Athletic Bold Commanding. We’re talking about the uh Chevy Equinox EV and we have a huge show today. We’re just going to say just a massive show. We have Xander Schoffley on the show, which we don’t need to preface that too much because um he’s Xander Schoffley. He’s one of the staples of the US Team Rider Cups coming up. Um he just had a child. He won two major championships last year. So um unbelievable, unbelievable guest, Xander Schoffley. And we have a huge announcement in our world, which is the Adidas partnership. Um, so we really really do um a pretty deep dive into how much that that means to us and how we got here. Huge thank you to the fans and and kind of that type of global partnership. And um speaking of partnerships, it’s all this show. A lot of what we’re able to do. It’s brought to you by Chevy and it’s brought to you by the Chevy Equinox EV. Yeah, it’s a great show. We got a great show. People are really going to like it. It’s a and this is a great American brand that we’re talking about here. Chevrolet Equinox EV. these machines. You you you just got to see it to believe it. Or just go on chevy.com, check them out. You got all the info there. It is um it’s a great American company. This is a this is a great American podcast that you’re listening to. Yeah. And all this stuff is the reason we get to do these things. We have these great partners. We talk a lot about it during the show. Obviously, you just alluded to. Um we wouldn’t be able to do it without them. So, you know, the least that people could do would be to go check out the new Chevy Equinox EV. We’ve been talking about it a lot. It is the best in its class. all the interior, the 17inch diagonal touchscreen display. I’m obsessed with anything that has that good of an interior. For me, the whole entire car is in the interior. Um, it looks like a spaceship when you get in it. We’ve we’ve been lucky enough to see them at the Baru Classics. Awesome stuff. So, shout out to Chevy. Shout out to this show. Real good stuff leading into a huge couple weeks here for golf. If it’s distance you’re after, the Equinox EV offers 319 miles of EPA estimated electric range with frontwheel drive. Check out that 17inch diagonal center screen display. Uh, when it comes to EVs, Equinox EV is the smartest choice you can make. Coming from me, too, I don’t like to change things. I like to be pretty even keel. So, you know, this is like the opposite. This is my internal spiral that I had this year. I didn’t really show it cuz I was like, I’m okay. You know, I’m okay. You know, I’m okay. I’m okay. End up in the nutouse doing that. [Music] foreplay presented by Bars Tool Sports. We got a very big show this week. Uh for a couple reasons, really, a couple huge things in this show. Um first off, second half of the show has Xander Schoffley. Uh and he was awesome, man. He um he’s been he’s been through it since the last time we had on in a lot of mostly all good ways. He had a little bit of an injury this year and we go through all of that, but mostly he’s coming off a couple weeks ago he had his first child. um a baby boy, Victor. He and his wife Maya. And um he felt like a guy who had really had he he had a lot to say. He was he’s very into obviously the Rder Cup. Um it was so fun talking to him about him and Patrick Can’s partnership in these team events in these RDER Cups over the years. um him winning a couple major championships last year and then not playing the same level of golf this year, which was due to injury, due to a lot of different things. Um and he was just he was just a phenomenal phenomenal guy to talk to leading up to this Ryder Cup right now. And uh yeah, I thought he was great. Yeah, I I think Vander is viewed as pretty calm, collected, and quiet. And we actually got into that with him, like what what’s that demeanor? Where does that come from? How did you become that guy? But yeah, he’s, you know, he’s it’s a very interesting interview with with Xander Schoffen. I’m really glad that we had him on. It’s a very interesting time in his life, you know, with the kid leading up to the Ryder Cup. So, there’s a lot going on. So, we really appreciate him taking the time. But, yeah, we got 45 minutes with Xander that is I think people are really going to like that interview. Xander’s the man. I obviously missed that because I was with my baby boy, so that’s something that he’s going to have to uh handle with scheduling and stuff. Um, I also see like, are we super loud today? Is that something that’s happening? Are we all very very loud? No. Are we loud? I feel I feel pretty normal. You feel pretty normal in terms of your coming off loud to you there, Frankie. I don’t know. I keep looking at my thing. It’s like all the way. Usually it’s like halfway through. Whatever. Um uh yeah. No, it’s been a crazy day. Like when things come up, it’s like it’s not how it used to be where like my wife had to go to um a doctor’s appointment and then like I sprung on her that we had Xander Schoffley, you know, a little bit too late. Like as if as in this morning. I was like, “Oh, by the way, we have an interview at 9:00.” And she’s like, “Well, we usually do the pot at like 10 or 11.” I was like, “Yeah, we have this interview at 9:00.” She’s like, “Well, I’m leaving the house cuz I have to go to this doctor’s appointment.” We have a baby that like literally can’t survive unless you you like hold them or you like are around them. And I’m like, “Okay.” So, then you just have to miss stuff. It’s crazy. It’s crazy. So, it’s something that you got to get used to. And I’m very happy to do it cuz I love being around them. But that’s just something that I, you know, obviously like when you have things that are planned, it’s easier. But when things just pop up like that, man, I talked to JT a little bit where I was like, uh, I asked him to go on to the show on the show and he’s like, “I’m on dad duty today.” like just helping out mama and it’s like maybe six months ago I would have been like I don’t even know what that means like just come on the show for 15 minutes and now it’s like you can’t you can’t yeah talks about that too he’s like yeah thing things are different now because he’s got a kid changes a lot meeting Dave Portoi my kid was crazy how do you feel about see did you guys see that interaction of course so funny said that he has a big round face just like his dad I brought it up to Xander you know I brought I brought that clip up to Xander. He loved it. He finished with a Xander ended the interview with uh please tell Frankie congratulations for me. Wow, man. Yeah, I’m I’m sorry I missed that cuz we would have had some good things to connect about. He’s a great guy. I can’t wait to see him compete in the RDER Cup. Um but yeah, that interview is towards the end of the show. Yeah, the Dave thing was funny. We had Pizza Fest and super super nervous around him even though I was his right-hand man for like six years. Um, couldn’t have been closer to him. Couldn’t have been closer to Dave Portoy. It’s crazy. Like I couldn’t have felt more comfortable with him, but also never once felt comfortable with him because he’s just such a um, you know, he just requires so much like brain power and thinking and always being on your toes that you could never feel truly comfortable. That’s if you like respect the energy that he deserves. You know what I mean? If that makes any sense. Like there are people that just like slip around him and he just jumps on them like a lion. And I’ve always been like, I’m going to do everything I can to be on my toes and like if I have to maneuver my way out of here, I’m going to maneuver my way wherever I need to. So that’s like that’s a state of never being comfortable. So we had the baby with us. I we had landed from Dallas. We just did a quick 24-hour shoot in Dallas. Landed at LaGuardia. Hannah and the baby picked me up from LaGuardia. And then the pizza fest was no [ __ ] The pizza fest was six minutes on the on the uh GPS from LaGuardia. I was like, that’s insane. Randles Island right there with the city in the background. Pulled in. Parking went great. Got the baby out. We’re there at like 12:30. Things start. It opens at 1:00. So, we’re there in a good time. You don’t see Dave. And this is the other thing that I I I do is like I don’t force interactions with Dave. I want them to be as natural as possible. So, like yeah, I could have like just knocked on his because he was in like a little like area in the back, right? watching college football, you know, waiting to get onto the stage and like greet everybody and like people are probably going back there. They’re getting on the little bus. They’re like just talking to him. I’m not gonna walk on there with my baby because I know it’s like what what’s he going to do? So, I’m waiting for him to come to the Belli’s tent. My dad’s there. My aunt is there. My mom is there. My cousin Stephen, Brandon, Cat, the whole entire deal. We got the whole family there. They sung 4,000 slices of pizza at the Belli’s tent. Vodka. It was like, dude, people were going nuts about this. And I think it’s because we had pepperoni and everyone else had cheese. So, like, it was there was something about like people just kept coming back for seconds and thirds and they’re like, “We love this.” It was just a very, as Dave said, distinct flavor compared to all the other just regular cheese tomato pies. You know what I mean? So, that vodaroni pizza that I’ve had is off the charts. It’s off the charts. It’s off the charts. It’s not Dave’s like favorite style of pizza. He likes He Yeah, that’s not what he eats. He knows that. But dude, people were raving about it and the way my dad was making it, he was able to crank out a bunch of them as opposed to like these other guys that were next to us which are like old school. They’re doing all the dough right there and they’re like giving you the exact pizza you would get inside their restaurant. But they’re only able, you know, the lines are so long because they’re only giving you like one slice at a time and everyone’s waiting patiently for it. But at BL, my dad was cranking out like, you know, 10 pies at a time, right? Just acting like it was like, you know, just at BL like you got to you got a rush coming in for the Islander game. we’re going to bring out as much pizzas as we possibly can. So, it went really well, but they made like so much pizza. It was unbelievable. Anyway, so we’re sitting there, we’re helping him out. I’ve got the baby in my hands. So, now like 1:00 goes by, 2 o’clock goes by, 3:00 goes by, and you’re just not going to force an uh an interaction with Dave. 5:00 goes by. Now, you’ve got a baby that like can’t just like be out all day long. People are Al Santillo, the guinea [ __ ] guy. He’s letting Frankie play around with his finger a little bit. Frankie’s grabbing onto it. It’s like he’s meeting all the pizza legends, dude. It’s unbelievable. guys are picking him up, walking him into the pizza spots, showing them the oven. I’m like, “That’s a hot oven.” But yeah, he could he could look in there and you know, they’re like, “Wow, look at the fire.” And he’s like going backwards. This is this reminds me of like um you would see old videos of Steph Curry cuz his dad played in the league. You like taking him to locker rooms and like this kid’s getting an education. And that’s what it feels like to me with Baby Frankie at Pizza Fest where we’re going to look back when Baby Frankie becomes the greatest pizza maker of all time to be like, “Yeah, because he met all of these legends all at once when he was a kid.” We went to Lucali, Sally’s, Al Santillo. It really is. It’s murderers row of pizza. It’s the greatest day of all time. Shout out to Dave for even thinking of it and being able to pull it off. Um, so 5:00 now. So now the thing is when Dave goes from pizza place to pizza place, it’s a whole entire thing. you see like cameras and you see things that are like blocking the sun. So, you’re like, you know where he’s at and like you just see this group kind of congregating around from tent to tent to tent. So, now we’re doing the math. My dad’s freaking out. He starts to ask me I see all day he’s happy and now he starts to sweat a little bit and he goes, “How long until I’m like, “Dad, don’t get nervous cuz now if you you got the yips last time you did this, you got the yips. You made a pizza that looked like a Greek pizza. If you keep doing this, at some point he’s going to open up the pizza box and you’re going to hand him like a panini by accident. Like if you keep changing the pizza around, you’re going to end up not giving him pizza at all. So my dad’s like, “Should I keep it on a little longer? You got to tell me.” I’m like, “Dad, stop.” And now he’s like just flipping dough and talking to me. It’s crazy how nervous he was getting. And uh so Dave’s like two spots away, so we could hear him talking. And I got the baby. I’m standing there just and Frankie’s just kind of looking at him, smiling. And then Dave just turns around and goes back to his bus. So I So I’m like, “No, this is like 5:30.” I’m like, “No, this kid’s been out here all day. I don’t know what to do now.” So I text Awesome. I’m like, “What are you guys doing?” He’s like, “Oh, he’s going to take a little bit of a break and wait until uh wait and he’s going to come back. Uh he’s going to like I don’t know, maybe check the scores or whatever.” So now I’m like So now I’m in the position where it’s like now I’m just letting this this kid’s going to be out all day long. Like I I looked at Hannah, I’m like we ain’t going home. So, if this is me being a bad dad, this is what this is what our life is. We ain’t going home. We’ve been here this long. I’m not missing when he comes over here. It ends up being like 7:00 and all of a sudden Dave strolls around. Dude, we we had this kid out there in the pizza oven for like seven hours, eight hours. He ends up coming in and it went perfect, right? Like it’s exactly what you wanted. He liked the pizza. He made a couple jokes. He said Frankie’s face was fat like mine and it was perfect. Everyone got a bunch of laughs. We got an unbelievable photo that we got to post. Frankie, little Frankie is just laughing and smiling at Dave. I’m like that. Yeah, that’s what you should be doing that because he’s the reason we’re gonna have everything we have. Um, so yeah, that’s my kind of like Dave and meeting my son story, which I don’t know how many people care about it, but for me it’s oddly like one of the most important days of my life, right? because like he’s the guy that I’m like he’s the only reason why not the only reason obviously like my dad got me to the point to get to Dave but like Dave’s giving me all this stuff and like now I have a kid and like you know Dave’s like providing for all that right like he’s like our boss he’s the guy that like makes this all happen so like