But she’ll have to be patient after a weather delay halted her title charge in the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship.
The Cavan star was just a shot off the lead after opening with a bogey-free, seven-under 64 on Friday.
But she spent Saturday sitting in the clubhouse as thunderstorms and torrential rain allowed only a handful of players to play any golf.
Maguire was tied for fourth, just a shot behind Alison Lee, Sarah Schmelzel and Minami Katsu at Pinnacle Country Club, where Stephanie Meadow was back on two-under.
The Ballyconnell talent was frustrated not to play any golf after her sensational start, but she’s looking forward to next week’s Ryder Cup action at Bethpage Black, where Europe will be bidding to win away from home for the first time since 2012.
“It’s going to be exciting,” said Maguire, who was the star of the show in Europe’s 2021 Solheim Cup win in Ohio, winning 4.5 points out of five.
“I think Europe have a very tough task on their hands. But obviously, our boys are in good shape and have some good momentum on their side.
“I know they are pulling out all the stops and were at Bethpage the last few days preparing, and they’ve got a huge team behind them.
“I don’t envy them with the crowds; it’s obviously going to be a very tough task. But we’ll be rooting for them and cheering them on, and especially our Irish guys, Rory and Shane.”
Maguire arrived in Arkansas after a two-week break at home, where she could feel Ryder Cup fever brewing,
“There was obviously a lot of back and forth with who the picks were going to be, and then obviously, Irish Open, there was a lot of buzz,” she told Golf Channel.
“It’s exciting. I mean, everybody loves the Ryder Cup and the Solheim Cup. Those team events. You just can’t beat it, and the rivalry in the atmosphere and all of that.
“And my brother actually lives in New York, so he’s hoping to go. So that’s exciting for him, and we’ll have one more European fan hopefully there.
“But it’s such a cool event. We’ll be on our way to Hawaii [for the LOTTE Championship], but hopefully we’ll catch some of it on the way.”
Maguire is keen to head to Hawaii with another win under her belt, but she admitted the weather delay in Arkansas has been frustrating.
“I’ve just been chilling out really,” she said. “Had breakfast, had lunch, played some card games, not really a whole lot you can do. Just have to have a bit of patience.
“There’s been a lot of heavy rain. I can’t imagine what sort of shape the golf course is in, but hopefully we’ll get some golf in the next few days.”
It’s been an up-and-down season for Maguire, who is ranked 77th in the world after notching just two top-10s this season.
But she feels she’s playing well and hopes to prove it, however many holes are played in Arkansas.
“Obviously, when you’re playing well, you’re itching to go and you want to get out there,” she explained.
“But at the same time, I know that I’m playing well, so it’s a nice position to be in.
“We’ll see what comes over the weekend and what we can do. But ultimately, the goal is to try and get as much confidence as we can this weekend.”
Officials will decide today whether they reduce the event to 36 holes or play all three rounds.
“I think the way this tournament always is, it’s a bit of a birdie fest,” Maguire said.
“It’s always a little bit of a sprint. So you’re just trying to make as many birdies as you can.
“And if that’s 36 [holes], great. If it’s 54, even better, but nicer knowing that it got off to a better start yesterday.”
