What’s going on? Hello again. Welcome to the fantasy DP world show. You got knock change since yesterday? No. It’s really hell. Better than most. Many doubted we ever. We are. We’re back. joined us yesterday. Yeah. For the golf show. If you didn’t, go back and watch that. Mly appreciate that. We covered off the uh events from this week, BMW and the Pro Core, and had a little look at this week’s upcoming French Open, which we’re going to dive a bit deeper into here, as well as uh talking off how we got on in our fantasy team last week and and our picks for this week. Not bad. Not bad. Not bad for with me. We just get straight into this. Yeah, let’s do it. Should we go for the last week at the B BMW PGA? Let’s do it. Absolutely terrible week for me this absolutely terrible. I went I went rogue. Rogue. I went rogue. And you know what? You called it. You called it last week. You said I’m going rogue. When you picked your captain, I think you knew deep down it was a stupid move. I I did. But considering he came second in a tie last third, sorry, in a in a playoff last year, I thought he likes this event. He didn’t like this event. He uh he missed a put I think I text you on the Monday on the on the Thursday when he made his first hole and he was one over just enlightened. Yeah. Who are you talking about? Thrista Lawrence obviously I think it’s obvious. Yeah. Had he have had he have um so inconsistent. Had I had not have picked Thrist Lawrence and picked a different captain, I would have been right up there cuz everyone else did pretty relatively well. So yeah, annoyed at myself for that. was trying to gain an an advantage based on people. You don’t pick different players and and it clearly backfired. It’s the season, aren’t we? Wing. It’s um don’t need to take as wild risks as you did. That was wild. But I think yeah, it’s time to if you want to start making a few inroads, playing it safe, I think is um is done because we’ve got got the French Open this week. We got four events left on the back nine. After that, after the Rider Cup, we go to Scotland. Yeah, we’ll be there. Um, Spanish Open in Madrid, DP World India Championship, Genesis Championship in South Korea and then the two DP World Tour playoff events. So, uh, seven events left in total. So, time to go a bit rogue, but not too rogue. Mr. is all across easy, you know. So, last week, are we jumping to go through a team or we going through yours or Oh, hang on. There we go. I’ve got mine up on screen there. Um, so last week I went Matt Fitzpatrick, captain. Um, based on on on the pick on the thought that he’s he just feel like he’s back and he’s had a pretty solid week. couldn’t quite get it get it done and get over the line but he’s finished in fifth in the end which you got to got to be happy with. Lovely. I don’t think in that field if you pick Sad out or Norin Fair late there were a couple in our mini league who had Nin. Um but I think in that field I didn’t I I wasn’t looking at them too many big names who I hadn’t picked. Mhm. Um including Havland who was only my third pick. He’s finished in tie for fifth alongside Fitzpatrick. Brighton was only my third pick. Also finished in the tie for fifth. Barry Hall who last week if you watch the show I had Ober in there till the very last minute and I was deliberating. I was like I need I want all mentioned on the podcast last week I want Hall in. And um yeah probably should have took B out who missed the well he made the provisional cut on day two but then missed the missed the cut on day three. And then Tommy who did make the original cut kicked on and finish in the tie for 46th. Yeah. Um it was a good week. 1,883 tournament rank dragged me up a little bit further um to 516 overall. And you’ve just what snuck into sixth? Sixth on our mini league leaderboard. Yeah. Underneath Premier Queen John Wood. How did you go? So we we know your your captain was an absolute be. So yeah, everything else pretty I’m happy with everyone else’s scores really. Matt Fitzpatrick tied for fifth. Ryan Fox tied for 46th. Michael Penge tied for 13th. John Ram tied for 13th. And Shane Lowry tied for 46 with Thristan Lawrence bringing up the rear. He miscut despite being me captain. So that’s absolutely turmoiled me. Absolute pony. Yeah. Talent points 888. Tournament rank 18,496. And yeah, way down. Should have picked Elvis smiley. Really? Way down. Way down. Yeah. So, um I’ve opened up a little bit of a gap after that, too. Then we tighten them in your league lead, but still sixth and seventh, but there’s um couple hundred points difference now. So, just run through the the top 10 then. D Kevin Renton’s rent 75. Bennis Bash is in eighth. Here we go. Jay seventh. Myself. And here we go. down sixth pen cru on wood I am closing and I will have you double bogggy team in fourth pass picks in third and we have a change tomorrow so mentioned last week that at one point they were level um Mr. Ben managed