it was a pretty like awesome and like proud moment for me to like introduce him to him because I’m like your like funding and like and helping me do all of this like your ideas and your life and your work ethic has caused all of this to happen. And like it’s not just me, it’s like the pizza places. It’s just like a it’s a happy emotional day at the pizza fest. Just like how much good he can do with just like being himself and it’s like total Dave glazing right now. I get it. But it’s a special thing to see. Especially now it’s like I’m building a family. It’s like holy [ __ ] dude. Like we really did it out here. Like this is like this crazy. You also got to remember and you can correct me if I’m wrong, Frankie. The bar stool fund was it was initiated because of Bellies. Like when that when the COVID was going down and like businesses were going out like they’re going out of business like Dave stepped in and he helped a ton of people and Bellis was one of them. And like I get you wanting to stick around to just have Dave meet your child. Like that makes the most sense in the world to me like that. Yeah. It was just it was just a stressful day but it ended up just being so so good as as most interactions with him go. So but yeah. Yeah. The Brilies fund everything. It was going to be like a Belli’s memorial fund at first is what he was going to call it. And we ended up selling Belli’s t-shirts and they sold like a million dollars worth of t-shirts. And he’s like, “We have to make a real like a real thing here and just call it like the Barcel fund.” He ended up helping like 500 600 businesses or whatever. Th this guy Dave is a big part of our lives. The biggest people don’t know that. Yeah. The big like It’s true. It’s true. I I’m glad he got to meet him. He He looked and you know for I didn’t know I didn’t know little Babe Frankie been out there for 12 hours but he looked good in the video. He looked like he was he’s like oh there he is. There’s the guy I’ve been waiting to meet all day. I didn’t watch I couldn’t bring myself to watch the whole entire video cuz anytime I’m around Dave I just let other people watch and then if they’re watching it in my vicinity I just kind of make them turn it off. So it’s like a real healthy thing that I got going on. But like I Frankie cried at one point cuz I just wasn’t paying attention to the way I was holding. I was just staring at Dave while we were all talking and Frankie just went wow. Like he just kind of looked at at Hannah and just went, “Wow.” You got to Someone’s got to do something to me and and Dave goes, “Oh, here we go.” Like he looked at him, he goes, “Here we go.” I’m like, “I know.” I’m like, “I don’t know. I don’t know what I’m doing with him.” And it turned into a whole thing. I got like pure red and I just handed him off to Hannah and he like cried for two more seconds and then looked back at me and was like, “You [ __ ] totally forgot about me.” Yeah. So, it is what it is. Unbelievable. Is what it is. I thought it was great. I thought it was great. It was a great video and uh yeah, Pizza Fest looked awesome overall. It’s a great day and and anyone that’s been there will know it’s it’s the best day you could possibly do for pizza. And if you haven’t been, you got to go. I people see the videos and the pictures and they see the lines, but like it all moves pretty quickly and and the fact that you can really it’s genuinely like the type the pizza that you would get in these iconic places. They they bring their real ovens. It’s unbelievable what they build out there uh at at this event. So, um yeah, no, I I couldn’t recommend it more. It’s great. Next biggest thing uh like I said, we got a big show is um just a huge announcement. I know folks hopefully saw the video um yesterday that it came out. If you watched last week’s podcast, uh we were ducked out in Adidas stuff. The announcement is that we are officially Adidas athletes and it’s awesome. the video I think c uh kind of captured a little bit what it means to us. But we also myself and Frankie really talked through kind of the history a little bit and like the fact that we’ve gotten here with Adidas. We uh of course supposed to announce it last week. Didn’t feel right with everything kind of going on in the world and this country. Um so we recorded it. We were all locked into our Adidas stuff. were so um so like kind of put back by something like Adidas and even like I’ve got this shirt on wearing it in the air like you just see Adidas absolutely everywhere and how iconic of a brand Adidas is and Adidas Golf and how little of an operation this started as and still kind of feels and to have all of that sort of like come together and be a real thing that that we’re now able to present and showcase to the world means so So so much to us. So again, Frankie and I, we sit down for 20 so minutes and really go through all of it. So here’s us talking about Adidas and the partnership and how much this really does like mean to us. Been a hell of a morning if we’re being honest trying to record this here podcast. Uh but it’s a huge one because as you could tell from maybe the logos on us, we do have a big announcement. Uh we are officially Adidas golf athletes. We put the announcement video out yesterday. last week we were in Eugene. People that are little dot connectors out there in this hero world could probably piece a couple things together. If you care that much about this brand and you are paying attention, you probably could piece a couple things together. But uh it’s been a very very cool couple months for us getting onboarded as one might say with uh Adidas, Adidas Golf. Um I personally can say, you know, I’ve been rocking Adidas probably since I was zero years old. Um, if I had to look back and think about the type of gear, shoes, onesies, clothes, all of it, um, that I’ve been wearing for my 38 years on this on this, uh, planet. Adidas is probably one of, if not the most worn, you know, logo that I’ve ever had and for the longest period of time. The three stripes, um, the Tfoil logo, all of it are about as iconic a sportsware logos as have ever been created in the history of this world, in the history of humanity. Um, and so for us to now be partnering with Adidas and all the different things that that comes with, Leo Messi, Patrick Mahomes, all the golfers over the years, Colin Morawa, um, Ludvig, and now the Fourplay Golf Podcast, uh, it’s been very surreal. We got a lot to talk about on that front, but it’s myself and Frankie today. And, uh, that is the big news in our world, my friend. Yeah, it’s massive news. Um, we say it in the in the announcement video. Um, it’s been a long ride for sure and we’ve had a bunch of partners from the beginning of this thing and and that doesn’t fall short on us. Like, you know, I feel like we’ve been very lucky since day one. We’ve had great partnerships and sponsors. Um, this one is like what everything kind of led to. Um, you know, it’s global. It’s a massive massive brand that is really just putting their huge uh engine behind everything that we do. Um it when we got approached, we became quote unquote free agents um over the last like half a year or so and you know kind of going out and seeing what we’re going to do next and you see all these types of brands kind of pitching us and we’re pitching other brands and there’s a lot of business talk that’s going on behind as as Jerry Jerry likes to say business-wise. Um, and it was really interesting to just see like all the differences in all the different companies and merchandise apparel uh companies and and what they were kind of offering and and what they could do. And then, you know, we really were were were going through them and then Adidas came through and the way that they kind of pitched us and the way that it was presented to us once we heard that name, it was we all kind of looked around the room and it was like that one felt different than everything else. Like there’s just something about that level of a company and a brand, right? And you said it like it’s like Patrick Mahomes, Messi, it’s all these incredible Anthony Edwards on the NBA. Um you you got Trevor Lawrence and I when we went to the headquarters it was like Trevor Lawrence and Travis Hunter the huge banners on them. It’s just these massive athletic stars. Massive stars. Um and then us now where it’s just like there’s like there’s a comedic value to just how how athletic of a brand it is. Um, like aside from the golf stuff, like just how how deep they are in all sports and then you’ve got like us and Beef and and Jerry and everyone just kind of running around being idiots and we can barely like break 90 and it’s like we’re the least athletic crew that’s ever, you know, put a video out on YouTube and now we’ve got arguably the best, you know, athletic brand in the world. Um, it’s really really special for us and it’s something that we really um it means a lot to us personally and and and professionally to see the logo of of foreplay and Barcel golf. And beneath it, you’ve got these big massive brands now. You’ve got Tailor Made, you’ve got Chevrolet, you’ve got Adidas, like these are you got Body Armor, which is Coca-Cola. Like these are massive massive brands now. And it’s like it just solidifies the amount of work that we’ve kind of put in. And I know a lot of people like to give a [ __ ] but we did put a lot of work in. We’ve built this thing from the ground up. In the announcement, we literally show like how it was it was at one point frowned upon to do a golf podcast. And you can speak to that more than I can, but to to full picture and and full circle to be able to come back and and see that like now like when I tell my buddies like, “Dude, it’s Adidas and the things that they’re sending us and just like the athletic wear and the shorts and the shoes.” I played high school golf. I had Tour 360s. I There’s pictures of me on my Instagram wearing Adidas golf shoes from when I was like 14 years old. Like that’s just what I did. I would go to Dick Sporting Goods or Modell’s here in East Meadow. Modell’s got to go to Mo. Got to go to Modell’s. Um I would always get Adidas stuff. That’s just what I got. That was like the common man shoe that you would wear and like that’s what I would get. It would be right there. The other day when we went to a Baroo Classic, I needed Adidas shoes. I walked right into a dick sporting goods. 65 bucks. White pair of Adidas golf shoes. I put them on. It was like they you didn’t have to do any sort of fitting with them. They weren’t like really uh they didn’t give you blisters. They were super comfortable. No one said a word about them. They’re like, “Oh, those are really nice shoes. I went on my day.” It was like that is that’s what it’s all about. That’s what Adidas is. It’s It’s for everybody. And what do they say? Wherever you play, no matter what you’re doing, Adidas is everywhere around you. So, I I’m kind of going on a tangent here. I’m very very very very honored and I feel very lucky to be a part of something this big and this uh global and international and with this large a scale and it just to be honest it doesn’t feel real when you really think about it. No, it doesn’t, man. And for us, you know, I I remember every year at back to school season, you know, my my mom would take me to one of the shoe stores, it’ be Foot Locker or whatever, and like I would get to buy one new pair of shoes for that year. That was it. That was like that was what my foot was going to be for the year. And it was a decision. And I remember getting like a new pair of Stan Smiths almost every time. And I would go in there and I’d be like, “Would I go with like the green or would I go with the black or would I go with like a blue? Would I go with like an all-white one?” That was like key for me. I would rock and I had so many of those uh pairs of shoes growing up. And then, you know, you kind of do go back through and you look at like when we started the show and the podcast and I remember there was no plan behind it. You know, I think number one of the most frequently asked questions that we get at the Barto Classic and all that is like, “Did you ever foresee it, you know, being this?” And I’m like, not not only do we never foresee it being this, we never foresaw it being anything other than like we were always trying not to get in trouble with Dave and get fired by Dave. That was pretty much it. That was like the only logic that was behind anything that we did was like, we’re going to write a bunch of blogs. We’re going to try to get a lot of page views and we’re going to try to now like make videos. We were doing man on the street videos. Trent was dressing up as like corn. like Frankie was doing all the behind the scenes of the pizza reviews and then producing shows and it was all basically just so that like our boss would let us continue to be employed at Bartool Sports. That was it. That was like the goal. And then when we got our first ad that came through, it was like a blue ribbon or something which was like, you know, you’re able to they send you food, you cook it, pre-made meals, all that stuff. And we were like, “Holy [ __ ] we’re actually driving some version of revenue to this company to Barcel Sports.” And that was huge for us. That was like a pivotal moment. We were like, “Oh my god, someone is paying to like support what we are creating, what we’re like producing.” and to uh over 9 years like watch all that snowball into and you just laid it out perfectly of like dude we’ve got Adidas and Tailor Made and Chevrolet and like these gigantic gigantic companies like Hershey’s. It’s like that is outrageous. And Adidas is Hershey is as iconic as it gets. And Adidas is is one of the most recognized logos ever created. And it’s been, you know, at gigantic uh sporting event after gigantic sporting event. It’s been in pop culture. I wore an Adidas, you know, headtotoe tracksuit last week on the way home traveling, which is all I’m going to do now. It’s the most comfortable thing in the world. And I got like 10 compliments over the course of the day from people. Like my barista in port in Portland was he handed me my coffee and he just goes, “Sick tracksuit, bro.” And I was like, “Yeah, hell yeah.” It’s just like it’s so recognizable and it’s it’s so global. It’s international. It’s been there through so many iconic moments. And for them to partner with us, you know, there’s a lot of like red tape when you’re a company like Adidas. It’s not, you know, it’s not the pirate ship like Barcel Sports is. It’s Adidas. They got to be very careful. And for them to kind of trust their name and everything they’ve built with us is truly a a very humbling thing. And none of it, you know, would be possible without all the people listening, all the fans, all the folks that have supported what we do. If we just like we would love to do what we do if