Nothing left on the green. The way things keep going here, it’s just three bowls remaining on the cut surface with this one coming. Well, it’s not going to even remain on the cut surface. So, Just two bowls remain on the green. I think it’s one to Cody Griffin. Guarantees on the draw. He’s got plenty on this, too. So, Nathan Wise, he’s got a probably the easiest draw shot he’d be faced with this game. Plenty of room to draw a shot. Just needs to get past that. Gets the edge. So, good enough. guarantees one’s going to go through the ditch too. So huge opportunity here for Nathan Wise to draw a third shot. Doesn’t need to be a great bowl. And well, it might actually have been a count of four. Front one wasn’t Lukis at all. It might have been all four on the green remaining were Curry’s bowls. A bit of a That was actually a count of three. So 54. Can see the scoreboard in the background. Cody Griffin and Luke Jones’s bowls look very similar. Just got fooled by that. So at the end of variant one, we obviously have 21 winning teams. At the end of round one, our top eight ranked based on their first round result. Number one, Ben Twist with a plus 27. Number two, Guarantees the plus 21. Number three, Rick Olay in double city plus 16 and better because of having conceded less shots. a better percentage ahead of Matt Flapper who’s also plus 16 and Nathan Rice who’s also plus 16. Uh next up is John Shriber from Mcquaryy with a plus 12. Then Ray Pierce also plus 12 and Carl Healey plus N. Uh, Pet Orum of Corringles plus nine. Jacob Aken plus eight. Greg Willoughby of Mcquaryy plus seven. Cooper Dart plus five. Rocky Stone plus five. Timmy Thorny plus four. Uh, David Doors from Tully Rupner in Victoria. What a great club name. The plus four. Craig Jeffrey of Westo plus one. Lee Raina plus one. ended up beating Greg Helm after trailing early. Uh Eric Jannas of Coral plus one, Sean Ingham plus one, Grant Godmanson plus one, and then we’ve got a couple at a draw is Indie Conland and Josh Barry. So the other half of the draw is our defeated teams. Luke Jones now on the draw. That will be look coming the back. Gary Kelly’s bowl is the green. Do think that might be Luke’s bowl. It’s Jack Hyde. rather than Cody struggling to tell those two apart. They’re both white and a a greenish type color. Aaron Applebee though is going to pull up in time to be shot. Nathan Wise signals one. assume that is Luke Jones’s ball. Cory Wedlock back hand draw. Apples just looking to repeat his last ball. Needs to miss the orange one and keep running. I’m just going to pull up a little bit short. And Cory, his last bowl just out of the count. Not looking to draw this time. Up the middle. Couple of chances here. didn’t really change head. Might have made his own bowl a little closer. But Nathan Wise will do the finger guess to measure. most important part of this competition is just to keep winning each game. Get yourself into that top eight playoff. That’s where the big chunk of the $150,000 total prize money lies. The winner of the major final on Thursday, the team will take home cool $60,000. guarantees he was looking for the shot bowl. Ty standing on the mat for me. Wise he’s just run into the short Gary Kelly bowl. still playing that arriving shot. Wants the gap to get through to get the shot ball. Gary Kelly likes the look of it, but he’s going to crunch onto Well, that’s one way to do it. He’s punched it in for shot. Don’t think he quite saw it that way, but that gives us an all square result. Aaron Tease was looking for the shot bowl. You see he’s played the run. He wanted the gap for the shot bowl and he’s got hold of Gary Kelly’s bowl. Got the other one and flicked it in for shot. No celebration. and just oh well you’ve got it out of that so I’ll take the result makes it five five after five Gary’s opening ball just in behind. Plenty of room really from us, but Gary’s good solid opening for a lead. Will just drop a bit short. So still I’d say it’s one to Gary at this moment. his hands up means he wants it to slow, but it’s come in pretty nicely there. Consistent with his first effort. She just needs bit more speed and she’s got that very nicely. Yep, that’ll do for shot. Luki Jones and he will just follow down the leads forehand slide. Let’s try and get down to that jack. Little touch is okay, but really trying to draw. Don’t really want to trail it across to the right of screen. It goes more towards us that way. Would hope to pull up just inside but going to run past. Still one to curry. Cody Griffin now really wants a nice wider line used. Would love to finish in between the jack and the two light green bowls of Gary Kelly. Line nearly perfect for that. But uh yeah, has not sent the ball. And chance for Lugie Jones. He just drop a meter here. He’ll be pretty much right on the jack. Ty the hands out. Little bit of a yes. Gives him the acknowledgement. Cody needs to just pump this one a little more. Done it fairly well. That’ll come in for second shot. Another one in the head for Kari. Good result. Cory Wedlock. Cory little mixed start to his location for the start of his bowling career. Did start off in the eastern suburbs before moving up to the north coast. started playing being recognized more once he was at Yuranga course his um he established his stint Cabra matter and then moved to one to Luke before this one comes in anyway. Got the sit and stay one to Aaron Applebee. Don’t know if he’s turned that one enough to bring the the second bowl out there. That’s Cody Griffin’s bowl. The green and white out to the