to see off Bart do last week no such loss this week is our new leader um and has opened up a sort of 40 it 46 point lead despite despite Mr. Penav and Alex Norin as well. That’s that’s impressive. Did he? Fair play. He al He also had Cory Connors and he also had um Billy Oshel. So that’s where he’s lost his points in. Barty Doo’s just had a consistent um consistent week really similar to myself. Only had Bob Mack who missed the cut. John Ram was a captain and then a few other solid solid picks. Fair play. New leader. Yeah, well done Caris. Um Darren Sharp, Mr. Pen needs to uh put a few in the top in in the final weeks of the season to try and get his top plate back. Can you believe we’re nearly hit the end of the season? It’s quick. It’s gone really quick. Yeah. Yeah. No, I’ve enjoyed doing it though. It’s been been good fun. Few uh few highs, few lows. We’ll do a season review, I reckon, after the uh the DP World Tour Championship. We’ll look back and pick out some memorable moments and some dreadful weeks and maybe what I think what we’ll do this this season, we’ll do some predictions next season like breakout player. Who do we think is going to win the majors and we’ll then we can in 12 months time and come back and look and see how many we got wrong. Yeah, that’s a uh it’s a good shot. I like it. It’s been it’s been lovely watching Sorry, this is going on a bit, but been lovely watching the likes of Cuba and Lindle. um Pen come come out and and well yeah John Perry. Yeah. He’s been around for a while but he finally managed to um say himself really. Yeah. TP World Tour this year which is it’s good to see especially in the major as well. Yeah. anywhere. Yep. FedEx opened the France the golf san not nom la Brites in Paris. Um yes that’s coming up this week. Um it’s the oldest European national open. Yeah. So outside of the British the open the British open it was inspired by the open um first held at Labuli in 1906. So it’s getting on a bit um so it’s been the golf national since 1991. Isn’t it crazy though? Crazy that this level of golf is only 100 years old. That’s it. Given how old the earth is and stuff and how long we’ve been around. We’re so in if in the infancy of life I’m telling you that’s sorry about the philosophy lesson there Nick the the Yeah and the technology everything developing over the last 100 years it’s been a lot faster than Yeah than probably the the 19 years before it definitely yeah got a lot of smart in the last 100 years haven’t we? Well, we have I wasn’t here. Yeah. So, the golf national had this since 1991 and it’s getting some renovation and construction work done on it. So, it has moved over to um that place I just butchered the name of. Kip first winner of the was of the French Open was French golfer Arnell Massi. Oh, really? Yeah. The open year after first non-British player to do so. Um, we’ve had major champions have won this in the past such as Sevi. Yeah. Sir Nick Faldo and Bernard Langanger. So, it’s an illustrious names and prestigious tournament really. Yeah. Quite a big one. I think it’s just the fact it’s surrounded this year by the Ryder Cup and the BMW. It’s been a lucky day. Kind of um takes a bit of bit of the shine off it because obviously it’s not attracting the top top players. Um, but it’s a standout event in its own right. Definitely. And um sponsored by FedEx as well, I think is shows you how how big it is. Yeah, FedEx will be disappointed. Yeah. So, you got any thoughts before we actually pick our teams out to run through the sort of main antagonists? Really go down in order of world rank. Cory Connor. Yeah. Any thoughts? um missed cut last week in the BMW. I wasn’t impressed with him at all last week, but he did have a good second round. So maybe that’s a sign of things to come, but don’t think I’d be picking him for that reason. No. Start off the season quite well. Distant first month in 2025, but he’s been hitting you to 201. Nope. And in this field, he’s stand out next in the world rankings at 15 places below. Ryan Fox with 39. And not just that, he’s only 30% collect selected as well in the game. Yeah. A lot of people not fancy him. Who? Cory. Sorry mate. Um Ryan Foxy. Yeah. Again, he’s had a bit of a purple patch in the middle of the season in the last couple of months. Seems to have slowed down a bit, would you say? I don’t know really cuz the 28th after 1965th miss 46th in his last five events. It’s not bad. What? 46th miss cup. 65th his last three events. That’s pretty bad. Yeah, but at least he’s been when you’re the one who someone who’s going to get you some points as like a top finishes. You need 21. Yeah. Yeah. Not for me that. Next on the list is Thomas Dietri of Belgium. Yeah. Yellow glove. Couple of um few has he won once or twice on the PJ tour this season? Um he’s had he’s had a pretty strong year I think anyway. Yeah. Up to 42 in the world. Very high selection though. And I feel like during this