Graeme McDowell and Rory McIlroy with the Ryder Cup in 2010

Over the course of the Ryder Cup’s 98-year history, only eight Northern Irish players have represented Europe. That doesn’t sound like much, but perhaps the better way to quantify it is through their impact.

For instance, some of the most iconic images from the Ryder Cup have Northern Irish players at the forefront. Darren Clarke celebrating with Lee Westwood at The K Club in 2006. Graeme McDowell rolling in the winning putt at Celtic Manor in 2010. Rory McIlroy shushing the American crowd at Hazeltine in 2016.
