After Old Pro Golf’s initial announcement regarding the closure of its castle gates on 28th Street in Ocean City, Maryland, the business has since gone on to correct that only the castle structure itself will close.
That’s right — the historic, medieval-themed miniature golf course itself will remain open.
“28th Street will remain ours and only the castle is leaving! We apologize for the confusion — but yes only the castle will be leaving. Stay tuned for what comes next!” Old Pro Golf said in a Sept. 15 Facebook post.
What comes next, in place of the castle, remains a mystery; for now, that is.
“We will be replacing the structure with something as iconic and fun, but it will remain a secret for now,” Old Pro Golf shared with Delmarva Now.
The brand-new attraction will be unveiled in 2026.
Old Pro Golf — founded in 1965 by Herbert J. and Aileen “Deany” Schoellkopf — operates four locations and six courses in total throughout the resort town, with each indoor and outdoor course featuring an elaborate theme.
The mini golf course is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
The castle structure will close on Oct. 14, 2025. Until then, Old Pro Golf said it invites its loyal knights, queens, jesters and mini-golf warriors to conquer the castle one last time.