no one listened, if no one watched, it would still be incredibly fun. We would still be talking about golf and other [ __ ] in the world, tying all of it together and having these conversations. We would still be out playing golf and I would probably still be taking footage of like my dog [ __ ] game and trying to get up and down and try to piss people off in matches and and having a laugh and having a drink and at the end of the day shaking hands and saying, “God damn, wasn’t that fun? Golf’s the coolest thing ever.” The fact that we like do it for a living is uh is so cool. We’re so lucky to do that. And it the fact that it attracts something like Adidas is because of all the people that watch and listen and support and they buy the gear and they show up at the Bartool Classic and all that kind of gives us this platform to put the three stripes on and have Adidas be like, “Yes, we want to be a part of that brand.” And the Adidas folks so far have been just phenomenal, man. They get what we do. They love what we do. Um they want to get us set up with like our own style, right? Like that’s a big thing for me going forward is I’m I do want to branch out a little bit. It’s like I’ve kind of been mostly just like in terms of you know we laugh with you laugh all the time Frankie about like player a when it comes to like generic character this I feel like that’s mostly how I’ve dressed my whole golfing life and golf career. um which I never have had an issue with. But I’ve also thought as I’ve gotten a little bit like older, more into this world of like how can I can I get a little like wild or a little different with like my style and there’s so many different options. They make so much different stuff at Adidas and uh and like I mentioned, it’s been such a piece of like culture. Like Adidas is beyond just sportsware. It’s like a cultural brand that people know. And so yeah, I when that came across our desk, I think all of us we ended like an hourong call about which direction we were going to go in in what like a minute and a half basically being like, “Oh yeah, Adidas, of course we’re going to do Adidas.” Well, there were a lot of brands that and and you you could look around at other golf creators and all the people in our space and they do deals with brands that are niche to golf and they’re great brands. They make great golf apparel and all that stuff, but when we saw this come through, it was like this is something different. It’s another level. And the fact that they want to partner with us the way that they did and how aggressive they were and how incredible uh vision that they have for what they’re going to be doing in the game of golf and other sports as well. Um that just resonated with us uh to a point where it wasn’t even a it wasn’t even a decision. It was you felt it in your gut. You knew it. You know, you go back home and I tell my dad like we just signed a sign we signed a deal with Adidas and it’s like what? Like you’re a real athlete now. You know what I mean? like you say that like it’s psychotic. Um, so yeah, no, it’s been very fun. So, shout out to them. Shout out to our whole business team that kind of got that done and and and got that across the finish line. Shout out to Adidas’s whole team that got that across the finish line. We’ve loved uh the short time that we spent with them so far. They’ve been just great people. Aside from just, you know, visionary minds. They’re they’re just really really good people and like it goes a long way when you can go out to dinner and have drinks and like and share laughs with the people that you’re going to be kind of partnering with and and and and doing this whole thing together with for a couple years hopefully for you know decades at this point. Um, it it’s great when the personalities match and that’s what I noticed like the first night we went to a big Italian dinner in Denver and we like we we just hit it off and we’re like this is going to be fun and they get it and and we kind of get what they’re trying to do and they do want me in shorts soon which is something that they’re going to have to come to grips with or I’m going to have to really get you know on this side a lot of people on both sides of the partnership are are gearing up for Frankie and Shorts. I definitely have set myself up for failure because like when I wear shorts around the house like everyone’s like those like yeah you’re skinny but like you just have like that’s just like what a skinny person looks like. Like we’re all like or you set yourself up for success where like you’re you’re lowering the bar. It’s like a going to a presidential debate. Yeah. But I think like I’ve drawn too much attention to them. Well where now like everything about them will be nitpicked. You know what I mean? Like oh like if they if I just was the skinny guy with a gut and like a fat face that had skinny legs like that is what it is. Not not to [ __ ] on someone out of nowhere, but like Ryan Whitney’s got skinny legs and he played in the NHL. I mean, have you ever seen some of the pictures of him in shorts? It’s unbelievable. So, like, but people put like the chicken legs next to him when they did when they do the videos. Like, it it is what it is. But, like, he just owns it. Like, that’s that just is what it is. I haven’t owned it. So, like people think I have wooden legs. It is what I’ve [ __ ] it up. I [ __ ] it up on my end. And I will be wearing shorts at some point. So, that’ll be a nice big grand reveal. Hopefully, that’s not like the only reason they partner with this. But it feels like it because it keeps coming up in every single meeting that they just want me in shorts. So, um, our guy that’s like he sniffed that out right away. You know, he’s like he that’s how he rolls. He sniffs that that’s a little bit of a sensitive spot. He loves it. He’s like, “You will be wearing shorts.” And I was like, “No, I will not be.” He’s like, “Oh, yes, he will be.” And then that was kind of the end of the conversation. Um, and yeah, I mean, Beef, our guy Beef, he was like uh he he was like the number one Adidas like seller in the whole entire country when he was working at pro shops as a as a PGA head golf professional. So, they were like over the moon that Beef is part of the uh business again. Dude, Beef, they’ve told the story a couple times, but Beef when he signed on for Barcel Sports, uh, wrote them an email and made phone calls, like emotional uh, notes to the folks from Adidas saying, “Hey guys, I love working with you so much, and I’ve enjoyed all of our time together for so long. this is really hard for me to do, but I have a life-changing opportunity to go work for Barcel Sports, and they’re not Adidas. And so, I’m really, really sorry, but I’m not going to be able to partake like I have partaken with you guys. And they all tell the story from the Adidas side of like it was heart-wrenching when Beef told us that, but we had to basically, you know, set sail, let Beef set sail and say, you know, go little birdie. Like, we love you so much, but we do believe that this is a great opportunity. Go get them beef. go get him out in the real world. And now it’s come full circle and nobody is happier than our guy Cody B. Frankie of the fact that he gets to rock Adidas again. He’s pulling all the stuff out of the closet and he’s ready to go. Yeah, it’s incredible. And and their access to the athletes that we’re going to have is is second to none. Like I said, it’s not just golf, which was huge for us. It’s it’s every sport. And we’re going to have a lot of opportunities kind of presented to us that we wouldn’t um in in the past. And I think it’s going to be good for growing our brand and just honestly just moving this whole thing forward, right? You’re getting guys from all different walks of life. Um, it’s it’s really really really I mean, dude, when you go into that Adidas store that we went into, there was like a a me um it was like the uh Adidas employee store and like everything’s like 50% off over there, which is an incredible thing if you live in that Portland area. If you can get tickets into that, it’s nuts. Like everything in the store is 50% off for everyone that goes in there. It’s nuts. Um, but like you see like you got messy jerseys and then they had Formula One jerseys because like they have Formula 1 uh team and it’s like or they’re part of the Formula 1 team. It’s like there’s so much that they have that you don’t realize and there’s going to be so many things that we can be a part of that we never uh anticipated being a part of. So, it’s really really exciting. It’s a big day for us. It’s a big day for Bar Stool having those logos kind of associated one and one. So, um yeah, thank you to everyone that’s been a part of this man. Like I guess as the years go on it kind of gets a little bit less meaningful but like we you know it has been nine years since we’ve been working at Barcel. It kind of feels like a dream for almost a decade but like I was making pizzas you know like that’s like there was no path to ever doing something like this. It’s just kind of popped up and you kind of just ran with it. And same with rigs and same with Trent. Like you just it just came out of nowhere and we just went with it. And like we didn’t know where it was going to go. And now it’s gotten to the point where we’re going to headquarters of some of the biggest companies in the world and they’ve got our pictures hanging up and it’s like the whole thing is uh it’s a whirlwind, man. And it’s all because people keep supporting it and they keep showing up and they keep coming to the shows and they keep uh listening to the show and and and coming to the Barcelo Classics and watching all the videos and yeah, we get to just live a dream and and it doesn’t uh you know, it doesn’t feel real. That’s for sure. And I’m very very thankful. Very very thankful to everyone. Me too. and the the Adidas, dude, it’s like um from an athletic standpoint, it’s like inspired me. It’s like I’m ordering I’m looking now and I’m ordering like running shoes and gym clothes and stuff. And I’m like, “Yeah, dude. Like now that I’m I’m Adidas guy, like I I want to rep the three stripes and go into the gym and and skate more and get all the my under gear for when I’m skating to be Adidas cuz it’s sick.” And they sent Dude, they sent me a I know you’ve got the same one. They sent me a a golf bag, Adidas golf bag. And the amount of compliments I’ve gotten on that golf bag are insane. Every person that sees it is like they pull my they move my little towel out of the way and they’re like, “Now, what is this?” And it’s just those clean three stripes Adidas logo on a golf bag. It’s on like it’s on the main like big pocket side and then it’s on the strap. It’s like a single strap um like leather bag and it’s just we’ve got this like mustard yellow with just the the black Adidas three stripes on there and it just looks so clean that you’re like that right there is iconic and so yeah big thanks to everybody who supported along the way and and we’re going to be we’re Adidas guys now so you might you know you might see a little different style changes from the fellas at times and uh and yeah it’s just very very exciting. So, um, so huge, huge news. Iconic brand coming together and, uh, and it’s been kind of a a long time in the making. We’ve been working on how to get the news out there. They’re going to be all around the the Bartool Classic. Obviously, they’re going to be involved in be involved in all of uh, our content and everything that we, you know, shoot and do. And, uh, and we’re going to be, you know, one and the same. We’re we’re coming together with Adidas. So, very cool for us. We’re working up something really cool for waste management. um kind of a a little collaborated shoe that’s been in the works for like even before this collaboration started. We were always going to do this Adidas shoe um for the last like year or so. I know our team’s been working on it. So, that’s something to look forward to as well. Like there’s a lot of customization that we can do and and yeah, I mean I’m looking up like I’ve got a Duchine jersey that’s that he sent to me that’s signed a national priorities one in my office. It’s Adidas. I know they’re not with the NHL anymore, but like you know Miami University Adidas and like NFL teams uh all the players Adidas. It’s like it’s it’s crazy. And when you look around now that we’ve partnered with them and you see just that logo, how everywhere it’s amazing. It honestly is. And you know, we’re not going to do a whole podcast talking about how popular Adidas is. Everyone kind of knows it. It’s one of those global brands, but it is. It’s like when you buy a car and then you see that car all like every day for the rest of your life and you never notice it prior. Like it’s I can’t stop seeing the three stripes. I’m same way. I notice it with college football. like you notice which schools are Adidas schools and which schools aren’t and like I’m like instantly rooting for the schools that are Adidas schools like you see it on their uniforms and stuff and it is just all over the place. So, I was doing a good amount of research too on like the history and the brand battles between obviously like Adidas and their obvious competitors over the years and just the different like es and flows and different athletes and different sports that they got into and were able to sign and then falling behind and then how they, you know, are able to get back up on top and is it cultural? Is it going with basketball or football or golf or like what is it? which direction are they going and and what’s worked and like what hasn’t over the years and yet remaining throughout all that time as you know one of the biggest again sports wear shoe companies like every person on earth wears shoes. you have to wear shoes. And so imagine to be, you know, the most or one of the most iconic like shoe makers and brands ever to exist in something that every person on earth has to wear is just like wait what that’s just synonymous with basically clothing which everybody has to wear with shoes with everything and that’s what Adidas is. So yeah very very cool for us and a huge huge thank you to everybody um who supported us along the way gotten us to this point. [Music] This episode is brought to you by Brex. That is B R X. Brex has just become a huge part of my life ever since uh they jumped on with Barcel Sports because we use them as our expense system. And I it’s so easy and I I I want people to know that like I’ll I the way I do it now pretty much is when I get an Uber, if I’m on a work trip or or whatever, if I’m out to dinner, as I’m leaving or as I’m in the Uber or whatever, I am uploading my receipt and I’m putting it into the system and it takes two seconds and I’m getting that money back. I’m making money thanks to Brex. So if you are the head of whoever