back end of the season you want to be going for the lower selection players but you also need to be safe. It’s such a catch 22. Um oh sorry just the one win in Phoenix in February. um bit inconsistent since actually few mis cuts in there, but last week he he showed on the last round how good he was. Does a sign of things to come? I think you think he’s he’s back. Is that a glimpse of I think so for the last round. Yeah. And it’s completely different thing and there’s no point in even looking at last year’s stats really because the um it was the golf national totally different test this this course, wasn’t it? Yeah, good point. That’s to be fair, actually. Yeah, course history and tournament history is not a not a thing, I guess. Well, what do we what we talk about? Um, patriotism. We mentioned it on the main podcast on the golf show. Yeah. Think French are going to dominate. Do you think they think they’re going to be there’s going to be a cluster of them towards the top of leaderboard or Definitely. And I’ve I’ve gone three French players who I think will do well in my team because only because French are a very patriotic nation. Pastriotic. Patriotic. Patriotic. Yeah. And I feel like you got to go down to 115th in the world. Fan highest ranked French player though. Yeah. But like you’ve just seen Sadier how good he is from. I think they’ve done him dirty actually here with his photo on this DP World Tour game. He looks like an absolute clown. But he looks normal in real life, doesn’t he? Yeah. Yeah. He’s 120th in the world. You got Pavan 124, Hoover 136. But he’s him and Sadi particular slendon that way. Aren’t they definitely probably disregard that really if they get another season under the belt? They probably have them. I would say I’d probably put them to me inside the top 100 this time next year. Very such a good season. Uh Antoine Rosner 152 in the world and Roman Lang 147. They’re the highest ranked. Uh back on the the sort of top players we got when Mimu Lee Yeah. shown a bit of a bounce back to form last week. Do you think can kick on again? Yeah. His speed is unbelievable. Great off the tea. Um what we haven’t done what we haven’t done which would be really useful for for the uh viewers is to actual tell tell you what this course is about see what will it would beautiful tell you what sort of player this would suit and um who else have we got there Harry Hall as well who’s just had a great season on the PJ tour come over last week to the BMW W finished in a tie for 13th. Another strongest showing just consistently playing really well. Um so see no reason why not to throw him in in my team this week. We obviously will come on to our teams and but they’re like the the guys in around the top 50 in the world rankings and obviously we’ve talked about the the French guys. Um we mentioned on the golf show the demise of Brooks Kevka. He’s just had two mis cuts in Ireland and over in the PG BMW PGA and then he’s come back uh he stayed over in in Europe and he’s playing in this as well. It’s just it’s just a question why he’s doing this really cuz like our opinion is that he can’t be bothered but then if he he must want it if he’s playing these events or is it just his misses wanting to go shopping in these places? I think so. London, Paris. I guarantee if they’re in Milan next year, Brooks ke will be there fashion week in it. Just a bit about the course then. Um Paris, they’ve got two courses, the Rouge and the Greens are fast, well-maintained and club has a strong reputation. Historically haven’t hosted big events such as the Canada Cup the World Cup open to France before long and the semi trophy course is wooded in places accuracy of the tea is rewarded trees contour and strategy matters challenging fo such as the ninth and 18th which has got a big horseshoe type lake which will collect stray approach shots which is nice to see. Um, so who will it who will it suit? Accuracy of T bombers such as Marco Penge. Precise iron players like Minu Lee. Strong short game with scrambling such as in this field. Can’t really think of anyone off the top of my head. Potters on fast green. Yeah, Har. So porters on fast greens and then good course managers given the dog legs tree lines hazard positioning risk and reward decisions will be central. So yeah really uh talking about yeah I think he uh he might be first on the team sheet here based on what I’ve just said. Yeah, I have I at the start of the season I’ll let you into a little um we’ve discussed this. We did a lot of um stats stats based evidence and it didn’t do well at all when we did the more stats based. So I’ve been going with the gut really crash. Yeah, this best not cost the audio. Don’t know how much we lost there. This could be a bit of a disaster, but we’ll keep going and um pick our teams. Yeah. Yeah. Don’t know how long we were down there. I’ve only just noticed, right? Um, so in light of Jay’s analysis there, of