right of Jack, just past Jack High. We have two green and white bowls. The darker green and white is Luke Joneses. Those two are sitting near the bright green Gary Kelly bowls. Guarantees I think they just try and do something very similar to what Aaron Applebe just achieved. So just on the draw down to that bowl and just going to flop on the outside. Uh, still Curry holding Nathan Wise his first opportunity on this sixth end. Think this one’s just going to run out of steam. It might be nearly good enough though. Cory Wlock having a bit of a look at a talk. He just slightly over the draw. Yeah, little indication of a meter or so weight. He’s playing the attacking. He’d love to get Nathan Wise right in the middle. Not going to Nathan Wise chance to regain the lead. Holding at least one here. I’m not sure about more. Last bowl of this sixth end and is holding shot. Looks like he’s playing the safe line. Wants to get around. Cody obviously didn’t take the memo about not standing on its apples. And well, I think it’s still one, two, Curry. Curry has picked up the mat. So yeah, one to carry 65. Oh, one to carry carry. Don’t want to overlap. Stretch the length out a little too as Curry Curry. But uh has just not quite given that the oomph that was required. Pretty well short. He willing that to go either side of Bush’s bowl and it just hangs out and around. Uh is one shot to the Irish international Gary Kelly. Northern Ireland push good 2 meters or so needed on her previous bowl. She certainly got more on this one and gets the shot. Well bold. You see Ty’s reaction. The arms out pointing. Wants it to hold on. It might hold on just enough. Oh yeah. Gives it a little clap. Indications it probably got shot. So Cody Griffin also following those ones down. Backhand draw wants to miss Osh’s bowl. He is going to miss it and go around and that one might just run out but get some applause from his skipper. Luke Jones now on the mat. Look. Luke just in behind Cody Griffin. Back hand draw similar again. Luke Jones lining up with a bit of power on this one. Wants to get a little bit of a clip but finds the hole and runs through. Have a we playing the other side of the green. Taran will be looking to add to this count. backhand run. That does swing a little more on that hand. Not sure he’s got the speed though. Cory wedlock to get the outside of that ball. Well, he’s it’s one or two to curry curry at this stage, I’d say. We got a few Nathan Wise not on too bad of a a roll. He’s got the jack beautifully there. One indicated by Aaron Applebeby guarantees a little bit of aggression behind this one. Gets the front bowl through. Nathan Wise. backhand draw was spot on with his previous effort. Not able to repeat it though. So if he’s had a look I think he might do it again looking for the shot bowl. And that certainly looks like the indication from Cory. Try and punch that through. Maybe trying to get both bowls of curries. Plenty on this. Well, Jack, if it goes out is okay. High fives all around. I’ll be couple choosing to put the mat back at the tea again. But uh it’s not going long. We’re going short at the tea. Big change in length. Curry was looking to go T-to and Ted just about minimum the choice for Worilla. We could roll it a bit shorter but uh yeah closer to minimum than maximum. Good start for us Manchester though that one just shy of the jack. It’s there is room to draw it but very good starter. Gary Kelly on a good path. He turns it up. Yeah. Well, it’s made it a lot easier to see. There is still a path down there now as well. Similar one again. I think that’s the best option to be able to draw in. Really would love to get this around the jack and behind. She’s going to Well, not too bad at all. Got in and got a toucher. So Luke Jones can play just a slightly positive draw here. Slightly narrow line. You can fit the orange balls and stay for shot or just tuck that jack around the corner to Gary Kelly. But uh don’t want to be too fast or too wide. And I think he’s got a bit of both on that. So little line actually not too bad, but good distance through. probably want to see much closer to Gary Kelly. It’s probably two and a half meters pass from Luke. Cody Griffin also passed. He’ll match. Oh, he’s gone past that at the back. So, he’s got the best back quite a few meters past the the jack. So, Luke just wants to ease back on the weight a little bit. really just drag that jack a meter or so or sit the orange bowl and done it. Not too bad. Going to play backhand draw now for Cody. Wants to get down to Gary Kelly’s bowl on that side. Do you think that’s holding just a bit there may not come back quickly enough. Just that hint of breeze pushing the balls out on that hand has picked up again a fraction that breeze Cory Wedlock. He’s on a good line. wants to get Luke Jones up and over. Or well, don’t think that’s got the result they wanted. And there you can see Nathan Weise saying, “Use that bowl coming off it.” And Applebee’s got all up and over. Very good. Might see a little bit of aggression here from Cory. Just a few chances for a good result here. Got the jack. It’s gone right to the back. Cory’s come to the tea. and out of bounds. So, we will go back to the TE. It’s given Cory good position. We’re going back to T now with that movement. Cody Griffin’s bowl is the closest Curry bowl. Aaron Applebee’s just about to pass it now. It’s got the slide on it and well I don’t think he’s quite got there for shot. So, one to Gary Kelly. Skippers the draw. Big game for both of these teams. This could well be