Two weeks into looking for some starter clubs for my lady and these are the results. People are insane. The one reasonable set I saw was gone in 30 minutes. Whenever I come to marketplace it always comes down to, how much time would I have saved just buying the ladies top flite set and moved on with my life.

It’s hard to find a good set because they’re either priced insanely high or they’re garbage and still not cheap. The deals on used are mainly had when buying one club or type of club at a time OR refreshing marketplace and getting lucky
Orlimar?
I Managed to find a full set for my other half for £55, you just need to be on it and keep an eye daily as they do pop up, especially with house clearances etc.
Don’t buy a full set from someone. Buy just irons from someone, driver from someone else, woods from another, bag from someone else. I got Titleist Ap2 716 3-PW in good condition for $200. I bought a Tsi3 Driver 9 degree for $150. Bought my putter for $30. All from marketplace.
FB marketplace sellers are mostly delusional unless you get really lucky. I have much better luck finding good deals on eBay.
I always message with “is this available?” and then when they say yes, I say no kidding it is that is a disgusting price
I just purchased 2 wedges from 2nd swing in “average condition” for the first time. The pictures were exact, and these are barely used for “average”.
Well, you gotta know what to look for. That much is for certain. Amazing deals absolutely do pop up though.
the same people telling you that are buying 600 dollar drivers
At those prices, just go to dicks and buy the top flight set for $299.
Go on GlobalGolf, use GOLFER25 discount code and move on.
Yard sales and estate sales I pay $1-2 a club $5 if it’s something really worth it. I’ve also gotten two golf bags with clubs and balls for free off marketplace, check the local buy and sell / free pages.
U can find good deals on marketplace. Found my gfs clubs on there. Wasn’t a complete set but had most-missing pitching wedge and 3wood. But it came with a bag and was under $100
I checked facebook marketplace first and saw a lot of really cheap used sets … or so I thought. Then I realized that none of them listed the clubs, the make or model, year, nothing, just “used golf clubs”. Then I checked the profile and realized that they are selling everything under the sun and I presume that they are “flippers” that just go buy used things offline, and put them online at an increase and don’t even know anything about what they are selling.
Then I went to a local store running a clearance on used clubs and got a set put together by someone who actually knows what they are doing, and got a much, much better deal than *any* of the used stuff listed on Facebook. Don’t need a full set, just driver, putter, wedge, couple irons. That will do me for quite a while on the range and even more than a few of my first games I reckon, then I can worry about filling in the set or replacing them.
I got a full cobra iron set for 150 with brand new grips on
FB marketplace is the worst. I price an item below 2nd hand market value in order to avoid the low ballers. People have the nerve to make offers 50% lower than my listing!?!
Like new, SKT+ for $1400. I’m fielding offers of $900?!? GTFOH
“vintage collectors item”
Ladies’ clubs and lefties are going to be the hardest to get a deal on because there just are so much less supply out there. I found that to be a problem for hearing up my kids. The deals are out there, you just need to be patient and pounce. I suggest just buying a really cheap set of men’s clubs as an interim set while on the lookout for a ladies set.
I was able to snag a full set of ladies clubs minus putter for $60 earlier this summer for my 10 year old. Got a junior putter for $10 about a week later.
People on Facebook in general are absolutely insane. A brand new qi35 is 900 bucks where I’m at and people are listing there slightly used ones for 800 bucks lol. Seen the same ones up for months
Marketplace can be a real dogs breakfast. Sometimes you can find good clubs well priced. More often, you find garbage like what was in the photos insanely overpriced.
If you’re looking for good prices on used clubs, try sites like Global Golf, Golf Avenue, or Golf Roots.
I’ve been doing the same thing and can’t believe what ppl r trying to charge. dicks sporting goods has a top flite women’s starter set that has driver, 5 wood, 5-9 irons, wedge, putter, and bag for $300. Ill be going with that for sure
Keep hunting. I wasn’t able to find anything under $100 for like a month and then I found a pretty much full set and bag for $10. Just gotta get lucky with timing
or [golfavenue.ca](http://golfavenue.ca) if you’re in Canada is a great place to find used clubs at a reasonable rate.
Unless you are in Europe can’t find anything.
I ended up buying mine of vinted instead of a set i just brought the ones I was told to get. then found an unused tiltlest sunday golf bag for 10£ on facebay
Haha this reminds me of my first ‘upgrade’ in the early 90’s. Had a set of knock of ‘Tommy Mann Bumber Bubbles’ that I swear looked like 1:1 reproductions of the og TM Burner Bubble driver/wood set.
They were actually pretty solid woods 😄
I was having the same issue getting myself some clubs. Besides a lot of expensive posts, I messaged like 4 people on marketplace that had decent deals and not one replied over the course of like a week. I got tired of dealing with it and realized I was basically gonna spend the same amount of money on a pretty worn used set of clubs so I just went and got the top flite set. I just wanted to start playing at that point. Also it has been like 3 weeks and I can still find the same posts that I tried to message….
I’ve found some good clubs at the thrift store. I found a set of Vokey wedges, t300 pw, old callaway driver and a bunch of other random clubs for $30 on one trip.
Look to eBay. I built my daughter a mint set from there. Everything was a couple generations old and needed new grips but the clubs were basically unused. TM driver, 3W and hybrids. Cobra irons. Cleveland wedges. Odyssey putter. Sun Mountain bag. All for $300ish. 7 or 8 transactions to get it all.
Don’t overthink it. When I got back into golf I just ordered the Cobra Fly-XL set when it was on sale, got it delivered same week, and never looked back. You really just need functional clubs as a beginner.
Yup for clubs, marketplace has fantasyland sellers. eBay is much better
Sellers:
Starter clubs?! These are finisher clubs! Clubs to take on the toughest of course challenges! Be gone vile man! Be gone from me!

The good deals go fast, like anything real good is gonna be sold under an hour. Check out this set I bought the other day for $400 CAD (~$300USD)

Keep an eye on online sellers too. I got a hell of a deal on a set of Ping irons from GolfRoots a coule years ago. They were a few years old, but still plenty new enough for me and a quarter the price of a new set
Find some [TA 845s](https://playitagainsports.com/locations/cincinnati-oh-kings-auto-mall/product/S000330619/Tommy-Armour-845S-SILVER-SCOT?sku=11735-S000330619&utm_source=googleshopping&utm_medium=cse&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22670407118&gbraid=0AAAAA-SFdGt4kJAiXufXU3vRWvUJCUm9Y&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI7sKyl6vijwMV0KVaBR1vXwXOEAQYBCABEgJygvD_BwE)
It seems to be super regional. Finger Lakes of NY, there are deals everywhere. I check my friends in Nashville and it’s a disaster. Southwest FL I have seen some good prices. South Carolina was hit or miss.
Those prices are insane.
