Your favorite match ever? Yeah. Maybe the John Cena match that we had at SummerSlam, the first one. People, they don’t understand. Crowd reaction is everything. If you watch stuff with the volume down, but you watch it with volume up and you’ll realize, oh, maybe this is better than that’s everything. It doesn’t matter about the match as as long as long as people responding. And they were really, really loud at that SummerSlam match. [Applause]

  1. AJ just gets it, man. Athleticism is great and impressive to watch, but the storytelling, the crowd reactions, the playing with emotions, THAT is what wrestling is really about. And when you have a match that hits those factors AND is athletically impressive, you just hit a homerun.

  2. TNA Unbreakable 2005 – Styles vs Samoa Joe vs Chrisopher Daniels is my favorite match ever wrestled

  3. The Triple Threat against Joe and Daniels is objectively his best match ever. It's probably my favourite match of all time considering everything.

I only remember the Cena Summerslam match because AJ actually beat him. Cena losing used to be a rare event then. Especially against guys that didn't match Vince's preferred stereotype. Pre-2016 Cena only ever lost to Bryan and AJ I think. I don't remember exactly when he lost to Kevin Owens, but when he promptly went on to make Kevin tap out in the next PPV, that whole win soured my impression of it.

  4. I dreamt about that match way back when I was 7 years old i used to watch both WWE and TNA and i was really curious about them wrestle one day and yeah that's worked 😂

  5. Seeing AJ STYLES beat JOHN CENA….CLEAN blew my fucking mind. Absolutely love that match

  6. The first person to ever kick out of a super AA. That is to this day one of the craziest kick outs I’ve ever seen. Absolutely incredible and in my opinion better than their Rumble match.

  7. Styles v Cena I can say is equivalent to The Rock v Hulk Hogan.

The Rock v Hogan: Icon v Icon, present v past, wrestling draw v wrestling draw

Styles v Cena: TNA Icon v WWE Icon, present of WWE (at that time) v past of WWE (he’s a part timer during this time), wrestling draw v sports entertainment draw

  8. Feel like he deserves way more from the business it’s heartbreaking really to see how hard he worked to be this perfect polished wrestler the time he really put in and not see his name along side the greats is crazy he’s the exact reason why i started watching TNA I feel like his WWE debut was well overdue should’ve been sooner he would have accomplished more😢

  9. 2016: this is the worst match
2025: everybody wants John Cena vs AJ Styles match

Edited: Royal Rumble 2017 so many memories and nostalgia 😖
