AURORA, Ont. – Lauren Davis shot a 6-over par 78 on Monday to lead the Central Michigan women’s golf team during the first round of the Canadian Collegiate Invitational at Beacon Hall Golf Club.
Davis led the Chippewas to a 321 team score. CMU is in 12th place in the 12-team field.
The final round of the tournament is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Tuesday. The tournament was scheduled for 54 holes but was cut to 36 because of poor weather on Monday.
Also for CMU on Monday, Rachel Niskanen and Ella Zanatta both shot 7-over 79, Alexis McMurray posted an 85, and Zoe Dull carded a 92.
Davis is in 46th place in the 66-player field, while Niskanen and Zanatta are among a group tied for 51st.
Veronika Kedronova of Kent State shot a 6-under 66 and leads the tournament by two shots over Anne Fernandez of Auburn.
Kedronova led Kent State to a 281 team score. The Golden Flashes, the only other Mid-American Conference team in the field besides CMU, hold a three-shot lead over Auburn and a nine-shot lead over Ole Miss and Virginia, both of which shot 290 on Monday and are tied for third place.
