Ever wonder how pros make the ball zip back on the green? In this video, we reveal the three crucial factors for generating backspin: loft, strike, and speed. Mastering these fundamentals will give you more control around the greens. Watch this quick golf tip to learn how to spin your wedges with confidence.
So, we need loft, we need speed, and we need strike. Ideally, we want to strike it between groove two and groove five. Now, what helps us do that? We need a tight line, which we have here. Now, the second thing I’m going to do to help me strike low on the face, I’m going to open the face like this. This exposes the bounce and gives me more chance of striking it between groove two and number five. To get the speed, all I’m going to do now, because I’ve got plenty of loft, I’m going to make sure I have a fairly long golf swing. I’m gonna allow the club to release and strike the ground just before the golf ball. I’m allowing the club to almost glide and let the bounce do the work. I’m not trying to hit down. I’m just feeling as if I can just allow the club to land on the ground, release the club. That’s going to take care of the strike, the speed, it’s going to launch low and hopefully spin straight away.
