The Oregon men’s golf team sits in 12th place at the Sahalee Players Championship after the first two rounds of play. 

Competing as an individual, Ramil Saelim leads the Ducks in 18th place after carding six birdies in 36 holes.

 

Freshman Sebastian Desoisa shot 2-under in the second round, positioning himself at the top of the Oregon lineup. Jay Gould-Healy and Tim Chang are each 7-over after day one, making improvements in the second round.

 

No. 6 ranked Arizona State leads the team field with four golfers in the top-20.  

 

How It Happened

Saelim went 76-70 in the first two rounds, shooting ten pars per round. The sophomore is just 2-over for the tournament, looking to improve his standing on Sunday’s third round.

 

Desoisa shot a 7-over 79 in the first round, but recovered with a pair of eagles to shoot a 2-under 70 in round two. Desoisa is one of two players with two eagles so far, including Arizona’s Zach Pollo.

 

Gould-Healy had seven bogeys and two birdies in a 7-over first round. He had an even second round, with two bogeys, two birdies and 14 pars. Chang went 77-74 on the day, carding six birdies and 18 pars.

 

Aiden Krafft shot Oregon’s lowest first round with a 4-over 76. Krafft carded seven bogeys in the second round to finish with a 5-over 78. Casper Nerpin finished 16-over after shooting 82 in the first round and 78 in the second.

Desoisa’s two eagles on Saturday are tied for the most in the tournament … Desoisa also carded the second most par-5s in the tournament (4.42) … Saelim was among the top-25 with nine total birdies through three rounds … Desoisa and Chang carded 34 pars a piece, while Gould-Healy shot 32.

 

Next Up

Oregon returns to the course to wrap up the Sahalee Players Championship with a final 18 holes on Sunday. Saelim will be the first Duck to tee off at 7:20 a.m. PT.
