Just played Club La Cima, one of the highest golf courses in the world, at around 3,000 meters (9,842 feet) above sea level. The thin air was wild—my drives were flying an extra 10-15%, making clubbing down a huge challenge.
For context, the highest regularly played course in Latin America is La Paz Golf Club in Bolivia, at about 10,965 feet.
Has anyone else played here or at other high-altitude courses? The altitude completely changes the game. Definitely a unique golf experience!

That’s cool. I played a high elevation course. I couldn’t get my swing to work. Air was too thin. I was out after 9 holes
Did you get a separate cart for your O2 tank? Holy shit.
Illinois. Flat lander.
That’s really cool – I’ve played the lowest one…..Furnace Creek in Death Valley
I’ve been the highest player on a course before, does that count?
I bet you did Panama red.
Banff Springs at only ~5k’. Rentals but my ball flight felt / looked a little different. I was hitting a bit longer, but would like to play more at that elevation with my own clubs to compare. 10k’ would be pretty wild.
Quite a few of the courses in Colorado high country are at higher elevation. Highest hole I’ve played was at Pole Creek where one tee box was sitting close to 9,000 feet.

I’ve played a few in/near Tahoe in the Sierras but nothing that high. In Tahoe the ball definitely carries further, I can only imagine what my drives would look like at 9k feet of elevation.
I was going to stop in Leadville, CO and play a round but couldn’t make the timing work. It’s above 10k
Mt. Massive golf course in Leadville Colorado. There’s no specific elevation given but it’s somewhere between 9700 and 10100 feet. I play there once a year. It’s a cool course.
For anyone in the US that is an avid skier/boarder this is about 500ft higher than Breckenridge base elevation.
One of the few places I’ve gotten altitude sickness at. I still go and cross my fingers each time. It’s hit or miss
I played golf in Vail, CO. The thin air makes you feel like a pro! Every club had + 25 yards.
The Lodge in Cloudcroft, NM. It’s a shorter course too and at over 9000 feet elevation it feels even shorter. Strongly recommend!
I played a course in Montana with my dad once. I dont think it was nearly that high but the views were absolutely breathtaking.
I play there almost every weekend! Its a but of an unconventional course, but i love it!
My score is always the highest
I can feel my heart rate in this picture
Colorado has some high courses, but I guess I’ve taken it for granted being here 20 years. Although playing in Florida did bring me back down to earth a bit…no hang.
How much did that affect your carry distance?
How much of a club did you have to back off of due to the extra distance?
I play an 8,600 ft course in New Mexico all the time. Love a cool round of golf? Can’t imagine playing golf in hot temps.
Go play Mt Massive in Leadville, CO. Highest elevation course in North America!
Not the greatest track but one to check off. And yes, some hypoxic symptoms can easily happen if you’re not ready for it or hydrated.
Is this in Kingston, Jamaica by chance?
Very talented dog.
