Figured I’d post since I see mixed things on here about used golf ball experience. I bought 5 dozen yellow chrome soft triple track balls from lost golf balls.com. Purchased that many to get free shipping. All in it was $107 with a discount code. From what I can tell from the markers next to chrome soft it’s 70% 2022 model year and 30% 2020. New they would have been $290 so I’m saving $3 with every ball. They were 5A mint and have some logos on the side and some very minor cosmetic marks but generally they look great. Haven’t hit them yet but seems like a good decision.

okay i’m gonna say this and i’m not trying to be funny. but what’s the difference between a used ball that might have been shanked once into the woods and lost, and then a pro golfer using the same ball for 65+ consecutive strokes?

  2. I’ve purchased probably 20 dozen balls from lostgolfballs.com over the years. Mostly pro V1x and vice pro plus. I think I average $1.50 per ball. I’d say for the most part my experience has been really positive but I have noticed a lack of consistency from ball to ball so I guess that’s what I’m paying for. I will say however I just bought 4 doz of the 3.5 k-sig and I’m really impressed. With tax it’s probably $1.60 per ball. I think I’m a Costco golf ball user from here on out, at least as long as the 3.5 is in production.

Im good with used balls most of the time, but my connection is a little old lady that crawls through the gorse at Bandon Dunes sells them to me $20 for 100. not a Nitro or Top Flite Turd in the bunch. All Titlist and Taylormade with an occasional Callaway.

I feel pretty good about them. You kinda have to really suck to lose balls golfing with a caddy. They seem pretty fresh.

    God Bless golf ball lady.

Chrome Soft is a good ball, 5 years old won’t make a playable difference. Good buy.

they’re fine for the everyday golfer – i’ve just always been superstitious since my junior golf days that lost balls have bad juju by the nature of how they got there lol

I work for an earthworks company, and lots of development here is old crappy golf courses and driving ranges. So many free balls. Range balls are for my kids/work related golf outings to give to the guys who don’t really golf. The brand balls I keep and wash and they play fine for me. But I’m not a great golfer by any means. If one feels off I toss it and move on.

  7. QuietShhhnake77

I play Titleist TourSoft. I buy the pristine on LGB. I usually get 2 dozen for around $45 including shipping. They look like they just came from a fresh sleeve. As a +9 I just can’t justify paying $40-$60 for new premium balls. I just ain’t that good.

I’ve ordered from lost golf balls a few times. It’s generally an OK deal but I’m consistently frustrated by the number of bad balls that they grade as mint or near mint.

Last week I ordered 6 dozen near mint balls. A half dozen were cracked, stamped refinished, or the wrong ball entirely. Another dozen that were blemished well beyond their posted guidelines for near mint.

  9. Senior_Apartment_343

My friend works at titliest, i asked him if a ball could get waterlogged if it was in the mud for 6 months. He told me there is no chance unless it’s cut

KGB all day. Got their 3a balls once and they were 3.5/4a. All their 4a/5a balls are legit, I try out all different kinds the only new balls I pay for are Maxfli Tour series, Legato, Srixon when they got the b2go. https://ebay.us/m/7ZPj3O

  11. Extension-Seat-7640

Switched to Maxfli Tour and no longer buy used as the price for new is comparable.

  12. Catchyusername1234

I have a store near me that sells used balls. I buy proV1’s for $20 a dozen. All are in perfect shape and you can’t visibly tell the difference between them and a new one

  13. lol there’s a diver down the road from me who gets good balls, but then he also has shitty shag balls that he sells in a potato sack, $27 for 200 balls. Me and my +100 scores love it.

  14. CreamyOreo25

Lostgolfballs.com is great. I got 100 assorted balls for 40$ from them. They turned out to all be vice tours.

  15. l0ng-time_lurker

I think it depends on the seller and the golf ball. If the golf balls are from different specs (think prov1s across many years) you aren’t going to get the consistency of buying new ones.

I’ve had nothing but good experience with used golf balls.