the deciding factor of which one of the two gets through to the top eight. The end of the sectional play keep that unbeaten record intact as long as possible. I think teasy might have gone well. Cory Wedlock says it’s two. You saw the indication there. So angle on the camera is deceptive on that. The bowls do look a different distance. And why is he going to grab the jack? So he has got shot. Might see a little bit of aggression here again. wants the jack. Hasn’t got it. So, chance for Nathan Wise to draw a second. And well, nowhere near it for Wisey. Well and truly out of that count. So, one more to Nathan Wise. I do think I’ve got that score around the wrong way. So it should be seven shots a piece after eight ends. Didn’t miss the two last end for guarantees. I fixed that for you. Apologies for that. I was waiting for the official score to be updated. Be sure it was two previous end. Manchester or Roller Jack. I would expect they may try to go for TT again. This Jack is not going to stay on board. Gary Kelly roll to minimum distance. Seven all eight ends. So we’re past the halfway mark. A reminder of the conditions of play for this event. It’s 15 ends per match. We’re playing three matches today. There is a respot at the T in place. So if the jack is set in motion by the effects of play and goes out of bounds on the rink, including going over the face of the bank or rebounds to a distance of less than 18 m from the mat line. The end is not dead, but the jack is respotted at the tea and play continues. Bush just sails past. Good starter from Gary Kelly. Thanks to our major events sponsors for club do inland Petroleum, BCID Insurance Brokers, MRH Disability Services and Western Plains Automotive along with Luca Group Accountants and Advisers Battery World DO Bender Kitchens Aristocrat and Colton United Breweries. Great bowl from Cody Griffin. Still, I think it’s one shot to Gary Kelly. Thank you. Pretty fair effort that one. A little bit of an attacking option here for Aaron Applebe. Luke Jones bowl in there next to Gary Kelly’s. It’s the blue two color. A lot more obvious on our zoomed in side view. Cody Griffin’s green and white balls just passed on that view. Cory Wedlock looking for some protection. Wants to get bowl at the back of the head and that’s the tea covered. Aren will be already on the mat playing. Wants to reach that jack shorter length though. It’s going to hold on with the little bit of weight he’s used and run past. We’ll cover looking here for wants one out. If that jack springs out to those two bowls again, it’s pretty good home. That’s covering a a spring. Nathan Wise is known for attacking. So, Nathan Wise will be up to the head here. Guarantee he’s looking to get another one in there. Nathan Wise, his last bowl of the head has been disturbed. Still one to Merilla and why oh wise he’s got that through and I think that may have made the difference. Went big but didn’t get it on track. Looks like they need a tape on that. It’s Kai Griffin’s bowl being measured first against Leak Jones. Well, it’s Curry Curry scoring anyway. I think that was just the one indicated by Cory Wedlock. And hasn’t lost his jack. Can’t see the scoreboard to confirm what that was. Wor’s opening bowl. Jack high. It was one to Nathan Wise. So 87 after nine ends and Gary might have just snuck in for shot there. Guarantees give that a little clap and not just the singular clap of death. Do have a theory that if the skipper of the team claps just once, it’s not praise. It’s an indication they’re not happy with that bowl. And that one won’t get the single clap because that is shot. Very well played by Manchester. Gary Kelly, he’s going to stick with it. Same hand, just trying to draw around that last pile of bush. Drop in to count. He’s got plenty on this and he’ll end up Well, he’ll cover the scoreboard, not the green. That one’s off. Cody Griffin chance to just shore up an advantage for his team here. He’s also going to play that forehand side looking to drop through the gap between us’s bowls. He’s played this pretty well. Going to get a little edge on us and run over to cover Gary’s bowls. Two to curry at the moment. That will encourage Luke Jones to play that backhand side. He’s got uh a couple there to use as brakes if he needs to, but there’s a nice little path in on that backhand side on the ditch side of the green. Just a gentle breeze blowing over Luke’s right shoulder. So, it is as we look at it from uh left to right on the screen. Should have just held that bowl up a little bit. Left to right. No. Yeah. Always get confused when the screen is different from the live view. Chance for Cody Griffin wants to put another one similar down. He’s done it not too badly. Uh it’ll run in close to another counter. So, it’s still that backhand shot for Luke. Just a nice positive draw. A fraction more grass is all he needs. That looks to be fairly close to the line to me. Come down to his weight. Doesn’t seem to be turning as much as you would have hoped. That’s because it’s just got a fraction of weight on it. and happy. He’s got a much tighter line than Luke Jones did. And that’s once it starts to let go, they just keep going. It just depends on whether you get the wind on the flat part of the bowl or not. Think sometimes when you go that bit wider, the wind tends to grab hold of the flat part of your bowl and just hold you out. Whereas when you turn, you don’t have that same wind resistance. So they will keep turning. That’s my theory. I’m happy to be proved wrong. Cory, he’s also just going to