UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. – The Little Rock women’s golf team wrapped up its second tournament of the fall Tuesday at the Leadership & Golf Invitational, hosted at the iconic Chambers Bay Golf Club. The Trojans finished 15th overall in the three-day event.

Lara Martin led the way for Little Rock, placing 24th at 8-over par. Eleonore Aernouts finished 40th at 11-over, followed by Fehild Graesel at 19-over and Elvira Flodstrom at 23-over.

“This week, the girls competed in an elite field on one of the nation’s best courses,” head coach Jenna Birch said. “I saw a lot of improvement from the week before at Purdue, which reflects the hard work they put into practice. We still have a lot to build on, but the hot start we had in round one shows we’re capable of good scores—we just have to carry it through the entire round.”

Martin turned in one of her best outings as a Trojan, highlighted by eight birdies in her opening round to card an even-par 72. Aernouts closed strong on Tuesday, playing her final five holes at three-under.

The Trojans will spend the next few days in Seattle before heading to Colorado for the GolfWeek Red Sky Classic, which begins September 22.

“It will be another test,” Birch added. “We face one of the toughest fields on one of the toughest courses of the year.”
