Surge of bets for Europe to win Ryder Cup
Weekend money narrows gap as USA remain odds-on favourites at 4/6
Monday 22nd September 2025 – Europe have attracted the bulk of the weekend support to win the Ryder Cup, according to William Hill, narrowing the gap on Team USA (4/6) despite the hosts remaining clear favourites.
Staking so far on the result has seen a split of: USA 50%, Europe 47.5%, Tie 2.5%. One sizeable weekend wager on Team Europe now leaves the book showing the defending champions as a 16% losing outcome and USA as a 14% winning outcome for the leading bookmaker.
On the other hand, staking is more one-sided in terms of who will lift the trophy; USA 66% vs Europe 34%, with current exposure showing USA as a 14% losing result and Europe as a 27% winner for the book.
A flurry of bets across the weekend has made Justin Thomas the biggest liability in the Top Combined Points Scorer market, while JJ Spaun is the standout risk in the Top USA Points Scorer betting.
Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “USA may have remained odds-on across our outright markets at 4/6, but the weekend belonged to Europe. On the match result, we’ve seen virtually a 50/50 split in stakes and a single large bet has flipped our exposure, so Europe would now be a 16% loser for us, with USA a 14% winner.
“In the To Lift the Trophy market, two-thirds of the money is for the Americans at 4/6, while Europe at 6/5 would currently be a 27% win for the book. We’ve also taken a few notable punts on the prop markets, with Justin Thomas now our biggest liability for Top Combined Points and JJ Spaun for Top USA Scorer.”