sail through. So if you got that a little bit of weight on a tight line’s okay, but uh yeah, Aaron Applebe bowls away on that backhand side. He’s got a fraction more grass than previously. Also got a little bit of speed. If he gets to Gary Kelly’s bowl, it’s okay, but he’s just going to hit the gap and go. Well, he’s gone for a swim. He’s onto the sand now. Cory. Well, he either needs less weight or a just slightly tighter line. Made the very good correction. Little touch and slid through. And you see teasy just go what? That one so good. But third shot. We can watch that one again. He’s tease there. He’s willing that one in. He’s saying you’re on a good line. You’re on a good length. Gets the little knock on the jack, but just slides past that back bowl. So, he’s at worst third shot. Nathan Wise saunters to the mat. Wise is going to play the other side of the green. Both his bowls on the draw in that hand. And also if he just slides past Cody Griffin’s bowl at front, he could possibly get down to Cory Wedlock. And that’s probably the idea. He’s got nice cover over the rink number now though. Easy. I think he’ll be just trying to play well, not exactly the same as Cory Wedlock, but very fractionally different. He wants the jack right in the middle or to sit the green. Yep. Well, he sat that one back and got shot. Very well played. Nathan Wise now one down. Beauty for him is his last bowl covered the rink number. Uh, who gets the spot? Very good question because if you kill that, you’re going to hit the bowl that Aaron T’s just put down as well. We have something very unusual just near me at the moment. Anthony Brown’s actually sitting down just watching the bowls. Just seen him running from place to place for the last day and a half trying to get everything perfectly organized. Nathan Wise is going to try and go whack. He’s got Gary Kelly’s bowl. So, it’s still one to Aaron Te’s. Still trying to convince Anthony to pick up that headset and put it on. He’s just going to wave his head and go nut. going to ask him how it was to be a a New South Wales blue. A pretty happy experience. I think that one is playing for the New South Wales side and that has convinced him he’s going to pop the head headset on soon as he gets the sticky bit off it. Now we’ll turn his volume up. Anthony, everything’s going swimmingly so far. It is. Yeah. Weather’s beautiful. A little bit blowy, but better than last year. It was a bit overcast last year and windy, but no, so far so good. There is a little bit of a breeze blowing, but nothing too outrageous. And Anthony, you had the uh absolute pleasure of being a member of the Kino New South Wales Blues Parrot side that uh had a series victory over the Queenslanders recently. Yeah, mate. Yeah, that was one of the you know highlights of the long career last week. Uh two weeks ago actually. Yeah. No, it was a great group. Uh Wes the coach. He’s a great coach. Got us jelling. Yeah, that was Yeah. Unbelievable. and against Queensland too which made it even better. Queensland’s regarded as the benchmark for the parabols at the moment. They seem to be coming up with the victories. Yeah, they had three uh jackaroos in there in that side. Damian, Tony Bol, and Brett Cers are all in the merid in the jackaroo squad. So, and uh unfortunately not in the the whittle downside to contest the nationals. The Yeah, it would have been a hard choice for Wes, but our our guys will do a great job, Aaron and Jimmy and with Michael for cuz you do have to have a a B5 or B4 in the side. Yep. Which makes it hard. You know, there’s about five of us there trying to v V for one spot. Timmy probably the automatic selection world champion. But yeah, no, although disappointed not being selected, but fully graded to be in that top five at the moment. So yeah, pretty good. And uh even got on the live stream during that one and played some pretty good bowls. Yeah, I haven’t watched a replay of them yet, but yeah, I was I was nice to you, Anthony. I did hear that a couple fellow bowlers. I bit Andrew looked after you a bit and but no all good. So big thanks to your sponsors here too. Inland Petroleum of course the naming right sponsor. Yeah definitely. Yeah they’re huge sponsors of the club and that yeah on track there. Let’s bring up the the names on the screen. Plus BCIB MIH. They’re here. Western Plains Auto Drive and of course the Lur Group, Battery World Double, Bend the Kitchens, Aristocrat, and CUV. Yeah, without the sponsors, you know, we couldn’t get the prize money for this tournament. So, yeah, we do thank them. And uh 150 grand up for grabs. Yep. And 60,000 first. Not exactly pocket change. No, not for me anyway. Question is, will Lee Rainer make another final? Well, they just got over the line the first round this morning, I think, by one shot. That’s all you have to do though, isn’t it? With the luck with the draw, how it come out the end of this, you know, like it’s in three sections there. Just the way the BLink draw is, yeah, it’s pretty well open. First hurdle is getting in the top eight and That’s the next step. Well, Aaron T is currently ranked number two, but in an absolute cracking battle here with Nathan Wise. And uh I’m sure Teasy had swapped being ranked number two this point for being ranked in the top eight after six rounds. Also, there’s a bonus for the top ranked team after six rounds of $4,000. So, $1,000 each. That’s a little bit of a bonus for him to go for the top spot. I’m sure that’s something they’d think about in the last round more than anything. Y, it’s a an