does that at your company and does expenses and like has to implement a new system, Brex is the one. It is. The app is so easy. Take your shot at the green uh the kind with dollar signs. Whether you’re a diehard golf fan or just in it for the Sunday drama, DraftKings has everything you need to make every round a little bit more exciting. We got live bets, prop plays, odds boost, and plenty more. I talk about it on the show, but big shout out to Scotty. I was able to get a little bit on him to win on Sunday morning. He was two shots back. He of course won. We talk all about that, but DraftKing Sportsbook allowed that to happen. They also have that Ghostle Leg parlay which is on the DraftKings sports book which yesterday I did a six team parlay and I went five for six and realized I did not add the ghost leg token to it when I did check out which is something you got to opt in. You got to add that token on the top when you are checking out. You got to hit the button on top. So I had saw that I bet the uh Cowboys minus four and a half against the Giants. They end up winning by three, but I’m like, “No sweat. They’re going to take that.” DraftKings takes that away. Basically eliminates it and makes it a five team parlay and you went five for five. They just readjust the odds after that and pay you out in cash. Nope. I went five for six loser. Which is fine because that’s on me. But like that’s how good that app is is that they have something like that that like is present for you to even make a mistake like I did. You know what I mean? Like you shouldn’t we should even have that opportunity to go from a 16 parlay to a five team parlay. The fact that that’s even offered is insane. So correct. That right there is a cautionary tale and you got to opt in for the ghost leg parlay because it is amazing. Yeah, it really is. Uh now here’s also something phenomenal. It’s uh it’s for new customers. So listen up. If you bet $5 and your bet wins, you’ll score $200 in bonus bets instantly. So take your swing at winning some dough this week. Download the DraftKings Sportsbook app. Uh use the code four fo. That’s code four for new customers to get $200 in bonus bets instantly when you bet just five bucks only on DraftKings. The crown is yours. [Music] All right, the Procore Championship out in Napa. Scotty Sheoffller wins yet again. Finally. I was actually on the right side of something. I woke up on Sunday morning, DraftKings Sportsbook, great partner, # ad. I saw Scotty was two strokes back. He was like plus 150 I think to win. So threw some money on him. He wins but boy it was um it was a hell of a finish out there. Great great showing from the United States Rder Cup team which we absolutely love to see. Um I was very much laughing at um Otto Griffin who afterwards you know he had um what he went back to Q school I think last year finished low medalist. So like one of those guys that’s just fighting to keep his tour card, get his tour card, get the highest status he could possibly get. And afterwards when they were asked some of his thoughts, he finished, you know, what third I think or so he finished as he was just like, “Yeah, just like wish Scotty Shuffler wasn’t playing this week, you know, and it’s like that’s just the best way to he’s like if there wasn’t a Ryder Cup in two weeks.” Like there’s just no way Scotty Sheffler would have been here or probably Ben Griffin, so I would have just won this event. So it’s kind of [ __ ] those guys showed up, but they did. and uh and Scotty with just a pretty kind of clinical um finish down the stretch. Couple mistakes from Ben Griffin. Um you had Kovven the amateur who’s in the mix which is always very very fun to watch but pretty damn good little tournament for kind of a bonus event in Napa that maybe wouldn’t have the the clout the coverage that it usually gets and you know despite all that it really didn’t matter because Scotty Shafor just showed up. Nothing changes. I was thinking, it’s funny, this country, the US of A is fully locked into football, right? Like the NFL has now started and that’s what everybody’s watching. It’s Sunday, everybody’s watching the noon games, everybody’s watching later games, whatever’s going on. And then just on their timelines, Scotty Sheffller won another golf tournament. They’re like, “Oh, okay. I guess, you know, I didn’t watch that tournament, but you know, I’m sure it’s the same result that we’ve had all year. This was his sixth win of the year, if I’m not mistaken. Like, this guy just wins golf tournaments.” And Ben Griffin was right up there. That’s what Ben Griffin’s been doing all year. He’s just been in the mix. He got a win. Like, but he’s It’s been Ben Griffin, weirdly, and Scotty Sheffler all year. And Scotty Sheffller usually gets the win. That putt that um that Ben Griffin had to hit uh to tie it, that was that was tough. That was like I I don’t blame him for missing it. I’ve missed a million of those, but it was just like [ __ ] if he’s he probably wants He definitely wants that one back. No, that sucked. That was shocking, too, because he’s I agree. you know, they were kind of talking the whole um broadcast about how he’s felt like he’s very confident and he’s ready for these moments and he looks good and he and he was I mean, he’s he was leading the damn tournament. He’s going up against Scotty and and then for him to three putt that after two great swings in there and all that was very surprising, missing that five-footer or whatever it was. But again, I don’t blame him at all like you said. And if you go back to last year alone, like Scotty missed a putt of the same length to get into a playoff against the Jagermeister, I believe it was down in Texas. down in Texas. Yeah. So, it’s like anybody can kind of miss those types of putts. So, that but that was a bummer. It just felt like it was heading towards the playoff and then it didn’t. But, as a guy that was on the Scotty side of the DraftKings sports book, I wasn’t the most upset guy in the world when that missed. But, um but yeah, Scotty’s just automatic. It feels like dude, I remember in like when I was maybe 2000 and 2001, I was 13, 14 years old. I was hockey guy, a little golf, but like not into golf yet. It was maybe when I was 16 years old when we got crazy into golf and I remember watching like Sports Center in those years and it was exactly what you would just say where they would go through a little bit of the highlights and then they would just do like a 30 second cut to like an update on golf and they would just show Tiger walking down the 18th fairway celebrating another victory with all the fans walking behind him and he’s just kind of waving and you’re like oh yeah and then Tiger like won another tournament here. That’s kind of what it feels like with Scotty. So, he’s just playing like I’m we got to be really happy that the next event is the one in Beth Page. Like he he’s just still Scotty Sheffller and I’m I’m really just rooting and hoping and praying and keeping my fingers crossed for an all-time Ryder Cup performance from Scotty Sheffler. Yeah, I mean I think it’s easy to or it’s uh you know, I think it’s warranted to expect him to be the best player out there. He’s obviously proving it. six wins, consecutive years, the whole deal. He’s just been so consistent. Him to throw a dud out on any golf course in any event would be shocking at this point. Um I I I think also Rory just won an event that he played leading up to it. So like you got Scotty winning, you’ve got Rory winning, you’ve got Ben Griffin playing well. I’m sure other guys played well in the Irish with Rory that I’m I’m forgetting about, but like you know, you got guys playing really well going into this RDER Cup. This is everything you could ask for. I mean, it’s it’s guys at the top of their game. It’s huge names. It’s non-tiger Woods names and it’s still like feels like the biggest thing of all time. Very very exciting. It’s uh it’s like you just don’t want people you don’t want it to like them to limp into this or like you don’t want to not see them playing leading up, which is obviously what the US did in Rome. But you got guys securing victories leading into it and that is the most important thing for just like the hype train and everything like let’s go best playing the best. It’s how you want it. Absolutely. And I think I believe it was the stat was all 10 US RDER Cup you know players made the cut. Um Scotty Chefer first, Ben Griffin uh second, JJ Spawn sixth, Cam Young tied for ninth. Um, so we just like Sam Burns right there, he finished with a dunk. Eagle, he finished tied for 13th. Actually saw Max Home played well, but Russell Henley tied for 19th. Like we just had a lot of guys playing really solid golf from Team USA. And then like you said, Frankie, I’m looking at the the uh European Rder Cup team. They were playing over um in the Irish Open. Then they’re all at that BMW. Now they’re all like it looks like on a charter plane together and they’re all doing again the hug with the neck necking thing going on like getting on a plane together and do a dinner and heading over to do a practice round and uh you know I saw that they’re all posting like Beth Paige Bound and they’ve got the Ryder Cup on the plane with them. So, it is like everything’s it’s almost like we’re watching a really well produced TV show or movie where they do like two different storylines that are going together that are all clearly going to meet is kind of how it feels right now. And it’s nice that both of those story lines are positive and good. And it’s sort of a sort of a testament to Keegan making the decision that he made that like none of that has been the talk since the second that he said Sam Burns and not himself. Like none of that has really been the conversation. The conversation has now been these dueling like storylines heading for a climax at Beth Page and everybody’s just pretty goddamn hyped up about it. That is true. That is a I guess it’s a nice thing that it’s not not that it would be a cloud hanging over, but it would certainly be a talking point of Keegan being a playing captain. That would pretty much be the only thing people talked about. So it is I mean we are all kind of on the side of like we’re fine if he picks himself but um now that he hasn’t it has been nice just to focus on the guys who are playing who are playing well who are winning tournaments and we don’t have to just keep talking about like holy [ __ ] if Keegan doesn’t play well as the playing captain. This could get ugly pretty quickly. So that I hadn’t thought about that but that is a nice little thing that we don’t have to cover. Well once Sam Burns plays you’re going to hear it again. That’s a fact. Right. Yeah, I’m saying the leadup that having a leadup that doesn’t have that is nice because that would be the Keegan the Keegan playing talk has simmered, but it will rev up greatly once. Yeah, it’ll either end up being a really good thing. I mean, but it won’t be near even if Sam Burns doesn’t play that well, which I think he’s going to, it still wouldn’t be as intense as if Keegan were out there not playing well. Oh. Oh, for sure. For sure. For sure. Yeah. Yeah. I That’s 100% true. But but yeah, no, it feels um yeah, it’s almost like a little bit quiet. Not quiet, it’s like we’re kind of ready now and we’ve been ready and we’ve been talking about that on the podcast for a couple weeks that like okay, now let’s really get this thing here. We are in the like if you if you talk about how it feels like a TV show, we are in like the montage stage or we’re just post montage where one guy’s got a a European guy’s got a trophy, Scotty’s got a trophy and we’re just sort of going back and forth. People are making putts. People are finishing well at these golf tournaments. And now we’re just at that weirdly eerily calm time where we just want balls in the air. We’ve been there for a while, but now we’re really there. Speaking of TV shows, did you guys watch the Emmys last night? No. No. Did you see anything from the Emmys? I I mean, we we’re big TV show watchers, right? We love Severance. I saw um the severance guy won best actor, right? Yes. Incredible. I saw that. That was awesome. He deserved that. It was awesome. Our guy Nate Bargetti hosted it and he did just such a fantastic job. Did he really? Yeah. He hosted the Emmys. He said it’s gonna be his last time because he’s definitely not getting invited back. Um he did a great bit where he basically I mean in the beginning he did a he did that George Washington skit but he did it for the person that invented television and it was it was very funny like just going through like what television is going to be and like the channels. He’s like, “The learn, we’re going to have a channel called the Learning Channel,” which I never knew was what TLC was, but he’s like, “We’re going to have uh it’s going to be called the Learning Channel, and they’re going to be like, “What are we going to learn on there?” He’s like, “Absolutely nothing.” He’s like, he’s like, “Well, what are they going to play on that program?” He’s like, “Dr. Pimple Popper, and you know, short people are going to marry large people.” He’s just like, “You’re not going to learn anything.” Um, that was really funny. And then his whole bit was basically like, I was put in charge to make sure you all only take 45 seconds when you thank people. So he’s like, I’m going to donate $100,000 to the Boys and and Girls Club of America. And for every second you go over 45, he’s like, and everyone’s clapping. He’s like, “It’s going to get bad now.” The way he talks, he’s like, “That’s all good. Remember that cheer because now it’s going to get weird.” cuz he’s like, “Every second you go over, we’re taking $1,000 off.” So then like pe like as people were giving their like lifelong speeches, right? Like Tamill or whatever, like Traml Traml like he was like like like the clock was like once he went over it was going from like 100,000 to like 68,000. It’s like and they actually showed the live dollars going down and it got to like7,000 towards the end and he’s like I he’s like I made money. He’s like, “You guys made me money.” Taking it away from the Boys and Girls Club. And he was so just like he was so upfront about like all the like I was watching it. I’m like, “Well, all these presenters are taking like 10 minutes and then he’s only leaving the people that won 45 seconds.” Like the per person that would like like announce what the award was was always doing some sort of bit. Sure. And it took forever, right? And he literally goes on the mic at one point. He’s like, he’s like, I’m sure some of you are thinking like, why are the people, you know, is everyone to 45 seconds? He goes, no, only the people that worked their hardest for their lifelong dream, right? Only the people that are accomplishing their lifelong goal are we’re going to have 45 