Garrett finished 1 nil to Roam here today in South Yorkshire. What’s your thoughts on that game? Yeah, not good enough. Uh spoke a lot about starting the game, the the moment we’re in, the moment they’re in, and done the exact opposite. We weren’t brave enough. We didn’t pass the ball well enough. We gave them all the energy they needed in the position they are in, and then too little too late. Second half, we got better, but uh yeah, we we’ve not found the formula yet of backing a performance up another performance. and we have to go back to work this weekend and and try and kind of go again like we’ve done this season, but yeah, not good enough. Uh their goal about five or six minutes before Halime, did that make much of an impact on what any changes you were planning to make going into the second half tactically or none? No, we didn’t play well enough first half. We knew they’re a team that’s direct and put the ball in your box. We wanted to be brave in position. We weren’t didn’t pass the ball well enough. uh didn’t get, you know, give options to the man on position and didn’t really put into practice what we wanted to do. Like I said, second half I thought that got better. We made some changes uh to to try and help that. But I said at halftime, you know, too too many players weren’t playing to the level they can play at and we could have made so many subs. We we decided not to uh to to give them uh some chance in the second half, but until we made the changes, I didn’t think the game really changed. And it did. I thought we we got on the ball, but it was too little too late. When a team is just sitting in, we didn’t then know how to attack the box. We were putting too many straight crosses in that are easy for them to defend. And yeah, too many players. We didn’t play well enough to to win the game. One cross that did find its target though was for Josh McInness late in the game. The goal got ruled offside. I’m not sure if he had a chance to watch it back. That must be extremely frustrating either way. Yeah, I think the the referees were as bad as us today. So, uh, yeah, I’m not sure what to say about that, but not enough actions in that second half either in terms of the the final third. And, you know, like I said, playing the extra pass, we were putting too many of those straight crosses in. It’s very difficult from to score from. We have to be braver. I thought a was very good one v one and he tried to get to the by line. Uh, but on the other side, we didn’t. we put too many diagonal crosses in that are easy for them to defend instead of getting one v one or or making an extra pass to to get in a better crossing position. Like you said, they’re a kill feature towards the end of the game as well as Carlos who came on and Danny started three deadline day signings already on the pitch. Um maybe not in the results today, but how impressed have you been with them, you know, in the short time you’ve seen them on the training pitch? Yeah, good bit. It’s going to take time. Whenever you come to a new club, there’s obviously a lot of uh emotion on Monday and traveling down and changing club and then obviously training has been, you know, not as full as the other players this week for them. So, uh I know they will get better uh from this game going forward, but yeah, I thought Akil was excellent when he came on and showed that attacking threat. Uh and Carlos and Danny, like I said, you know, it’s their first game. There’s a lot going on for them, but they will improve for that. Ryan Ryell absent from the squad as well today. Can give us an update on him? Yeah, picked up a hamstring injury during the week. Hopefully, it’s nothing serious, but obviously missed the game from it. Over 300 fans as well made the journey up South Yorkshire for the second time already this season, and they didn’t stop backing the team towards the end, which is a great effort from all of them over there in the corner. No, they didn’t. They always do. Uh, like I said, I thought later in that game, we we we looked like we could have got something, but too often this season when we start games the way we do, we we can’t win points. And we have to get better. Uh, every single one of us has to get better and and try and get some consistency to our performance and consistency to results.

Got to be much better away but I’ll always back my team
It was a bitty game fitzwater played well for exeter but the sharpness from last saturday wasnt there the subs looked good whe
Caldwell was only saying how excited he was with his latest additions & looking forward to the rest of the season. Well one game later and everything is the same again, with the side not turning up at away matches. An unsettled team lacks confidence and needs belief that they can score goals and not keep repeating the same gutless away performances. Ring the changes or expect a torrid season. We may be a small club but fans expect players to play with at least some pride and not to become the whipping boys away from home !
If I was an Exeter fan I would be very embarrassed by how this guy conducts himself on the touchline and with the fourth official. I thought Steve Evans was bad, but this bloke takes the biscuit.
At least his summary of the Exeter performance was accurate.
Toothless in attack.