incentive, too. Just a a double incentive really to make sure you take every opportunity in every game. Yeah, I think the last round there’ll be a lot of BS on the app looking at other scores, see where what’s happening on the other rinks, which is a good thing with this live bowl score app, Andrew. Yep. So to check other scores on the rinks. So if you want to see the live scores, you jump on the bowls link either the app, the bowls now app or results.bballs.com.au. Uh where it comes up in the search bar, type in Westo, look under club groups. or clubs and you’ll see Westbo bowling club. Select them and if you’re going through the B link uh results portal, you need to click on the manage competitions and then you’ll see inland petroleum. You got all sorts of options. You can click on live to see current round live scores. You can tap the ladder to see how they’re ranked at the moment. And of course, there’s a nice little uh line under the top eight. I dare say we might see some changes in the makeup of that top eight several times during this competition. Certainly will, Andrew. Yeah, you can look through every round of matches. And Anthony, there’s a quite a a team working behind the scenes here. And once again, the the army of volunteers you have here at Club Davo are out in force. Yeah, mate. It’s just overwhelming. You know, everyone’s putting their hand up. I don’t really have to ask them to come and help. They just said, “Oh, do you need any help for this week?” I said, “Certainly.” And they’re a happy bunch. Yeah. All started a few here at 6 6:00 this morning getting the barbecue ready for the bacon rolls. Then we had a couple guys picking up a few of the guys motel and B&Bs from 7:00. And there’s a few coming now to help clean up, general clean up through the day. So, and it was just a little bit brisk this morning as well. The uh the feels like temperature may have been just below zero. Yeah, they reckon it’s going to be cooler this tomorrow morning any chance of frost tomorrow, but uh by about 7 when I was running out our cameras this morning, uh the breeze had a little bit of coolness on it, but was quite pleasant. So, lots of lots of uh just shirt sleeves out there at the moment. In fact, I don’t think I can see any jackets on at all now. No, not now. There was a few earlier. I think if you got out of the breeze, it was nice, but that breeze is just got a little edge on it. Edge on it. Yes. Aaron Applebe wants to get around that bowl and he’s just going to drop short. Uh that’s the greener bowl at the front. Cody Griffins. The orange one’s Ushman Casters. And the bowl in behind is Luke Jones. I’m not really sure who’s got shot there. That’s difficult to tell. I might be able to get our number four camera onto that head to give us a bit more of an idea. lot might have raw core in did sitting in the jack eye. Good to see a few new clubs attend our event this year. Andrew um Curry Curry, it’s the first time they’ve come out. Nathan has a big dash at that. And well, he may well have got shot out of that. See that jack just kicked a little bit and well, it’s actually two So the orange and the which is user and the green and white may count. The straight blue bowl is Aaron Hleby. So don’t think there’s a real attacking opportunity here for Aaron Te’s he’s got that delivery on the way. Just needs to crash into those and flop. Just like that. And not going to stay. So might have got rid of one of them. Might not to. That’s a very good battle here. But on paper, I’ I’d pick the team to win this game. But uh you don’t play the game on paper and we do know Wancaster has represented New South Wales at over 40’s level. Cody Griffin was one of our top juniors just a few years ago. Aaron Applebe has won a state champion of club champion singles and uh did very well a few years ago. Apples and Nathan Dawson. Uh Andrew Reese was involved in one of those champ few of those championships. Uh Jake, uh I’m forgetting the names, but anyway, they did very well in the state champs a few years ago. And Apple’s one of those charact laidback characters. Can be an absolute pest. Not in a nice way. Doesn’t mind refreshment either. And of course, Nathan Wise has also been at the top end of competition quite a bit. I just picked up two there, Nathan. And uh Wy actually held a a record you probably don’t want to hold in one way, but you would be saying, well, that’s a pretty good record in in another as being one of the most uh having the most appearances in a state number one pennent final without actually winning one. Got about five runners up titles. Wow. It was part of Bell Rose’s run where they they were runner up in three years in a row. I’m not sure why he was in all three. Um played at Grand View was no runner up and then also when St. John’s Park was runner up. So, it’s a sort of a double-edged sword that one. You You’ve been in sides that have done really well, but uh you just haven’t got the biggies when it counted. So, who is watching? Michael Harvey, probably a name most people wouldn’t know. He’s also in that he was part of Belrose’s run of lots of runners up and also Grand Views. Anthony looking forward to uh June July next year. Certainly in the state champions back out in do Yeah. We’ve started proceedings already to get get ready for it. So, bit different to the last time we held it was in March when the end of the summer and this time it’s in the middle of the winter. So, it’s a 360 of um different climate. And of course, if you’re on your way out here, check out the deals at the Akuna