As far as overall ability and numbers, Owens is right. But think about this, Terrell Owens, as all-time great as he was, was essentially let go of THREE different teams, while he was still in his prime. While Michael Irvin, even with all the troubles he got into off the field, played his entire career with one franchise. That should tell you who was more valuable not just on the field, but in the locker room. To a man, I bet most if not all those 90s cowboy players would agree that Michael Irvin was the leader of those teams. TO better individually, but Michael Irvin is by far the more valuable and impactful receiver, when it comes to contending for and winning Super Bowls.
PLUS Irvin’s numbers weren’t incredibly high mainly because those Dallas cowboy teams were balanced and more so lean into the running game with Emmett Smith and that all-time great offensive line. That’s why Troy Aikman‘s numbers aren’t that extraordinarily high. Context is 🔑 folks!