course, strategy, I’ve heard it. Yeah, if you heard it, few tech issues there. I’ve got Thomas Dream, captain. Yeah, I think he showed enough last week to to show that he’s uh he’s his game’s in good place and he’s had a a good strong season over in in the American Sadier. Um, just riding that crest of the wave. So, while he’s still up there, going to pick him. Harry Hall consistent as um got a lot of traits that suits him around here. Um Antoine Rosner who we we’ve got a bit of PTSD about picking from earlier on in the season and we both said we wouldn’t go near him again, but I’ve decided to you use him for the second time this week. Um but he has he’s shown shown in America that he’s he’s consistently sort of playing okay now. So I’m going to let him off. But I’ve I’ve been burnt by having that attitude towards Tristan Lawrence previously. So you better make the cut, Antoine. You better make the cut or you’re staying in that in with Tristan. Uh last two picks, Martin Kuber, fourth pick for him this season. Another French national who is playing really well and on an upward curve. And then Tom Vant, another Frenchman who showed up well in the early parts of the BMW last week, who might well do do well back in his home country who’s had a consistent um consistent bit of form recently. Have you seen Martin Cous form by the way? No. Misc um 13th was the 13th last week. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it’s bad. It’s bad. Um Tom Van’s last four is 20 24 17 42 31. So if he finishes it like in the median then around 25 30 that’ll be a decent return for the lad. The lad picked him. Nice. Let’s get uh Jay’s slide up here. There you go. I think Sier is first name on the sheet given his last week’s last couple of weeks. where we might a bit of a hangover or as we talked about JJ Sporos before um he went on to do it from the players. So Sadier can do definitely do it given how well he’s playing at the moment. Lori Caner is my only little worry this week only because of his lack of form recently but I feel like he’s coming back and he’s he’s one of the best in the field for me. Um so he made it in team. Frederick Laqua is also sounds like just a Harris defender. Yeah, he does. But he’s he’s shown up in in some he’s shown up well this season. He’s had a decent decent season. Little bit hit and miss with his form, but when he does show it, he comes, don’t he? All over on top. And then I’ve got right hand because he’s in a purple batch. This is the only pick right on this. But yeah, um, Clemens Sordday form’s been really good. Um, he’s been top 30 roundabout every single week. I’m 15th last week. So, patriotism. I’ve won three French players in here. And then Mimui just because of how well he plays his irions and he and he hits the ball. So, he’s he’s an accurate bomber. and uh um Ari Hall may make it in the team depending on whether I can trust Lori Caner. Um few notable mentions Lerg Matthew I’m sorry Martin Kubra and Lingask three sort of yeah I was talking about an evidence-based approach last fantasy team we went so evident based on the start of the season did not do well time it seems like when we go with the gut and based on what it seems to seem to do a lot better Sorry. There you go. There you go. Few road picks there. This is um few road picks but measured and good rationale. Mhm. Fingers crossed you can uh kick on again. Well, not too well though cuz you close the gap on me if you do. I will. Um but I’m after you Mr. Mr. uh Mr. Drum Wood Premier Crew coming for you. Yeah. Um I think that covers it off, mate. Yeah, I agree. This is um so this is the Fancy DB World Tour podcast. It is going to not be in next week cuz we’ll be previewing the Radical Cup on the um on the main golf show. Yeah. And then we’ll be back the week after to discuss or we might do a little one just to review how this week went. Um but obviously it’ll only be a short one with nothing else to preview and then we’ll be back the week after to um preview the Alfred Dunner links. which I can’t wait forward to. We’re going to be might even do a little bit extra content this that week. Um see if we can maybe maybe throw podcasting at the halfway stage or something from from St. Andrews somewhere and um yeah the I’d be very surprised they allow us to film in the We’ll see. But we’ll uh we’ll give it a go. See what happens. Right. Uh yeah, I’ve been down from here. We go. That was fantasy CTP world torch though. I’ve been Jay. Enjoy your week. Enjoy the golf. And uh yeah, we’ll be back to the give you next week. Don’t forget um like sub film and buy a go for your dad with the promo code every golf or your uncle or your uncle or your granddad or your nine. Yeah. Yeah. Anyone anyone you know who loves golf will love Shots go. Get on it. Give me golf shots.com for an obviously 15% off and we’ll be back next week. See you later. See you later. [Music] Many doubted we ever see it. Here it is.