motor in and apartments about 200 meters down the road. the Auna just on the other side of uh Willandra Street, the new highway or the All Seasons Motor Lodge. Two doors down. Two doors. Yes. Owned and operated by Clubo. You can find all those details. Well, you can find them through the Club Dubo website, clubdo.com.au. Just pop on the accommodation options there, or you can Google either one of the two. Motel’s I can vouch for the Akuna. Showers are wonderful. Rooms are nice and spacious and clean. Manager Ross gives me a smile. Says hello. Yeah, Ross and Mark, two managers of the both motel. Yeah, great people. They’ll sure look after you. And uh if you’re a sports fan, the foxtail on the telly at the Akuna is a real bonus. Caught up on some of the cricket. Saw a little replay of the the ladies getting 400 against India. Well, Nathan Wise leading by two with four ends to go. Boys, they’d be really keen to win this end. Don’t want to let Curry get too far away. So, always think it’s a bit of a funny situation when you’re saying they have to win this end. You know, self-evident. You want to win every end. Not really important for them to try and just get back to even terms in the next end or two. Great shot by Apples. Ducking across the head there a bit, but still stay for shot. Yeah, consistently seen people just a bit tight on the hand that Cory’s playing now. Just a bit wide on the other. either seem to go wide or very narrow. They overcompensate. So Cory’s just run through. Aaron’s still shot. Dy’s a bit perplexed. Just scratching the back of the head. Just checking to see who’s got second. I think he’s going to get him to try and draw it for a trail here. Oh, he’s going to go the other side of the green. Oh, wants to get underneath and take that apples bowl clean. Oh, and he’s got the edge of it. Close, but no cigar. So, obviously Darren just in front of that bowl. You can see I’ve highlighted one bowl there. That’s Cory Wedlock. So, the US Moncaster bowls there and there. That one’s Cody Griffin. Nathan Wise looking for a backhand draw. Is it going to run through though? Yep. Just too much speed. Just carried on. These greens look an absolute treat. It’s a real credit to Darren Connley, the green keeper, and his trusty team. Blake Black Cook. Yeah, they put in a lot of hours the last two or three weeks trying to get him ready for this whilst in between club championships and Midwest events. Dy’s pretty close. I think he’s just gone the other side. That’s Cody Griffin’s bowls gone. Gets the cap off from Cory in the rub of the head to say, “What do we got to do?” You know, we had what 5:00 this morning, Andrew, I believe, had the lights on, mines, and very chilly at that time. I’d imagine it was. He’s actually playing, too. So, he’s he’s only doing a 12-hour shift. Oh, wy. He’s not going to get another shot. Is he going to get in the road? No, he’s going to code too far for that as well. Guarantees. Well, you’d almost back that he’s going to try and play the same shot. going to be looking for that shot pile. Is he going to play the same inside air? He’s just going to go quicker forehand. He’s going to hold. No, he’s not given that the right combinations and that’s not going to change it. Another one to curry curry. Cody doing the measuring or the head declaration. Just having a a close look. And I cannot believe players of this level don’t carry a measure. Maybe I’m a bit of a nerd, but when I play third, I’ve got a measure. I’ve got a couple of chalks and a chalk in my pocket. Might be hope hopeful wishful thinking when I carry the chalk home with people I do. Occasionally, they do surprise me and put down a whole heap of touches in the one game. It’s either confidence or wishful thinking. One of the two. They’re measuring Cory’s bowl against users. I think Cory’s bowl won that. And yep, one shot to Curry. So, they’ve gone out to a three-shot lead with three ends to go. Yeah, it is a bit unfort. But yeah, it’s very Yeah. disturbing. But anyway, they forget about the measure. Oh, I haven’t played third before. Few excuses, but yeah. I’ll push one caster. How important is a very good starter here for Curry Curry? They really want to just put the pressure on the Willer team now. Just a bit short. You’d expect someone like Gary Kelly’s caliber to be able to get inside that. But well, Curry’s got the better of the scoreboard by three with three to go. Be confident to be able to hold on to that. especially especially where the woman’s playing and she’s playing beautiful playing lead balls. Hush and her partner were the state champion club state champion of club champion pairs winners a couple of years ago. would effort. It’s a practitioner. Apologies to both of the ladies who I’ve mentioned for not knowing which one’s which. Gary Kelly, a little bit more attacking on this. Is there a little bit of desperation creeping in here for Will? He’s got the edge of that jack, kicked it out into the open. So, just grab hold of that camera and move it back while Cody delivers his bowl. Make it very interesting out there, Andrew. Right at nearly the bounty peg. Well, it’ be very hard to play the uh the forehand side. Not impossible. you’ll be able to draw it. But once someone gets something very close, it’ be hard to beat it on the forehand anyway. And Cody’s not going to trouble the scorers with that one. Just hasn’t quite uh played with enough confidence. Could be a real nuisance on that side for those trying to draw though. And Luke is going to take it on. He’s going to take the forehand side