FRANKLIN, Tenn. — Sophomore Katie Magner fired an even-par 71 to move up 29 spots on the individual leaderboard in Round 2 of the Mason Rudolph Classic Saturday at Vanderbilt Legends Club. With Sunday’s third and final round remaining, Richmond is in 15th place at 35 strokes over par (603) in a loaded 16-team field.
Magner made six of Richmond’s nine birdies Saturday on her way to her even-par 71, a seven-shot improvement from her Round 1 total. She is the top Spider on the individual leaderboard at 7-over par, tied for 51st.
Magner is coming off the best finish of her career, a fourth-place result at last week’s Tribe Invitational, which Richmond won with a program-record 31-shot margin of victory.
Magner’s 71 Saturday was at least four shots clear of every other Spider. Senior Hannah Lydic shot a 4-over 75 and is tied for 65th in the field at 10-over par. Maya Beasley is at 8-over par, tied for 57th, after a 5-over 76 Saturday.
Freshman Addie Doroh shot a 6-over 77 for a second straight day Saturday and is tied for 71st at 12-over par, four shots in front of senior Olivia Wilkie, who’s tied for 82nd at 16-over par (158).
Sunday’s final round will begin at 9 AM ET.