seconds. That’s it. Everyone else, JB Smooth gets 10 minutes to just do a bit. You 45 seconds for winning best actor. So, it was funny, but you guys should watch some of the clips because that’s that’s our guy right there and he crushed it. Yeah, he’s the best. He’s the absolute best. Um, I do have a I have a RDER Cup bet that I placed with our good friend uh Mr. Kendrick from Good. And oh, so do I. I think the bet that I I looked into my notes the next day and saw and confirmed with him is that I have um I bet him that JJ Spawn would have a higher winning percentage in the RDER Cup this year than Ludvig Oberg. And I think I have Russell Henley over um Tierrell Hatton. Okay. The higher winning percentage. I don’t know why Kendrick from Good is like so gung-ho on team Europe, but I mean I just think Yeah. I mean I don’t know. We’ll we’ll I’ll be interested to see. Do you think that any of the pairings that they made in the event this week alludes to what they’re thinking? You know, like did were they able to pick on like who played with each other was was my kind of question. Like at one point I think Russell Henley and Scotty teed off at the same time. So like do you think that they kind of went to the tournament director and was like we want these guys to play in the same group. Yeah. I think like I think they 100% could do that cuz I think that the tournament director for that event once the Ryder Cup guys decided they were coming would would basically get down on his knees for like Captain Keegan and do whatever. And they all teed off like later in the day at the same time and like they were on the course at the same time. So, like I saw Russell Henley playing with Scotty and like you start to see different types of things like that. Um, but I mean yeah, Kendrick from Goods like I don’t know what he’s doing with TL. He’s on the Europe. You know, he’s on the Europe thing apparently. You know, you know firsthand that’s just a that’s those are murky waters, man. Not it’s not a good spot to be in. Absolutely not. It’s just not where you want to be. And I hope you literally missed the greatest win in in Ryder Cup history. Like it was it was it was a party from day one and you had it was the most lopsided like victory in the history of of the of the of the world. Wielding a sword. Dude, people forget that like uh like after that win at Whistling Straits like the the American team were legitimately like [ __ ] on rigs in person. They were like they were like you [ __ ] turn coat like looking at him like how does that feel? Like Justin Thomas was like one one player made us take it down, but it was like a pretty notable player told me to eat [ __ ] after. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Super nice player. Incredibly nice notable player told me to eat [ __ ] and then was like, “Yeah, down. Just take that down.” Justin Thomas cuz he walked by us. The press room was past us or maybe the party room, whatever it was. We were at the top of those stairs in Wisconsin. Justin Thomas was talking [ __ ] to rigs and blindly gave me a dap. That is still one of the great accomplishments in American history. Like he’s just l jarring or jawing at Rigs and he gives me a high five and it’s still I can’t believe he accomplished it. But that was a hell of a week for our for our boys. Unreal. Yeah, it was. I hope we get that again, guys. You know, it’d be really fun. Be really nice for Team USA. And um the really the only guy that could have played in the procore for TVSA that didn’t is on this show is Mr. Xander Shafley. Um so I don’t know if anybody has anything else but if not we could throw it to Xander and um you know and people can start to get really jazzed up for this Ryder Cup because there’s been plenty of talk, plenty of talking going on, hyping up. We get into all of it. Um a lot of cool announcements at Tina’s so fired up about that. So fired up. It’s Ryder Cup time. So without further ado, one of the staples of the uh American golf team events through this generation and probably for a long time to come. Uh two-time major winner just last year. Uh let’s throw it to Xander Schoffley. [Music] Golf is hard, but protein is now easy with one Hershey’s double chocolate. These things are fantastic. They’re made with 18 g of protein, only one gram of sugar to deliciously fuel your golf game. This is my go-to snack for flights, for playing golf, for everything. Now, just had one before the show. Um, I was kind of running around. I talk about, but like I was watching the baby and then we had the show and I didn’t have anything to eat, so I just had a one bar. I had the Reese’s um, peanut butter lovers one and I also had like my multivitamin with it. It just makes you feel good in the morning. Like I had I had 18 grams of protein and I had my vitamins and it put, you know, it made me feel good. Like I had something solid in my stomach to then have vitamins after that. It’s just like you need stuff like that in the morning. Sometimes things just get a little too quick. You end up having, you know, maybe you take a vitamin, you take this, you take that, and then like you’re on an empty stomach. Always have a protein bar handy, ready to go in times like that. Times of need, one is always there for you. I have them stocked in my backpack for when I fly. It’s it’s a must. There’s a couple musts for me when I travel and one of them is a one protein bar because you’ll be caught on a flight or you’ll get delayed and then you’re already boarded and you can’t eat and you just boom, there’s a one bar that’s going to hold me over. It’s going to get me to wherever I need to go. They’re great. Only one Hershey’s Double Chocolate is made with Hershey’s cocoa protein just got delicious. Buy the new one, Hershey’s Double Chocolate Protein Bar on Amazon. Again, buy them on Amazon. Protein just got delicious. We absolutely love Duncan, especially for a coffee on the way to the course or some food after a round. This This is true. This is just a fact. Ever since I showed up in Boston, Massachusetts in 2006, I have been a massive Duncan guy to the point of when I would go back home to St. Louis, there was like I think there’s more now, but there was like one Duncan 25 minutes away from my house and I would drive to that Duncan because that’s how much I rely on Dunkin Donuts. I am going to Duncan as soon as we wrap up here. this podcast. We recorded a little bit earlier than usual, so I wasn’t able to run out and get it. But I am once once I hit closeout on this browser, I am walking straight to Duncan. I cannot wait to get it. Their coffee is great. Their food is really good. They they’ve just got it all. It’s the one-stop shop for the morning and you just you you’re there and you’re ready to take on the day. I I can’t wait to get there. And you guys know I haven’t historically been the biggest coffee guy. So, I mean, I’ve tried all the different brands and stuff and I’m without a doubt, and I’m not even just saying this because they’re on like with us, but I enjoy Duncan the most, and I’m starting to really like the flavor of their coffee without needing to put anything in it. Like I’ve like we did a couple ads with them and we just had just black coffees and I was like, “Oh, I actually like like the roast taste of this.” Like just that coffee just tastes good to me. And that’s something that’s like pretty eye opening. I’ve never really had coffee growing up and I just never did it. Like you know my parents don’t really drink it that often. It’s just something like we just never really did and I just never got into it. And now it’s like I enjoy that taste and it does make you like get going. Like America runs on Duncan like it gets you going. You do need it. Like the amount we travel it is it’s a life changer. Don’t they say like society like like just started going when they figured out how to like add caffeine to their like brains and stuff like all that? It it fired off a lot of things like, “Oh, why are we doing this this way? Now we can do it this way.” I’m finally thinking. And right now, they’re serving up the ultimate $6 meal deal. A medium or uh a medium hot or iced coffee, a bacon, egg, and cheese and hash browns. Just six bucks. That’s it. It’s that simple. That’s what I’m going to go get literally right now. Don’t sleep on breakfast. Biggest deal. Swing by your local Duncan um or order ahead on the Duncan app, which is great by the way, to lock in the $6 meal deal today. And don’t forget to check out the Internet Invitational later this fall presented by Duncan. [Music] Folks, we’re uh we’re joined by Xander Schoffley. It’s been a little while. You’ve had a hell of a life, I would say, since the last time we had you on this podcast. and most recent development um is that you are a a new father. So I start with just a huge congratulations to you and your family. Thank you. Yeah, it’s been a a learning curve, but uh everyone everyone’s doing well. It’s really new, right? This is just a couple days now. We’ve we’ve managed to keep him alive for just over two weeks now. Dude, that’s a massive win. I Frankie, who’s not on this show right now, but he just had a kid a few months ago. Those first Yeah. Those first few days it is just like is the baby breathing and that we got to take this thing home from the hospital and hope everything’s going to be okay. Yeah. Yeah. People friends were telling me I’m at that age now where kind of everyone’s kind of has kids. Uh and everyone told me that you know all it felt really it felt real when you had to like strap them in and drive home. You’re like oh boy. Right. There’s like a real world out here. There’s not just a bunch of people helping us at the hospital. Yeah. Just just a nurse button. Just slam that thing. It’s a great way to put it, Tread, too. It’s like, how old’s your child? You’re like, it’s really new. Just like this super just a new thing at this point. Yep. It’s a fact. Um, is your So, there was a clip that went uh a little viral in our world over the weekend of our boss Dave meeting Frankie’s son for the first time, and his big takeaway was that Frankie’s son’s face looks more like his face than anything could possibly look. Are you starting to already see any kind of like resemblances? Uh, I think so. So, I mean, he kind of looks like a mixture of both of us, I’d say. We’ve we’ve kind of scanned our baby baby picks and he look he looks like a a mix. He’s definitely mine. That’s you know what I mean? That’s huge. That’s another big win. Yeah, I know. Killing it, Trent. Yeah. Got to have that. Just absolutely. Keep stacking these wins and let’s keep this win going for the next couple weeks. I know. I know. We’re going to get into all that, but you got a big start somewhere. That’s right. Um Yeah. Yeah, it’s funny because I know, you know, when the uh playoffs were going on and you kind of wrapped up, you had some quotes about golf and the whole year and there’s been the injury and then, you know, you were asked a lot about like, okay, what’s this? I think what’s this reset look like for you? And you were like just not golfing. And I don’t know that people really knew that a lot of that was probably coming from too. You had this huge life event coming up. So, I imagine the last month like yeah, it’s probably been nice to put the clubs away a little bit. Um, but also like in that same time you’ve been juggling what we’ve just been talking about. So, how has sort of the last little bit of a of a break from golf, but probably the opposite of a break from real life? Like, how has that mixture gone? Yeah, it was. Yeah, I think I may have been more stressed than I was maybe thinking I was. You know, everyone on my team knew obviously that was having a kid. I just I didn’t feel the need to really share it. I wasn’t playing very good golf and I didn’t want to like dump my bad golf on this kid, you know what I mean? So, I just kind of I just I kind of just kept the whole thing to myself and and and and my family, my team. And so, I uh you know, once I was out once I was out at BMW, I was very excited to sort of just, you know, one start this new chapter, but two, just kind of just have the time. you know, we we we’re definitely pressed on time and you know, everyone everyone that works knows that and and for me it kind of hit a nice little window. You know, I told my wife there’s no no better time for me to play bad than right now because I’m going to be home. I’m not going to miss the birth of our first kid. I’m going to be home. You know, I can help as much as I can. I don’t need to sleep. Like, who needs to sleep anyways? Uh but, you know, she she’s been letting me sleep a little bit more these last, you know, three, four, five days, trying to start practicing a lot more, which has been very kind. But, uh, the adjustment’s been great. You know, I think, uh, one, the offseason definitely helps. And then we’ve had, you know, family, whether it’s, you know, my mom or or her mom come and help us, um, and try to acclimate to this this new situation we got on our hands. Yeah. I mean, it takes a village. So that’s like, you know, myself and Trent, we don’t we don’t have kids, but it is amazing when I when I get home, I got a nephew and niece, and I always go home, I stay with my brother and his wife, and like you do realize that even just for them maybe once a month or whatever it is for like the grandparents to kick in and watch the kids for a night is like it’s go time. We’re going to go to a dinner. We’re just going to get out of this house and and do it. So you realize it takes a lot of people for Yeah, absolutely. I mean, we got two dogs as well, so we we felt like that was like our our preparation, you know, that’s how I knew my my wife was going to be a good mom, just the way she takes care of the dogs. So, um, but now, you know, I have a little baby step. I have to take care of the dogs now. So, I’m learning what that, you know, you got to graduate to taking care of the baby. You start with the dogs and then they’ll let you take care of the baby. Yeah. Started started with myself, failed, now, you know, every day I’m I’m grinding with the dogs. Same. Make sure you keep those things alive. then you can keep a human alive. That’s a good that’s a hell of a start. Um, no, I like that. Like, you know, I think uh in terms of the end of the year being like, “No, I’m going to make sure I’m home.” It’s like you could go the Phil Mickelson route, which is like, “Hey, I’m maybe going to win this like US Open and have to have a pager.” You’re like, “No, no, no. I’m just going to I’m going to come my ass home a little bit early and just kind of hang out and be ready to go.” Yeah. The Austin and I kept joking. Uh, you know, I was like trying to play a little bit better and I was like, if I get to East Lake, his, you know, the the due date was was the Sunday of East Lake. And he looked at me and he goes, “You’re