on. Oh, that cannot be wide enough. You would think it might be good enough for shot though. Just going to run away a little bit in that last bit, but well, at the moment, it’s the bowl to beat. And sometimes it’s not the brilliant ends that win you the game. It’s the scrappy ends where you manage to pick up a count of two or three on a what is a scattered end and that bowl looks like it hasn’t even come into balance. So sometimes you do find that there’s a a little bit of a variation up near the ditch because the wind does swirl around and you might have the the odd wear patch from where players have stepped on and off the green a few times in that area. And Luke Jones, this one’s holding on really nicely. How about this? gets the big salute from Aaron Te’s Aaron Applebe. Have you been watching what Luke Jones did? Cuz you need to beat it. It’s on a similar line, but I think there’s a bit of pace on this. It’ll stop, but as the albatross says, the sand stops him every time. Cory Wedlock, he’s following Luke Jones down. This looks like it’s on a similar line, but pace again. And all right, no. Out of bounds being picked up. He’s a bit tricky to play that hand. apples as he got it right. Well, that’s a wonderful bowl. Cory Wedlock, he’s going to follow Apples down. I wonder if they’re just going to try and load this head up and then give Teasy a chance with his last bowl. Maybe just try and dislodge that bowl. And what he’s bit short. So we saw a couple of really good bowls in a row. The first one, Luke Jones. How good is this one? That one got the big you beauty from Aaron Te’s closely followed by Aaron Applebe coming down on the other side of the green and dropping in beside it. Two crackers there on this hand end. Nathan Wise, well, he’s playing the forehand side. Te is playing that backhand side. I’d say be he’d be playing with a confident draw. Just wanting to get a little piece of Aaron Applebe. He’s got a little piece of the short bowl and out of bounds. That jack must be right out near the boundary peg. Why is his bowls already on its way? Who owns the tea might be a really good question. Fair references has got no option but to draw unless he thinks he can get rid of all three of those bowls, but no. Don’t think the tea is worth anything much there either. Just wants to draw down and get off the inside of Nathan Weis’s last pile and just going to be fraction wide with that pace. But it is one toilla. So they’re still two behind, two to play. Right, everyone’s going to duck off the bed, but the couple of rings have already finished now, so they’re starting to come in for lunch. Bit of work to do. Better work. Make sure the chef’s ready to serve them. All right. Great lunch for him. Well, thanks for joining us, Anthony. I hope to see you hear from you again through the the tournament, but uh I know you’re going to be busy. Definitely will. I’ll be back. Cheers, mate. See if we’ll get our chairman on this afternoon, Tony. All right. All right. Thanks, Andrew. So, good to hear from you, Anthony, part of this hardworking crew here at Club Double, the home of the West Ruse. And Gary Kelly. Well, they brought the mat up this time. All right. Eric Kelly. First ball of the penultimate end. Pretty good start from Gary. He’s um Jack High. What a reply from us Manchester though. Probably going to see some attacking balls during this end now. when Gary Kelly switches over the other side of the green. You can just see on the shadow he’s got the hand up to say stop and stays right near the bank which is probably a really good home because my way is see at the moment you think they’re going to be a little bit of an attack happening at some point I’d love to sit in behind this Jack now going to get the edge of Gary Kelly’s bowl and toucher Well, I think we might see Luke Jones line up and go wham here. Very hard to beat those two bowls from and very much on target. One of them gone. That’s actually got rid of push his other bowl. So just the one down now. Cody Griffin’s going to run through. Come to a decent home. Well, he can’t go for the kill. Or you can play more controlled and try and just get a little disturbance on that jack. Do go for the kill. You’re probably going to lose your bowl you’ve got in your hand. Just wants this to hold on. It’s not going to. It’s two second shots though, but you’d reckon that they’d be confident to be able to get inside those two. Two shots the difference. Two ends to play here at Club Do home of the West do ruse for the Inland Petroleum City of Do International fours. A reminder for those who are New South Wales bowlers. State mixed pairs. Entries now open. Contact made. Jack has sprung back up. One shot to Gary Kelly. Well, actually daylight is shot. Gary has a good second. State Mix PS qualifying entries close tonight. So, if you haven’t got your entry in tonight, you can only get on the waiting list. Qualifying on the 1st and 2nd of November. And as we did mention, state finals are here at do and that one will be June 2026. Schedule is available. draws showing region names for state championships are done ready to be published. They will be available in the near future. Great pile from Apples for the whack again. Apples has gone. Jack stays. Aaron doesn’t waste any time. He’s jumped on the mat to try and put it back. Two ends to go to the difference. Uh needless to say, this one another critical end. But u huge for to win this end. Get back within one playing last. They’d love to for Aaron Tease to draw a couple of shots here and be holding even even. But