  16. I’ve probably purchased 30-40 dozen balls from them in the past 10 years, of several different types to try. I’ve settled on 2/3 types, and buy them if available in 5A mint.
they’ve always done a great job getting me near-new balls for 5A grade. But this last time, of the 3 dozen I bought, there were about 6 that were scuffed beyond what I’d say is 5A (Sharpie markings I don’t care about).

I mentioned this in a survey they pushed to me, and they followed up and asked for pics. I sent them, and they sent me a free dozen of the same ball.

I’ve been using lostgolfballs.com for a while now, and will continue. The golf balls are high quality, priced well, and they have very good Customer Service.

Got a whole bunch of used Srixion Q-Star Divide’s from Frank’s Shanks last year. I have no complaints.

If you’re looking for affordable Chrome Softs, just buy the Callaway “Practice” Chrome Softs (cosmetically irregular balls that are still USGA approved) that are always on sale for $20/doz.

  19. DemonEyesKyo

I think it depends on your scores.  sitting well requires consistency, which you won’t find in used balls. If you are still working on your game and in the mid-high HCP then used balls are fine.

I gamed used balls for the longest time due to the fact that I lost so many. Now I lose maybe 1-2 a round. So I try to find sales in New balls in the off season. I can usually find Premium balls in the $2-3/ball range. Having the same ball for an entire season really helps.

  20. TheKingInTheNorth

Brand new maxfli tours are cheaper whenever Dicks runs their frequent discounts, it’s $20/dozen when they do.

  21. wellaby788

Oh the great hunt for ball.. ine of the best things about golfing is the thrill of the hunt..

  22. Wonderful-Credit1595

I’ve ordered from [LostBalls.com](http://LostBalls.com) before and had good luck. I buy the best, or second best, rated Pro V1’s. which ever ones end up costing about ½ what a brand-new dozen would cost.

So far, I have not been disappointed.

On a side note, a few years back I bought an extendable ball retriever for about $12. I walk a public course once a week playing solo at first tee time.

There are two ponds green side, and I’ll take about 10 minutes each pond and grab what I can. Cannot believe how many mint tour balls I’ve pulled from the ponds, and that’s just what I can reach.

The rest I bring back to the range and donate while improving my swing…

  23. dmanthony41

I’ve been upgrading my Wilson balls lately. When I hit into the woods, I come back out with a TaylorMade, Callaway, or Titleist.

  24. I’ve never had a bad experience with lostgolfballs.com

  25. dmanthony41

I find a lot of Titleist balls in the woods, so I’m determined they aren’t very good balls. 🤣

  26. StandardCaramel4512

Hell, that’s only gonna last you till November what are you gonna do for the rest of the year and every other month after that?

  27. EntryExisting3089

I’ve been buying used locally for years. $15 a dozen for premium grade balls, why would anyone pay $60+?

  28. Save that money! I’m lucky enough to live in a neighborhood with a course that allows walking during non-playing hours, AND I’m a shitty enough golfer that my ball choice does not weigh into my score. I’ve yet to buy a ball since I started playing again in May, and don’t plan on it until my handicap is in the teens (which, at this rate should be… never).

  29. Maleficent_Bite_1765

For a similar price you can get maxfli tour balls brand new – with a coupon, I think they are usually around 90-100 for 4 dozen. 6 handicap and I’ve been thrilled with their performance!

  30. mannnerlygamer

Ask yourself why are they used? In cases of multilayer especially multi core balls it may be the cores aren’t centered properly causing unstable flight and sending balls off into rough or out of bounds

  31. hugesploods

Idk I got like 4 dozen brand new 2025 maxflis for $3 more

  32. ReddtitsACesspool

Am I the only one who doesn’t buy balls? I always find 3-4 balls a round intentionally looking in the right areas on the right holes lol.

Even if I lose 1 or 2 that round, I always find 3-4 at minimum. I don’t know the last time I used a new ball. I may need to see what that is like

  33. bsabresfan

Ive been ordering from lost golf balls for a couple years now. At first I ordered lower grade balls, but wasn’t pleased. Ive since switched to pristine or mint. Pristine I dare you to find a difference. No logos all look brand new. I generally order velocity balls because my son can lose them with the best of us. The last few times I got them for $12/dozen. I prefer taylor made tp5. Can’t seem to get them pristine, but still great at mint.
