Enjoy the extended highlights from Rei Sakamoto and Justin Engel in Tokyo

There’s the early break. So dangerous to go in an opponent’s forehand coming behind it much. That was a tasty forehand from Sakamoto. [Applause] Little hit and miss in the opening seven games, but Such a high quality point. There’s the 17-year-old who comes out on top once more. [Applause] Job done as far as the first set is concerned. Really professional set of tennis from Justin Angel making his debut for Germany in the Davis Cup and so far so good for the 17-year-old. Takes the opening set 6-3 in just 30 minutes. Sanchez in set two. 93% for the German. He’s only missed one serve. It’s not like he’s rolling it in either. 13. [Applause] So getting a second hand on it. That helps. Obviously practiced that a lot. It’s tricky when it hits the net like that. What a shot that is. It might not be. That is absolutely perfect. And a difficult time. 1530. Oh, that’s magnificent. Once again, sensational backhand up the line from [Music] [Applause] having to stay in the set once again. 56. Oh, he’s stolen the point. Read the play. Sakamoto and delivers a beautiful angle. A risky decision by Justin Angel. He was trying to fake out his opponent. Didn’t work. Under such pressure, wasn’t he with the return? But once more, no panic from the 17year-old. He’s pressing once more. Sakamoto, he’s trying to answer our question. Hey, it’s me. Of course it’s me. I’m ready. just so good. Sakamoto slams the door shut in the tiebreaker and in the set. And it will be a match tie break to settle this battle between these two uber talented youngsters. Sakamoto in the second set. 76 [Applause] whipping up the back of the ball. was just a little short and invited. [Applause] Oh, there’s another hattick of back hands. Just doing enough to stay alive for now. Oh, still not done. Magnificent tennis from Sakamoto. Incredible stuff. What a great volley that was. Fourth time is a charm. and seven as Justin Engel closes out the match and completes the clean sweep for Germany. A four love win in Japan. That very much is the cherry on top of a magnificent cake. What a performance from the 17year-old. It was a a supreme encounter between two players who we expect to see a lot more of in the coming years. There’s Enel on his Davis Cup debut gets the win and gets a bit of a drowning for it as well from his teammates. But Takamoto can certainly hold his head up high his debut as well and he impressed too. That was a lot of fun. And it’s Angel who wins in the match.
