PLEASANT HILL, Mo. — There’s a lot to be said for a team on a win streak.

The girls golf team at Ray-Pec High School is on a heater, having won every regular season golf event they’ve entered since last year. Coaches believe their regular season win streak has reached 19 events in a row, which includes all five events they’ve played in 2025.

Team of the Week: Lee’s Summit North High School volleyball

“They’ve really bought in,” John Plankers, Ray Pec’s third-year head girls golf coach, said.

The Panthers current varsity roster includes at least three potential college golfers. Ray-Pec set a new school record at an event held at Paradise Point Golf Course in Smithville, Missouri, shooting 314 as a team. That breaks down to an average score of 78 for all four golfers.

“In a season-long journey, we’re going to have ups and downs, but we’re going to play for one another and play for our program and the individual accolades will follow suit,” Plankers said on Wednesday.

Ray-Pec won its district last season, and finished second in 2023, setting the season for high expectations this time around.

“We can go as far as our mindset is to go. I think as long as we keep working hard and keep putting in the work,” Addie Swan, one of the Panthers’ juniors, said.

“There’s definitely pressure heading into this year, but if anything, I feel we’re exceeding it and rising to the challenge,” Ansley Harper, one of Ray-Pec’s seniors, said.

The streak is important, but the season outcome is what the Panthers are really focusing on. Their fifth-place finish in last year’s MSHSAA Class Four State Tournament is the best outcome in Ray-Pec history. Now, the bar sits even higher for these Panthers on the prowl.

Up next for the Panthers: Monday afternoon, and another regular season golf tournament. This one’s held at Fred Arbanas Golf Course in Jackson County. 2025’s state tournament will be held in Sedalia on October 20-21.