not leaving this property.” Who had that decision a couple years ago? Was it Was it Ro? Was it Rahm at the Masters? Somebody had that situation recently where it was like It might have been Scotty. Oh, it might have been Scotty. It was Sam Sam Burns. I think Rahm had had a little had a little pickle as well. all those those three guys I think come come to front of mind that kind of had that pickle and there’s there’s a bunch of others that you know have have been in a mix where they’re like dude that’s a big decision to make because either like if you have the lead on Sunday and the pager goes off you got a big decision to make I think most guys probably run off the property but there are people out there who would be like you want that green jacket like I think it’s pretty important too so that’s an interesting pickle to be in yeah my my mother-in-law was like you’re you’re she’s like you’re staying out here. I I thought the opposite. I love that. I love that mentality, too. Yeah. Yeah. I was I was cracking up, too. I was just It’s I was kind of looking at my wife and and her and I was like, “Okay.” It’s funny cuz we’ve talked about this a million times and we like I’ve been like I’m staying. I mean, I don’t if there’s a chance that I’m like, you’re telling me I’m I’m maybe going to win the Masters. First of all, how did this happen? But second of all, it’s like I get that someone like you, maybe you’d be like, I can leave because like I’m going to win multiple majors or at least I’m going to have a chance. That’s fine. I’d be like, dude, this is insane the fact that I I hear you. I hear you. I tried to definitely plan it as much as possible. I we, you know, we try to you can’t really plan having a kid. So many things need to go well, you know, and like you hear of people struggling to have a kid. It’s easy for some people. You just don’t know where you’re going to fall in that sort of card. So, I definitely was like trying to like stall as long as possible to try and have them like one day off, man. Yeah, I know. I know. Pretty good planning really. You’re so close. Shooters got to shoot. So, you know, uh Well, congratulations. Congratulations. Um what a return now back into like your day job. This is this is going to be I want to talk about you had a great quote towards the end of the year that I love. of it reminded me a lot of like what Max Homo has been saying over the last year or so. Um, but you essentially said there’s nothing worse than trying your hardest and playing like ass. It’s the worst combo. And I think that that speaks to the guys in this podcast dramatically because we sort of have a brand where we suck at golf and people are like, “No, no, you get to do this all the time. You guys like play for a living. You film golf videos for a living.” And it’s like, “No, no, I’m trying so hard. I don’t I want you to realize how frustrating it is. I’m trying really hard to play better than this.” and I just can’t do it. So, I love that quote and I just thought that was such a like honest uh reaction to what golf can be like sometimes. Yeah, it was it was pretty raw. You know, they they definitely I wasn’t expecting to do media. You you rarely do you expect to do media when you come in 40th. So, they kind of they pulled me off the course and I was like, “All right, I get I mean, I guess there’s, you know, so many stories up ahead.” I guess they’re just trying to fill air or fill time out. Who knows? But yeah. Um, yeah, it was it was it was as honest of a feeling. You know, I’ve had the the the highest of my highs, you know, the year prior and then I got hurt and and came back and like like you guys said, you try so hard and you get so used to at least I did, not maybe not you guys, but I got so used to playing good golf and n haven’t hit that part yet. We’re still trying. Honestly, honestly, it’s it’s worse though. If I if if I gave you a little lick, it’d be significantly worse cuz then you’d be like, “Oh, I can do this.” And then you you you can’t. And then you’re like, “Oh, wow. This is really this is even worse than I thought I was.” Dude, I actually agree with that. When I So, I’ve been doing the breaking 100, breaking 90, breaking 85 series, and before I started doing that, I was just a bad golfer. And I knew that, and that’s just sort of what my body knew and my brain knew. So, every time I went out and I hit a bad shot, I was like, “You’re a bad golfer. That makes sense.” But then when you start to play better and you start to practice and you start to shoot like high 80s, you know, for a guy like me, that’s good golf. And you get a taste of it. And then you go out two weeks later and you shoot a 95 or 90 or 105 and you’re like, “Oh, actually having the taste of good golf and then reverting back to the bad golf is a worse feeling than just being a bad golf bad golfer all the time.” Yeah. You just don’t You don’t know what you don’t know. That’s It really is. That’s right. Yep. So that that that yeah it you know so that was my take. Obviously you know I wouldn’t wouldn’t not want to have 2024 happen. So just you know sometimes you just got to wear it. I’m always curious how conscious are you of when something’s going wrong with let’s say you know you you’re you got like a seven iron into a green take your swing. You think you got a plan or what it’s going to do doesn’t do that. It’s a bad result. How aware are you instantly of like how that happened and why that happened versus how often are you out there kind of confused thinking like pretty sure I put a good swing on that? And the reason I asked that is because our awareness level of that is like close to the number zero I would say where it’s like I the amount of times I swing and I’m like that was pretty much my good swing and you look up you’re like where is it? It’s just not what you were expecting is very high. I can’t. Yeah, we’re we’re on we’re on different pages there. Rarely do I I make a pass and go, you know, in my mind I’m like, that felt good and then you look up and it’s like quacking off the planet. That I don’t know if that’s ever happened to be completely honest. See, that’s like that’s something we fight. It is very frustrating. We’re going to find some common ground here though. Yeah. Well, honestly, that could be that could be worse than what we just alluded to prior to this. I agree. I bad feeling, man. Boy, is that that’s bad. Yeah. At that field, you’re like, “That felt great.” And they’re like, “No, it was that was horrible, dude. That was terrible.” Yeah. If you had to play golf in the dark, you guys would just shoot even higher. Maybe better. Maybe. So, the the injury, obviously, you had the injury, the whole deal. You still had, I think, three of of the four majors. You finished inside the top 12 or so, so it wasn’t like there weren’t some positives. The Open Championship, I think we were around T7 or something like that. So, there were some positives. Um, you know, coming off of the the break and whatnot from golf going into the RDER Cup, do you feel that way too? Like, okay, I know last year obviously was like the best as good as the best year that you’ve had. You’re breaking through. You’re winning majors. Um, this year again wasn’t as high, but do you feel like there’s some positives momentum that you could take coming off the break going into this RDER Cup and feeling pretty good? Yeah, my last round that I played at BMW, I mean, I minus minus the putting. I mean, I I hit it like the best. It was this irony, you know, maybe, you know, it’s so mental just I was able to I I hit more balls than I’ve hit a tournament in a long time and it finally on Sunday kind of clicked and kind of had an old feel that I played with the year before and I was like, of course, my season’s over, you know, in amazing fashion. Like, let me play another five tournament rounds right now. You know, maybe I can do something. But that was that was kind of a nice healthy way to enter a a break. And then I took about 3 weeks off. Um and then when I came back it was, you know, my clubs felt like sledgehammers and you know, just just the same old the same old pass as everyone else. And Yeah. Yeah. And uh yeah, it was it was good. You know, I I thinned a shot. I I chunked one and I actually felt pretty good. Like I felt like I was mentally in a good place. I was able to accept what was happening versus, you know, 3 weeks prior to that in season, I would have absolutely exploded internally. You know, you I wouldn’t show it, but you know, the fire was burning in in in poor ways uh this this year. I like, you know, from trying hard, from playing bad, from all these things, trying to trying to handle certain things that are that are new to me. So, um I feel actually pretty good. You know, mentally it was nice. I think if I’m ever in a bad spot again, I’m one to sort of lean in more than back off. And maybe from this moment, if I am feeling like I’m in a bad spot, I might take 5 days off versus spend an extra 5 hours that day on the range or something like that. So, we’ll see. Haven’t really figured that one out yet. You said um that you feel it in the inside, the anger. Have you ever been a guy throughout your career or throughout your life on the golf course where it actually does come out? Because I was just trying to think, I don’t remember really any time where you lose your mind on the golf course. And we’ve seen guys who, you know, normally are very calm and collected. Scotty’s a good example where he’s normally very collected, very together, but every once in a while he’ll hit a shot where he will look up and be like, “That’s not doing what I thought it was going to do.” And he kind of he doesn’t go crazy, but he definitely gets angry. You are maybe the only guy on tour who kind of keeps it all in. Have you ever been the guy who lets it out? Um, when I compete, when I was I was kind of like an angry kid. So, my dad, you know, my dad worked a lot with me mentally. He was my swim coach forever. So, we just we c we came to this place to where for me to compete, it it’s whenever I would get angry, I would like lose my like completely lose my head. You know, when you look at guys like Scotty or Rom, they get kind of fussy or angry and then they they hold their next shot. You know what I mean? I’m not I’m not that guy. I am spiral sp I am you. You can’t bring it back. Yeah. If you see Xander If you see Xander like emotion you haven’t seen, you hammer the live batting on him just going over 80s, you know? I mean, you know, hey, hey, I’m a father now. Well, I have to be a good role model. Um, that hasn’t clicked in yet. This kid. So, how do you how do you keep it? No. No clue. He’s got a He got a couple years. So, how have you how what did you guys work on to make it so you don’t spiral? It it was more so of as a conscious when I’m in like tournament mode, when I’m trying to compete at a high level, I just have to stay pretty even keel. Like I’m I’m basically I feel not like a robot but like I’m at work and at work like I’m I’m pretty ho like I I if I hit a good shot doesn’t really matter. If I hit a bad shot it doesn’t matter because at the end of the day it doesn’t it doesn’t really matter. So in my mind I’m like I practice really hard to do certain things really well and as long as I can you know attack those shots correctly or with a clear head, I will I’m more likely to hit the correct shot. And then if I don’t, then I I go back to the drawing board and I start over. And I think that the the more I can do that, the better. Like this year, for example, I felt so unsettled. I felt like I never all the stuff I was working on with with Chris and and uh with my putting, I I never let anything settle. I basically I kept changing stuff like with my feels. I kept like I was like a like a an addict trying to find the right fix every week, every hole. I bet your team loved that. team loves that. They’re probably really pumped about that. Yes. Coming from me, too. I don’t like to change things. I like to be pretty even keel. So, you know, this is like the opposite. This is my internal spiral that I had this year. I didn’t really show it cuz I was like, I’m okay. You know, I’m okay. You know, I’m okay. I’m okay. You’re right. End up in the nutouse doing that. Yeah. That’s how it felt. So, I think that’s kind of what I was alluding to as well when I was like, I needed I need a I needed a mental break to not thinking anything. So this kid kind of came at an incredible time where I haven’t even worried about golf because I’m like that really didn’t matter for for for a bit. And obviously now I’m you know stressing I need to get ready for the RDER Cup and you know I want to I want to play well play well for these boys and and for the USA. They got a little bit more oomph in them, you know, and they get the people going and it’s it’s just a really good time. So, if you haven’t tried them, give them a shot. The flavors are delicious. We’re big lemonade guys on this podcast and the fact that Trulon really has a bunch of lemonade flavors is just a big win for everybody. We just did a fun fourman scramble out in Dallas. Uh you’ll see that in the upcoming weeks. We did against the Dallas Stars. some big names out there that play for the Stars. Real real real for uh real just serious team. Real serious squad hockey hockey team. But we absolutely crushed Truly Unrulies as we were doing the whole bit. We were shotgunning the whole entire thing. Real fun, lot of fun with them. Uh made it for an interesting next day definitely. And then with all the stuff that I talk about with meeting Dave and holding the baby, that was all the next day, which was it was a lot to handle. But um but trulies are great and they’re flowing. I I just posted a video uh doing a 9 and9 and I cracked open a nice truly. Something about that, you know, you crack open something like that on a golf course. You hear that crisp crack, especially now that the weather’s changing. You guys are both in New York right now. It’s perfect weather to just crack open an can of liquid. And for me, that’s truly unruly. It’s the official hard selter of foreplay. Level up your lemonade with truly unruly. Find truly unruly eliminated at a store near you or visit www.trulyhardseltzer.com. [Music] You’ve had some very incredible performances under pressure um throughout your career, but also last year the you know the the birdie on the 72nd hole of the PGA that round uh at the open was off the charts. Does part of you going into the RDER Cup even can you almost feel like no matter what you can rely on the fact that like there’s just a huge element of the RDER Cup that is being able to handle the moment, handle the adrenaline and just know that you’ve been able to channel that into good golf before and that you’ll probably just be able to figure it out. Yeah, I think so. There there there is a part of that when you look