uh still plenty of room for Nathan Wise to get one into this head. Well, probably good enough for shot. More than good enough. It’s very well played. Oh, he’s once he’s got one. It’ll put him out of a three shot lead with one to go with one bowl to play too. Tease might be considering trying to smack this head, but I think has got the tea. I want contact. Well, he’s got out clean and got rid of Aaron Apple, his closest ball. So, we’re all holding two, but Nathan Wise has got a,000 ft to draw a shot. There is no way in the world a man of Nathan Weise’s ability should miss this bowl. He should get the shot easily. The previous one was shot and teas already put it on the board. But has he taken it too easy? Well, that’s one. Who’s picked up the mat? Well, Gary Kelly’s picking up the mat here. He he is. So it’s 1110 after 14. Nathan Wise would be very disappointed with that effort. He drawn shot with his previous and he had plenty of room. Is it one of those cases where you just take it that you’ve done it so you concentration levels are just not quite there? Nevertheless, we’re coming into the last end. And a draw. I Well, might be happy with a draw here. That five wins in a draw might be enough to get you into the top eight, but they certainly would want to claim the win. No doubt whatsoever about that. Last end won the diff. And uh well, it could be plenty of dough riding on this end in the grand scheme of things. [Applause] All right, Gary Kelly. First bowl of our last end. Uh most teams either completed or getting close to their last end. We will have a lunch break following this game. Players will get their lunch and then we’ll be back. Maybe quarter twoish the next round. And that’s fantastic from Manchester sets up the start of his head. Gary Kelly is in behind though. We have seen that the teams are quite happy to attack. And Gary, this ball just doesn’t seem to be turning quite as quickly as you would have liked. We’ll tail off at the end. It’s in behind. So great home. So Bush Mancaster drew a beauty with the first. Probably wants to add 30 to 50 cm of weight. Would want this one in behind. Anything up to a meter and a half good. Gets inside of Gary Kelly’s B. Great home counts covers. So Luke Jones, he’s got to follow it down really. He’d love to just draw a shot to start with. He even more love to trail that jack back four feet to Gary Kelly. I don’t think you’d play for that at the moment. Luke, well, it’s not a real confident look on the face. That’s cuz he’s got a fair bit of speed. I think he might have been just had in the back of his mind to trail and play the heroic shot and the adrenaline might have just pushed it through. So Cody Griffin chances to add thing is when you’re holding good shots and good position you you tend to play that more relaxed balanced shot. Cody’s got into a great home. So still there for Luke Jones though and that Cody Griffin B might just give him a nice little look a little visual aid just behind Jack high so you know that your line is to get underneath it and around about level with it. Gary Kelly is watching this and urging it on wants it round O Manchester. Great ball, Luke Jones. Touch her in behind the jack. And now a call from Nathan Wise to Cody. Just positive draw. You can sit that bowl. Trail the jack. Even contact on us bowl is not too bad at all for them. Just wants this to turn down the track and get on to Luke. Got the edge of it. I think he’s got enough. Yes, he has. Cory Wedlock. He can play similar to Luke. Just wants to get in that hole. Gets a toucher here and they’ll be holding game. But Cory’s pushed it a little bit. Turned us over. No real change. And I think Aaron Applebe now come forehand. Try and just get down to that Luke Jones bowl. Yep. And that’s exactly what Nathan Wise indicates. Forehand to that bowl. Can’t see the ball coming in, but he’s not quite sent it. No change there. So, backhand draw shot for Cory Wedlock. just wants to get a little touch on that jack. Just dink it round the corner to Luke’s bowl. Very close, but just not quite enough running. And there’s the call from Wisy. Same again down to that bowl. I think you can even afford to attack with two feet of weight. Get your own bowl. He’d be very unlucky to push it through the head. Just going to punch Cory Wedlock through. Still one to Curry. Curry. They’d be happy to pick up a one. Take a two shot win. A guarantees he’ll play the backhand in there. So there wants the jack to come back to this bowl. It’s just holding on. He’s got a bit of speed on this. Well, he’s got the best back. Did just push Gary Kelly’s other ball into the ditch. So, didn’t gain a huge advantage out of that one. So, Nathan Wise, he wants to play through his own bowls on that side. I don’t think that one’s going to come back enough. Be happy to get position at the back as well. Yep. And that one’s just going to hang on. Yeah, good ball. Great home. Could be the bowl of the tournament for if he gets this one. Well, he’s hunting it. They’re looking. They want it to hold and it’s not going to. And that’s I think that’s Apple’s bowl that’s come down. Nathan Wise not going to play his last. So, it’s a victory for Curry Curry over. I think they’ve got a couple, maybe even three there. So, a victory for Curry Curry over Aurorilla in round two of the Inland Petroleum City of Do International fours. And we’ll be back in uh half an hour to 45 minutes after the players have had their lunch with round three. I look forward to your company then. But uh until then, it’s time to say goodbye.