at, you know, someone like Tiger who obviously had way less reps than he used to when he was younger, really relied heavily on experience and certain things when he won the M I mean the him winning the Masters there and and was 18 19 19 he won the tour championship in 18. So like him kind of getting back on that run was was you know not that I can even relate to any of that but just like a little bit like I’ve played really good golf. I know what’s in there. I know I’ve done it. So, just knowing that it can be done. Um even even after injury and things like that, it’s like, you know, just got to got to believe a little bit. I got I got to tell myself I’m I’m great again versus picking myself apart when I’m playing golf. Yeah. I again, that’s something I think a lot of us can relate to, especially you’re saying earlier like I’m okay. I’m okay. I’m okay. Like that’s what every round mentally for us is like in our whole life. Like no, no, it’s fine guys. It’s fine. like no you’re like nine over through five holes. It’s not fine at all. It’s horrible. We history we’ve had guys on the We’ve had a lot of guys on the show who you know have won majors. You’ve won two majors. Like they’ve been in the in situations in golf that are incredibly intense and they will still say that the Rder Cup is a different one. The the way it feels is different. It almost feels a little bit bigger than even majors, which is crazy to say, but there’s it’s such a pressure cooker. Do you subscribe to that line of thinking? You’ve played in a couple RDER Cups. Are they as intense, if not more so, than the big tournaments? I I think that’s a a very fair statement. And and if you really sit back and think t take in what’s kind of happening, they just have to be. I mean, you kind of you tie in other sports to our sport and we don’t get any practice when it comes to this. The feeling for sure. I I would 100% agree. Like I said, you just you’re tying in other sports. I mean, Beth Paige is going to be insane. and we’re going to have what 30 40 50,000 people in the first hole yelling at you. That doesn’t h that doesn’t happen at a major. You make a birdie at a major, people yell for you. Like no one yells at you just unsolicited. Um yeah, and they’re going to be yelling for us and it’s still going to it’s going to it’s going to pump you up to a to a place that you’re not used to like hitting a golf shot at, you know. Um, so and then when it comes to, you know, I had in Rome, it was my first time in these team events where I was in the spot, you know, Pat was playing really well. I was in this spot to like make a few putts that were so important for our team and I missed them. And I’ve never felt so like upset. So I was I was pissed. Like this is like it’s been a while since I’ve already hit something. And I I was like gosh I you know I remember why I don’t play team sports because usually you know if you if you’re great it’s on you. If you suck it’s on you. But now you’re letting down guys that are like out there bleeding for you. You’re, you know, your captain’s out, your captains, everyone, everyone’s out there bleeding for you, you know, and you’re just letting them down. So, I I’d say the emotions run significantly higher at a Ryder Cup than than even a major, which is which is crazy to say. It is such an interesting look into like the human mindset and psyche, how much more we put on stuff when we don’t want to let other people down, you know? And like you kind of said it earlier, it’s like that golf is such an individual sport for you guys now. You’re 31 years old. You’ve been doing this for 20 something years at like playing highlevel golf matter what age you were and then getting to the highest level, but it’s always been individualistic. It’s always been like you just said, like you’re sort of the CEO of your own business and your team and like yeah, you can let them down, but the end of the day it’s like the actual result once you’re out there is 100% up to you. And then all of a sudden it’s like not. And then all of a sudden you realize that not only is it not 100% up to you, but like when it is 100% up to you and you don’t do it right, you’re letting down teammate, you’re letting down captains, you you feel like you’re letting down the country, all of that. Like I that type of pressure cooker for people that also just aren’t used to that. I think has to lead to why the emotions get so crazy in the RDER Cup that I mean Trent has predicted a shove this year at the 2025 Ryder. I do think somebody’s getting shoved. I’m not wishing it. I but I think I just think it’s going to be so intense in New York and it and part of that is that it’s podcast like us. It’s everybody is building it up so much that people are going to go into it being like this has to be the craziest sporting event of all time. And I think, you know, maybe a player shoves a person or a fan a fan shoves a I don’t want it to happen. I I really don’t. But I do. It’s going to be it’s going to be nuts. Like do you guys talk about that? Has that been part of the leadup of of anything that Captain Keegan has said? like it’s going to be you guys had played in Ryder Cups and they are super intense, but has there any been been anything in particular about this one where the guys are like this one’s going to be super [ __ ] intense? Yeah, there’s definitely been been conversation. I mean, it’s hard to, you know, uh yeah, I read the Europeans are like wearing VR sets. I just read that article yesterday. It came up on my phone and I’m like, you know, it’s interesting. Um but yeah, I mean we’ve other than stressing how much like how how crazy it’s going to be. I mean, I’ve played in two and I’m not going to I don’t even know how I’m going to prepare myself. Maybe I got to sit in a dark room or or or go go to a dark place, but like that first T-shot, you know what I mean? Like, yeah, how do you prepare? You know, president might be there, like h how do you how do you how do you how do you how do you properly prepare for that? So, Keegan’s definitely been addressing it. Um, but I think as as we I think when we get there on site, it’ll really it’ll be easier to address. Um, I think Monday there are no fans. Um, and you know, we’re going to get in a little bit early. So, I think once we step on property, it’s sort of going to be our, you know, our ritual to get out there and get get the vibes going, get the feels going. Um, and then sort sort of sort of set yourself up from there. It’s interesting like you’re such a, you know, you’re you come off as a relatively offthegrid kind of guy and even great example of you just having a child. I feel like that surprised a lot of people. I’m like, “Oh, I didn’t even know that was kind of coming.” For something like the RDER Cup, are you able to kind of like avoid the hype and the talk and the chatter about who should be picked and what’s the environment going to be like and who’s going to be there or is even someone like you, is it impossible to avoid all of the hype, all of the noise, all of the chatter going into this thing? Um, a little bit. Like I think h having a kid, you know, the only articles I can see are on my phone. if if if I do see him at all. Um so, you know, if I’m tired, I’m not on my when I’m home, I try not to be on my phone too much anyways. Um so, yeah, I I haven’t had social media since I got rid of it. I conscious like I got rid of it. 2020, Masters, I think. I just dumped everything off my phone. Uh I just felt like it was it was too much. Sounds awesome. Yeah. You know, you got I mean, you know, Yeah. It’s it’s, you know, it’s such a it’s such a tool to to make money. And to me, I’m like, you know, could I make more money doing it? Probably. But, you know, playing playing well and and and being, you know, with the with the people I’ve known forever is what’s important to me. So, I was like, I don’t see how, you know, me posting about anything is going to make me happier. So, I just dumped it and I was like, screw this. You know what I mean? And I I’ll keep in touch with whoever I need to keep in touch with. And and that was kind of that. And it’s been, you know, 5 years and maybe I’ve pissed some people off by not staying in touch, but I I’m self I’m a selfish guy. You know what I mean? Like I got to do me for sure. Did you find yourself checking it and seeing negative comments and stuff like that, or was it just like you didn’t want to post anymore? Yeah. No, it was I never really wanted to post anyways, but I would I would I would catch myself doing the whole like doomsday scrolling where you just sit there like, you know, when I was on Cornfairy and you know, I play a bad round or you miss a cut. You wake up the next day and you’re just sitting there like looking at your phone for 3 hours and you’re just like dead in bed and I’m like I this is just bad. This is bad. You know what I mean? Like this is not good for me. So I just had to consciously, you know, I talked to everyone on my team and they’re like this is, you know, we think this is a great idea. So, um, you know, part it’s part of our generation and it’s, you know, it’s part of it’s part of what we got to deal with every day. Yeah. You’re like again sort of describing like you eliminated your part of your life that is like our entire life is essentially like you’re like, “Oh yeah, I’m sure you can make extra money.” You guys are crushing it. People people out there, they need you. They need you guys’ commentary and videos. It’s like maybe make a little money. We’re like, “This is the only way we can make money is doing this.” And you’re like, “I would occasionally like doom school.” It’s like, “No, I do that the whole day every day.” And you just It is a horrific like bedrotting feeling where you’re just like, “Get this thing away from me.” But you can’t you just can’t help it. It’s so out of this vortex, dude. It is a vortex. I I’ve actually been trying to use it to my benefit. It’s going to sound I’m just going to sound like a guy who is addicted to Tik Tok, but like I basically use it to time travel. Like when I’m on a long flight, I watch Tik Tok and I feel like it’s a 15inute flight. No joke. It really puts you in a vortex so much and it just changes the way time works. And I’m scrolling. I’m scrolling. I’m seeing all sorts of crazy [ __ ] as you would imagine. And then, oh wow, I’m in I’m in Portland, Oregon. I I made it. My flight has landed. It really is. But that’s not a good thing for your brain. It’s it can’t be. So I I think the the decision that you made to get rid of it was the right one for sure. You just got you just got to have a little a few resets every once in a while. You know what I’m saying? Totally. Reset’s a good term. I need a reset. I don’t even know where you would start like with a Christmas break or something. That was one thing I was going to ask you, Xander, was when you’re talking about your stressed and I guess this would be before the kid was born. What does like do you have do you have other hobbies or what does something look like that you’re doing that’s not golf that is sort of relaxing you? I mean, when I’m in when I’m in it, I can’t I I couldn’t relax. Like I’m okay. Like I’m like I’m I’m in it, you know? I’m I’m like, you know, I’m I’m in my I have a room in my my house at the gym. Like it’s got all these mirrors and you know, too many mirrors and I’m grabbing a I mean I got clubs in there and I got drip like you know devices in there and it’s a it’s a it’s a disa it’s my vortex. Do you know what I mean? Like Right. Yeah. It is your vortex. That’s such a healthier vortex for you. I mean not kind of not really you know and then like oh this you know this feels pretty good. Then I go to the course and shoot you know 40 on the front nine. like, you know, I don’t know if it’s like healthy, but my, you know, my my my wife and and my dogs here prior to this kid, you know, were were my healthiest sort of distraction. You know, they they bring me a lot of happiness. So, uh that that would have been, you know, like my my step away from it where you I can hang out with her and hang out with them and get away from that’s like my getaway from golf. Um my my home life. But you watching any TV shows or anything like that? We got to get you on something. I haven’t watched a good TV show in in in what feels like a while. Severance. You watch Severance? I have not. My my uh my wife’s sister was actually telling me to she said I’d like Severance. She told me to watch it. I haven’t. Really good. Severance is is really really good. Um Apple TV in general has been crushing it for a couple years now, I would say. And like Silo is really good. Severance really good. They just I watch I watched Silo. I watched Silo when I was uh What did you think of Silo? When I was hurt. It was it was it was good. When I was hurt, I actually did watch like I watched every was a Taylor Sheridan show like known to man. Oh, like like Yellowstone. I watched Yellowstone. Um I watched I watched Lioness. I watched uh Land Man. You name it. I like Land Man. I haven’t done the Taylor Sheridan thing yet, but I’m going to at some point. I’m just going to dive fully and that’ll be my new vortex as opposed to 4 secondond Tik Toks. I’m going to go to Taylor Sheridan World, 1895 or whatever, whatever year it was. The spin-off. Yeah, the spin-off. 1915. Uh, you know, the one with Harrison Ford. So, yeah, I did I did watch that and then, you know, once I got back into golf, it was just all me back in the vortex with the mirrors. Those damn mirrors, dude. Those I’m going to break them right now after this phone call. If you do I we wanted on do during the podcast, go in there and start breaking [ __ ] That would be incredible. Like those demolition videos when people rip their houses down, you’re just destroying mirrors. Yeah. I do like that we’re learning Xander has like spiral tendencies and he’s slowly just isolated himself to where the spirals are pretty much internal and don’t matter that much, right? No, my you know, my wife knows they’re just they’re they’re external but internal to to everyone else. Sure. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And your son Victor’s learning too little. He’s like there’s some this guy likes to go crazy occasionally. Going back to the RDER Cup quickly, what what is it between you and Pat that is so I mean that duo has been so fun to watch over the last couple and you guys just seem to get each other. The chemistry is there, but that’s another one that is largely it’s feels internal to us cuz we watch it and we’re like it’s not a ton of it’s almost surgical what you guys do. It’s less rahrh and it’s like we’re just going to go out there and beat you guys and then like it’s it’s a point and we it’s like all right that’s the Xander and Pat point. Like that’s hu we’re going to get that one. Like I feel like that’s the conversation in the locker room. What is it? What kind of connection do you two have that you guys sort of work with each other so well? Yeah, it it all started Fred Fred Couples had this idea to to put us together thinking, you know, cuz I’m I’m more like I’ll joke around a little bit more. I’m a little bit more, you know, as as much as we joke about me being internal, like when I’m in the locker room, I like to like tease guys and and and like, you know, pick on people and and have just just like, you know, see seeing people laugh makes me laugh, you know, that whole thing. Pat’s a little bit more. He I can get him going a little bit, but like he’s not going to be the one to start that party. Do you know what I mean? Sure. Um he’s not he’s not yelling at, you know, JT across the room, you know, unless JT did something terrible like the thing he did on his head. Um uh so when Fred put us together at in Australia, we didn’t really know each other too well. Like we’ve known of each other, you know, we we we definitely played a fair amount, but that definitely brought us a lot closer. And we def we kind of operate the same way. We have sort of a similar belief on on how to play the game and when it came to alternate shot we almost like turned into one person you know like where someone would how someone would play a hole in alternate you know if you take a bomber and a short hitter like it didn’t matter coming down to like how Pat and I would curve the shot into into that pin how we would like hit a certain chip or a certain bunker shot or playing playing a certain putt like we we kind of like synced up almost and it it felt like it became pretty surgical like we we would I remember in Australia we were we won we lost our match. We got smoked by I think Sanjay went he like chipped in on the first hole and then like they just teed off on us and then Pat and I were so tired and they’re like you guys want to go again this afternoon and we’re like we looked at each other like yeah we’d love to and they’re like all right good you’re going. And Pat and I like Pat’s in Pat’s in the lounge drinking like six cups of coffee. I’m eating these like en energy gummies and we’re just we’re like completely dejanning in this like caffeine oding in in the freaking team tent and we like go out there and he like pat this is like in such pat fashion which like can rub people off in in a weird way at times but he looked at me and he goes I may not talk to you like this afternoon but I am with you like I’m pulling for you and like we’re going to get this done and he’s like I’m just going to conserve energy and I’m going to walk ahead. So like like if like if you don’t know Pat very well like just shoot straight with them and you’re going to get a straight answer back like that’s how like Pat and I operate. So from that day forward and then we were like I think we went two down early in that match as well and then ended up pancaking them and winning two or three up and we just like like you said we just started picking apart this golf course like one shot at a time and it was so fun and then people started to realize we play really well together and then you know we’ve had our ups and downs from then but for the most part we still really enjoy playing together. Pat’s one of my good friends. We we live close to each other and yeah we always look forward to to playing on these teams together just to to see what we can kind of muster up. It does feel like you guys have the type of friendship and relationship out there where you can say a lot to each other without saying anything. Yes, a few looks here and there. Like he he I mean he’s always stoic and calm looking, but like you look at that putt he made in Rome in the dark and that basically almost started a full-blown brawl in that green. And his emotion there like you know what I And then the putt he made at the President’s Cup like in the dark is I I tell him all the time if him and I are like in a playoff to win a tournament and it like the sun’s going down, I’m just going to slow play the [ __ ] out of him and and be like we have to play in the morning tomorrow. Like I’m not I’m not No one should go against Pat in the dark. Like this is something about Patty Ice in the dark is like he keeps making these putts when it’s like you can’t even see the green. I’m like, you know, he’s nocturnal, man. He’s a little bit of a nocturnal guy. as you get him in the dark, there’s no problem out there. But I No, I I love that insight because, you know, that type of communication from him is perfect of like, no, no, this is how I’m going to this is how I’m going to succeed here and lock in, but I want you to know this doesn’t mean that I’m not into you. I’m rooting for you, man. I hope you play great, but I got to do what I got to do. It’s kind of I feel like what you want out of your partner. It doesn’t have to be rah rah all the time. It’s like, I need to make sure you’re where you need to be and you’re focused on what’s happening, doing whatever you got to do to get that thing done. I think that’s a good way to do it. Yeah. And and it clicked with me. I mean, I growing up with my dad. I mean, he he’ll say some things, you know, off the cuff and like I’m just straight just just say just say it like, you know, I’m not going to take an offense to it. I might, but like, you know, I’ll let you know if it offends me. Very good sounding that. Yeah. Yeah. So, so, you know, you know, I can if if if I’m playing with, you know, with with Bryson and, you know, next week and and he’s I mean, I was already telling Bryson, I want to see him walking down every freaking putter up, you know, as if he drove the green, you know what I mean? Like, I love that. I I love that Whistling Straits. That’s the energy we need. So, if I’m playing with that and and he tells me this is what’s happening, [ __ ] more power to you. You know what I mean? Right. Right. Yeah. And it’s everybody’s different. And I think that’s what’s so cool about the RDER Cup is that you do get 12 guys on a team from the individual sport like we talked about earlier that all of a sudden you kind of see it. You just see a different reaction come out. And I saw a couple of the promo clips uh from uh I guess it was probably Whistling Straits and there were a few from Rome, but it was like Scotty Shuffler giving gigantic fist bumps and I was like I just wasn’t even ready. I didn’t even remember that those types of things happen and the fact that that brings it out. I remember I’ve seen like clips from Matt Coocher back in the day like going crazy and right just like that’s that’s so surprising to me. So I I love that part of it on the on the golf course aspect of it. You know after Rome um we had uh Eduardo Mullen Arian. was going a lot through the data and the course setup and it made us sort of really look at um home team advantage and and you know all that part that goes into the RDER Cup. You know, now that you’re on you we got the home field, home team, home course. Um h have you been involved? Have has the group texts been involved? Did that get cut off a while ago in terms of like how the course could be tweaked leading up to next week? Yeah, it was it was it was talked about at at a couple of the dinners. Um, we have, you know, Eduardo does a great job for them. Obviously, set Roma up perfectly. Um, we have our scouts. I think they do a great job as well. Uh, and I feel like these teams are pretty close. I I I don’t I don’t I don’t sit here and and think, oh, this, you know, this team’s way better than that team. U, right? Feel like they’re pretty close. And I feel like pretty evenly matched. like there’s no big distance bias. There’s no like everyone’s, you know, they’re way better at this, they’re way better at that. I really do think it’s going to come down to, you know, Scotty keeps talking. I mean, I might just start talking about what Scotty talks about, so maybe something clicks for me, too. But he keep, you know, talking about preparation. I think the team that’s the most prepared it it being, you know, three or four weeks after our sort of final final event is a big deal. Um, very different than when it was the week after the after East Lake, you know. I think that definitely that changes a lot. Um, so much can I mean I had a kid like so much stuff can happen. So um, right you know I think whoever’s coached coached the best, whoever gets acclimated the fastest um, and uh, coached as in like you know gets the pairings right, gets the mojo right, gets all that stuff right, uh, you know will come out on top of of this RER cup. I like that. Is there anybody on the uh, anybody on the group text who’s like noticeably more active than anybody else? We This is This has been all all team events are fun. You put You put Kizner, Gary, and Sneds and then like the angel sent from Jesus himself, Webb Sinson down. Do you know what I mean? Like you put you Yep. You put that and then Jim, you know, like Jim will throw his like Jim is incredible. Like ever since presence like ever since I’ve gotten to know Jim more, like he’s definitely he’s he’s been awesome. He’ll throw his two cents in every once in a while. I mean, Keegan doesn’t even need to write anything. They’ll just start it off. You know what I mean? Guy guys are already I don’t even names, but guys are already getting harassed for losing to the vice captains, you know what I mean? In Napa. U started started by the started by the vice captains, obviously. So, the I would say I I I would pay like it’s it’s special to say the least. It’s special. K kids definitely, you know, he take I think I think he takes his his golf channel hat off when he when he’s texting us. Yeah, that’s not uh that’s not surprising. It is a very funny like dichotomy that you describe of really this crew of however many people are on that thing with the assistants and every the vice captains and 20 people and it is like I remember seeing web Simpson at uh the cradle at Pinehurst like six years ago, five years ago and he had an Ain’t No Hobby hat on that he had like bought online which what we were like selling along with kids and I couldn’t believe that Web Simpson was like a kids guy because they’re just cut from such different cloth. So, I can imagine that type of all the different personalities on there. It’s like a bunch of people that should have never been on the same group text, but it’s like magical that they are. But that’s that’s the thing. I mean, Kee Keegan thought this through obviously got good advice. Um, you know, I think I think I think Jim is is the wisdom. Um, and like you can’t have two Kers. You just can’t. Do you know what I mean? Like it’s dangerous to have more than one Kiz. There can only be one. Agreed. Um, he is plenty. There could barely be one. Really? Yeah. They’re comparing barely holding on with one, hanging by a thread with one. Um, so that’s right. Yeah. So, I mean, if you look at what what what Keegan kind of, you know, the list of his he keeps talking about how these vice captains have given him so much confidence. I’m like, of course they would. Do you know what I mean? Like, you got a guy who’s like done it all. He’s calm. He’s he’s stoic. You got a guy who’s like the nicest guy in the world. You got a guy who who will run his mouth. You got all of them, you know, all of them are like hyper competitive as well. So it just creates this for me selfishly. I mean it’s such a fun environment to be in. You know what I mean? I’m sitting at home having so much FOMO. I never have it and these guys are in Napa just ripping through this chat. I’m just like you know what I mean? Dang it. You know I’m like tell I’m so I’m so bummed. So I’m so pumped to get back with the guys uh here here shortly. God. Um I like it man. I like the the vibes. I feel like the team is is jelling. do feel going in like it is not a um it anything could happen. I think that both team I mean they’re running pretty much the same team back. Um our team is insanely strong. Beth Paige is such a cool venue. Like we’ve been able to uh do quite a bit up there. Frankie who is who had to miss the show because he’s legitimately has to watch uh his son right now because his wife had like an appointment. What that’s like but he got married at Beth Page um last year. It’s like and and so for uh for us, we love the place for what we do on this show. It’s like the uh most up uh like our alley type of famous golf course. You know, people sleeping in their cars. Um it was I remember when I lived in New York um from 2016 to 2020, it was like under 75 bucks to go play Beth Paige Black on like a Saturday morning. And it’s a top 10 course I think I’ve ever played. And so just the whole um the whole feeling around Beth Paige Black and kind of what it means to New Yorkers and and those on Long Island, the major championship pedigree. Um Europe running the team back, US having so many absolute studs on the team and the chemistry and all the names involved and Keegan and all of it is just so damn exciting. And I, you know, I really do appreciate you taking the time to talk with us. I mean, you’re you’re wildly busy. you’re gearing up for what I think is going to be the biggest spectacle in the world of golf in the history of golf. You just had, you know, child and all that. So to take the time really means a lot. And I would say too, I mean, you’re you got a couple major championships under your belt. You got Olympic gold medal. You’ve got you’re a father now. You’re number three in the official world golf rank. You are a [ __ ] stud. The golf. So when you go out there next week at Beth Page Black and you wear that red, white, and blue, you remember that you are as good at this thing as anybody on planet Earth. Mhm. This is the reset that I needed. Thanks, boys. Stay away from the mirrors. Stay That would be my word of advice. Stay away from the mirrors unless you’re going to break them. Otherwise, stay away from them. I appreciate you, boys. Frankie, congrats on the kid. That’s huge. He’s going to love that. He is going to absolutely love that. He’s going to need that. Um, all right, Xander Schoffley, good luck next week. We’ll see you at Beth Paige. We really do appreciate the time and um, go get him. Go get him. Thanks, Ricks. Thanks, T. You’re the man.

Riggs "Phenomenal" Bozoian
I'm glad for this partnership with Adidas because their private label apparel quality sucks!
What's going on with the writer cup? Is it over or are there more episodes coming?
Did ADIDAS witness Riggs tee shots in person?? If so, the sponsorship would be canceled.
10 minutes on baby bullshit and then another 35 on clothes. 45 minutes until golf shows up on this golf podcast. You have to know this is unlistenable without skipping half of the episode.
Yay the latest infomercial!
Because Kendricks understands what is about to happen.
Frankie watching the Emmy’s is very on brand. Most feminine golfer on YT
